you know what one of my favorite tropes is? forced identity reveal. and not just scenes where the villain will throw some poor civilian off a building if the Justice League doesn't stand up. I mean the kind where they're forced, through magic or powers or some sort of force, to reveal themselves.
Kryptonians are immediately identified in the crowd with kryptonite. Every Lantern hisses as their rings start to flare at the same time, glowing wildly on their hands. Glamours are forcibly dropped. Like that.

Kryptonite is ecto-sugar
After the ghosts realized they could create food out of the ectoplasm they needed to survive, they got a little creative about it. Many ghosts began to ask those who were chef's in their lives for sugary products: desserts, more than anything.
The problem was that the Realms did not have a star as bright as the sun, and because they were in the land of the dead it was very difficult to farm. But after much persistence they managed to obtain a plant similar to sugar cane with the help of Undergrowth.
With this, many ghosts came together to help in the process and "ecto-sugar" (later called Kryptonite) was created, which they managed to alter enough for it to multiply without the help of the plant.
However, they got too excited, the quantity of sugar increased and ended up in different sizes, there were big or small pieces everywhere.
Because of that some of the final products were simply unusable and were thrown away in random places on the Realms. Somehow this ended with the ecto-sugar multiplying its amount and ending up as little crystals everywhere, buried in the floor of the floating islands.
Even some of them were discarded in natural portals. Unfortunately for the Kryptonians, the ecto-sugar fell directly onto a desolate part of their planet and began to multiply. When the first Kryptonian discovered it, he realized he was extremely weak to it, and since he thought it was originally from his planet he named it "Kryptonite".
The real reason they were so weak to it was because the ecto-sugar was made from start to finish with death, and developed in a lifeless environment without natural sun. Naturally, with Kryptonians being glorified plants, this ended being extremely harmful to them.

It's a minor pet peeve of mine when somehow de-powered Clark (usually via red sun radiation) is portrayed as just being a regular human. He's not.
Kryptonians are aliens, and logically, for Clark to be able to do all that he does under a yellow sun, Kryptonians should be able to do something similar (though far less powerful) under a red sun too. Why would Clark be able to take in energy from the sun if Kryptonians didn't do the same on Krypton?
A kryptonian under a red sun (or depowered Clark) should still have keener senses than a human and be able to see in more wavelengths; maybe still able to move a little bit faster than a human could or be a little bit stronger. Be more durable than a human too. The mechanism for heat vision would still be there, just less powerful (maybe emits closer to infrared?) Maybe a Kryptonian under a red sun can't fly, but they can glide/hover/jump a lot further.
Anyway, the point is: Clark's an alien. Even without his powers, he's still an alien.

I can't get the picture of Kryptonians lazing around in the sun out of my head. They're like cats just napping in the sun, soaking up the light. And slowly moveing as the sun moves so they stay in the light.

I just watched the season finale of My Adventures With Superman, and this finale was so good. The reveal of the General being Lois' father was such an effective reveal, and explains why they held off naming his character up until this point. I love how this episode has conflicts with two fathers. The one Lois has with her father, and the one Clark has with his biological father, and the way the episode frames both is perfect. The action in this episode near the end was also superb, using Superman's powers to the fullest. That final scene with Jor-El was great, and I really hope we get to see more of him next season. The reveal of next seasons villain was good too, opening up many possible future storylines. I'm excited where this show might go in the future! It's so great we got two great Superman seasons of television this year!

My real angsty Kryptonian culture headcanon is that if Clark wasn't raised speaking krytonian and only learned it later, of their generation (the last generation of krypton) Kara would technically be the last true native speaker
From what I understand, a language is considered a dead language either when it's no longer spoken in everyday (non-academic) contexts or when it's last native speaker dies
So I'm just imagining Kara finding out Lois is pregnant and half begging Clark if she can teach Jon krytonian as he grows up so he's raised bilingual and their language won't die with her
Something about someone learning/teaching a language for the next generation’s sake always gets me.
I also like to think Bruce quietly teaches Kryptonian to all of his kids so that Clark and his children/family have someone to speak to when he’s gone.

Also I love this 9-1-1 discussion I’ve watched it for seven years and no one really to talk to about it but I also love Lone Star and I’m sad I have to wait until November for that.
omg!
I haven't watched Lone Star (yet) but I may try it out at some point. I know Liv Tyler is in the first season and she is one of my top crushes of all time. What's preventing me from holding off on it is that I've heard it isn't as ensemble focused - I love that about the OG 911 show.
I started 911 during the 2020 pandemic lockdown and got briefly obsessed but got pulled in other fandom directions after I'd caught up with the seasons that'd been released. Dropped in and out randomly for a year or two afterwards, then started catching up with old eps and watching the new eps on ABC over the past couple months in earnest.
I'm glad I did, because I'm so so so happy for them getting to make Buck queer <3 it's so so so fitting for the character!
I just - it's such a fun ridiculous emotional feel good show! I love everyone in this firehouse and call center!
