We're going to start living together here from today. And yet we can't trust each other like this. This is so sad…

Kate (2021):
“ A female assassin has 24 hours to get vengeance on her poisoner before she dies. “
★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
Second movie that I’ve watched it this week, and it’s not any better than the previous one. I love action movies, and this one seemed promising but... no. I love Mary Elizabeth Winstead, but this is definitely not one of her best movies. This whole film feels clumsy. The action scenes are questionable and the lore is mediocre. It has some cute moments, and that fourth gif is badass, but overall I don’t really like this film.

i've never EVER seen anyone talk about this movie so i'm here to recommend Kate (2021) to any fans of badass women, incredible acting, awesome cinematography, and kicking parasitic western ideology in the balls, i can highly recommend Kate (2021)
one of the main cast, Miku Martineau, had her breakout role in this film and she did SUCH a great job i couldn't belive it was her first acting job
apparently whiny male critics found it "derivative of other female assassin movies" like um how dare content be inspired by other content ig?? some CNN bitch said it "lacked mystery" it's an action movie. sorry it was a little predictable. i for one was very much caught up on Mary Elizabeth Winstead chewing up the scenery and also herself. like come on i DARE you to tell me what the themes and messages of the movie were. go on bitch do it. idk just seems like racism to me tbh
anyways yeah highly enjoyed it and if anyone else has seen it/ends up watching it i'd love to hear your opinions!!

"Even among other demons, he's a master of evil."
"If that's true, why did it have to be..."
" ...your daughter? What sin did that young girl ever commit? If you go fishing, do you know what you'll catch?"
"No."
"He's just fishing. Not even he knows what he'll catch. He just threw out the bait, and your daughter took it."

The Boy and the Heron (2023, Japan)
Director & Writer: Hayao Miyazaki
Mini-review:
What a wonderful film. I knew Hayao Miyazaki would not disappoint me, but I didn't think I'd love The Boy and the Heron this much. I'm really glad I stayed away from all the promotional material, as Ghibli originally intended, cause that allowed me to be taken by surprise by this story, this world and these characters. It's definitely Miyazaki's weirdest and most esoteric film, and one of his most ambitious too. But that Ghibli magic we all love so much is as present as ever, and the movie is just so original. I really can't think of any other films like this one, and it kept me enthralled during its entire run. Its fascinating rumination on life, death and grief takes center stage through some of the smoothest and most delightful animation I have ever seen. Not to mention the character and creature designs, which are among Miyazaki's most fun work. To sum up, this is a must-watch for any Ghibli fans, and I recommend going in as blind as possible.
