okay but curry can we PLEASE talk about how fucking PHENOMENAL like action Mihawk is. Had me on the brink of mental collapse 24/7 bc I kept thinking about his magnificence- he knocked it out of the PARK GODDAMNIT!!! Who's your fave from the live action cast and what are your thoughts?? Personally I think it's very good, I just wish Sanji's arc hadn't been cut (tho Don Krieg sucks as a villain, ngl, kinda happy Mihawk got rid of that bitchboy so easily ☠️☠️☠️), but other than that I'm SO proud of everyone involved, they really put in lov and dedication and respect for the series, I'm looking forward to more!!! ok full disclosure lest anyone think i have read the manga or seen the anime: i haven't, it's way long and i've never felt particularly drawn to it. HOWEVER i've seen my fair share of (shounen) anime and when i saw they were doing a live action of one piece i really thought it was going to suck bc the live actions always suck. boy was i wrong. everyone working on this from screenwriters to cinematographers to costume department to the actors themselves clearly love the source material and knew exactly what they were doing, and the vibe is Exactly Right. it's camp and fun and a little stupid like shounen anime tend to be and it fully embraces it and so it feels completely natural. of course the cat-themed pirate crew hiss and wear knife-gloves. of course there's characters with blue and green and whatever colour hair. of course the officers in the marines have personal Themes. we don't need any explanation, the world is just like this. and it's balanced exactly right so the more emotional, serious aspects of the story carry the weight that they need to without feeling out of place.

also, as a someone who hasn't engaged with the manga/anime, i think the series cut away/kept enough of the original material to come out of it feeling well-paced, understandable to newcomers and filled with fun recognisable bits for long-time fans. perhaps this meant, as you say, cutting out some pieces of character development/background that might have been enjoyable, but it's a well-made sacrifice bc it prevented the story from feeling too bloated. i think it was just right like this: gave us background on everyone and simultaneously left room for the story to process, without too many things at once to focus on. you could still sense that it was based on a manga bc of its little arcs - usually two eps with a minor boss to beat each time, and a bigger, badder boss at the end of the season. so i feel like keeping that theme in a narrative sense also really helped to make it reminiscent of the material it draws from and made it well-rounded and well-structured overall.

ANYWAY. mihawk. oh my god. i rewatched his scenes. multiple times. he was gorgeous. effervescent. insert the lady gaga meme. again i haven't engaged with the og material but i know these kinds of manga characters and there's so many ways to do them wrong but steven john ward really said 'i was made for this role actually' and he served absolute cunt. definitely up there among my favourite characters in the show - and that's saying a LOT bc im obsessed with almost everyone in it fr. they made me like the fucking clown (i hate clowns) buggy is genuinely incredible. the main cast? what the hell dude. they just found luffy living irl like... genuinely what the fuck. iñaki was born to play him and he did it so wonderfully - guy who is fatally optimistic but also insane and it works. nami's really cool as well - i've heard/read some stuff abt the writing of women especially in the earlier parts of the manga (woman in shounen main character group syndrome) but i think she was solid here and her interactions with the rest of the cast were great. also usopp! is so cute! so much potential to not have that kind of character work out in a real life adaptation but he's so lovable

and on that note the fucking. interactions amongst the main cast? im sobbing screaming crying they're everything to me. the way they're so supportive and proud and protective of each other and yet they talk shit the whole time too. there's so much chemistry among them and they truly do feel like people from different backgrounds who (sometimes reluctantly) come together and would do anything for each other. like real friends who have fun and make fun of each other too, it's a great dynamic and they really hit the mark there.

as to who's my favourite, well, as i said, mihawk's definitely up there, and im a simple hoe - i love zoro. but i think i enjoyed sanji's scenes the most and not just bc of his ass. heard he's kind of pervy in the og material? well the direction they took him in the live action where they kept the 'imprints on woman' but is overall sweet about it and generally less moody than he is in the anime/manga was a great direction i think. he's supremely enjoyable as a character. the accent? the facial expressions? the smiles? the jokes? im on my bed swooning and giggling and kicking my feet he is so fucking funny and i want him so bad. 'apologies madam i didn't see you there.' 'oooh back for seconds must have liked it' i literally re-watched every scene he was in at least once. his kicks were so nicely choreographed too it was really satisfying to look at, very clean (taz did god's work on his training). sometimes at home ill be doing nothing in particular like ill be standing in the living room and i'll mutter to myself 'cotelette. collier. epaulé. poitrine.' and go on with my day he lives in my brain rent free.

so uhm yea i think the series is really good and 1) sanji 2) mihawk 3) zoro if i had to put them in order i think lmaooo

Now that the Seaworthiest Ship in the Dungeon Tournament is finished, I'll make a funny comments post probably either Thursday or Saturday (busy week) and take a weeklong break afterwards. If staff haven't nuked my account for being a trans woman, I'll run a new tournament after that.

I hit 1000 followers on this blog during the preparation of the tournament that just finished. As I've announced, I have a plan for a tournament to celebrate it. It will be the Favourite Anything in the Series Tournament.

The idea is as follows: You guys submit stuff you like from the series, I put it all in a giant bracket, and then I run a tournament with that bracket to determine the ultimate favourite thing from the series. You can submit anything you like: Characters, monsters, dishes, outfits, ships, scenes, or anything else. You can submit as many things as you like. You can submit a picture along with your favourite anything if you like, and if you don't I'll just pick out a nice picture for you.

Update: Submissions close Sunday February 25th, 10am Central European Time. I'll ignore anything submitted after that.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I mention this before. I headcanon that Megumi is stronger than he looks because he has trained with his animals. I fully believe Megumi has a habit of carrying around his shikigami whenever he feels like it. He doesn't just carry Kuro (the black Demon Dog) around. He'll carry the frogs, a bundle of the rabbits, and a couple of times used the elephant's tusks to do pull-ups.

“Take a seat quietly for now, instead of making a commotion. You have poor manners, you know. Your figure blocks the view of the person sitting behind you.”

Kuro: Ah, right… Hahah, it’s been a while since I last got a scoldin’ from ya, Gramps.

Raffaello: “I do not mind a little bit of whispered banter. Opera has been like that since ancient times, although it is a culture Japan is unfamiliar with.”

“But from what I’ve seen in this opera’s proposal, however, it appears Shu-kun and Kagehira-kun have a different, or rather, a unusual interpretation—

“The truth of the matter is, the woman named “MADEMOISELLE” does not exist. That too is subject to interpretation however, but there is no human being of flesh and blood with a family register.”

“Such is why she was not even given a name, and instead was earnestly given the nickname “MADEMOISELLE”. She is a fictional, non-existent person.”

Nazuna: So far, Itsuki’s guess has been correct.

Then, does that mean that all of it was just grandpa’s joke, it was all made up?

Wait, but then what would be the point of that? Itsuki and I just assumed this Raffaello guy was just trying to con out of his inheritance…

But then, that Raffaello was actually just grandpa himself. If he wanted the inheritance, there wouldn’t be any need to pull off something so absurd.

Kuro: He wouldn’t even have to go through the trouble of stealin’ it. The inheritance is already his property, it belonged to Gramps from the very start.

I’m in such a mating cycle/animal instincts mood so a tierlist of that seems fitting. what animal hybrids would the cast be? -rei

so many of these characters could fit as so many different things but fuck it these are what i'm running with

Anzu would make a really cute fluffy lionhead type bunny or a wool breed. Eichi is probably some kind of purebred rex, super soft ears and calm. Leo reminds me of one of those really emotive rabbits that will thump at you for something entirely minor, then start binkying around all over the place for some other random reason. Makoto is your average white rabbit. Nazuna is just your standard dwarf rabbit, cute but nothing wild. Wataru might secretly be a hare. Mayoi is a lop, he's also the most prone to die on the spot from stress smh.

As cats... HiMERU is a very calm, but not very affectionate cat with very sleek fur. Ibara seems very affectionate but then bites you if you try to pet him too much, also has really coarse fur. Jun is the rare type of cat that's okay with literally anything. Keito is aloof, but not mean if sought out and doesn't run away. Natsume thwacks things he doesn't like away from him (including other people). Mika has a few people who he allows to pet him, and runs away from anyone else.

If i had to put the dog people to breeds: Arashi as a standard poodle with flashy looks and a lot of energy. Chiaki honestly makes me think of a shepherd breed, hardworking and loyal. While I could call Koga a corgi for the meme of it, I think he's actually more like some kind of high-strung spitz. Subaru reminds me of a heeler. Mao is def a kind of collie who is super hard working and gets anxious if he has nothing to do. Tatsumi is like a LGD to me (think great pyreneese), calm and chill but not a push over at all. Niki is a sighthound mix because he's so weird bless. Tsumugi is dependable, calm person that reminds me of a newfoundland (also fluffy)

Hiyori is a lovebird! So sweet, but also bratty. Hokuto is smart, but also weird, he's a magpie. Izumi is a peacock, showy to his own detriment. Have you ever seen fancy pigeons? Shu is one of the ones with the really dramatic trails and pulled back heads. Souma makes me think of a really inquisitive ringneck or a songbird. Yuzuru is a hawk! totally tethered and accustomed to society, but a hawk nonetheless.

With how regal and intimidating he is, Nagisa's gotta be some kind of big catboy. A white lion or tiger feels most fitting. Adonis was a struggle to place but I think being a bear suits him well. Cop out answer for Kanata would be to just call him a fish, but I think calling him a capybara is fitting. So i also struggled a bit with Kuro but ultimately, I want to call him wolf. Can you even be surprised if i call Madara a cowboy? No you can't. Ritsu and Rei are already vampires, might as well be batboys. Rinne is a crafty, scheming little shit, he's totally a fox.

so aside from Sytke Ardus, I have created MANY RWBY OC's over the years that I don't talk about much often outside of Discord. Figured I'd just do a masterpost of them and talk about them all here. And yeah ALL of them are Faunus... don't judge

Anyway, all character bios under the cut. From left to right, top to bottom

Faolan Ossory and Aetos Dios: a wolf Faunus and an eagle Faunus respectively, and Sytke's two other friends. The two of them, Sytke, and Ilia form team SAIF (pronounced "safe", as it's named after the star Saiph on the constellaion Orion). Two Faunus orphans that have supported each other's backs all their lives living as partners in Menagerie. Faolan is the more socially awkward and airheaded of the duo, while Aetos is cautious, paranoid, and not much of a risk taker. Faolan is based on the Irish werewolves of Ossory (his semblance called “Wolfwalker” is the ability to take on the ghostly form of a wolf whenever he's knocked unconscious), and Aetos is named after + based on Zeus' eagle in Greek mythology

Magenta Rogue and Caliber Pantera- actually RWBY versions of my Hazbin/Helluva OC's Raiya and Colt. A romantic spotted hyena and jaguar couple, and former White Fang members. However they worked for Adam moreso out of necessity and survival than a desire for revenge (though that WAS still part of their main goal at the time). Ever since they abandoned the Fang they've struggled to get by until they found a decent home with new friends in Menagerie (yeah I guess this type of RWBY OC is kind of cliche but whatever, was the best thing I could think of for them)

Bruce Thlayli- inspired by Bigwig/Thlayli from the book Watership Down, a rabbit Faunus (his animal trait is his front teeth) who also once worked for Adam as one of his high-ranking second in commands. Unlike Magenta and Caliber, Bruce voluntarily and actively supported Adam until he gradually became more and more disgusted of his leader’s homicidal actions. His rough falling out with Adam led him to have an often harsh and aggressive, but often well-meaning demeanor. He currently still works with the White Fang, but the reformed version under Ghira's new leadership. He now serves as a drill sergeant for a new and improved White Fang military division for both Huntsmen and non-Huntsmen alike.

Busa Simba, Alma Catori, Silver Fujiwara, and Cincy Sandleford- an all-Faunus team from Vacuo that form Team BASC. They're all really just an excuse for me to have RWBY OC's based on my favorite animal xenofiction, full info about them can be found on my Google Doc here

Faye Ruzizi-Gustafson, Wilkins Savo, Kuro Kuma, Champa Corbett, and Val Savo- ok last group of OC's that have some relevance to the White Fang I swear. A lot of their story is centered around my canon-divergent AU involving Sytke which I've talked about before in different posts, but basically they're a cult of Adam-worshipping Faunus called the Red Fang (edgy as that sounds) that want to honor Adam's legacy and bring back his old homicidal ways, and serve as a main source of conflict for Team SAIF in my AU. They are all themed after irl animal serial killers known for attacking humans. Faye is based on Gustave the crocodile, Wilkins and Val are brothers based on the man-eating lions of Tsavo, Kuro Kuma (the leader) is based on Kesagake the Sankebetsu brown bear, and Champa is based on the Champawat Tigress.

Florence Cuta- basically a secondary RWBYsona for myself (first one being my goat Faunus girl Lara Ziege). She's a vicious spotted hyena Faunus who works at a shady bar in Mistral that's actually a hideout spot for underground criminal operations. And she thinks Cinder and Tyrian are very attractive, definitely not a self projection in any way shhh

Rabbits or Hares

(Rabbits were introduced to China long after they were part of their mythology, only as the endemic Chinese Hare)

Any particular notes or reasons?

Rabbits have a few interesting characteristics biologically and mythological I can connect to these two. Rabbits are universally known as prey animals. Both Tachibana and Makoto are sought after by threatening parties the entirety of Y0. Rabbits, in other parts of the world, are associated with being timid (if not overly cautious.) This comes with the territory of being prey animals. These attributes are also fitting for these two siblings. Watership Down, a western (British) novel published in 1972, features the harrowing adventures of a group of rabbits trying to find a safe home. One (abbreviated) proverb drawn from a tale they tell of their own origins is: "All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you." Not to mention, in Japan - much like cats and dogs in the west - rabbits and dogs (the species I most use to represent members of the Tojo) are mortal enemies. A final reason that I chose rabbits for them is because of a particular tale in Buddhist religion. See: The Rabbit on the Moon. I feel like it fits Tachibana well.

Kasuga Ichiban

Any particular notes or reasons?

Kai Ken are considered loyal dogs in Japan. They're also considered a rare breed - fitting for Ichiban, who is one-of-a-kind. Though they are eager to please, they are also described as "independent thinkers." And, even more important, "brave", despite being medium-sized dogs. (They're also considered intelligent. All these things seem to be an impossible concoction of personality traits. That is, before you meet Ichiban. (The Best Boy)

Seonhee is a force to be reckoned with! It's only fitting that she's represented by a rare, powerhouse of a creature. Definitely a creature that can keep at least 3 gangs in check. I also wanted the Geomijul to be primarily made of stealthy or sneaky animals, including ambush predators like felines. Tigers are one of a few wild cats in the Asiatic region. I wanted to choose a big one, though. Between leopards and tigers, tigers are more social, so I chose that one.

Any particular notes or reasons?

So, the animal I wanted had to be an absolute unit. I also wanted the animal to be from an area geologically close to striped hyena territory (around the India-ish area.) I feel like it's an interesting take to make his creature a domesticated one...what with being in jail in the beginning of his game and mostly resigned to his fate. I also wanted something close to an African/cape buffalo, one of my favorite animals. They're considered one of the five most deadly animals in Africa (if you're hunting them on foot.) The biggest reason they're in the same club as lions and leopards is because of their sense of altruism. (That, and, uh. A bulletproof skull.) Crocodiles, by the way, didn't make the cut. (If you're curious as to what I mean, I mean you cannot just fight one cape buffalo. You will inevitably be hunting the whole herd. These bovine will come running to herd members that are in distress. For any member, even the calves. And all the herd members join in. And what's worse, they hold grudges. They can recognize human faces. They can remember human faces.)

Any particular notes or reasons?

Birds, in the furry fandom, sometimes have an association with proud jerks, assholes, or glorious bastards. So, when I say Zhao (and Mabuchi, for that matter) has "bird energy", that's sort of what I mean.) All the birds in these options are also beautiful, which I'm sure, doesn't help beat the "convinced that he's better than you" allegations. Symbolism with these birds in particular also fit well; roosters are associated with favorability and successfulness. (Golden) pheasants are also associated with favorability/luck, as well as authority.

Any particular notes or reasons?

Well. Remember what I said about "bird energy" when I talked about Zhao? I feel like Jo's got bird energy. Look at it, it has red eyes?? Just mean, mean hateful looking bird. They also have loud calls, and I feel like that fits with him...being an angry foreman-type. Keeps the recruits in line. Interestingly enough, I see them described as "parasites" as well? Not sure what that's about, but Jo sure sucks the life out of a room if he's in it. ...Listen, I swear I put more thought into it. It's just something you notice about him in the story, best you play the game or watch a playthrough of "Like a Dragon" and check out his whole arc.

Hey, everyone, btw, do you think people who look into these interpretations know all the games, or at least play the whole game through before checking out fanon for that particular game? Can you spoil an old game? If someone checks out stuff before finishing a piece of media, is it on them if they find out something too early?

It's just been a thought I had in mind.

Any particular notes or reasons?

I wanted Haruka to be somewhat reminiscent of her mother in some way, so I made her an even-toed ungulate. (Spoiler alert: Yumi is a Sika Deer.) I also wanted her to have something that was "from" a carnivore, because Jingo is almost certainly going to be a predator. This can also be a "link" to Kiryu. So, Vampire Deer it is! Her animal also had to be something cute and/or cuddly, so it could emphasize how helpless and delicate she's seen as in the canon. I didn't really give it much more thought than that. There may be a day I change my mind on her species, but for now, I'm attached to a deer with fangs.

✿ you were the only child of a famous art-dealer and a tanuki. you were rather known around town for being a bit... dimwitted, though that was very much on purpose on your part. it's easier to make others look foolish when they think you are.

✿ you were 25, though you often pretended to be younger or older to simply fool people. toichiro was 23 and had been presiding in the capital for a few months.

✿ you'd been messing with a rather unpleasant man that you'd seen harassing a girl that was most certainly underage, when toichiro spotted you and possibly recognized you. you didn't much look like your father, but the charm on your belt that bore the art-dealerships symbol probably gave it away. so, he came over and... joined you in messing with the poor man.

✿ after that first time, toichiro would "accidentally" stumble upon you tricking people around time and generally making a fool of the public. you genuinely had no idea how he kept doing it, but you welcomed him dearly every time. soon, there was no one else you'd rather let in on the big secret that was yourself.

✿ toichiro found you magnifying in a way no one else was. he'd heard about the son of the man he did business with, a foolish young boy no one actually knew much about. but the moment he saw you, he knew that you were the exact opposite of all of that, and he didn't know how he knew. toichiro was fun. usually only people you could trick were "fun", but they got boring very fast. but toichiro, he just kept being fun. in no time at all, he was the only person besides your father you felt in anyway comfortable with. like he was always meant to be.

≿━━━━༺❀ shizuki ❀༻━━━━≾

✿ you were the only child of a famous art-dealer and a furi. nobody around town really knew you, you didn't like talking to people. the only thing anyone really knew was that you were often found in the forest, hunting.

✿ you were 12, while shizuki was 11. it had been barely a year since your mother died, in a "hunting accident". you'd just recently been able to go hunting again. shizuki was still with the senkitai.

✿ you were up a tree, surveying the landscape for your next prey. you were hoping for something small, which is technically what you got when shizuki walked into your line of sight. mistaking him for a rabbit with a winter coat, you aim your hunting wand at him, paralyzing him. thankfully, as you aimed your bow you realized he wasn't a furry little creature. you spent the next few minutes profusely apologizing while undoing the paralysis.

✿ every once in a while while hunting you'd come across shizuki. he was rather quiet, but you liked him. you liked taking him with you hunting, teaching him survival skills. you had no idea what was going on in his life, but you hoped it would help. then, one day, you just stopped seeing him around.

✿ shizuki thought you were rather cool, even if he couldn't really put it into words. you were confident, you knew what you were doing, and there was a fire in your eyes he couldn't explain. he'd never trusted someone as quickly as he trusted you. initially you were rather embarrassed, mistaking a pretty boy for a rabbit. but he did rather remind you of one, which for some reason ignited all the protective instincts in you. you had no idea why, but you didn't really bother thinking about it.

≿━━━━༺❀ kuro ❀༻━━━━≾

✿ you were the only child of a famous art-dealer and an okuri-inu. you were often found feeding the strays of the capital or helping someone home in the middle of the night. everyone thought you were quiet, but there was no one quite as helpful in the whole city.

✿ you were 18, as was kuro. technically, anyways. your mother had disappeared nine years prior, and kuro and the troupe had arrived at the capital about two years before.

✿ you came across kuro rather late at night, during your usual rounds around the capital. you'd offered to walk him home, which he eagerly took. he rambled the whole way to the troupe. you just silently listened, which is how kuro didn't notice you escorted him to his door rather than just to the barracks. and then you just disappeared, without kuro having even a change to say goodbye or get your name.

✿ kuro would sometimes on purpose stay out late, just so you would escort him home. and sometimes, he'd catch you with your furry friends and eagerly join in caring for them. you never shooed him off, but you also never really spoke to him. but kuro continued to find you, despite not knowing anything about you.

✿ kuro found you fascinating. a silent protector who appeared and disappeared as needed. once he tried calling out to you, and a few minutes later you showed up. kuro was rather certain that you were made just for him. initially kuro was just another person to protect, but when he started becoming a more permanent fixture in your day to day life, he became a comfort of sorts. there was nothing you awaited more than seeing him even for a second.

≿━━━━༺❀ oji ❀༻━━━━≾

✿ you were the only child of a famous art-dealer and a gashadokuro. this, understandably, made you a rather strange person. you really had no one in your life besides your father, which lead to you spending most of your time at the cemetery.

✿ you were, well, your body was about 28. your bones... older than you can comprehend. oji was of course around a hundred, and had been running raccord in the city for about a decade.

✿ you were wandering around town, following whatever whims your old bones had. you did it rather often, usually it lead you to places important to the people you used to be, or just interesting spots around the city. this time, they lead you to raccord. and when you stepped in, the bellflowers sitting on the counter made something inside you ache. and the eyes waiting for you behind the counter made the ache explode.

✿ you became a regular at raccord, even though you never spoke a word to oji or aoi. it hurt, coming there, but somehow it felt like you had to be there. oji, while off-put by your harsh demeanor, was patient in serving you every time you came by, expecting a day to come when you'd finally talk to them.

✿ oji found you strange, from the moment you stepped into raccord. your shifty eyes that looked far older than they should, the sad look you got when you looked at all the bellflowers and into his eyes, the occasional silent mutterings... but despite all that, he felt like he could trust you implicitly. looking at oji made you sad. you didn't know why, you only assumed that one of your bones knew an ancestor of his or something. but despite all the sadness and ache, you kept coming back because something in you couldn't stop.

≿━━━━༺❀ gaku ❀༻━━━━≾

✿ you were the only child of a famous art-dealer and a zashiki-warashi. people had a habit of calling you a child, despite the fact that you certainly were not. you just happened to look very young for your age. the problems with being half-spirit.

✿ you were 25, no matter what anyone might say about it. it had been over a decade since your mother left, which is when you started seemingly aging slower than everyone else around you.

✿ you rarely left home, it felt like a betrayal to do so, what with your role. but sometimes, you needed time for yourself. you were looking for something small to buy (while surveying the vendors, you're very aware that your patronage meant fortune to people), when you stepped into a little trinket shop. in there, you met gaku, who was looking to sell some stuff he'd made. and you absolutely fell in love with one of his creations, a little children's toy.

✿ you were a bit mad after gaku called you a child after you expressed a desire to buy his creation. but you still became a regular patron of his, always ordering small toys. gaku was certain they were for you, until he saw you playing with children, the toys he'd made all around you.

Tsukiyono Ruli

An outgoing and a little tomboyish girl who is interested in the strange and supernatural. She is a student of Hazakura Academy and stays in the dorms. One day, her school gets involved in an incident surrounding a hologram ghost and she met her partner and self-proclaimed little brother Gammamon who also gave her digivice along with a hologram message from one Amanokawa Hokuto. From that day onwards, Ruli and Gammamon would continue to investigate hologram ghost incidents and why digimon keep coming to the human world.

Amanokawa Hiro

A mild-mannered boy who used to live alone with his father after his mother went to work overseas. After his father suddenly went missing, he continues to live alone in his house. Shortly after that, strange paranormal-esque occurrences started happening in the house. While he was freaked out at first, over time he became used to the maybe-ghost as he realizes that it isn't doing much harm. The ghost's identity is a digimon called Jellymon who stays at his house. They coexist peacefully like that for a few months until Ruli comes along and they finally officially become partners.

Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro

A genius teen prodigy who came from America to Japan because he wanted to experience the Japanese school life like in his favorite animes. He is prone to anxiety and is quite the coward but is very responsible and caring towards the people close to him. While he is the dorm leader of Hazakura Academy, he doesn't actually need to attend class and usually stays in his dorm room all day if he doesn't have any conferences. A curious angora rabbit-like digimon named Angoramon took interest in him because of his intellect and follows him to his various meetings and conferences. When Ruli notices Angoramon following him around the dorm, she gave him a digivice and he and Angoramon became partners.

Udagawa Aoi

A tomboyish and outdoors-y girl who goes to Hazakura Academy and stays in the dorms. She is one of Ruli's best friends and learned about digimon because of her. Later on, she received one of the digivices Hiro found in his dad's room. It wasn't until Hokuto mailed some extra DIM cards however that she was able to get a partner of her own, Ryudamon, who she synced with in order to help restore him after he turned into a Gyukimon.

Nomura Kotaro

An extroverted and confident teen with a bit of a lazy streak. He is Hiro's classmate turned best friend. He has a not-so-secret crush on the dormitory manager Nijima, and a slightly smaller one on Ruli who he came to know through her blog Lirurun. Like Ruli's friends, he would went on to learn about digimon and receive his own digivice. It wasn't until his and Hiro's visit to their sister school in Kamakura though that he met and synced with his partner Espimon using one of the DIM cards Hokuto mailed in.

Kashiwagi Mika

A reserved and soft-spoken girl who cares very deeply and is really passionate in her friendships. She is best friends with Ruli and Aoi, but unlike her friends who live in the school dorms, she lives with her parents in her house, which turns out is quite near to Hiro's house. Like Aoi and Kotaro, she also receives her own digivice later down the line. She was quite scared at first when just starting to get involved with digimon, but she eventually grew accustomed to it and became particularly close to Bakumon. It wasn't until the return of a demonic old enemy however that she would use the DIM card given to her to sync with Bakumon in order to allow him to evolve and save their friends.

Yamamoto Kuroe

A detective who is investigating the hologram ghosts incidents. In the middle of investigating, discovered a connection between the hologram ghosts sightings and the missing person case of one Amanokawa Hokuto. This eventually leads to him learning about digimon and he would later act as adult support for Ruli and the others.

Trick or Alice but better: Part 1

Trick or Alice is an R-18 otome game created by Little Cheese in 2012, the same company behind the yandere game Kuro to Kin no Akanai Kagi. It’s based off of the famous Alice in Wonderland book series by Louis Carroll. Content warning for mentions of sexual content.

From what I heard from people who played it, not only did the game tell it’s story in a very confusing way, but it was also boring due to it’s slow pace. Although, I did hear that 3/5 of the love interests’ romance was written pretty decently. For my revised version, I’ll be ditching the rape, incest, and the little pedophilia the game had for obvious reasons. I’m also not making it an otome game, let alone an R-18 game. The art style looks very cute and colorful, so it’s very disturbing to see these adorable looking characters doing the devil’s tango. The game is also so plot focused that the romacne would feel a little forced if that makes sense. 

I would also have the story be told episodically, but it has an ongoing plot in the backround, similar to Bustafellows, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Season 1 and Season 2-A of The Owl House. That way, the character interactions would feel more concise and light-hearted rather than boring and dragged out. I also would have the Black Rabbit not be Louis Carroll himself, but rather his own person that happened to have created Wonderland. He would also physically look like an adult, since the “looks like a child, but is actually an adult” trope is gross, especially if you’re doing it on a real person. The Wonderland animals would also look like anthropomorphic animals rather than people with animal ears and tails.

Revised version:

White Rabbit and Chrono, The Mad Hatter, were born in a white void, or a “blank page” if you will. White Rabbit had magic, so he was able to conjure up basic needs, like a home, food and water. Outside of their little home, they rest of the world around them was nothing but white. For the longest time, they were fine with this, since they were only fine with each other. The White Rabbit, in spite of his stoic personallity, was always more imaginative. Chrono, despite his more outgoing behavior, preffered to follow the rules. The one thing both of them were worried about was time and what they could make use of it. In spite of their differences, they were close friends. They had plenty of tea parties together and White Rabbit would teach Chrono a few magic tricks. However, when they became adults, White Rabbit felt alone and wanted to make this void more than just a “blank page.” Chrono felt content with this way of living, but he was fine with what the White Rabbit wanted so he could be happy.

White Rabbit decided to create a book titled “Wonderland.” Whatever he writes in the book, it would come to life in the white void. He created a world called Wonderland, a paradise where anything could happen. With Wonderland came the concept of Time, which took the form of a baby girl. White Rabbit and Chrono decided to raise Time together as their child. More specifically, Chrono was the dad, while White Rabbit was more like an uncle figure to Time. In return, White Rabbit created the Queen of Hearts to create some semblance of order for Chrono. Eventually, other residence were born in Wonderland due to the world’s influence, including a cat who smiles a lot, twins made from shadows and light, and a dormouse who liked to sleep a lot. Their names are Chesire, Shadow, Light, and Round respectively. 

However, as the pages of the book became worn out over time, it created rifts, or rabbit holes, that led to other worlds. White Rabbit went to these worlds to close the rabbit holes so nothing will go through Wonderland, all the while making sure he’s 10 minutes early to Chrono’s tea party. What the White Rabbit didn’t know was that a little girl named Alice Liddell from the human world had followed him before he could close the last rabbit hole. Due to Alice now being trapped in Wonderland, White Rabbit felt it was his rsponsibility to look after Alice for the time being. White Rabbit looked after Alice like a doting father, while Chrono acted more like a fun uncle. Alice and Time grew up together like sisters, inseperable in spite of Alice’s cheeful and upbeat personality to Time’s more reserved and calm behavior. 

Over time, Chrono began to resent Alice due to her growing up rather selfish. This was due to White Rabbit spoiling her and giving her whatever she wanted to make her happy. He also felt like Alice took White Rabbit’s time away from Chrono and Time, as the two friends started to drift apart. Chrono complained about this to Time and a sleeping Round after his tea parties, beleiveing that if Alice hadn’t fallen down the rabbit hole, then White Rabbit wouldn’t have been so preocupied. But then…Chrono had an idea…an awful idea…Chrono had a wonderful, AWFUL idea…He was going to kill Alice…This resulted in a chase sequence as White Rabbit tried to protect Alice from the mad Chrono.

White Rabbit decided to use his powers to create a pocket demension for Alice and himself to hide in. This world was called “The Looking Glass World” due to it looking like the human world Alice resided in, and it had humanoid clones of all the Wonderland residnece, aside from Chrono. The only one able to enter in and out of this world was Chesire Cat, who took the form of a stray cat that visited Alice whenever he entered the Looking Glass World. White Rabbit took Alice’s memories as an attempt to keep her safe, as he dons the name “Henry Liddell” and pretends to be her father. Due to using a lot of powers to make the dimention, White Rabbit’s fur turns black, making him the “Black Rabbit” instead. Meanwhile, Chrono took Black Rabbit’s book during the chase, which caused him to gain the abilities to create Wondeland in his own image. However, he descovers the Black Rabbit placed a “bookmark” of sorts to prevent Chrono from using it. This “bookmark” was Elizabeth, a talking plant that resides in the Queen of Hearts’ garden. What the Black Rabbit didn’t know was that this would cause Wonderland to be stuck in a time loop due to the book being stuck in place. Chrono uses this to his advantage, where while he can’t use the book itself, he can use Time to change the events that happen in each repeating day. He kills the Queen of Hearts without anyone’s knowledge except Time, and pretends to be her via the book’s magic. The residents notice how the once nice Queen of Hearts became a tyranical dictator, forcing everyone to go by her rules, or else, they’ll be off with their heads. Chrono as the Queen of Hearts killed anyone who apposed his rule, using Time to make their and the real Queen of Hearts’ deaths permanent. Chrono is also able to enter the Looking Glass World, pretending to be a doctor at Alice’s school without Black Rabbit’s knowledge.

A few months pass by in the Looking Glass World, where after Alice’s 16th bithday, Black Rabbit was going to tell Alice everything and return her back to her world. However, at midnight, a gaint rabbit hole caused by Chrono destroys the Looking Glass World and forces Alice and Black Rabbit to return to Wonderland. Alice slowly regains this information as she meets her friends again, trying to find the Black Rabbit in the process. After her journey of trying to be a better person and friend than the one she was before losing her memories, she finds Black Rabbit hiding in the remains of the Looking Glass World. He explains everything to her and apologizes for not being a better parental figure and erasing her memories. Alice also apologizes for causing Black Rabbit and Chrono’s relationship to break, but he assures Alice that it’s between them and none of that was her fault. 

In the finale, they return to Wonderland to defeat Chrono with the help of the other residence. Elizabeth decides to sacrifice themselves for the sake of Wonderland and ends up in the Looking Glass World, releasing the seal from the book and causing an end to the time loop. Black Rabbit gets his book back and Time takes her revenge on Chrono by rapidly increasing his time, with him dying of old age Mother Gothel style. Black Rabbit decides to let everyone use the book to loosen the world of Wonderland, while keeping some rules in place, like no murdering people for example. In the epilogue, an adult Alice desides to return to her own world after the book ran out of room and Black Rabbit dies. She says goodbye to all of her friends and family before leaving, and they allow her to take the book with her so she will always be reminded of Wonderland. In Wonderland, an adult Time oversees the world to make sure things are going smoothly. In the real world, Alice discovers that Elizabeth is now human and the Black Rabbit, before his death, combined the Looking Glass World and the human world into one. Alice and Elizabeth live together in a cottage, as they take care of a calico rabbit, cat, and mouse. Alice and Elizabeth ocassionally visit Wonderland when they want to. Alice creates her own book series based on her adventures in Wonderland and becomes a famous novellest, using the pseudonym “Louis Carroll.” Elizabeth is a famous fasion model and broadway actor and director, adaptaing some of Alice’s novels into movies.

Cat X Family // Chapter 1

Fandom: Servamp Ship: KuroMahi Characters: Kuro, Mahiru

Summary: Each person has a secret they hide from others, even from their family. Kuro is a spy and his latest mission is to prevent a brewing war between Westalis and Ostania. He never expected his mission would require him to start a family. Without knowing, he marries an assassin and adopts a telepath. (KuroMahi, Spy X Family AU)

Kuro stood in front of a display of colourful flowers and he wondered which would be best to give to April. He didn’t want the flowers to be too romantic or else it would give her hope that they could rekindle their relationship. He only intended to send her the gift as a customary gesture. They dated for a few months but he was careful not to become attached to their relationship. From the start, he never had any hope that they would fall in love.

“Excuse me, would you like some help?” The brunette vendor asked and he gave him a polite smile. Kuro read the nametag on the man’s apron, Mahiru Shirota. The name Shirota was vaguely familiar but he couldn’t place where he saw it before. “Are you buying a gift for someone? I can help you make a bouquet. Do you know what kind of flowers the person likes or their favourite colour?”

“I’m just buying flowers for my home so the bouquet doesn’t need anything special.” Kuro lied. He doubted he would meet Mahiru again but he didn’t want to tell others about his relationship with April. The more people who knew about his current persona and relation, there was a chance someone would question him about it in the future.

While his gaze was on the display, he was acutely aware of his surroundings. The sound of coins clinking together caught his attention and he subtly glanced towards the sound. A boy was selling newspapers a few feet from him and others wouldn’t find him suspicious. Kuro immediately knew the boy wasn’t an ordinary child from how he jingled the coin in his tin cup. The pattern of the sound was morse code.

“Can you make one with lilies and send it to this address? Sign it from Matthew.” He bought a random bouquet of flowers and the vendor handed him change in return. Kuro crossed the street to where the boy was selling newspapers. He dropped the coin into his cup and he started to walk away without a word. The boy stopped him by holding the newspaper in front of him. Kuro said, “I don’t need one, Kid. I just wanted to be charitable. Take the money and buy a snack.”

“Mama said I can’t take money from people when I’m doing honest work. This is to help pay for my rabbit’s medicine. The vet said that the medicine will make him feel better.” The boy said and he held up the newspaper again. Kuro nodded and he took the bundle from him. He shifted the flowers and newspaper into one arm so he could pull out a coin from his pocket.

“It’s good that you’re responsible but you should enjoy being a kid when you can. I’ll buy your newspaper and this is a tip for being such a responsible kid.” Kuro dropped the coin into the cup and then he patted the boy’s head.

He turned away from him and he walked down the streets to a coffee shop where he could read the newspaper. Kuro wanted to procrastinate giving the flowers to April as much as he could. He chose a table next to the door so he would be able to slip away quickly if he needed to. He opened the newspaper and he thought to himself: So, there are spies this young now. I guess I was only a few years older than him when I became a spy and joined Servamp.

Kuro had been a spy for years and gained a reputation for his skill to steal information and disguise himself. The reason he briefly dated April was so he could gain documents from her father who was a politician. He stored the information he found in the coin and then he gave it to the child. After his mission was complete, he waited a few days to break up with her under the guise that he was moving away. He also bought flowers to send her so she wouldn’t be suspicious of him.

From the morse code, he knew that they had another mission for him. He wished he could take a break but that was nearly impossible with the cold war between Westalis and Ostania had led to several plots that threatened the fragile peace between the countries. The Servamps didn’t have an alliance with either of the countries and their only goal was to maintain their peace treaty.

He flipped through the newspaper and he deciphered the message scattered throughout the comic section. Kuro searched for panels with a rabbit drawn on them. He read, I trust that you have completed your mission successfully, Sleepy Ash. We have another assignment for you and it’s of the most importance. Our sources tell us that the chairman of the Conjurer Control Convention may be planning to sell weapons to Ostania and fuel a new war. You must become close to him and find proof of this allegation.

Kuro’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the picture of the chairman, Misono Alicein. He didn’t care for politics but his job required him to learn far more about it than he preferred. The Alicein family was infamous under Mikado who used the previous war to secure land for his business. However, the business was handed to his son after Mikado’s death.

Misono was much more private than his father so not much was known about the man and his family. It became more difficult to gain information on Misono after he married and had a child. He would rarely attend social events and he had a small circle of friends. Kuro didn’t know how Servamp intended for him to befriend Misono and collect information about the Alicein.

Luckily, we have time before the exchange will occur because C3 has been very careful and silent with this plan. We believe the deal will be finalized within three years but each day counts. You must infiltrate the Alicein household and befriend the family. Kuro assumed they would order him to become an employee within the Alicein manor or their organization.

The last thing he expected to read was: You are to find a wife and child within three days.

“The hell?” Kuro yelled and several people turned to him. He quickly regained his composure so he wouldn’t draw more attention to himself. The sentence was so outlandish to him that he read it several times to confirm that it was correct. Unfortunately, they remained the same.

He continued reading the debrief. The only weakness and connection to the outside world that Misono has is his son. His son attends Eden Academy and they hold regular events for families. That will be your opportunity to befriend the Alicein family and search for evidence of their plan. Start a family and enroll your child into Eden Academy.

“Troublesome.” Kuro groaned. He wanted to refuse the mission and give it to someone who was more qualified. However, he knew that the Servamps only had a few spies with their own mission. He folded the newspaper and stood without knowing how he could succeed in such a mission.

Kuro hated orphanages and the memories they bought back. The war had ended a decade ago yet the scars still lingered in both countries. Many were left without a family due to the war. He reminded himself that he needed to focus on his mission rather than his past. He greeted an old man who answered the door. “Hello, I would like to adopt a child.”

He assumed that the old man was the owner of the orphanage and he masked his true feelings beneath a disinterested expression. The owner gestured for him to enter and Kuro followed him through the halls. The paint on the wall was chipped and the children’s clothes appeared old. For his mission, it would be easiest to adopt a child from a shadier establishment.

“You can take anyone you want.” The man said. Kuro wished that it was possible for him to complete the mission alone but it was unavoidable. Kuro didn’t know if the orphanage provided any education to the children but he thought he should ask. Eden Academy was a prestigious private school and it was difficult to be accepted.

“If it’s possible, I would prefer to adopt a child who can read and write.” Kuro asked. It would be better if I don’t need to teach the child how to write. Misono’s child is six years old so I should find a child around the same age. It’s easier for them to be friends if they’re in the same class. I’m a spy and I can’t question the missions given to me but this one is troublesome.

“Machi is six years old and knows how to write!” A young girl jumped into their path. He was surprised by her outburst because the other children had only watched him so far. The child was a brunette and he worried that people would question whether they were related. As soon as he had the thought, she added: “I even know math! You can test me and I’ll pass.”

“Can you tell me what three plus five is?” He asked her a simple question and she quickly answered him without any hesitation. Hope filled her brown eyes each time he told her that answered correctly. Kuro understood the complicated emotions that must’ve fueled that hope he saw all too well. He found himself being sympathetic despite himself. He smiled and said, “You’re one smart girl. Soon, you’ll be able to tell me the square root of 144.”

After a moment, Machi exclaimed: “Twelve! Is that correct? Machi answered all of your questions and she can be adopted now?”

“All of your answers were correct.” His words made her face beam with excitement and relief. Machi jumped forward and she hugged his leg. At first, he didn’t know what to do and he gently patted her head. Kuro thought that it was a miracle he found a child who seemed to be intelligent and well behaved. He could complete his mission with her unknowing help.

He briefly spoke with the orphanage’s owner and he filled out the paperwork to formalize the adoption. While he told her to pack, she remained by his side and she didn’t leave. He assumed she didn’t have anything to take with her. Machi gripped his pants in her tiny hand, as if she were afraid that he would leave without her. She watched him hand the paperwork to the man. “All done?”

“Yeah. From today onward, you’re Machi Sloth.”

“Machi Sloth!” She repeated with a proud smile.

He led her outside to where his car was parked. Machi skipped ahead of him and she stopped next to his car. She didn’t wait for him to open the door for her and she jumped to reach the handle. The door was locked and she could only hang in place. He chuckled at her childishness and then he unlocked the door for her. “It’s safer for you to sit in the back.”

“Next to you.” She barely finished answering him before she climbed into the passenger seat. He helped her put on her seatbelt before he walked around the car. As Kuro sat in the driver’s seat, he saw that Machi had taken off her seatbelt and she stood on her chair to reach the dashboard. She turned the dial to skim through the different radio stations. “Machi will find secret police radio conversation like in the television!”

“This is a regular radio so you can’t listen to policemen with it. You need to sit down and put on your seatbelt, Machi.” He told her. He was glad that she didn’t argue with him and she sat down properly. Kuro didn’t know where she learned people intercept police radio signals and listen to their conversations. Then again, she was clearly an intelligent child. He only hoped her curious nature wouldn’t make her question him too much and learn that he was a spy.

Kuro pulled out of the parking spot and he drove down the road to the apartment that his boss provided him. “Machi, we’re a family now but you should tell people that we’ve always been a family. You should also address me as your father. Do you understand?”

“Machi will tell everyone that you’re my Papa.” She said. He nodded and decided not to correct her when she called him ‘Papa’. While the Eden Academy would prefer their students to be much more traditional, the endearing title would make them a more convincing family. “Machi is really happy that Papa was the one who adopted me.”

My papa is a super cool superhero spy! Machi thought to herself. She needed to contain her excitement or else he would learn that she could read his mind. If Machi helps Papa with his secret mission, I will also be a cool superhero and they’ll give me a medal of world peace!

“How did Papa know Spy Wars was Machi’s favourite show? Can you also rea—” Machi quickly stopped herself before she could ask him if he could read minds like her. She sat down on the couch and she returned to watching the cartoon. “You can rescue the princess like Agent Saizo! Agent Saizo has a cool gun with a silencer. Can Machi have one too for her secret superhero missions?”

“Maybe if we can find one on sale. I’m going to the market and pick up a few things. Stay here and watch your spy show. In the event that anything happens, use the phone to call me. I wrote down my number on the notebook next to the phone.” Kuro said and he pulled his hood over his head. The moment they entered the apartment, he turned on the television to distract her. He needed to buy a few things and he thought she was old enough to stay home for an hour.

“Papa can’t go! Superhero missions are dangerous alone. Wanna go too.” Machi quickly forgot the television and she caught the tails of his jacket. He knew that children could be imaginative but he didn’t expect for her to be so invested in a spy show.

“Alright, you can join me but this isn’t a spy mission.” Kuro didn’t want to argue with her. He expected her to let go of his jacket but she only moved to stand on his feet. She was so small that she could easily balance on Kuro’s feet.

She grinned up at him and ordered: “Give Machi a ride?”

“I can’t really walk when you’re hugging me like this. Can’t deal.” He pointed out but she didn’t move. Kuro bent down and he carefully lifted her into his arms. He carried her down the hall and decided the mission was much more difficult than he first imagined. Though, in the end, the most important part of his mission was to keep Machi safe and unaware of his secret.
