These two labs were remarkable dogs who helped their blind owners escape. Salty helped his owner Omar Rivera escape the 71st floor despite Omar’s attempts to get him to leave him. He even tried to get someone else to take him but Salty wasn’t having any of it! Salty made it clear they were in it together and made sure they got down safely.
Next but not least Roselle, Roselle remained calm and guided her owner Michael Hingson from the 78th floor. The further they went she also attracted 30 people helping them along the way. She would encounter woman panicking after being blinded by debris. This would have her pause as she would begin to lick the woman to try and soothe her. Roselle would successfully get them all out.
Both dogs would be awarded the Dickins medal among another awards.
"I was born with something called Congenital Hypotrichosis which is nothing to be concerned over and it just means I have thinner hair that grows in certain places. In fact, there are some positives such as less shedding and grooming needs-hurray less cleaning! All I need is some basic protection from the elements. So for the sun, we can get matching sun hats, t-shirts or light clothing. I can even wear sunscreen meant for dogs which is available at most pet stores. In the colder months, we can bundle up together with jackets, sweaters, and beanies! We can totally have fun with this and rock it! Think of all the outfits we can go get and we could be twinsies if you wanted. Um hello, what about lil stick-on tattoos that kids wear!?!?"

Happy 17th birthday to the best girl in the whole world, Daisy! ❤️🎉❤️ She got a special birthday hamburger for being the number one heart dog and the best companion for the past fifteen years. I hope we have more great days ahead of us.

"Meet Mia – a 7 month old Boxer/Chocolate Lab mix who currently weighs 30 pounds.
Mia hasn’t had the easiest start to her young life. She was found in mid-June in a very remote area with a wound on her front leg. She was brought to the southern rescue where she has been able to spend time healing. Mia can be quite shy when meeting new people, but once she knows you and trusts you she will be your best friend and your shadow. Her favorite thing to do is to chew on a soft chew toy."
