Ladybug (Coccinella septempunctata) close-up. As you can see, this Coleoptera has a skull painted on its head, just like a common heavy metal band member:
Many thanks to @sarcasm-andotherstuff for her pareidolic superpowers.

SUCK IT ART BLOCK, I’M CREATING AGAIN. I’m excited to be re-doing this fantasy lady bug design as a YouTube tutorial. I sculpted this design for the first time in 2016! You can see how I’ve redone it over the years, the latest design was in 2018. I’m not gunna pretend it’s not a little cringy to look back at older works (I was doing the best I could at the time), but it’s fascinating to see how your style and skills develop over time. This is why artists always tell newbies to practice and give it time! I’m filming the tutorial now and should have it ready to go by Friday!

Reminder, as winter wraps up in the northern hemisphere:
Don’t ever buy lady bugs (or lady birds or lady beetles or what have you) for your garden.
They’re wild-collected, not farmed. Meaning every time you purchase them, you’re actively hurting wild ladybug populations. (And the way in which they’re collected is also plenty horrible).
They are not kept with adequate nourishment or water, so by the time you buy them, ~50% of the bugs on average are either already dead or will drop dead within a few hours of you releasing them.
They DON’T EVEN WORK. Ladybugs don’t hang around in one place. The small fraction that live will LEAVE YOUR GARDEN immediately (if you want ladybugs, you have to court them with an attractive space. The end. Bitches can’t be bought).
Buy green lacewings instead. They’re sustainably farmed, they arrive as either eggs or larvae, they stick around where they’re released, they’re native, they’ll decimate aphids and other tiny pests, they’re perfect.... And they’re a pretty green color.
But don’t be the fucking asshole who buys ladybugs.

Hi all. Not feeling super well. To fill the void, here's another yin and yang concept I'm working on. I don't like the gap under the antennae, but haven't figured out what else I can do with it. 🤔
