Tony Bennett, the American pop and jazz singer who became the torchbearer for the Great American Songbook during a seven decade career, has died aged 96, his publicist said on Friday.

Bennett was perhaps best known for his 1962 signature song I Left My Heart in San Francisco as well as for staging an astonishing career comeback during the 80s and 90s that delivered him sustained popularity into old age. He won 18 Grammy awards, including a lifetime achievement award in 2001, and has sold more than 50m records worldwide.

But he continued to sing while in Germany as part of the occupying force, and in 1949, after returning home, his singing career could begin properly, first under the name Joe Bari and then as Tony Bennett.

His breakthrough came in 1951 with his first No 1, Because of You. The hits continued throughout the decade with songs such as Blue Velvet, Rags to Riches and material that looked towards the swinging sound of his childhood hero Frank Sinatra. A lifelong Democrat, Bennett was also a supporter of the civil rights movement who participated in the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches and refused to perform in apartheid-era South Africa.

Bennett remained determined to perform into his later life. Shortly after his 90th birthday he told the New York Times: “I could have retired 16 years ago, but I just love what I’m doing.”

3. Have you ever attended a Pride event or parade? If so, what was your experience like?

I have been attending Pride events consistently in some form or other since 2011 (got up to Seattle just in time for it that summer). I've been marching in Pride events pretty consistently since I want to say 2018 but I might be off by a year.

I find being in a parade audience deeply overwhelming, but still a really affirming experience. Marching in a parade, getting to see and hear the difference and connection we are making by showing representation, connecting to all those other people but also being in the bubble of the group I'm marching in, that I love. I also love smaller Pride events, small towns specialized things, the little festivals that spring up around parades.

I've been out to some degree or other, willingly or not, since 1999. The affirmation that my community is here and real that Pride events bring, and being able to access them as an adult is monumental to me. Seeing kids at Pride with their parents or supportive adults is what gives me the most positive hopeful feelings though.

4. What's your favorite LGBTQ+ movie or TV show?

I honestly don't have a good answer for this? I do have a deep love for The Birdcage of older films, but I also rarely rewatch it. But I'm often not a movie and TV shows person. And there's not a ton of right up my alley fairy tale reworkings or the exact right level or hopeful but not too goofy fantasy and scifi that is queer out there for me to be like yes this is for me.

I do love My Beautiful Laundrette, and I think that is going to be my final answer, partially because of my when and how I watched it story.

Ooh, hard question! Part of this comes down to are we talking about someone who makes queer art or someone who is themselves openly queer?

6. How do you celebrate your queer identity in your everyday life?

I am an openly queer teacher, and my work lanyard has a growing collection of queer pins. All my socks I wear on the regular are queer. I do use clothes and jewelry to show and celebrate my queerness on the regular. I feel like my queerness is something I more live out loud, proudly, and in a way that allows me to find joy more than precisely something I celebrate.

I do celebrate the times where I am able to connect with and mentor younger queer folks and I can see the difference that it has made.

8. What is one thing you wish more people understood about the LGBTQ+ community?

There is such huge variety of people within the queer community and umbrella, and there is no one fit for all of us in terms of needs. The only thing I can state for all of us is that we are deserving of respect as people and to not have to fear the world around us. Queer and LGBTQ+ and so on are umbrellas, and the people under them are facing a lot of the same hatred from society. A world that allows more freedom of expression and love and existence... that will treat us better.

9. What does the future of the LGBTQ+ movement look like to you?

In the future, getting to see more and more younger queer people who do not have to be afraid, who can celebrate themselves and their joy of existence and who they are.

On Wednesday, the 'Edge of Glory' singer performed in a wheelchair while at a secret gig in Sydney, Australia. The stunt angered disability campaigners in the US, who accused GaGa of using the chair for "shock value", WENN reports. "Since this isn't the first time she has used a wheelchair in her performances, I invite her to learn more about the 5.6 million Americans who live with paralysis," said Jesse Billauer, founder of the Life Rolls On Foundation. "They, like me, unfortunately, don't use a wheelchair for shock value." GaGa previously took to a wheelchair in the music video for her hit song 'Paparazzi'. Billauer went on to invite the singer to come to a future event hosted by Life Rolls On where she could learn more about living with disabilities. "I extend a personal invitation to Lady GaGa to attend one of our Life Rolls On events where quadriplegics and paraplegics surf, skate, and snowboard, so she can see how much is possible beyond a wheelchair." Billauer said. "Maybe that will be most shocking to her of all." GaGa was pelted with eggs as she left a nightclub in Sydney in the early hours of Sunday morning. Pokemon XY: "the most hasty and unfair generation of Pokemon"

Welcome to this new series called "CobyPop Culture" in which we will talk about music, video games or moments that are part of pop culture or just interesting topics that I would like to talk about. Today we will talk about Pokemon, specifically the 6th generation (XY), since lately there has been a great wave of fans talking about these games 👀😁

So taking advantage of the fact that Scarlet and Violet left 2 weeks ago, and that a possible return to Kalos is being rumored (if not confirmed through leaks), it's time to dust off the beautiful moments and let's travel to 2013.

2013, better known as the year that had a lot of relevance in all the 2010s, was a very Cool year in terms of several aspects; in music, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus released quite interesting albums (Prism, Artpop and Bangerz); in video games, the nintendo 3ds was the boom of that time and several franchises began to make the leap to 3d thanks to that console, pokemon among them.

The Pokemon franchise had just come out of a setback that it had had thanks to the 5th generation (Black & White; Black 2 & White 2, 2010-2011), so it began to focus too much on what would be the jump to 3d with the arrival of the next generation, so the developers got down to work, since the work that awaited them was going to be very long... And finally on October 12, 2013, the long-awaited 6th generation of Pokemon came out with the games "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y". But, Was this jump to 3d worth it? Did these games age well?

Chapter 1.-The Games

As I said before, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y came out in October 2013, I remember that at that time, my big wish was to get a 3DS and Pokemon X (Spoiler Alert: I got it for free one year later and two years later, in 2015 , I had Pokemon Omega Ruby). So far, for the moment, these games enjoyed great popularity compared to the last generation. The story was quite disappointing (even worse if we compare it to B&W), since it seemed to be a poorly done parody of what the saga was doing for years (all this before certain 2019 games came out and broke the internet for bad what were they). While the graphics were a great improvement (which in my personal humble opinion that nobody cares about: The 6th generation tried to emulate the Pixel Art era of the 5th generation but adapting it to 3d).

In terms of gameplay, the classic formula is still being used, but adding various decorations such as: Mega Evolutions, Skates (my favorite thing of this generation, a pity they never came back and maybe never will), a much more comfortable Gts (and the best of all 3d era)

In general, during 2013 and part of 2014 everyone was in love with the games, and they were already preparing for a possible "Pokemon X2"/"Pokemon Y2" coming out in 2015 along with the Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald remakes.

Until today, these games are crucified for their low difficulty and lack of challenges, they are also for other reasons that we will talk about later.

Chapter 2.- The year of discord

2015... was the pivotal year for the 6th generation, the year that ended up being disappointing for some (including me) and great joy for others.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were already out, leaving us all with speculation and rumors that "Pokemon Z" was already on the way, the rumors intensifying with each passing day... until 2016 arrived... (For those who didn't Whether you know it or not, 2016 was the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, where Sun & Moon and Pokemon Go came out) This year it killed the 6th generation without any warning, leaving several holes that ORAS tried to fix and above all leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouths.

But why did this happen? What happens is that there were several legendary Pokemon that were not put to good use (Diancie, Volcanion, Floette from AZ and above all, Zygarde), also that several places in Kalos felt empty and needed some event to make them useful...

But also the development of the "Ultimate Game" for the 6th Generation was affected by how busy 2014, 2015 and 2016 were for Gamefreak. So they chose to cancel the game.

Chapter 3.- Pokemon Z did exist? Will there be a decent return in any S/V DLC?

In 2020 or in 2019, I don't remember very well, the codes of the main Pokemon games (during the 3d era) were leaked, ranging from XY to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. What caught my attention the most were two spaces corresponding to the 6th generation, which in their description said they were games for Kalos, XY region). This blew the minds of some fans, as this would confirm that not just one, but 2 games were planned for Kalos.

the possible titles for these canceled games would have been "Pokemon X2/Y2" or "Pokemon Xz/Yz" and obviously the mascot of this game would be Zygarde (who would have a fundamental role like Girantina or Rayquaza). Also that the trio of Kalos legendaries (Diancie, Volcanion and Hoopa) would finally have an important role in the games.

What I think could have been in these games would be:

*More content for Kalos (South Kalos, more events, battle frontier, being able to enter inaccessible places) *More lore *Mega evolutions for starters (Possibly Ash-Greninja would have been Greninja's mega evolution or something like that) *High difficulty

Lately with the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet there has been a lot of speculation about the dlc, there has been too much talk (not to say confirmed) that there will be a return to a region seen before, and obviously we are all thinking of Kalos. but I also think I've heard that there will be 4 dlcs (If I'm wrong, someone please correct me haha).

And here are my predictions (I know that some will come true, others will not, or maybe none will come true, but Dreaming is free!!)

DLC No. 1.- Kalos (Complete region including southern Kalos, here we will see something similar as we saw in Kanto during the 2nd Generation, with big changes to adapt this generation to an open world)

DLC No. 2.- Galar (The same as the previous one and including the DLC islands, but this time the change will be bigger)

DLC No. 3.- Canary Islands (Most likely to happen, and knowing Game Freak and The Pokemon Company, we all know that you will find the legendary ones here for no apparent reason)

DLC No. 4.- Battle Frontier (Better not say anything and pray that it is fulfilled)

I only hope that Kalos can have a bit of justice in the 9th generation, but I also think that we should not get too excited, let's just wait for the direct that will be in February 2023...

while i have been off and on tumblr consistently for the past decade or so, my only experience on twitter that wasn’t via screenshots was an account i had for about two weeks in 2011. i have no memory of my username or any hard data on the account but i know my pfp was myself in a hideous pink fascinator and i made a few tweets about the royal wedding, sucker punch, lady gaga lyrics, how megahet i was for leo dicaprio and my last tweet was something petty and forgettable about heading off to the metal festival in saratoga where i got my first kiss. for years and years i kept meaning to make a new account and participate in the galactic senate of the internet but never got around to it and, due to such a goddamned surprising turn of events, i’m honestly grateful that my only genuine experience with twitter was as simple, earnest and small as it was. i feel like someone who took a quick tour of the titanic and had a nice time but got off the ship well before it hit the iceberg. now i suppose twitter is just for the neo-nazis, crypto bros and youtube’s only proper user support system. so long & good fite.

With each season running for 10 fifty-minute episodes, HBO is believed to have hinted that eight seasons are possible with scope for some 80 hours worth of material. At this stage, four seasons have been ordered. The first two seasons were adapted from individual books in the series. The third season adapts the entire series, allowing for flexibility to move events back and forth across the whole storyline.

Critical response to the show has mainly been positive. The first two seasons appeared on Time's Best lists for 2011 and 2012. The Washington Post also listed season one in their best 2011 TV series.

Critics reviewing the series have noted the high production values, well-realized worlds and compelling characters. Performances of the primarily British and Irish cast have been widely praised. Several critics have also noted the child talent presented in the show, with 14-year-old Maisie Williams a standout.
