An experiment with gouache that honestly, did not go where I wanted, and did not come together before I just let go and tried to have fun. Sometimes we get so caught up in the idea instead of just enjoying what we are doing.

WIP Wednesday. Yes, I am going to do the Scandinavian Folklore series. What can I say, it’s too good XD. Most of these will skew Norwegian, because I am Norwegian. Or at least, mostly.
Polar bears do not show up that much in our tales. There are two, and this one is perhaps the most famous one. This is Kvitebjørn Kong Valemon. He is a human man cursed to be a polar bear, and his story is quite popular. In the begining of the tale, he plays with a Golden wreath, which a princess wants. He agrees to give it to her, if she marries him.
Still trying to figure out background colors, and how to depict the Golden wreath.

Started working on this just after writing 2034 words on my NaNo project. Wip of Dewshine!
I feel like we tend to forget that she is just as much of an archer as both Strongbow and Nightfall.
Also. Honestly, sandals make zero sense for forest dwelling people, especially hunters.

Kvitebjørn Kong Valemon
First in a series of personal favorites in Scandinavian myths and folklore. Most of these will skew Norwegian because this is where I grew up.
This tale is a part of Norske Folkeeventyr, and consists of a man cursed to be in the form of a white bear. In the begining of the tale, he plays with a golden wreath.

Some vaugely connected doodles from my sketchbook. Started out seeing how it held inkpen. And a possible design of Gwillen, my Mahariel.
Then it just envolved from there, to a tree I am planning on drawing, and it’s leaves and its berries, and some random animals.
Really loving that side-eye from the rabbit tbh. It is delicious.

Here is something that I have been working on for a few days, when I haven’t been busy with moving out.
I also wanted to see how far I could take the new inktense pencils. Pretty darn far, it turns out! I especially loved doing the feathers, though it was really finicky. So was the shading on the parts of the body that wasn’t blue. I learned a lot by doing this image, and I am excited to keep testing this medium out.

For this worthless wonderful planet.
Part of self-portrait Sunday, and illustration of my favorite quote. I even have it as my header!
Everything I do is so that life can be just a little bit better in this place we call home. I also finally got to test out the Van Gogh watercolor set I got!

If the black dog represents depression, then the rabbit represent anxiety. I got both and I say so.

Finished illustration of Jamie’s worst nightmare. Loss of control and fire.
Man, this took forever. I was using a program called sketchbook. It was fun yet challenging. The main problem was trying to find refrences of working class clothes from 1890. Very happy with the results though.

I finally colored this picture that I started on in June. As many of y’all know, my worklife kind of imploded after the sketch, and honestly I kept fearing how it would turn out with color. I am pleased that it worked out.
Made with ink, watercolor, inktense pencils and a little bit of gouache.

Finished artwork. This piece was a good reminder that you can this salvage pieces that don’t go in your direction. It was supposed to be a best of my Van Gogh watercolors, but as it happens, the inkbrush I used was not waterproof as I expected and the ink got smeared all over the place.
I swiftly abandoned my initial idea, grabbed my India ink and just decided to have fun. I also used a white pencil from caran d’ache, some inktense pencils and some gold watercolor to add the little stars.

Character concept drawings. Trying to design a character who starts out to be the villain but it turns out they are not.
Also, enjoy that I made this in pencil only, which I only do once on a blue moon.

Been a while since I made any art. Ot poetry. Or both.
TBH, I haven’t really been in mood to do much of anything, and when I did, I often push it aside because I am «busy» with other stuff or have things «I should do instead.»
But yeah. Enjoy this person smoking, being introspective and my poetry.
