love the chicken with the red body and black head + tail feathers, is there a name for that colouration?

The name of the breed is Vorwerk!

They were developed in the early 1900s, the pattern itself was brought on from Lakenvelders (which are significantly older.)

#i prefer lakenvelder visually but the ones we had were flightly af #the vorwerks (we had 2 originally) have been more middle of the road temperamentally #but that could be individual + our vorwerks being raised w a mixed flock

Belted Galloway

A Scottish breed of cow. Mostly they are kept for meat. The iconic stripe down their middle is supposedly due to cross breeding with the Dutch lakenvelder cow. There was a point when belted Galloways were endangered due to the foot and mouth diseases in England (as were many other types of cows) but since then they’ve been taken off the endangered species list.

Vorwerk chickens expressing the dominant white gene. Vorwerks, a relative to the Lakenvelder, Usually have black hackles and tails. Dominant White inhibits the expression of black eumelanin which turns feathers that are supposed to be black to white. Here is the typical coloration for this breed.

The birds up top were created by crossing a vorwerk to a red pyle colored bantam.

Het Station Rotterdam Centraal. 1957

Het Station Rotterdam Centraal was een stationsgebouw dat tussen 1957 en 2007 diende als het Centraal Station van Rotterdam. Het gebouw was ontworpen door de architect Van Ravesteyn. Het was onderdeel van de wederopbouw van Rotterdam. Het gebouw werd in 1957 geopend. In 2007 werd het gesloten en het jaar erop gesloopt om plaats te maken voor de nieuwbouw die in 2014 geopend werd. In 2007 maakten dagelijks zo'n 110.000 reizigers gebruik van het Centraal Station in Rotterdam.

In 1954 kwam de Nederlandse Spoorwegen met plannen om een nieuw station te bouwen als uiteinde van een nieuwe verkeersader. Het station zou ook het (tweede) Station Rotterdam Delftsche Poort vervangen dat door het bombardement van 14 mei 1940 ernstig beschadigd was geraakt. Tussen 1941 en 1953 maakte architect Sybold van Ravesteyn zijn ontwerpen voor het nieuwe station.[1] Daarvoor had Van Ravesteyn inspiratie opgedaan bij het modernisme dat bij Italiaanse stationsbouw gebruikt werd. De inspiratie was terug te vinden in de flauwe bocht van het gebouw aan het het stationsplein en gevelopbouw waarbij gewerkt is met de werking van licht en schaduw. Het hal had een schalenplafond, de betonnen overkapping van het perron was sierlijk. Bij zijn eerste ontwerp had Van Ravesteyn nog een centrale toren, maar de gemeente Rotterdam drong aan om een meer moderne dan klassieke opzet, waardoor Van Ravesteyn in vervolgontwerpen zich meer richtte op het functionalisme. Toen de Nederlandse Spoorwegen in 1954 kwam met de uiteindelijke bouwplannen, duurde het tot 13 maart 1957 voordat het nieuwe station werd opgeleverd. Op 21 mei 1957 werd het officieel geopend.

Voor 2025 werd gerekend op 320.000 reizigers per dag.[3] Om deze toename aan te kunnen was een nieuw station nodig. Ook was het bestaande station, met name de reizigerstunnel, te klein geworden om het grote aantal passagiers te verwerken. In 2004 werd begonnen met een totale herbouw van het station en zijn omgeving om het toenemende verkeer van treinen, bijvoorbeeld de hogesnelheidstrein tussen Amsterdam, Brussel en Parijs, te kunnen verwerken en om de RandstadRail zijn plaats te kunnen geven. In juni 2004 gaven Prorail en de Gemeente Rotterdam de opdracht aan Team CS, een coöperatie tussen Benthem Crouwel Architekten, MVSA Meyer &Van Schooten Architecten, en West 8 om de plannen uit te werken tot een ontwerp voor het nieuwe centraal station.

Op 16 mei 2006 onthulde burgemeester Opstelten een kunstwerk van Onno Poiesz bestaande uit het woord EXIT, dat achter de ramen van de voorgevel bevestigd werd. Een deel van de letters "CENTRAAL STATION" die tot aan de sluiting van het station op het gebouw stonden is door Peter Hopman en Margien Reuvekamp van Bureau Lakenvelder in een andere volgorde gezet zodat zij tot aan de sloop van het gebouw de ode "TRAAN LATEN" toonden. De definitieve sluiting van het verouderde station vond plaats op 2 september 2007, in aanwezigheid van burgemeester Ivo Opstelten, om een begin te kunnen maken met de afbraak. Tussen 16 januari 2008 en eind maart 2008 werd het stationsgebouw geheel afgebroken.

Voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog had Rotterdam geen echt Centraal Station, maar vier stations in en rond het centrum: Delftse Poort (richting Schiedam, Den Haag HS en Amsterdam CS), Beurs (richting Dordrecht), Maas (richting Gouda en Utrecht) en Hofplein (richtingen Den Haag HS/Scheveningen). Treinen uit de richting Utrecht eindigden van 1858 tot 1953 op station Maas. Sindsdien worden zij via de Ceintuurbaan (met stopplaats Rotterdam Noord) naar het Centraal Station geleid.

Ninja chicken attack

They all gave each other pats on the back and made weak jokes about raccoons and their lust for poultry. "Come come, ladies, we don't have all night, so let's get the show on the road." All the hens lined up with weapons in wings, ninja headbands tied, belted, armed and thoroughly ready for action. "Alright, everybody, are we ready to go?" Lucy inquired. Her eggs were a remarkable shade of pinkish-copper, with rock-hard shells. A big sister to everybody, she gave them lots of advice whether they wanted it or not. Sporting the title "Silver-Laced Wyandotte," each of her white feathers was neatly edged in iridescent black. Lucy was the fluffiest, fanciest hen in the chicken tractor. Her fluffed-out cheeks gave her the appearance of a cute clown, but she was not a chicken.um, well, you know what I mean. Pointed blue eggs with rounded bottoms were her specialty. She belonged to Briana's sister Charlotte. And she was the only one who layed good-old white eggs. She clucked with a distinct Dutch accent. Buttery golden plumage and a black tail distinguished her from the other chickens. Jacinta was a tiny, dainty, shy little Lakenvelder. Mary sighed for romance, but was afraid she would have to be a spinster. Their habit of serenading their harems at somewhat ungodly hours did not go over so well sometimes. But unfortunately, there were no roosters on Mercer Island. A true beauty queen, Mary liked to strut. A South-American model with flawless form, she popped out army-green eggs with freckles, which her owner Adam gobbled with joy. Mary was a picture-perfect Ameraucana, with blue feet, a green tail, and a little pink comb. Her sleek red-brown plumage was carefully dusted and preened, and her pointed little tail was held at a saucy angle. She was not as beautiful as Lucy or Mary, but she was Briana's favorite chicken. One of the "boss" chickens, feisty and cocky, nobody got in her way. Chicken spit is a wonderful metal-shiner.Įmma was a Black Sex-Link. Something has to be done." Emma saw how her words were filling her listeners with courage and inspiration-as well as desperation. "We just can't allow this to go on anymore. We have to go out there and just do it," said Emma.
