Law's wedding day
Fluffy, fluffy sfw story about Law x fem!reader getting married. In this first part it's the evening before this great event and he thinks about his past.
Tumblr media
Tomorrow was the big day, Law would marry the love of his life and everyone he ever cared about was there. It was absolutely overwhelming to him, he couldn't fathom that this was really happening. There had been enough moments in his life when this seemed like a fever dream. First he thought he wouldn't live that long - than he was driven by revenge. But he found someone that completely changed his priorities and turned his life upside down, for the better.
He sat in his room in the polar tang and dreaded the tradition that he had to be apart from her on the night before their wedding. It was the first time in months that he had to endure a night without her and the loneliness didn't really help his anxiety.
His gaze fell on his suit hanging on the wall, ready for the big day. It suddenly seemed to big to fill for him. Too much meaning entwined within. Would he be a good husband? What did he know of love or family?
Like so often when he felt alone and had no one to turn to, he looked up to the night sky. It made him think of all the people that where gone. And in moments like these, it felt like a conduit to the past.
"Hey Cora-San, how are you?", he began talking to the stars above him. He didn't have a picture or a reminder of him, so he just spoke to the same sky he had once shared with his savior. "You wouldn't believe what happened. I asked her to marry me and she said yes! I will be a husband. I will have a family.", he happily announced, imagining Corazon smoking on his bed. "I'm really proud of you Law!", he would say. "I knew you could do it! You're free!", he would probably add proudly.
He would be so proud, Law thought as the image of his dear friend faded and he was alone again. I wish he could be there when I say my vows. I wish he would slip and fall on the dancefloor the whole evening. The thought made him chuckle. But he won't.
Like many he'd cared about - he won't be there. It has been so long, Law could only guess what his parents might be like on his wedding day. Would his father have made a far too long, awkward speech, spiked with typical dad jokes? He hoped so. Would his mother have cried when he kissed his bride? Maybe. And Lami...? He didn't even know who she would have become. But he was sure she would have been unnerving and wild and absolutely wonderful.
As his thoughts where slipping towards all he had lost, there was a knock on the door. "Law?", Bepo's familiar murmur came from beneath the door. "Law, are you awake?"
"Yes, what is it?", Law answered.
"I can't sleep, I am so nervous", the blushing bear confessed as he opened the door. "Can we...I mean can we just...talk?"
"Sure", Law pointed at his bed and his first men sat down with a groan. "Aren't you nervous?", he asked shyly.
"A little", Law answered, raking his hands through his hair. "It is a big day after all."
"It is", Bepo said.
They sat in silence for a few moments, the huge mink staring at his fumbling paws. "I hope I don't mess up my speech", he said softly.
"And even if, it would be funny", Shachi's voice said from the half open door. "Mind if we join you?", Penguin asked while already pressing past his buddy.
Law knows that he won't be able to stop them and points towards the bed. All three of them where sitting there squeezed on his small bed in the small cabin, Law sitting at his desk. They brought some grog, for the nerves and where in the highest of spirits. "MAN LAW I am so HAPPY", Shachi announces to half the ship. "This will be an awesome wedding! I'm gonna eat and drink so much!", Penguin chimes in. It seemed to inspire Bepo, the bear seemed happier and more relaxed. "Oh, I look forward to my suit. Law and me have similar outfits. It will be so great!", his black eyes gleamed with unfiltered joy.
A chuckle escaped Law's throat, his gloomy thoughts gone. "Now you smile Law, but wait until I tell everyone in my speech what a weird kid you were!", Shachi joked. "What?! At my wedding? In front of my bride?", Law shook his fist. "Like the story when you tried to use your powers to fly and hit your head so hard you almost past out?"
Penguin, Shachi and Bepo exploded in laughter - it was so infectious Law couldn't help but smile, too. "If you do that it's toilet cleaning duty for a month!", Law reprimanded him.
"What's going on here, you guys are so loud I can barely sleep!", Hakugan stood in the door frame with his hands on his hips, his white mask gleaming like a ghost in the shadows.
"Yeah, you look so tired, man!", Penguin teases and they laugh some more.
"Jeez boys, can you tune it down?", Ikakkus locks appeared behind Hakugan. "If you're throwing a party at least tell us?", she complained. Law could already see more figures in the hallway as both of them squeezed into the tiny room, too.
"It's getting really crowded in here", Law said, jumping a little in his chair when Jean Barts giant face appeared in the porthole of Law's room.
"Hey, I want to party, too!", his muffled voice could be heard from outside. "There is no party here", Law screamed at the crowded cabin. "Party? We're in!", Law could hear even more of his crew from outside. This was getting out of hand - everyone pushed into his room.
Unnerved, he summoned a room that engulfed the ship and teleported everyone, including himself, on deck, so he could finally breathe again. When everyone thumbed onto the polar tang, there was a short moment of confusion - until Penguin screamed "PARTY ON DECK", followed by a collective "YEAH!", as everyone started bustling around to get tables, food and drink outside to get the party really going. Law stood there, baffled, as he watched his crew.
They where a great bunch, he would be getting married to a great girl. On the horizon, he could see the lights of the straw hat's boat. They were great friends. Fully realising that he was surrounded by his friends - his found family, Law couldn't be happier. For the first time in so many years, he could hardly wait what the future would bring him. With a laugh, he joined his crew.
Tumblr media
In the next part, Law's wedding will take place. There will be quite a lot of fun. Will Bepo mess up his speech? What will the straw hat crew do? Who will take the microphone and sing karaoke?
Like this one? Check out my masterlist!

hey, I know you've posted so many resources about sailing, but I'm pretty desperate for a change and I really would like to know. if I wanted to get into it, right now, as someone who lives on a different coast and has zero experience, how can I take to the sea? I wouldn't ask if i wasn't uh. yeah desperate is the only word I can use
Key West! I can vouch for the schooner When and If, and I'm aware of a few others (although no experience on them personally) - the Spirit of Independence, America 2.0, the Jolly II Roger, and maybe the Appledore II and Appledore Star if they're down there this winter. Outside of Florida, the privateer Lynx is in St Simon's Island Georgia for the winter. As a boat which does educational sails, it's good to learn on and they can always use crew.
And here's a few more replies to recent posts asking about winter work/maintenance work. SEA - Sea Education Foundation, LAMI - Los Angeles Maritime Institute, Meerwald - schooner AJ Meerwald. Maintenance work can be a good way to ease into familiarity with the ship, crew, and boat vocab, and as incognita-soul mentions, it pretty much guarantees you a spot on the sailing crew when the season begins.I think Pride of Baltimore II also does winter maintenance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Find their websites, find their application form or simply their email, and send out a resume. Since you don't have sailing experience, then where possible you should highlight teamwork, an ability to learn on the job, people-oriented skills from retail/customer service/hospitality, and any manual labor or outdoors hobbies. Basically, you're trying to show that you work well with others, you're willing and able to learn new skills, and that you have a realistic idea of what the job entails: physical effort, teamwork, and tourist wrangling. Where your work experience falls short in showing this, state it outright in your email, which can double as a cover letter. And don't be afraid to toss in any odd things you're competent in. Tall ships are a good place to be a jack of all trades, sitting as they are at the intersection of tourism and hospitality, education, and historic restoration/preservation, on top of the actual sailing itself.

Meditations of St. Padre Pio – Part 4
Padre Pio was at the height of his priestly apostolate with multitudes of pilgrims visiting him, for his Mass, to confess to him, and to ask him for prayers and counsel. He was a master of souls; he directed everyone with penetrating words full of deep meaning. His series of "Meditations" was the first complete text of Padre Pio's thoughts. These texts consists of Padre Pio's meditations upon the fundamental dogmas of the Catholic faith. The Immaculate Conception and the Incarnation of Jesus. He then relives Jesus' agony in the garden of olives. Next he reflects on the human condition, and on our need to turn to God in the passing of our days. These are not conventional texts; they are reflections derived from the contemplation of the absolute Truth. “Mary Immaculate” is a more theological text. The others are more human and simple.
Padre Pio, in the first years of his residence in San Giovanni Rotondo (1918 – 1920), when he was freer from the care of souls, wrote a few meditations for his novices and his spiritual daughters of the Franciscan Third Order. They were the text of his lectures or instructions that he gave weekly as their Spiritual Director. After that, between the years 1925 – 1928, Padre Pio compiled other meditations. Fr. Agostino of San Marco in Lamis affirms it in his "Diary:" The Provincial, Fr. Bernardo of Alpicella, once suggested to Padre Pio to “compile a few meditations for the principal feasts of the year for our seminarians.” When Padre Pio was shown the possibility of publishing these meditations, he said: "I have written these things for myself." But, when it was explained to him that "they would do a lot of good to our souls" he smilingly said: "if it is as you say, bonum est diffu sivum sui (good, by its nature, is destined to be spread).
Meditation - The Christmas Season - The Epiphany of the Lord
J. M. J. – D. F. C. Note: The initials J. M. J. – D. F. C. Stands for Jesus, Mary, Joseph – Dominic, Francis, Catherine
Consider, O my soul, how the three Wise Men, entirely engrossed in their astronomical studies, saw a new star appear in the heavens, how they admired in this new heavenly body an unusual and mysterious light. Already informed that the appearance of a new star would announce to them the coming on earth of the expected Messiah, a much more brilliant light illuminated their minds while the interior action of grace moved them and filled them with fervor. Promptly, therefore, when the divine call came, they abandoned all things including the comfort of their palaces, and set out on a long, rough and uncertain journey at an unfavorable season of the year. They hurried in search of the One who had called them, they hastened to adore him and present him with the honors due to the Supreme King of Heaven and of the entire universe.
The star, the symbol of faith, started them on their way and guided them towards the one who called them interiorly by his grace, for no one can come to him unless drawn by him. Jesus called the poor simple shepherds by means of the Angels so as to show himself to them. He called the Wise Men by means of their own science and all of them, moved by the interior influence of his grace, hastened to him to adore. He calls us all by divine inspirations and communicates with us by means of his grace. How many times has he not extended to us also his loving invitation? How promptly have we responded? Dear God! I blush with shame and am filled with confusion at having to answer such a question. How diligently has he endeavored to make his way into our hearts and to bind them to his own, showing no disgust for our wretchedness.
But what is man that you should be so mindful of him. You leave your royal palace in heaven to come in search of the sheep that has strayed. You manifest yourself to man and by the impulses of your grace you call him continually, you draw his heart towards you so that close to you he may know, love and adore you. Are you perhaps in need of him in order to be completely happy in your paradise? No, it is your goodness alone which inclines you towards him, it is your love which is pleased to pour itself out and to win him in order to make him happy with that same happiness with which you yourself are filled.
O Jesus, we are just wretched non-entity and you seek us for this reason, to bestow on us your divine life by the operation and communication of your grace. O Jesus, who can resist you? Poor as I am, let me ask of you all I need in order to please you, all that is yours, all that delights you. Give me and preserve in me that living faith which will make me believe and act for your love alone. This is the first gift I offer you and united with the holy Magi, prostrate at your feet, without the slightest human respect, I acknowledge you before the whole world as our one and only God.
II
The Magi reached Jerusalem where they found no exterior sign, as they had expected, of celebration of the wonderful coming of the new King. As they entered the city their guiding star disappeared from view. Their faith was put severely to the test but they did not falter.
Firm in their belief they asked for news of the newborn Messiah. The worldlings of the city, engrossed in their own affairs, lived in darkness and error and made no attempt to know the things of God. They gave no thought to their eternal salvation nor did they show any eagerness to learn about the coming of the Messiah, expected and desired by the nations and whose advent had been foretold and announced by the Prophets. The Magi, however, obedient to the impulse of grace and fervor, rooted in their hope of finding the One whom his own people refused to recognize and had indeed rejected, made their way to Herod who would be bound to know the birthplace of the King of the Jews. But here they were to be disappointed, because Herod knew nothing either, and hiding his wickedness and his fear that this new King so greatly desired by Jacob and his descendants might contest his throne, he feigned a religious zeal and inquired as to the place in which according to the prophecies this King was to be born and if the time foretold by Daniel had yet come. When he had ascertained this he informed the Magi and urged them to come back when they had found him, that he too might come and worship him and pay the tribute of honor due to this King. What cunning! What impiety was hidden beneath this feigned zeal. What faith on the part of the holy Magi.
Aware now of the place where the Messiah was to be born they set out once more, firm in their conviction that they would find the One who conceals himself but calls to him those hearts which really seek him with ardent love. They had hardly left Jerusalem when the star reappeared and went before them so that they might not lose their way. We too are guided by faith and by its light we follow safely the path leading to God, to the place where he dwells, just as the holy Magi guided by the star, the symbol of faith, reached their desired goal.
The star stood still over the cave, and enlightened by divine grace they recognized that dwelling as the palace of the newborn King of Heaven. Greatly moved, they entered the cave, but what do they see to make them recognize the divine King, the Messiah? Are they sure in the presence of such poverty that the shivering Infant they see there in the tender embrace of a maiden is their true God? What is there to show that he is such? What makes them bow down in profound adoration before him? What induces them to show him that they have come from afar to adore and venerate him as the King of kings, when no heavenly court is there to do him honor?
But Jesus has called them in order to manifest himself to them. He has attracted them so that they may recognize him. Their interior emotion causes them to fall prostrate before him. The inner movements of grace reveal to their souls that this tender little Child is God and man, the true Messiah. The rapidity and frequency of their heartbeats confirmed them in the knowledge that he is there God Incarnate. Bowing down before him they humbly present their royal dignity to the Eternal God who has taken the form of a Child. They acknowledge and adore him, they offer him their love and pay him regal honor. They place themselves beneath his divine dominion and offer him all they have and all that is theirs. They kiss ecstatically those tiny divine feet at the invitation of his gracious Mother and when they have given vent to the transport of their love–inflamed hearts, they offer him three gifts: incense in recognition of his divinity; myrrh as man, gold as King.
Warned by an angel in a dream that they are to return to their own country by a different route in order to evade the wickedness of Herod, they left Bethlehem, but their hearts remained there. Burning with zeal for God's glory they became his apostles and by word and example spread among their own people the sweet odor of Jesus Christ, manifesting the divine wonders they had seen with their own eyes and experienced in their hearts. Free from all human respect they professed their faith and their hope in that Child who was to be the Savior of men. By his merits they were to enter one day with all the followers of the Gospel to share his glory in heaven, the home of the Blessed.
Love admits no delay. From the moment of their arrival in their own country they spared no pains to make known and loved the One who had won their hearts by grace, wounding them with that love which yearns to spread itself, since the heart is too small to contain it and longs to communicate it to others.
O Jesus, with the holy Magi we adore you, with them we offer you the three gifts, acknowledging and adoring you as our God humiliated for love of us, as man clothed in fragile flesh in order to suffer and die for us. Placing our hope in your merits we are certain to achieve eternal glory. By our love we recognize you as the King of our hearts and we beg you in your infinite goodness to deign to accept what you yourself have bestowed on us. Be pleased to transform our hearts as you transformed those of the holy Magi and enable our hearts, which are unable to contain the ardor of your love, to manifest you to the souls of our brothers and to win them for you. Your Kingdom is not far off. Make us sharers in your triumph on earth so that we may participate later in your heavenly Kingdom. Since we are unable to contain the communication of your divine love, make us preach your divine kingship by our example and our works. Takes possession of our hearts now so that they may be yours for all eternity. Never let us stray from beneath your scepter and may neither life nor death have any power to separate us from you. May our life be a life drawn from you in great draughts of love so that it may be poured out on mankind. Make us die at every moment so that our whole life may be in you and our hearts may be entirely filled with you.

A mutual acquaintance wants to try getting one of those fancy pens, got any suggestions for newcomers?
Absolutely!
Despite me always pining for the super pricy fancy pens, some of the best pens you can own imo are less than $20 USD off the bat, and while the "nicer" ones out there are. over that price, you don't really need that to get a really good first experience. I'll offer some super easy pens, some more intermediate pens, and some inks! This is going to be a long ride, so buckle up!
If you don't know where to start and are intimidated by bottled ink and instead want a pen that can write right away, I recommend the Pilot Varsity! You can get them at Michaels here in the US, and theyre slowly becoming more popular in retail shops like Walmart.
Tumblr media
Classic steel nib, not much flex because it's steel, but it writes pretty sturdily. I really like that it comes in different colors. They're disposable, so if you don't like them then you dont gotta keep 'em, and if you bust the nib by accident (we all have at least once), you aren't going to have to sell a kidney to replace it like you might need to with pricier pens.
If you want a pen you can put ink cartridges into, or just want a good workhorse of a pen, i HIGHLY recommend the Platinum Preppy. The one I own was $14 USD and came with a cartridge of water soluble black ink. For $4 USD, I got 4 cartridges of Platinum's Carbon Black ink, which is waterproof and smooth! Very versatile!
Tumblr media
I REALLY like this one. Ive never had the ink dry out even when i had tucked away for like a month, and if you ever want to use it with bottled ink, you can get a Platinum converter and use whatever fountain pen safe ink you dream of :] This pen only comes in F as far as I know (which is a western EF), but the chinese market has a version called the Platinum Meteor that comes in EF and has a cute shooting star on the nib :] Back when I started writing this I had lost mine for like a month but just found it and it wrote just fine the second i opened it up. The only thing I DISLIKE is that the converter cartridges are sold separately and you HAVE to buy platinum brand for this pen. I already have two bc of my other platinum pens, but. Yanno. Its still annoying to HAVE to do that.
Tumblr media
Similarly, the Kaküno is fantastic! all the above statements, but it has the added benefit of having a cute face on the nib as well as some cute collabs sometimes :] They're also about $14-$16 USD. They take Pilot cartridges in various colors, which are $3-$4 USD and Pilot converters.
I highly recommend the platinum preppy for the full fountain pen experience! It's not mega-expensive as pens go, so if you dont like it you havent sunk hundreds of dollars into a tool.
Lamy is having quality control issues that no one seems to want to contest because of their popularity, and the recent "no bro its totally the same color as the old popular one trust me" ink fiasco. TWSBI is another brand thats normally recommended and while theyre good pens, theyre shitheads as a company and like to use their muscle to bully both retailers and also smaller pen companies. I dont recommend either brand right now.
NOW, ONTO INK AND PAPER:
Your nib, paper, and ink are pretty important. fountain pens dont like rough paper, but they handle it better the larger they are (M, B). Dry inks will not always play nice in fine pens (Ef, F), and an EF pen will eat the shit out of rough paper and can get clogged. If you can get your hands on Rhodia paper to practice, good! If not most sketchbooks will tolerate F pens in my experience. Stillman and Birn are my workhorse sketchbooks and the pens work fine in all of their paper styles, but Hobby Lobby's sketchbooks also handle it well, as do BLICK's colorful leather sketchbooks. Don't Buy Moleskine. If you want to get really good ink effects (ie, you bought an ink with glitter or it has some cool effect like sheening or shading), tomoe river paper is hailed as the gold standard, but you can get similar effects on Rhodia or Clairfontaine paper, which afaik is easier to get ahold of overseas (cant speak for other countries on the US continent, but I will say I saw more clairfontaine in france than here on the us).
NOW FOR INK. my favorite part :] :
For both Waterproof and Black ink, i recommend Platinum's Carbon Black. I think it's pigment-based, unlike most dye-based inks, so it can be tough to clean out of your pen if it dries, but its noting a lil soap and water cant fix :3 It's benefit is that it comes in cartridges usable with platinum pens, so you dont need a whole bottle if you dont want one.
For color inks, I really like Pilot's Iroshizuku line. It is a WET ink and is not waterproof, but they come in cool bottles and pretty colors. I own Ajisai, Shinkai, and samples of Momiji, Murasaki Shikibu, Chikurin, Kosumosu, and Asagao. I use them both to sketch AND to color things and write. My workhorse non-waterproof color, the one i draw most in, is the Sailor Studio 343, but the sailor manyo line is also great! If you like and/or miss scented inks, De Atramentis has a line of them!
Be careful with inks that have glitter. I own the J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor and its glorious but if you leave it in your pen...thousands soaks hell attack. That being said if it would entice you, treat yourself to a fun and shiny ink! I have Colorverse Scorpii Glistening and its really pretty! Diamine has an excellent range that are easier on your pen but I dont have experience with them ngl.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD YOU BUY ANYTHING FROM NOODLERS. aside from having a shithead of a company leader, their inks are actually pretty volatile and can blow up both vintage and modern pens and im speaking from experience even though I used to use their eel bulletproof black and a waterproof blue one. I ended up using the blue ink to dye a cu chulainn wig darker for a wip alter cu cosplay. the last ink i bought, Tchaikovsky, also had a strange and suspicious stank about it.
Buying inks in bottles can be super expensive, but Goulet Pens sells 2ml samples that you can buy a shitload of and try them all out! I try to get new samples on the rare occasion when i need a new bottle of my favorites :> I'll probably buy a full bottle of Sailor Nekoyanagi, Pilot Iroshizuku Chikurin, or Diamine Writer's Blood next.
Tumblr media
I hope this helps! I had to edit it a few times over the course of the past few weeks bc i went on an entire tangent about bootleg pens I like and uh. realized thats both overly complicated for the base question/bootleg pens tend to need tweaking to work nice. that being said, i'll say it quickly: buying lil nibs from aliexpress has actually worked pretty well for me n my tswbi knockoff (lanbitou 3059) has a fude nib i got that's bent to allow brushlike strokes! but I donmt recommend it for a first pen bc it required some grease and a nib tweak upon purchase and dries p easily bc of the cap.

New pen day! I was gifted this Lamy AL-Star by my friend who didn't use it, and I bought the Platinum Meteor off of Stationery Pal, since it was cheap and I wanted to try it out.
A note on the names first: so far, I've named all my pens after Don Giovanni characters. Aminta is not in Mozart's opera, but she is a figure like Mozart's Zerlina in the original play by Tirso de Molina. So this does mean that I have two pens named after Zerlina-like characters. Because I love her.
More notes on the writing experience after the cut.
The AL-Star (Elvira) is really a very nice pen. The model is aluminum, hence the name, instead of plastic like the Safari is. They have the same cartridge/converter model, but I only have one converter between them, so I'm using my cartridges on Elvira for now. This one is blue, and I'm not a huge fan of the color, but it came free with the pen. The nib is lovely with a little bit of feedback like the Safari nib, which I happen to enjoy. I almost feel like it might be smoother than the Safari, but I haven't used this nib extensively yet, so that might not be true. The grip is also thinner, which fits me better (I have very small hands).
The Platinum Meteor (Aminta) costed like 4 dollars, which is why I bought it. And it writes pretty well! There's not too much feedback and it writes smoothly. I found the converter to be a little confusing since there were no instructions included in the packaging, but I figured it out after watching some youtube videos. Right now, I'm using the cartridge that came with it. My one issue with the pen is that there's not really a comfortable grip on the bottom of the pen, which forces you to hold it higher up. That being said, it's a very good pen for the price.

The stationary series
Part IV
Mumbo Jumbo and ImpulseSV
Synopsis: a series which depicts my view of what type of stationary each of the hermits would use, and how their office would look! To avoid a massive post this has become a series. Under the headcanons of each hermit I’ve included a list of stationary mentioned for reference.
Tumblr media
Mumbo Jumbo:
He is chaotic, somewhat of a mess, and definitely would not feel responsible enough for a fountain pen
It's mostly due to the fragile nature of the pens, and he knows that he would ruin it somehow
He's tried it out, which is how he became certain it wasn't anything for him. When he would use the pen, the nib and cap would be filled with leaked ink, creating quite a mess, or the pen wouldn't write because of some blockage forcing him to clean it again and somehow there are issues with the nib itself too now
He's given up to be honest
The fountain pen he liked, and therefore tried out, was the Lamy Nexx in dark grey (picture at the bottom for reference)
That was before he found out a lot of fountain pens get released in sets with ball pens and mechanical pencils
Those are actually way more up his alley, and so he finds himself using those instead
They give him the elegance and aesthetic he searches for without the problems of a fountain pen
Whenever he is out, he always carries his own set off ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil, kept safe is a small leather pouch (picture at the bottom for reference)
He has a separate set he carries with him than what he uses when at his base, and to keep the two apart he prefers to keep a blue ink in the rollerball pen he carries with him and a black ink for the one stationary at his desk
Not that he has ever needed to keep the two apart, but if he does, and when he does, he'll be able to
His mechanical pencils do not get the same treatment, and both carry the same HB refills
While on his way, in his little leather pouch hidden safely in the inside pocket of his suit jacket, he keeps a Lamy all-star rollerball pen in the colour anthracite, because it is the closest to the Nexx fountain pen he wanted at first, and a Caran d'Ache 849 FixPencil in 3mm width (picture at the bottom for reference)
He likes the sleek look of the pen, the metallic shine that almost reminds him of his redstone contraptions, and the slight resistance the rollerball has on the paper
For the pencil, he likes the sleek look the solid black design gives, but above all the patterning on it which makes it easy to hold and use for longer periods at a time which is good when he is out of his base. On his desk, where he sketches new additions to his vault, writes his material lists and keeps track of things, there is a Montblanc Meisterstück classic rollerball pen, as well as a Caran d'Ache Ecridor mechanical pencil (picture at the bottom for reference)
These pens are, and definitely feel, more luxurious
He prefers to keep these at his desk to avoid any damage to the pens, since they have adapted to his hand after copious amounts of use it is harder to replace them and find the same comfort in them, unlike the pens he carries with him which are very replaceable, so he doesn't have to worry about any damages
He doesn't really have much of an office yet, more of a base camp where he keeps his stuff and creates his plans for the vault, so for now the most of his stationary are on a bedside table and occasionally on the crafting table
He has a chest for his papers and plans, keeping them relatively tidy when he binds them together, when he doesn't however - which is most     of the time - they are everywhere and anywhere
Even though he writes a lot of things down, he usually has to do this at least twice as he keeps losing the original ones in a quickly growing chest monster around his temporary base whilst he works on the vault
Tumblr media
Left to right: Lamy Nexx in dark grey, Lamy all-star roller ball anthracite, Montblanc Meisterstück Classique Rollerball, Galen leather two pen flap pouch, Caran d'Ache 849 FixPencil 3.0 MM, Caran d'Ache Ecridor mechanical pencil
ImpulseSV:
His dwarven aesthetic, the black and golden - mixed with lava- colour palette, if anything he has trouble choosing a fountain pen that he likes the most
He is a dwarf, but not just any dwarf, he is rich
As a businessman from varying businesses and a lot of farms that give him the material wealth he seeks, he has no problems affording the most extravagant fountain pen to use whilst bookkeeping the costs, earnings and his savings in different notebooks
Writing out contracts for other hermits, what he has gifted and to whom, his earnings, the costs, output schedules of different farms, stock in his shops, and various other things
He is tidy in his organising, keeping track of everything in designated notebooks, each labelled with specific titles, subtitles and some are even colour coded
In his office there is a bookcase with archives of past seasons, or simply past notebooks that have gotten filled up
That, with various other books he keeps, is all displayed in his office in a wall of bookshelves, they are grand, made of the darkest wood to match the aesthetic of the entire base
On his desk however, which is just as grand as the room itself, there is a clear organisation
The notebooks he is currently using are neatly organised in drawers on the side of the desk, a stack of loose papers with varying purposes are     neatly piled up on the edge of his desk,
Scissors, tape, a stapler, and other various things you may just need to have on hand when working, are all slightly scattered over his desk, though none on the pristine clean black desk mat he has to prevent indents on the desk below and make writing on singular papers more comfortable
In another drawer, he keeps the most recent full notebooks to look back on and compare when needed
A lot of the other drawers are filled to the brim with papers, sketches for his base, statues to have in his base, shop ideas, shop designs, texture ideas, block palettes, just everything, these drawers keep every creative idea he has ever had during this season
Despite the rest of the office those drawers have no organisation, no planning and are quite chaotic
The ideas he uses at the moment are displayed on the black desk mat
One drawer is reserved for various pots of ink and other, less fancy, fountain pens he uses for daily necessities
For these, he likes to use the Visconti homo sapiens, just like Doc who actually gifted the pen to him after a gift Impulse had given him instead, a Parker 51, a Parker IM, and a Leonardo Momento Magico (reference pictures are below)
Though the colour palette of these pens might be similar, the colours of the ink are certainly not, which is partially how he keeps things colour coded, and he uses a variety of ink colours, mainly from the brand J.Herbin (picture below)
His prized possession, however, is a golden fountain pen called the Gaia high luxury fountain pen from Omas, which he only uses for important deals, signatures, and special occasions

François Leterrier in A Man Escaped (Robert Bresson, 1956) Cast: François Leterrier, Charles LeClainche, Jacque Ertaud, Maurice Beerbeck, Roland Monod. Screenplay: Robert Bresson, Bbased on a memoir by André Devigny. Cinematography: Léonce-Henri Burel. Production design: Pierre Charbonnier. Film editing: Raymond Lamy.  "I don't laugh," Fontaine (François Leterrier) says. No, he doesn't. In fact, throughout A Man Escaped, Leterrier's expression rarely changes. But we always know the determination, the doubt, the calculation, the suspicion that's going through his head, thanks to Leterrier's use of his eyes.* But as Eisenstein taught us so long ago, montage is responsible for so much of what we feel and witness in movies, and we also have to credit Raymond Lamy's editing as well as Léonce-Henri Burel's cinematography and of course Robert Bresson's direction for making A Man Escaped, based on the memoirs of André Devigny, a member of the French Resistance who was imprisoned by the Nazis, one of the most powerful excursions into a man's soul ever put on film. The word "minimalism" was not so much in use when A Man Escaped was made as it is today, but if ever a film was minimalist in avoiding conventional movie tricks like background music or flashy camerawork, it's this one. Bresson's restraint as a filmmaker serves to keep us in Fontaine's head, blotting out all but his grim determination to escape. When Fontaine murders the prison guard, we don't see it. We barely even hear it. We are watching a blank wall when it happens. But we hold our breaths while it does. Today we think of the prison-break movie genre in terms of films like Stalag 17 (Billy Wilder, 1953), The Great Escape (John Sturges, 1963), Escape From Alcatraz (Don Siegel, 1979), and The Shawshank Redemption (Frank Darabont, 1994), with stars like William Holden, Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood, Tim Robbins, and Morgan Freeman, with action leavened by comic relief and made more tense by grotesque and sadistic guards, and underscored by mood music. What Bresson gives us is a film with no stars that concentrates largely on the face of the man planning his breakout and whose only music is the occasional underscoring with the "Kyrie" from Mozart's C-minor mass. And it works far better than those more famous and conventional movies. *Leterrier went on to become a film director and writer. He made only one more film appearance as an actor, in the small role of André Malraux in Alain Resnais's Stavisky... (1974).

i stupidly pulled too hard on my new yellow lamy safari and the whole nib unit came out. i stupidly pushed it in the wrong way and it got stuck to the point the feed and section were irreparable so it had to be chucked. i thankfully have some spare parts and i made this:
Tumblr media
i like the look of the all-yellow Safari but the translucent section of an al-star looks much nicer. happy accident i guess! i did salvage the nib before throwing the feed. i already have a few spares but they can come in handy for times like this.
don’t let my stupidity put you off buying a lamy safari btw; they’re great, relatively cheap pens with good build quality when you don’t brute force something.

happy (early) valentine's day <3
wrote a little fic for our best boy corazon!! super excited to participate in this sweet little valentine's day event hosted by @corazon-week!
title: corazón de oro rating: gen content warnings: none! relationship: donquixote "corazon" rosinante & trafalgar d. water law additional tags: emotional hurt/comfort, grief/mourning, dreams/nightmares, canon compliant
“Love, it’s…kind of like a leap of faith. You take your dive, you give them your heart. And you can only hope they’ll catch it when you land.”
sample and link below! :D
Tumblr media
When Cora looked down at the boy, he seemed puzzled. “How do you know Doflamingo loves you? You just said he’s always been a jerk to you.”
“Yeah, he has.” Cora conceded, as an owl called somewhere within the forest behind them. “Love, it’s…kind of like a leap of faith. You take your dive, you give them your heart. And you can only hope they’ll catch it when you land.” He folded his arms as he gazed up at the clear skies, the dazzling stars. “They might not ever say it out loud or show it directly but…you can feel it. You can feel their arms around you when they catch you. It’s in the little things.”
Another spell of gentle, calm, quietness drifted over them.
“Do you think Lami knew I loved her? With all my heart? Even though I was a jerk?”
Cora found himself grinning as he looked down at Law. “I’m positive she did, Law. Don’t ever think she didn’t. You took care of her, right? You wanted what was best for her, in the end?” A shaky, subtle little nod. “Then you did all you could.” He patted the boy on the head again. “Don’t blame yourself for circumstances outside of your control. She’s at peace now. She’s safe. She’s comfortable. And she’s loved. All you can do is hold her close to your heart.”
“I do.” It was spoken in a whisper. “I always do.”
“Good.” Cora drew him in for another hug. “Y’know, you’ve got a good heart under all that sulk.”
A little annoyed grunt. “Yeah, yeah…”

thank you again for hosting this!! i'm so excited to see the other entries XD

what are some of ur favorite fics ur reading and why?
not sure if you meant what i’m reading currently or my favorite fics of all time, but if you meant the latter, i have a post about my favorite one piece fics here.
if you meant the former, here are some of the fics i’ve been obsessed with as of late
surely some star binds me to you - aachria a non-binary one piece self insert who is simultaneously quick witted and digging themselves into a hole of their own lies. i absolutely adore the author’s prose. very smooth and conversational.
where billow meets billow - pinnipenned a trafalgar lami lives au in which the entire trafalgar family is comprised of selkies. incredible writing with a limited and childlike pov that grows as lami herself does the same. the lore is impeccable.
flower petals on my keyboard - midnights_trance bnha content? on my blog? more likely than you’d think. i have so many wonderful things to say about this fic, but i’ll keep it brief and say that tenko deserves love and he gets that here. two amazing ocs adopting a young shimura tenko, what more could you want?

If you had to give away all your fountain pens except 5, which would you be yr top 5? thank you!!
I am tempted to just say 'my five Lamy 2000s' and leave it at that... but it wouldn't be an accurate answer. This is a hard question to answer when you have 100+ pens and find a reason to love each and every one of them.
After much deliberation (and sadly excluding pens from independent makers because I literally couldn't decide otherwise), here are my top five fountain pens, in no particular order:
Lamy 2000 (Blue edition)
Tumblr media
I will never get tired of the 2000's timeless design. Having it in blue is just icing on the cake for a pen that is a joy to write with and continues being one of my all time favourites.
Aurora Optima
Tumblr media
She's got the looks, she's got the ink capacity, and she's got that buttery smooth nib that writes so sweet it probably violates this website's NSFW guidelines.
Lamy Safari/AL-Star
Tumblr media
One of my forever daily-drivers. It's another iconic design for another iconic pen. It may be simple, but it has never let me down.
Platinum Century 3776
Tumblr media
Besides looking beautiful as hell, this pen will not dry out. I don't know how many souls were exchanged for the sheer ungodly power of these O-rings. You can forget this pen in some drawer for a whole-ass year and it will still write. Magic.
Sailor Pro Gear
Tumblr media
I thought people were exaggerating about these nibs. They were not. This nib IS poetry. This pen makes writing my grocery list feel sexy. This nib is its own category of ASMR.
Honorable mention: Kaweco Sport Brass
Tumblr media
A pen to beat the shit out of. Handy little pocket pen to toss in with your keys and watch it patina and gain a personality.

Hagerty to display ultra-rare 1954 Pegaso Saoutchik Coupe at 2022 Goodwood Revival
Tumblr media
- Hagerty will entertain clients and showgoers at the 2022 Goodwood Revival situated in the in the ‘over the road’ section of the event - Rare 1954 Pegaso Saoutchik Coupe promises to be one of the star cars of the event - The glamorous coupe is one of just 18 cars bodied by Saoutchik between 1952 and 1954 - The display Pegaso was originally shown at the 1954 Paris Salon Motorshow, and returned to Paris, 65 years later, for the 2019 Rétromobile event after a full restoration
Hagerty returns to the Goodwood Revival in style for 2022 with one of the rarest cars of the event due to be the star of the Hagerty stand.
The stunning 1954 Pegaso was built in the old Hispano-Suiza factory and features an all-alloy 90-degree V8 with four overhead camshafts. The V8 revs to 9000rpm, and a variety of carburetion set-ups was offered from new, including a single Weber for touring, twin carburetters for amateur competition, or a race specification with four carburetters. The glamorous Z-102B on display is one of 18 cars bodied by Saoutchik between 1952 and 1954, a coachbuilder which had a long tradition of creating some of the most spectacular-looking automobiles. Founded by Jacques Saoutchik, a cabinet-maker turned coachbuilder, the company made its mark in the 1930s with a succession of designs for the likes of Hispano-Suiza, Mercedes-Benz and Bucciali. The Hagerty display car is chassis 0146, originally shown at the 1954 Paris Salon in the Grand Palais, where it was purchased by Jean-Claude Lamy. Lamy subsequently entered the car into several competitions including the ’54 Rallye PanArmoricaine and the Rallye Sablé-Solesmes. Later, the Saoutchik coupe found its way to America, eventually being sold to Bill Harrah, who added the Pegaso to his ever-growing collection in Reno, Nevada. Harrah kept the highly original Z-102B in his 1450-car museum until his death in 1978. Then, the Pegaso was acquired by Ralph Engelstad for the Imperial Palace Auto Collection in Las Vegas. In February 2019, 65 years after its debut in the Grand Palais, the Saoutchik coupe returned to Paris to appear at the Rétromobile event. In addition to the wonderful Pegaso, the Hagerty stand, situated ‘over the road’ at the 2022 Goodwood Revival Meeting, will also feature a Hagerty lounge and bar, a racing simulator and members of the Hagerty team available to offer advice and guidance on their range of specialist insurance and membership products. Mark Roper, Hagerty International Managing Director, said, “What a privilege it is to be custodians of such a rare and beautiful car for the duration of the 2022 Goodwood Revival. Not only will our stand offer a relaxed environment for guests to explore our enthusiast-led products and services, but it will also provide a rare opportunity to see the Pegaso Saoutchik Coupe up close, where every detail can be savoured. I look forward to welcoming guests to our stand throughout the Revival weekend and presenting this special car.” Read the full article

Got a new toy today. Lamy All-Star EMR stylus. I'm loving the way it feels so far. VERY close contender for my favourite, though I'm not 100% sure it'll replace my Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo completely.

▶ after two days of symptoms, i finally tested positive for the covies this morning. my symptoms are thankfully mild (for now). it feels more like a cold than anything serious. i spent all of yesterday moping, so today i must get back on track. to make myself feel better, i cleaned out my pens and added new inks. currently, i am pairing:
LAMY AL-Star (EF) + Ink Institute Jadeite
Pilot Kakuno (M) + Sailor Shikiori Miruai (currently my favorite ink)
LAMY LX (M) + Sailor Manyo Shirakashi
▶ september is "admin season" for me. mostly because it aligns with the release of next year's planners. but also because my birthday is in october, and i will have zero discipline for the remaining 2.5 months. already, i purchased another hobonichi (despite telling myself i'd wait until the spring release)... over the holiday weekend, i had set up my goals for 2023 and broke them into smaller blocks that i'm testing out as habits.
▶ getting sick has made it challenging to keep up. today, i will try to get some reading and maybe studying done. i've repurposed an older Hobonichi A6 planner as a commonplace journal for this sort of endeavor.

@todoufuken said: ❛ i just thought you’d like some company. ❜ -Penguin
The Polar Tang bobbed gently on the waves, drifting upon the reflected dawn. It was the break of day—Mother Nature at her most serene. The morning light glistened on the ocean as it rose over the horizon to welcome any and all early enough to witness it firsthand. The engine had been turned off to save their fuel, the currents yet enough to carry them towards the next island their Log Pose pointed at.
Lamy yawned, sleep having eluded her for most of the night. She sat huddled in her blanket on the upper deck, the patchwork fabric keeping the salty chill out. Whenever she closed her eyes, she could see fire raining down like falling stars. It made her jerk awake, gasping for breath, so she forced herself to stay up just a little longer, hoping that the exhaustion would eventually convince her body to give her just one night of peaceful rest.
The door creaked open, and Lamy sent a sleepy side-way glance up at the boots that came to halt beside her. Penguin's words made a drowsy smile creep across her lips. The breeze plucked at her hair, and wisps of auburn played across her features as she unfurled her blanket from herself, inviting him in to huddle beside her like they had done when they were children, chasing away the Swallow Island cold. Penguin sat down beside her, and she drew the blanket over them both, resting her temple against his shoulder as he settled into a comfortable position. Many years ago, it had just been her brother and her, a polar bear mink, and two brash boys who wouldn't stop following them around North Blue. A ragtag family of small-town delinquents and accidental runaways.
Tumblr media
As the eldest of their original group, Lamy would listen to Penguin when she wouldn’t listen to Law. In every sense but biological, he was her older brother, too. After too many a night spent shivering beneath thin blankets together, and she cherished the way he didn't adress her night terrors, but helped to chase them away with his presence. Lamy dipped her nose beneath the blanket, relishing in the warmth and comfort he emitted, whispering a quiet “Thanks, Pen.” before she closed her eyes, drifting off.
