gotcha!

lance is normally used to have the gym all to himself and his students

he wasn’t expecting the owner to rent the upstairs for dancers looking to practice their craft and wasn’t very happy when the first dancers started to show up

however, he always managed to either make them uncomfortable to the point of quitting or intimidate them into doing so

that was until y/n showed up

it wasn’t like y/n was immune to his teasing or intimidation, she just was too shy to even say a word to him and would mostly enter the gym without him noticing

lance would definitely notice her coming in, wearing baby tones of blue and pink bodysuits and dance tights along with her shoes in hand and headphones in

for the very first months he just let her be until she injured herself and had to ask for his help

all his students watched in pure disbelief as he carried her down as helped her bandage her ankle

from then on, lance took on to protect “sweet, defenseless y/n” as hope called her, from her own self

she couldn’t count the amount of times he would pop in upstairs and ask if she stretched or needed help stretching

she would always dismiss him but if more than one hour passed by and she hadn’t taken a break, he would once again appear

on one particular night she had been dancing for more than five hours preparing for an audition when she lost balance and fell straight on the floor

luckily she wasn’t injured but lance made her stop and took her to the nearest cafe to have something to eat

lance calls that their first date but y/n refuses to admit that her first date was in a dodgy cafe with her wearing nothing but ballet attire and worn out shoes

their actually first date, at least to y/n, was when he invited her to watch a competition for one of his best students

y/n knows nothing about gymnastics but she was still there supporting him nevertheless

she even made a banner

lance also supports her by going to every single audition or performance she has

he, however, is more vocally supportive than her

for example, once he almost fought the casting director when he clearly picked the unexperienced dancer instead of y/n

yet, she still lets him come whenever she has anything important

lance is definitely soft for his ballet dancer girlfriend

“WHY THE FUCK DID YOU LOST THAT LANDING ARE YOU ... oh hi baby”

y/n steals his jackets all the time

lance calls it an issue but he can’t avoid but smirk whenever she comes into the gym, neck covered in hickeys only wearing his jacket and a bodysuit

you bet that during christmas season, lance watches every single performance she has.

by the end of december he probably watched 60 performances of the nutcracker and he loves it

he loves seeing y/n doing what she loves and wouldn’t miss it for the world

however she has a strict “No hickeys on the neck or chest during ballet season” so he’s normally pouty around that time

his students normally appeal for y/n to waver that rule if he gets too demanding

showing her his old olympic performances

y/n pokes fun of his 90s style whenever she watches it

she also pokes fun of his gold medal tattoo however she can’t lie and say she doesn’t enjoy staring at what’s close by

flexibility contests

all the time

if they need to decide who gets to do the dishes they will do a flexibility contest

- Try not to look like a beginner. - he sat against the stack of mats. She herself rolled her eyes before going back to do it rather slowly so she could get the hang of it. Lance was having none of it and told her to do it faster. He was a tough trainer, she knew that, but he was a good one so she was used to dealing with his constant swearing and demanding. - For fuck sakes, Y/N, straighten that back.

- Wha … - she got distracted, falling straight onto the floor and on her foot. She felt an overwhelming pain, that sort of pain that stops a scream in your throat and makes you nauseous. She couldn’t even hear Lance swearing to himself and rushing over to her, helping her from the floor but her foot gave up on her, sending her straight to the ground again. She sat straight and started to sob, her emotions getting the best of her.

- Hey, it’s alright, it’s not the first time you get injured. - he caressed her back but she pushed him back.

- Fuck, Lance, I can’t do this anymore. - she lifted her head from her knees to look at him. - I can’t do this anymore. You’re my boyfriend and it feels everything but that.

- I thought we had discussed that before, honey. - they’d started dating when she was being trained by Hope but after she decided to start training only younger girls, Lance decided to take her on. They had outlined a few rules but after a few lessons, those rules had been thrown out the window. He was a good, heck, the best coach possible for her but it had began to piss her off that everything was about winning the nationals. - Let me look at your foot.

- No. - she pushed him away once more. - God Lance, you’re my boyfriend and then my coach not the other way around. So what if I can’t do it? Only one woman has done it before.

- But I know you can do it. - he felt bad that he had gotten her hurt and that he had hurt her emotionally. He always let himself get carried away but he knew a good gymnast when he saw one and Y/N was one, a very good gymnast. Lance found it easier to separate between his love life and professional life however Y/N was a link between both these settings and he found it was easier to train her by entering the mindset she was just another student. He had never noticed it was hurting her, so now not only did he felt terrible he had been the cause of an injury because he distracted her but also because he hadn’t noticed that his separation was hurting her. - C’mon Y/N we have to ice your ankle.

- We have to break up, Lance. - she tilted her head to stare at him, making him stop in his tracks as he was walking to grab some ice from the freezer. - I can’t keep doing this anymore. I can’t have my boyfriend constantly scream at me, it’s fucked up.

- Y/N, wait. - he crotched to be near her. - I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you or make you hurt yourself. You got it yesterday, I thought that maybe if I pushed you just right.

- I’m not Maggie, Lance. I might want the same things but I’m not her and you’re right … You’re the best coach, you have an ego about it but you are. You’re better than Hope and than anyone else. - she sighed. - But you’re also the man I love and it’s becoming too much.

- I’m so sorry. - he pushed her to his side, kissing the top of her head. - I don’t know how to deal with this. I know you’re really good but I also don’t wanna break up with you.

- Can you at least not swear at me? - she leaned her head against his shoulder, closing her eyes and inhaling his perfume. - I know it’s your trademark but we have a special relationship and maybe the “I’m just another gymnast” is not working.

- You’re right. - he looked down at her ankle, it wasn’t swelling up yet. - I’m so sorry I got your ankle sprained.

- It’s not the worse injury you’ve ever caused me. - she smirked, getting a chuckle for him. - Truce?

- Truce. - he surprised her by lifting her bridal style. - Let’s ice that ankle and go home.

- You’re giving me the day off coach Tucker? - she held onto his neck as he kicked the door of his office open.

- No, your boyfriend Lance Tucker is giving you the day off. Coach Tucker does not give days off.
