Sorry in advance for the long ask! The nature of Darkners being literal objects brings up many fascinating questions, at least in my opinion. The obvious one is the whole Darkners serving Lightners as their purpose, because that is the purpose of their Lightworld equivalents (cards are made to be played with by Lightners, computers are made for Lightners to use, etc etc), but I feel like that one is going to be tackled in-game. The questions I'm more interested in are the ones that aren't going to be answered in-game. Somewhere in the deltarune world there is a company that sells decks of cards, that company has a factory to make those cards, one of those decks of cards was shipped to a store, that deck of cards was bought by someone who works at the Hometown school, that deck of cards was left in a classroom, a dark fountain was opened in that classroom, that deck of cards became the Darkners of the Card Kingdom. So my question is, if you got another deck of cards from that same company from that same factory and opened a dark fountain with that second deck of cards, would you get the same Darkners? Would the jack of spades from that second deck be a second Lancer, or would it be a new Darkner?

you're not wrong in pointing it out! in fact, i think the most likely development at this point is that the light world itself is a simulation based on our own memories/nostalgia towards undertale. it's not really a realistic world in the sense that a full fledged universe would be. ie: the light world doesn't extend much past hometown's confines. after all, why would the greatest and oldest and mightiest dark fountain... be in a school closet? something isn't adding up here. what does that imply for asriel and college? heheh. heh...

So I decided this will be the main group, which mirrors DR Chapter 1.

Frisk - Kris (under player control) Leader

Suzy - Susie (obviously) Antagonistic

Chara - Ralsei - Supportive magic user

Feylow - Ralsei and Lancer - Child character who guides the party but doesn't fight

My story plan is that Suzy bullies Frisk, who continues to try to befriend Suzy against her wishes. Chara tries to step in to no avail, Frisk won't listen to reason and back off.

To everyone's surprise, one day Chara sees Suzy making graffiti and joins in. The two become a pair of rebellious punks up to no good. When Frisk asks to join in (not really wanting to commit public destruction but wants to be friends regardless) Suzy of course says no and Chara silently follows Suzy over Frisk.

When the three fall into an artificial darkworld, Suzy has to accept Frisk as they're the only one who seems to know what they're doing

Darkworld vs. Lightworld Designs for teenage monster Chara ^

Shadow demon vs. Torch Angel. Chara doesn't turn back into a kid anymore in this version of the story to better integrate them into the party and side with Suzy. At this point in the story, Chara has no direction in life and views themselves as a blight on the world. They drift through life without any purpose or desire for the world. Suzy gives life meaning in the form of (mostly harmless) destruction which is something Frisk can't offer.

Chara like Suzy cause Chara can fuck up and be "bad" around her and it's not a condemnation. with Frisk, Chara feels guilty all the time for not living up their ideals. Frisk is pretty hurt by this choice, but Chara expects Frisk to forgive them. (And they do, because they know it's the "right" thing to do, and will have to grow to realize that hey, they can tell Chara to grow tf up and be better)

This storyline shows Frisk's characterization better- someone who's used to be the "savior" of others and is willing (and expected to) bend over backwards to do just about anything for others.

Canon Frisk is helpful but doesn't let others do shit to them. They'll run away from Undyne and they won't let Asgore kill them. The message isn't "be nice always even when facing adversity" its "survive and don't harm others." (you can be an ass and you can beat people up in pacifist) but I need to give Frisk a flaw that they can over come. My Frisk desires to be loved so much they'll accept any bullying from Suzy, allow Chara to be destructive to/around them, and do whatever MK wants them to do to the point all of this wears them down.

Frisk, through the adventure, learns to stand up for themself and take control of their destiny.

This theme doesn't really fit the escapism and chase for the past that Suzy and Chara have going on. Frisk wouldn't approve of Ruler's rule but they don't have any personal vendetta against them as a symbolic entity. Which, hm, I guess is a good thing. UltimatelyI feel it's immature of Suzy and Chara to be against growing up and it's Frisk who understands its inevitable (and not a bad thing to age) that lets them reason and overcome Ruler where the other two cannot.

Rou will rant abt bugs so much if someone wrote it all down itd make an encyclopedia He would prolly like vampirecore He would love history He has a glass fountain pen for sure He has terrariums He loves thunderstorms/rain storms in general He would know how to tap dance oka Rou has intrusive thoughts like me ✨ He would. Have a lot of moths (or just bugs) as pets. Like so many Once he kinda. Denormalized insults against him, he started craving the positive attention Queen always gave him He has exactly 3 responses if Queen compliments him, this is entirely dependant on. Something- 1. Getting overly flustered, 2. Staring at Queen, 3. Short circuit He has silly little fangs that poke out of his mouth sometimes- He hates popcorn He hates fireworks and often panics whenever they start Hes most likely a writer His art style is reminiscent of victorian advertisements He loves fancy clothes and very often makes his own, mostly cuz he cant find what hes looking for, but can find perfect fabric for it Rou would def give Lancer free piano lessons Rou is very protective of his belongings and absolutely hates it when people rummage through his stuff without his knowledge I feel like rou would hate birds He has a third eyelid His hair fluffs and/or glows depending on emotion (this is one of my oldest headcanons- no wonder i forgot abt it) Ok but what if entomologist He has a widows peak If rou could exist in the lightworld he would immediately get sunburnt to high heavens, like properly tho not as an item. His eyes would burn too but metaphorically instead (or just melt) He would do literally everything for Queen, he might hesitate if it goes against his morals but he’ll still do them yknow Rou for sure has like a thousand soaps and Lancer uses them to make “bath potions” I would think a downside to Rou’s love for pirate-ness(???) is he very and i mean very easily gets seasick, or just has motion sickness in general. But he will throw up like 5 times on an hour long boat trip (only new queen one) i think queens audio output or whatever (voice) doesnt have to go in line with whatever queen is mouthing, she just does it so it isnt uncanny

Soooo, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Once again, I have nothing planned for today, so have these scenarios I came up with on the spot. There are some headcanons in this so, yee. Also, this is my own AU, so things are not gonna align to canon :D)

Queen is searching through everyone's search history to get the perfect gifts. She literally got everyone something that, in their eyes, was perfect. Lancer and Susie are running around with decorations and trying to scare people while Kris tags along and pranks a few of the villagers with them. Noelle spent a lot of time between decorating the castle and checking up on her parents in the lightworld. Berdly is helping Queen deliver presents going around to everyone. Seam is cooking something for dinner at the castle, since they're pretty much the only one who can properly cook, and King is helping by making the desserts. He and Ralsei are passive aggressively arguing over what to make and what to use. Let's just say, it ended in 3 different desserts(cake, some cookies and pie) because they couldn't properly agree on what to make. Rouxls has been helping Swatch and Tasque Manager keep everything in order in the café because it's always chaotic during Christmas.
