Langblr Activation Challenge Week 1 - Intro
Hello everyone! My name is Mack, I am 22 and just finished my joint honours degree in English Language and Linguistics and Hispanic Studies.
My pronouns in English are They/Them but in Spanish and German I accept all pronouns.
I am fluent in German (native language) and English and intermediate/advanced level in Spanish. I also took some classes in Latin and Portuguese in school and uni.
My main focus this year is Romanian because I am participating in the kulturweit initiative and moving to Romania for a year. I am also planning on dabbling a little in Hungarian because I'm moving to a city close to the Hungarian border.
Otherwise I'm mostly interested in Romance languages, Jewish languages, Hindustani and, linguistically, in indigenous languages of the Americas (especially the Pacific Northwest) . Recently I've also been really interested in Swedish, Finnish and some other languages. So on my blog you'll find a wild mix of languages, linguistics, culture etc.
I am also queer and neurodivergent and I have a sideblog for fandom, meme and special interest things @himbo-mulder
You can message me any time for questions or simply to chat 💜

Langblr Activation Challenge | Week 1 | Introduce yourself
Hi I'm Lily. I am from Australia, but I live in Finland. My native language is English, and my target language is Finnish.
I've been studying Finnish for about 4 years, but only in a serious sense since I moved to Finland 2 years ago. It's hard for me to access how well I speak Finnish, but I estimate I am conversational/advanced (B2 level) and I hope to still improve from here.
I don't speak or study any other languages, but have a general interest in languages and particularly interesting and note-worthy language and grammar features. This is an interest acquired solely through studying Finnish, which I feel has also been a reasonably big learning experience regarding my native language as well.
Kiitos Essi (@tealingual) haasteesta. Oot oikeassa, että kieleen liittyvä yhteiskunta tumblrissa on ollut aika hiljaista viime aikoina

I'm taking part in the Langblr Activation Challenge, many thanks to Essi @tealingual for spurring this on!
Week one is introduction. Hello, folks! My name is Will, I live in English-speaking Canada, and my main target language is German, mainly because of family. My other target language is French, because Canada. (Sometimes I encounter non-Canadians who think that every Canadian is perfectly fluent in English and French—although I think this is an older stereotype—and it always makes me laugh. Walk into a store where I live speaking French and the poor shop assistants will look at you like deer in headlights. Anyway.)
I'm genderqueer and use they/them pronouns in English, and both er and sie pronouns in German and il and elle in French. My favourite colour is red. My favourite music is currently the Everly Brothers, Nina Simone, and Pomme. I really enjoy creative writing (which one might be able to glean from my original posts, haha), and sewing. I play DnD sometimes too. And I love shoes. My first post on this blog was an intro post, so if anyone feels like scrolling back a ways, you can have a look at that!
Next week we'll be promoting other langblrs. Can't wait!

Week 1: Introduce yourself
My name is Marta (she/her) and I'm almost 21 years old. I'm a Spaniard, and I've lived most of my life in a town close to Madrid, the capital city. I'm studying International Relations.
My native language is (Castilian) Spanish and I also speak English, French, German, and Catalan. I'm self-studying Russian and learning Mandarin at university.
I'm also interested in linguistics, especially comparative linguistics, geography, and history. In my free time, I like reading (both fiction and nonfiction) and watching TV shows and movies.

Hello everyone! I know I did a re-intro post not too long ago, but I'm hoping to get more into langblr, so I thought I'd try the langblr activation challenge by @languagessi 😊 My name is Ezra (obv) and I'm a 23 year old undergrad student from the US. I'm currently sadly monolingual but am hoping to change that! I've studied Hindi, Russian, and Spanish formally in the past, but I hope to concentrate on French and start Hebrew moving forward. (I will probably revisit Hindi later but it's not my main focus right now.) I'm also interested in learning Arabic, but I don't want to do too many languages at once so this blog will be focused on French and beginning Hebrew! Besides learning languages, I love to read (especially books translated from other languages) and write creatively. I'm also bi and trans (he/him pls!), so lgbtq+ stuff is important to me!

Langblr activation challenge
Week 1: Introduce yourself
I'm a 20-something student from the UK studying for a masters in computational linguistics. My linguistics knowledge is limited (I have a maths background) but its steadily improving.
This blog is where I post about German, though I'm also learning French and starting to learn Persian alongside. I’d say I’m at an advance level with German and so most of my learning is me trying to use the language, though grammar books do occasionally get involved.
I love reading so if you want to talk about books in any language hit me up!!
thank you for tagging me to do this @tealingual <3

Langblr Activation Challenge Week One - Introduction
To be fair, it’s been a while since I’ve done an introduction, so I guess it’s time for a refresh!
My name is Victoria/Jo (Victoria’s my middle name, but I started using it within the language community on account of Jo being kinda awkward to pronounce in a number of languages, and also I kinda hate it anyway. But I don’t mind which you use!)
I’m English and (British) English is my native language
I started my life in the langblr community in 2016 with a side blog called nordic-at-heart. I then decided I wanted my langblr to be my main account, so I started this one in July 2018.
My primary target language is Norwegian, which I started learning properly in late 2015/early 2016. I’m probably around a B2 level. I doubt I’ll ever reach C2 without living in Norway, but I hope someday to achieve C1.
I’m also currently learning Japanese. I started dabbling in September and finally accepted I was learning it mid-October. I’m still not at N5 level yet, but I don’t mind the slow progress and have no specific goals.
I flirt with Finnish and Icelandic fairly regularly, but not enough to say I’m actively learning them right now (I’ll get back to them someday!)
I also dabble a little in Tswana every now and then, but mostly I just like learning about it rather than trying to properly learn it (for now)
Until April last year I was learning Spanish. I put it on hold because I hated my classes and wanted to focus on my other target languages, but I’d like to return to it at some point.
I’m not currently learning any Celtic language, but I am a big fan of them/advocate for them and I often post about them.
I’m a certified TEFL teacher, but I’m yet to actually do anything with that.
I teach pole dance, aerial hoop and flexibility for dance and aerial. I used to compete in pole, but I took a break in 2019 with the hopes of restarting in 2020 and I don’t think I need to tell you how that went lol
I also did stilt-walking and fire performing pre-pandemic, and will hopefully continue once it’s all over too
My other hobbies include writing, baking, cooking, reading, dance (contemporary & street), generally being creative (currently enjoying nature photography, but I also delve into drawing, songwriting and sewing on occasion) and video games (mostly 90s platform games and Final Fantasy)
I have two cats called Yuffie and Bub, plus a boyfriend who is basically a cat in a person costume

My first post of @tealingual‘s Langblr Activation Challenge. I look forward to taking part over the next five weeks!
Week One・Introduction
My name is Amy (she/her, they/them) and I’m 26 years old. I joined the langblr community this March, so I’m a baby langblr 😆  My username adito - a drop in the ocean - sums up the way I view the language learning experience and what makes it both so exciting and so intimidating!
I grew up speaking English and German. I was born in Germany, moved to the USA with my family as a child, moved back to Germany to study and now live and work in Germany’s Stadt des Rechts (City of Law), Karlsruhe ⚖️
In terms of German dialects, I understand Südfränkisch (South Franconian) and Schwäbisch (Swabian) since they are spoken in my family and the region I live in/near.
Japanese - I got into Japanese about seven years ago after picking up a vintage copy of Len Walsh’s Read Japanese Today at a book sale and falling head over heels in love with the writing system and kanji. As such, I used to focus on reading and writing, but now my main focus is improving my speaking and listening skills.
Norwegian - I started around 1,5 years ago, and so far I’ve found the basic grammar and vocabulary pretty easy to learn, but navigating multiple written forms and even more distinct dialects is something I’ll be working on for a long time. But I feel pretty fucking cool speaking Norwegian and also whenever I’m able to understand something in Swedish or Danish 😎
Dutch - I’ve been actively learning Dutch for the past ten months. Out of my three target languages, this is by far the “easiest” to understand since I speak German, but it’s also the hardest in terms of pronunciation 😅  I absolutely love the sound of Flemish dialects!
At the end of this year I’ll be working in Gambia for three months, so I’ve decided that I’d like to learn some Mandinka before I go. So get ready for some Mandinka content 😉
Although I’m not actively learning them anymore, I took a Mandarin Chinese class at uni, and also learned some Xhosa and Hindi when I lived in South Africa and India.
I’m also feeling a serious urge to start learning German Sign Language... why can’t my full-time job be learning languages again?
Besides languages, other things that make me happy are panoramic views from mountain peaks, seeing my favorite figure skaters compete live, queer stuff, solving murder mysteries with my favorite fictional detectives, saunas, open-air movie nights, pretending I’m the next David Bowie under the shower, my work, board games, swimming...
Well, enough about me! I’m looking forward to becoming more active in the langblr community, interacting with all of you and following everyone’s progress 😊

Langblr Activation Challenge | Week 1 | Introduce yourself
Hello! My name is Naftali or Tali (he/him, they/them, ze/zir). I’m a 21 year old Jewish man living in the eastern United States who has a very lofty goal of being one of those people who travel the world, living out of a backpack, and eventually making money from that lofty goal.
My native language is English and my target languages are... every language ever but I’m focusing my energy on relearning German with Dutch and French being “side languages.” I have plans to eventually learn Arabic, Spanish, Hebrew, Yiddish, Polish, and Lithuanian... to name a few among the many others I wish to be fluent in.
I’m a hobbyist photographer, writer, and crocheter. Along with being passionate about languages and learning about other cultures, I am passionate about Jewish education and love to talk about Judaism to virtually anyone who will listen. (If I could handle a 9-to-5, I might more seriously consider rabbinical school or another Jewish educator position.)

Palme, who became the Prime minister of Sweden twice, was later assassinated in 1986, with no perpetrator committed.

নমস্কার!(nômoskār) My name's Agniva (aka @normalweirdoboy) and I created this tumblr blog @bongboyblog in order to let more people know about the Bengali culture and language.
When I started this blog, I had just recently become comfortable at reading and writing Bangla. I felt like there maybe many more Bengalis, like me, who’ve not had the opportunity to formally learn Bangla or may not know much about the big Bengali universe out there. Also, I find that the Bengali language is quite underrated, given that it’s one of the most spoken languages in the world (about as large as Russian and Portuguese).
I’m an Indian high-schooler studying science. I’m trilingual (English, Bengali, Hindi) and I'm also fluent in the Nagamese creole. I’m a language enthusiast and love learning new languages and ‘about’ those languages. I’ve attempted self learning quite a lotta languages (German, Korean, Japanese...), never having achieved mastery over them. I can read and speak Urdu although I’m not yet quite good at the script. I can understand some Assamese and Punjabi too.
I love reading, mostly fiction. My favorite novels are those with historical and whodunnit themes. I love music and poetry too!
Hello to all my fellow language learners and bloggers! Hope you'll enjoy reading my posts ^^

langblr activation challenge by @tealingual week 1:
introduction post!
hi guys! i would rather not state my specific age, if that’s okay, but my pronouns are she/her and i have adhd and add, and obviously i have a phd in studying all-nighters >:)
the languages i am currently most invested in are german (B1, almost B2!), russian (A1), and arabic which is a weird mix between dialects for me since my mother’s native tongue is a certain dialect and the one spoken in my country is another, ahhhh.
my native language is hebrew, but since i speak german well enough, i also understand yiddish. like i said before, i grew up around arabic, but sadly the mix of completely different dialects and all jumbled my brain a bit so i don’t remember much, but i’m trying to relearn now. i’m not actively studying french or aramaic, but i do know a little bit in both.
i’m hoping to finish B1 german before the end of 2021, and to find a more formal class for russian, since i’m not incredible at self-studying.
my dm’s are always open for anybody and everybody, if you just wanna chat or talk or whatever <3
