Hi! With ramadan coming up, how do you say something like "May Alallah accept your fasting and prayers" in Arabic?
Hi, Essi!
That’s a very sweet ask! Thank you for asking!
تَقَبَّلَ الله صِيامَكُم  |  taqabbala Allāhu ṣiyāmakum | May Allah accept your fast
تَقَبَّلَ الله صِيامَكُم وَقِيامَكُم  |  taqabbala Allāhu ṣiyāmakum wa qiyāmakum | May Allah accept your fasting and prayers
The word قيام means to get up or stay up literally, but it’s in referrance to a special night prayer in Ramadan called قيام الليل where Muslims stay up during the night to pray (usually group prayer), this is why the word قيام is used instead of the generic word for prayer which is صلاة.
تَقَبَّلَ الله صِيامَكُم وَصالحَ أعْمالِكُم | taqabbala Allāhu ṣiyāmakum wa ṣāliḥa aʿmālikom | May Allah accept your fasting and good deeds
تَقَبَّلَ الله صِيامَكُم وَطاعاتِكُم | taqabbala Allāhu ṣiyāmakum wa ṭāʿātikom | May Allah accept your fasting and good deeds
صِيامًا مَقْبولًأ | ṣiyāman maqbūlan | May your fasting be accepted
When it comes to saying du’aas and prayers, it’s common to say them in MSA.

Recently realized that I haven't shared many Japanese notes here. So why not start now? ☺️
Dec 10 - What is a cherished family tradition from your childhood?
I mentioned in my last post that we visit our grandparents. So, I think the tradition of always buying a lot of sweets for them and other relatives is what we practice. We, too, receive so many sweets that by the end of the holidays, my weight skyrockets and cheeks become plumper. I like it, though.
Dec 11 - What is a favourite family Christmas/holiday memory that has stuck with you through the years? Why?
I don't think I can recollect anything right now, but there's one thing I can't forget. It's not positive, but funny nonetheless: My uncle's two-year-old son once grabbed my mother's phone and smashed it on the wall in front of him out of spite. God, he looked so infuriated and we better not talk about the phone's screen because it was just s h a t t e r e d.
Ps. The doctor couldn't save the phone, either. 😪
Dec 12 - Does your family have any odd traditions during the holidays?
Umm.. I don't know. I might as well be too used to them to realize they're odd.
Dec 13 - When do you buy your Christmas presents?
I only buy them occasionally but when I do, it's probably when December begins; so that I can be excited about them for a month at least.
Happy Birthday, Taylor Swift! Thank you. 💕

💕 get to know your mutuals!! when you get this, it means someone wants to know more about you, so list 5 things about yourself you want your followers to know. they can be as simple as your age or as complex as your deepest fear, as long as it’s something you’re comfortable with sharing. when you’re done, send this to 10 people you want to get to know better!! 🥺🌼💕
I’m bad at talking about myself unprompted. So If you all want to know something, just ask directly. :-D
I share my home with about two dozen teddy bears and over 2000 books.
I vowed to not have my hair cut until this pandemic is over.
i am extremely bad at letting go. Anything. Anyone. Even bad stuff.

Hei Rivkah, hyvää kansainvälistä äidinkielen päivää! Mitä kuuluu? Toivottavasti sinulla oli mukava viikonloppu!
Essi!! I had a lovely weekend, but it was far, far too short. I’ve known your native was Finnish for a while but it’s so cool to see it in action--I rarely see it written but I’ve been told multiple times from other Finnish friends to learn it and come visit. How has the weekend treated you?

Hi honey, could you translate Issam Alnajjar - Hadal Ahbek please? I came across it on Spotify but it's apparently also popular on Tiktok.
Hello, Essi!
I’m sorry for the late reply! Here’s the translation :
عم تحكيلي
كلشي فيك
و أنا هسا هون صافن بكيف جنبي أخليك
You’re telling me
All about yourself
While I’m here now thinking about how to keep you near me
Life will give you
The time to allow you to forget
the tears of the past two days have made your eyes tired
Put your head on the pillow
In my heart, there’s no one quite like you
Your heart is white
No one is like you
You can’t imagine how much I loved your reply*
I’ll always stay by your side
Even if they’re all against you
I’ll continue loving you
It’s a love story
And the heart is beating
It’s a romantic movie
In which I see our dreams
Whatever happens between us
My hand in yours, this is our life
The tears of the past two days made your eyes tired
Put your head on the pillow
In my heart, there’s no one quite like you
Your heart is white
No one is like you
You can’t imagine how much I loved your reply*
I’ll always stay by your side
Even if they’re all against you
I’ll continue loving you
Whatever people say
You’ve always been the base
Of a big diamond house
Your love can’t be measured
How I love you, yes, I love you
_______________
Literally the word يماه  means “oh mother” used for exclamation (like my goodness, or oh my) I translated the meaning instead of word by word so that the sentence doesn’t sound off in English

🐸🍃🌸
🐸What is something you are looking forward to? It's a bit difficult to look forward to things when everything's so uncertain, but I do really look forward to spring. I can't wait for the weather to be a bit nicer and warmer, for the trees blooming. Last spring I found a tiny violet meadow and I love violets so much! I can't wait for flowers and reading on our balcony.
🍃Whats something you are proud of yourself for doing today? It's still pretty early but I'm proud I got up early and was ready to leave the house at 8 (as we agreed with my boyfriend) - I'm in the habit of having too much time and then being late. I also did three things I was putting off for a long time.
🌸 Did you drink water today? Yes! But thanks for reminding me, I'll drink some more.
Thank you Essi <3

12: Have you always enjoyed language learning ? What made you enjoy it ? It’s kinda complicated I suppose, like I think I tried learning Spanish and French as a kid and I remember enjoying that. Then French lessons came along in school and god, like every other British schoolkid I hated them and spent years learning literally nothing as teachers repeated the basics to us year after year. Then I took a German class in school because that became an option, and I did like that better, but I had to move and none of the schools in my new area offered German. Then I started learning Russian on my own when I was like 14, and that’s where my love for language learning really hit. I’ve been going ever since. 28: Are you planning on learning another language ? What one(s) ? Tbh at the moment I dabble in all kinds and hoard textbooks like a resource dragon. I’ve got an Albanian and Irish textbook in the post right now. I do plan to improve my Irish and Georgian for sure though, maybe I should put more focus into those? Or just learn Albanian. That could be fun. Who knows? Not me.  36: Is there a language you would not like to learn ? What one(s) why ?   I don’t think I would ever write off a language completely (closed languages are of course an exception). Some languages don’t interest me as much as others, most Romance languages (apart from Romanian) or some Germanic languages like Dutch, Norwegian, Danish or Swedish for example don’t really grab me per se, but I still wouldn’t say I’d never learn them. Circumstances may well change, and something could spark my interest. ᴬˡᵗʰᵒᵘᵍʰ ᴵ ʷᶦˡˡ ˢᵗᶦˡˡ ᵉⁿᵈˡᵉˢˢˡʸ ᵐᵃᵏᵉ ᶠᵘⁿ ᵒᶠ ᶠʳ*ⁿᶜʰ.  ᴱᵛᵉⁿ ᶦᶠ ᴵ ᵈᶦᵈ ᵉⁿᵈ ᵘᵖ ˢᵘᶜᵏᶦⁿᵍ ᶦᵗ ᵘᵖ ᵃⁿᵈ ˡᵉᵃʳⁿᶦⁿᵍ ᶦᵗ ᵉᵛᵉⁿᵗᵘᵃˡˡʸ.

機会 きかい opportunity 認識する にんしきする to recognize (I used it as "is counted as") 埠頭 ふとう pier 観覧車 かんらんしゃ Ferris wheel 綿菓子 わたがし cotton candy
