there is something so aughgh about lani and samheed's relationship in the unwanteds ok. because. though i am an alexheed shipper through and through, even in a nonromantic context the two of them are so trauma bonded for life. like both of them showed sides of themselves on warbler that they never have before, trapped in deaf darkness for what had to feel like forever. they developed a whole LANGUAGE just to reassure one another that they were still there. like cmon u can't tell me that even years after they're rescued there are still days when the only person in the world who could comfort one is the other because nobody else would understand. sam still lies awake at night sometimes when the darkness is too much; lani has to listen to music to fall asleep. no matter who they're with romantically, no one else will ever understand the depth of what that experience did to them and they are so ughghghg they make me insane
on god Farscape makes me feel insane because it’s so elevated and so human and so essentially Dramatic, the narrative sensibility and the dramaturgical impulse is so entirely me and I want that for me!! i want to know what it’s like to freestyle jazz 4 seasons of weird sci-fi tv in a collaborative environment with writers, actors, and other artists who understand this is both serious Shakespeare-level drama and silly fun playtime. like what I wouldn’t give to ship out to Australia and do that for a few years……
inside his room, erwin shows solani his listening device and points out all its features and how to use it. unfortunately, solani does not gain anything concrete from listening to mateo.
just saw u answered my ask abt ur ocs sorry for the delay, id love to know more about im guessing your salmon run employees! like whys there an ex captain? and general stuff abt them, i love me some grizzco workers
No worries! The information here is a little unorganized so apologies for that
I explained it (not a lot, their bio's are like, 2-3 sentences 💀) on my Toyhouse, but for Nemui, he's an ex-captain for Ro, Yue and Nikki specifically, as all 3 of them moved to the Splatsville location. Nemui didn't move as Grizz needed some to stay behind to help the Inkopolis location, although, he ends up moving to the Splatsville location after attending the first Big Run as an emergency. He moved because he liked the higher hazard levels in Splatsville compared to the Inkopolis location, and not because he was told to.
Although, Ro, Yue and Nikki were forced to move there to help out the new workers for the Splatsville location. It isn't much of a big deal to Nikki since she only works part-time, compared to Ro and Yue who work full-time.
The move wasn't that big of a deal for Ro/Yue, more of an annoyance, though it was more worrying for Yue, as he would have to become the next team captain without Nemui. But it ends up being fine (with some road bumps as he intimidates the new guys, making communication hard).
Some random stuff:
Nemui has drinking problem (after hours), and is addicted to the adrenaline rush at max hazard levels, but no one usually notices it.
I haven't shared it here, but he has 3 new co-workers once he moves to the Splatsville location, one of them being Yue's old worker back when he was still in the Octarian Domes (might retcon this but it's too interesting 💀).
Ro and Yue go out on claw machine dates sometimes to help Ro's gambling addiction (or addiction in general). Ro doesn't usually care about the items unless it's food, and if it's plushies or the like, Yue is the one to ask for it.
Also Ro has a caffeine addiction, Yue usually makes the coffee for him.
I'm not sure about this one so this one might be retconned, but Nikki works for a casino her father owns. She tries to lure people to gambling at their casino, which ended her up working part-time at Grizzco for getting Ro into debt. Yue was the one that managed Grizz to make this contract.
Nikki only has bags under her eyes when she works at Grizzco, afterwards, she's ready and up to get into people's wallets.
Have you ever seen the show Empire? I feel like the song Good Enough by Jessie Smollett fits Chris and his relationship with his dad after reading Never a Regret. What do you think?
No I haven't and I never will. Not knocking those who like it but I'm just not a fan of shows like that. Oh lord this is about to start another rant.
I asked my mom what the best way to peel apples was, and she goes 'oh I have an Apple Peeler Corer Slicer' and I'm like 'A WHAT?' bc that's a string of words I didn't expect.
And this woman goes to the cabinet we never use and pulls out this box
No one's gonna see this, but I have to promote this trilogy called The Age of the Seventh Sun. It's such an amazing trilogy and it's heavily underrated. (There's not even a fandom page for it ☹️). It's based off Mayan or Aztec mythology, and it's super good!! Here's the plot for the first book:
"Thrust into leadership upon the death of his emperor father, young Prince Ahkin feels completely unready for his new position. Though his royal blood controls the power of the sun, he’s now responsible for the lives of all the Chicome people. And despite all Ahkin’s efforts, the sun is fading—and the end of the world may be at hand.
For Mayana, the only daughter of the Chicome family whose blood controls the power of water, the old emperor’s death may mean that she is next. Prince Ahkin must be married before he can ascend the throne, and Mayana is one of six noble daughters presented to him as a possible wife. Those who are not chosen will be sacrificed to the gods.
Only one girl can become Ahkin’s bride. Mayana and Ahkin feel an immediate connection, but the gods themselves may be against them. Both recognize that the ancient rites of blood that keep the gods appeased may be harming the Chicome more than they help. As a bloodred comet and the fading sun bring a growing sense of dread, only two young people may hope to change their world.
Rich in imagination and romance, and based on the legends and history of the Aztec and Maya people, The Seventh Sun brings to vivid life a world on the edge of apocalyptic disaster."
