What are some decent quality AR/AR brands? I decided I wanted a change from the AR I built but I don't have the workspace that I used to build it anymore so I'm looking to just buy the whole thing this time around.

Daniel Defense, Geissele, BCM, Lantac Knights Armament, and LMT are my go-to companies.

I own quite a few Daniel Defense & a couple Geissele ARs. To me, they're about the best AR you could buy within their price range, and they pop up used all the time for (generally) a few hundred bucks cheaper.

LMT & Knights are extremely good, but quite expensive, especially now. I bought my SR-15 for about 2 grand a few years ago. If you can find one now, don't expect to pay less that 2500. Many are going for over 4K, which is dome foolishness.

FN makes a decent quality AR, as well. Haven't heard too many complaints about them.

Certain others will add their .02.

VSR-10からスカウトライフルを作る(20): 完成!!

苦節2ヶ月、何もかも初めての世界でいきなりVSR-10を左利き用にカスタムしようという企画を始めてようやく「一応は」完成に漕ぎつけた!

搭載したのはBSAの2-7倍ピストルスコープで、正確にはスカウトスコープではないのだが材料調達時には入手できなかったのでやむをえない。アイリリーフが非常に長いのでこのようにスコープを前に突き出した格好になる。 スリングはスイベルを3か所も持つチン・スリングという形式で、スカウトライフルに特有のもの。

以下は最後の制作過程。

ステッピングで失敗したグリップ部分はラバーチッピング塗料で塗装後に染めQで灰色にすることを予定していたが、こいつはどうしても白く粉を吹く傾向があるうえ情けなくも吹いたとたんに弾切れになってしまったのでやむなくインディのゴーストグレーで塗装することになった。今回の失敗個所。

パーツが揃ったら組み上げるのだが、ここでストックの合いを確かめずいきなりバレルとスコープの取り付けに走ってしまったため2時間ほど悪戦苦闘し時間を無駄にしてしまった。

チャンバーブロック底面でロールの水平を取った後レシーバー上面でピッチの水平を取る。マウントを載せるのだが、今回は特殊構成といくつかの不手際により根元の2点で支持する変則的なカンチレバーと化してしまった。

マウントを載せた後はリング下部の水平を取りながら載せ、さらにスコープを載せる。 (L社製のスコープリング、ネジの位置がずれてて何だかあまり信用ならないぞ…!?) そして本来ならここでリング自体を削ったりして精密に合わせる作業が発生するはずなのだが、今回は全体の出来がいまいちなのでそこまではやらずほぼ純正品ポン付けみたいな感じで済ませた。

そしてスコープを覗き込みながらロール方向を調整したり、バレルとレシーバーの固定が甘いことに気がついてイモネジを1本追加したり、イモネジに合わせてストック内部をちょっと削ったり、ストックとバレルの合いが悪くて悪戦苦闘しているうちに一部の塗装が剥げたり、最後まで行き当たりばったりであった。これはよくないね。 では最後にまとめ。

最大出力: 0.28gで0.97J (0.2gと0.25gで0.94J、0.3gで0.96J)

インナーバレル: 純正真鍮6.08x308mm研磨済

パッキン: 宮川ゴム『一撃』

シリンダー: 純正研磨済

スプリング: D95/105

ピストン重量: 45g

レシーバー: SLONG製両利き用

ハンドル: Mapleleaf製左利き用

マズルデバイス: LANTACタイプ DGN762

スコープマウント: ノーベルアームズVSR-10用を加工

スコープ: BSA EDGE ピストルスコープ

スコープリング: ライラクス マウントリング ネオ 25mmLOW

ダミーマグ: Double Eagle Magpul Pro 700マガジンを加工

性能向上に資するサードパーティ製品はパッキンだけで(純正は加工に失敗した)、他は左利き対応や見栄えのためのもの。ほぼ純正と言っていい。
