Summary: When a case hits Cordell too close to home, he's already on edge of a breakdown, and a little inconvenience becomes the straw that breaks the Camel's back. 3) Closure (776 words, Complete)

Summary: Emily’s murderer and the mastermind behind it had both been arrested. So why was Cordell feeling so numb instead of being elated?

Summary: Aka the first time Cassie Perez meets Emily Walker (or her grave)

Summary: Cassie Perez really really should have stayed home today. She even had all her medical leaves intact because she never got sick. Until now, that is..

Summary: It was the middle of June and and Cordell Walker and Cassie Perez had been deployed again to deliver evidence from the Austin HQ to all the way to the Bailey County Courthouse, and they had been instructed to be back “by eight hours at any cost”, and also been warned against any peeking into the evidence, or they’d lose their jobs.

Ingo and Emmet Are Both Autistic and I Will Die On This Hill, Thank You Very Much

Hey, remember over a year ago when I wrote that post screaming into the void about how Emmet is autistic? Consider this an updated version of that post, because I really should have talked about how they both are.

Disclaimer: I am an autistic adult who went undiagnosed until age 20 despite a blatant love of steam locomotives so I don’t know how I was missed considering I had the single most stereotypical interest on the planet. (I’ll touch on that later.)

Anyhow, I’ll try to keep this brief (and will likely fail), but let’s get into how both Ingo and Emmet are autistic, actually.

Emmet’s the more obvious one, which is why I wrote the initial post linked above. He clearly scripts, has trouble containing his sheer excitement about things (read: Doubles) to the point of bothering other people, has no filter, will happily infodump about strategy or the MTA rules if asked, and in the manga has an arm-swinging walk that’s visibly a stim if you know it. 

The scripting is evident when you fight him by himself, as his dialogue often feels stiff (in Japanese it’s more informal to contrast with his hyper-formal brother), but the line that always seals the deal for me is actually this, when Ingo asks him to put in a few words before a Multi Battle:

A Brief Submas Primer

Did you just find out about the Pokemon franchise’s most popular battle facility since the Battle Frontier because of a plot point in Legends: Arceus? Were you curious because your friends were talking about some weird train man and you have no idea what they’re on about? Worry no longer, because this mole person has you covered.

What the hell is Submas?

The term ‘Submas’ is a portmanteau of their Japanese trainer class title, Subway Masters (in English releases, they got the trainer class title Subway Boss). Note that I’m saying “they” - there are, in fact, two of them, and they’re twins.

Ingo (Nobori) is the older of the two of them, specializing in Singles. He speaks overly politely/formally (more obvious in Japanese), has no indoor voice, will yell “BRAVO!” the second anything remotely good or exciting happens, has an overbearing sense of responsibility (it’s an older sibling thing, trust me), and became an accidental sex symbol on Pixiv (don’t ask, he probably doesn’t know either). He’s best known for being the “serious” one and notably has not been allowed to smile in-game to this day, although he was allowed in the anime and manga to be more expressive. He makes up for this by being very, very loud.

In case anyone is wondering what real-world train drama is going on, there’s this.

The tl;dr is that Amtrak wants to run two passenger trains per day round-trip (4 runs total) between Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana, restoring a service that hasn’t been there since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. CSX and Norfolk Southern, two major freight train companies, have resisted this idea, saying it would mess up their traffic, especially since Amtrak’s passenger trains would get priority (by government decree, believe it or not).

So now Amtrak is on Twitch streaming the line to prove the line isn’t too busy for them to run passenger trains.

I’m wheezing.

I was wondering, are you still astounded every time Louis or Harry does something loud? For me (quite new here) seeing Louis on tour is almost like being in a constant state of awe and… disbelief almost. Seeing him pointing at that Larry sign and almost not being able to grasp that he did that. Does that happen to you still?

Hi honey. I think this might be the first time I’ve seen Louis do anything this blatantly obvious (wearing the H shirt on his livestream, using drawings of Harry’s tattoos on his Spotify… those were huge, but somehow this seems even more clear). Back when the band was touring, there were definitely moments like this (Harry had a very direct moment with @lornasaurusrex and her “I just want it to be Oops and Hi forever” sign, for example). And during Harry’s 2021 tour he very clearly reacted to @rbbbff’s sign with a picture of Clifford and “there’s a piece of you in how I dress” and @sahlineelnagrom wearing a mask with Louis’ logo).

Every time it happens I think to myself, “I know they’re together, but holy shit they’re together”.

The gaslighting is huge in this fandom. And I totally understand when people have moments of doubt. So, I don’t think I ever take this sort of “proof” for granted and I think I’m always going to be a little bit a mixture of all these gifs

ok i'm gonna rant for a second because as a returned fan who's also a returned larrie and a big loud trans queer person, i just wanna say that the fan pov on HL as both a coupling and individuals is my favorite and most behated discourse, like—

1. half of y'all are still pulling top/bottom discourse in 2021 and trying to equate physical attributes, mannerisms, and even personal aesthetics to sexual preferences like that has any bearing over shit...did you read a bad BL like junjou romantica in middle school and just internalize all those dynamics??

2. also a lot of you in number one also think that top = dom and bottom = sub and that also is determined by physical stature and personal aesthetics, as well as dictating a person's entire personality, so i gotta ask—are you the same person in the bedroom as you are in the workplace? with friends or family? does your love for, i dunno, wearing bracelets mean you also like being dominated and handcuffed? i just wanna understand the logic??

1b. + 2b. you do know that being vers is a thing right.....that also exists....just, y'know, to take into consideration....

3. accusing people—particularly! trans and nonbinary people!—who don't believe harry is cis of being transphobic because you don't like their understanding + relatability to things he's said about gender and how he showcases himself as well as speaking over them to try and reason his 'true identity' by using your weird obsession gender binaryism as fallback reasoning is the actual transphobia, but go off i guess.

4. constantly trying to pit harry and louis against each other—and/or against the other 1d guys, other artists—and argue over who has it worse, who's choosing to stay closeted, who's more or less committed to the relationship, etc. is so vile i genuinely don't even want to talk to you.

4b. and i don't mean 'oh i'm more into louis' music/look/etc. so i pay a little more attention to him' or 'i've always felt drawn to harry for x reason so i'm more tuned into what he's doing' or any kind of normal/healthy "favoritism" that may include going back and forth between the two of them depending on what's going on at the time. i mean: picking a favorite between the two and toeing the line of toxic solo behavior by constantly putting the other one down so you can praise and baby your poor little meow meow at every turn. i hardly think you can call yourself a larrie if you're doing this.

5. too many people read portrait-of-a-you-know-what's blog for too long and internalized a lot of his thoughts in his downward spiral into a conspiracy theory-riddled anti that hates harry and thinks he's choosing to be closeted for pity or clout or what and poor louis, because i see so much of the favoritism links back to that person's reasoning for changing his mind on things + using his ""credentials"" to reason being in the right when in reality, he was literally just going off the rails by feeding into all the BS media fodder. also what credentials?? i wanna see that certificate!

6. i have a personal nitpick over the 'mommy louis' rhetoric that goes hand-in-hand with posing harry as this big dom Man and making louis into this small submissive uwu baby archetype who just wants his big strong husband to seed his curvy body's absent womb aka blouie rhetoric sorry not sorry that also dives into the momrry mindset primarily originating from harry's years-long clear adoration of pregnancy and babies rather than trying to fit him into a box related to cis womanhood + maternity—in turn satisfying gender binaryism once again!—but we'll get into that another day

Hi, how are you? I love H and L so much, so this question it’s not meant to throw hate or anything like that. Under which circumstances do you think Daisy posted that picture? Are they still obligated by contract to do some damage control EVERY TIME something big (both in the same city) happends? I can’t find any other explanation but it just seems odd to me given the fact that they ended things with syco and modest a while ago. Sometimes i think there’s still some abusive contract going on and they need to fight legally in order to end it and then being able to come out. If it’s not that maybe i just have to assume that they are doing this shit becouse they willingly want to keep this narrative and that doesn’t seem about right. Finally, I just wanted to tell how much it breaks my heart that the family is that involved. I know is PR 101 but man, to lie to people like that, is sick.

Listen, anything I will say about contracts will be pulled right out of my ass. Same goes for everything surrounding this, same goes for everyone else saying shit surrounding any of this. That said, I think "damage control" is rarely applicable anymore. That idea comes from 1D times where one hella gay hella larry thing would be followed up by some look at him being into women over here! almost immediately after.

This is probably yet another hot take but I think currently, "larry" is such a phenomenon that it doesn't actually matter how much theyre "larrying" or that they're in the same city or whatever, damage control isn't a thing anymore. Not for rumors regarding their relationship at least. Even if they get what we consider hella fucking loud, it's just drowned out by the thick fog of it being a conspiracy theory, and that's in part by the massive smoke of idiotic theories being presented as facts over on other platforms (we got some crazy shit over here [hi] but at least we're not coating it in some sOmEtHiNgS gOnNa HaPpEn how-do-i-get-max-clout-from-this screaming or whatever the fuck is going on most days). In other words I think in a sense, Louis and Harry (yes I'm so so sidetracking) are able to be this loud and be this idiotic with their larrying when they want to be because they can hide behind the dumb theories and just wildfires of misinformation across platforms, not. to. mention. if you somehow as innocent who-tf-is-larry-person get exposed to larry now and you look it up you first hit a it's-a-conspiracy wall, then you run into a wholeass bunch of harry-and-louis-are-uncomfortable-and-have-denied-it barbwire and then you fall into the neon-green grass oh wait its actually toxic waste of "larry proof november 2021 louis at harry's concert confirmed!!!" youtube hell, like, even if they start literally just talking fondly about each other excessively or if even if louis would actually go to harry's concert out in the open or really anything substantial enough to hit the media, even then, there's no need for damage control, because the way the concept of larry has become a phenomenon by now, none of it matters anymore? Like if they get spotted together for real, the media will just be "larry shippers are celebrating, but here are all the links to articles on why its a conspiracy theory and H&L hate it actually here's the most recent holivia sighting look you can buy her shirt here" and that's the "damage control". So no, I don't think it's damage control for anything. I do think they do some deliberate look at me I'm over here! Location dropping kinda content giving all the time, in the sense that the second they're away from each other they will go seeeee I'm not there but that's about it.

About contracts, yeah probably they're stuck in longer lasting bullshit than we think, and theres a bunch of horrifying examples of artists getting absolutely the fucked over by their contracts and the way they all, all of 1D isn't talking to this day vs the amount of we should talk bro in all of their lyrics yeah they're most likely caught in some serious shit there but speculating about that in detail isn't for me. I just don't understand that world well enough to go there. But in general I don't think managers, PR teams, labels, whoever the fuck involved, are like "you have to post this pic now", "you're not allowed to interact with that person", "you can't say this", "you will do that", like in a literal sense. I think public figures are advised to go in a certain direction with things, and they're heavily warned about possible backlashes and effects their actions will have. Aka they're manipulated and made to believe things to the point where they're doing what they think is best for them even if it's stuff like this. And that they've been in the circus long enough by now to know how it runs, that by maybe by now they're doing some of on their own accord, maybe because that satisfies the most people and they'll get off their backs, maybe because they've experienced first hand what happens when they don't listen to said "advice" (I really really do think thats the case rip), maybe its the lesser of two evils, maybe it's part of a long term plan: maybe they're convinced it's for the best. And maybe it is, you know? Maybe they're that far in(to a narrative), this is actually good. Maybe seeing F and having a bunch of pics/vids with him now is the best option. Maybe slowly dropping these pics like this in the long run will help, maybe because he's ending it and this way they'll have pics to go with the news. I think the day they were seen in the arcade (August 3/4) matches the way he looks in the pic of today (November 22), although it's a different death-and-despair t-shirt, it's both slick back long hair under a cap and clean shaven, a wombocombo that narrows down to when this was taken pretty much to.. well.. then. I think is he did go see F this summer, took a wholeass bunch of pics and videos of them together, and that that footage will slowly start dropping in places that can easily be found and used in any media. I don't think that arcade video was for anyone. And I don't think this insta story is to be used in any media either. I think there will be more coming, maybe instagram posts by other family members, so that there's stuff that can be used once it's relevant. Or it has a purpose, at least.

As for Ls (and H for that matter)s family participating in stunts, I think it's, nice, in a way, so he doesn't have to. That is assuming this narrative still needs to be fed for a purpose that will ultimately benefit him. But I also think what his sisters are seeing in terms of... the influence they're having, the response they are getting, I mean the (small, I hope) percentage of fans that is fan of Louis' whole family as if they're the Kardashians rather than just Louis, are also the fans that believe in F being his kiddo and the ones following tomlinson family fan accounts and those accounts all include F. I think for them, the line's already crossed, the damage is already done, to the public F is part of their family and so what they post will fit that. They just post what they think their audience will want to see. And now that they got a pic of them together, they'll use it like it's nothing, because it makes no difference anymore. This is just it, its what they stuck to since the beginning and it's what they will keep sticking to. I doubt they'll know what Louis is planning if he is up to something, and I doubt they'll protest and be like "are you really ok with this, whats going on?" when presented with the opportunity to go off about the F narrative knowing how much traffic that will get them, you know?

Basically we don't know anything, but I'm sure there are more factors at play we can even imagine. I think jumping to any they want this conclusion because we don't get it is.. too easy. And quite a shortcut to building up resentment towards him/them. I'm just gonna sit back, wait for LT2, figure of what T-shirt he's wearing or some shit in the meantime.

My thoughts on AS IT WAS on April 1, 2022

Harry's new single dropped today. AS IT WAS. This is not lyric analysis. I'll leave that to people smarter than me.

My first reaction (as I snuck into the ladies' room during a dinner date with friends) was that I love H in red. I couldn't have the music up loud in the toilet stall, so it was really just the visuals. Glass Closet. Reverse Motion. Harry dancing. Running in Circles. Harry wearing the banana penis necklace. Frustration on H's face that he didn't seem to be able to catch up to his partner in blue. Harry dancing! (did I mention Harry dancing!)

I'm thinking it's a corollary (corolarry?) to the music industry, the rat race, and not being able to be in the same place as his partner for long stretches at a time. But as I said, this is not lyric analysis.

This gets long, so a cut.

A little melancholy, but dancing! And he's happy at the end.

I've now listened to the song a dozen times and watched most of the morning interviews (why we ever thought he'd be MIA this morning, I'll never know).

Sadly, I've seen a lot of people really depressed over some of the song lyrics. A few saying this is making them UnLarry.

And I get that this is a roller coaster we are on. We are up. We are down. It's difficult. We can't SEE them together. But overall, I have no Earthly idea why this would make anyone stop believing in Larry.

I mean, they send coded messages constantly. Since the beginning of H's tour (and honestly LONG before that going back more than a decade), it's been clue after clue. (and Harry said this morning, we get most of the clues right).

Nothing is proof on its own, but Louis has been blue/greening all week, playing highly suspicious outro songs after his shows, flashing the shape of windows/a house outline behind him this week on tour. They are both using Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz references in merch, portals/doors, and fishbowl photography.

And look, Louis in Oslo on March 27, and H today on his round of radio interviews (April 1). By the way, H's shirt says "Love" below the smiley.

It's always worth remembering that these two men are still closeted artists. If anyone expected H to come out with this song, I'm sorry. That was never going to be an option. I think there's a plan in place, but that we're many moons away from it still. We are moving in that direction, for sure. H wearing gender fluid clothing, and L using gender neutral pronouns, for example.

H is a genius when it comes to double meanings (as is his husband). This song can be about gender epiphany, relationships, the music industry, breaking out of the glass closet and probably a half-dozen other things.

Here's my previous post about Larry not being straight, should anyone wonder where I stand on that issue.

I'm so proud of Harry being able to wear whatever the hell he wants to wear. He looks and sounds amazing. I'm quite confident that his husband is proud and that they both will continue to allude to their relationship in their clothing, coded language, and behavior.

So according to Larries, if Larry aren’t together,

1. Louis would either marry Eleanor

Or

2. Louis would come out and date a man publicly.

And if Larry are together,

1. The overarching reason to hide it would be for Harry to become “a cultural juggernaut,” (“and if we’re right they’re doing it for Harry’s career”) and

2. for Louis to make a bit more money as a pitiful, cute-tragic little also-ran.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the transparency of this pro-Harry, anti-Louis illogic. I knew they believe this, just never thought they’d have the audacity to voice this opinion out loud.

But it looks like lots of Larries agree, so maybe Larries no longer have to use “Louis the fish” metaphors and can shoot straight to “Only One of Them Matters.”

[How convenient for Larrie blogs to “come off the fence” just as Holivia goes into pathetic overdrive and Larries are jumping ship.]

They frame the argument as if the only reason for Louis to keep his private life private is to… protect Harry?

And according to Larries, the reason for Harry to keep his private life private is… also to protect Harry’s career.

Because of the cultural juggernaut thing. How convenient for Larries that everything and everyone in the world appears to want Harry Styles, and only Harry Styles, to thrive.

After all, Harry loves money. Don’t blame him for that! Harry doesn’t set the tour ticket prices but actually yes he does.

So here’s the thing. If they’re “a couple with a strong relationship,” who’s going to protect Louis?

Oh, I forget! According to Larries, Louis doesn’t matter, because he’s not “culturally” significant. Because Louis’ meticulous work on his solo career, his games with fans are solely to make Larry fics come true.

Hey, maybe it’s mutual and they discussed it, “it” being Louis’ professional assassination. Cool cool cool cool cool cool 🔪🔫😑

So instead of admitting that Louis’ career has been sabotaged by a thousand Walls (hence the album title)— by intentional and strategic obstacles— Larries consider it beautiful that Louis has sacrificed — is sacrificing— his sexuality, his pride, his hard work and his career, for a selfish man who already gets everything anyway. No matter what Louis does or doesn’t do. No matter what Louis “chooses.” Because Harry is already supported by hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate investment.

Maybe, my dear Larries, let’s interpret our observations another way:

1. Harry’s going to do whatever he needs to do to achieve the vast wealth and fame he’s been gunning for for 10+ years,

And

2. Louis is going to work within the constraints of his career to be the most authentic musician he can be, keeping his private life private, because of the way his life has been weaponized against him for a decade,

And

3. Louis’ sexuality doesn’t depend on whether he’s dating Harry or not,

And

4. If you think Louis Tomlinson’s entire reason for being is to support Harry Styles’ career, please leave Louis’ fandom, and stop proselytizing to younger fans that your twisted sadomasochistic wank is 1. real or 2. healthy.

(Apparently I am “vile” for thinking this but at this point, I’d rather be “vile” than a Larrie.)

12. favorite character to write about this year

I think it's really a toss-up between Draco and Harry for me! When I have an idea for a story, it almost always comes clear pretty quickly to me whose POV it should be from? Not always though, so it's fun to think about - and fun to figure out how their voices are different? I feel like writing Drarry this year has really sparked my writing mojo again (I've been having SO MUCH FUN with the small details for fictional kisses prompts that I've been doing - and I'll have two more out today haha).

I am still writing Larry/1D because those stories in my head are really connected to those characters and can't just be transferred to a different world. But I'll be honest, I'm struggling with where my place is in that creative world.

14. a fic you didn’t expect to write

So I'll say first, any time I actually finish and post something, I'm somewhat surprised by it because I start things ALL THE TIME but carrying them through can be tough for me!

Also, in some ways, a year ago I really wasn't sure if I would still be writing or what that would look like. I've had to do some big processing and just reworking my relationship to writing and I feel like it's still settling in! But in a good way. That being said...

In the Larry/1D fandom, I did not expect to do the Wordplay challenge but ended up with a series of stories that I absolutely love (I'm Hot for Teacher)! I also wrote no heart for me like yours (no love for you like mine) as a pinch-hit for the 1D Reverse Bang and at 46k it's one of the longer things I've ever done. I also have to say I think it's one of the best things I've ever written.

In the Drarry world, I wrote a lot this year. @drarrymicrofic has been so so inspiring for me, and really got me writing regularly again, and I'm so grateful to have been accepted into that community! I've made some wonderful friends and gotten to know a lot of lovely people! For fic, I think the first thing I published in 2021 was really a surprise to me, which was a prompt from @keyflight790 that had literally sat in my head for more than two years - Green-Eyed Epiphany. Also, sex in trees for beginners was one of those fics that just POURED out of me (and made me laugh out loud as I was writing it, which is always fun).
