this is such a minor detail but i love how marian always has the last piece of the puzzle that the russels need to make their plans work. in season 1 she tells george about his secretary's real name which saves his ass in court. in season 2 she tells larry that mr. mcallister is the one who bought off the duke which helps bertha strike back and secure him. paired with the fact that she was one of the few people who was supportive of them from the start i just feel like she already fits into their family so well <3

I need things between Larry and Marian to go beyond meeting across the street with him offering to accompany her somehwere an that's it for the rest of the season, because at this rate they're going to fall in love by the time they're Aunt Ada and Reverend Forte's age and I can't

Larry was smitten with Marian from the very beginning. Bertha announced that she'd be holding a dinner and right away he asks if she'll be inviting Mrs. Van Rhijn (and therefore Marian).
He has heart eyes the entire episode.
Larry approaches her as soon as she arrives at the Russell dinner at the end of the episode.
I'm no social etiquette scholar, but I'm pretty sure Larry grabbing Marian's hand, just days after their first meeting, was a pretty forward move. Even at a dinner like that.

As for George and Bertha, even though Bertha is upset that Marian has to leave so quickly, George recognizes that Marian surely came without her aunt's permission. He reminds Bertha that her quarrel is with Mrs. Van Rhijn, not Marian herself. I think it's that act that leads to Bertha and Marian getting along so well in the future.

Am I the only one who thinks that Bertha will approve of Marian and Larry in season 3?
I keep seeing people say that they think she’ll have a problem with it, but I honestly don’t think so because…
She seems to like Marian. Inviting her to dinners and parties. Apologizing to her in season 1 when there wasn’t room for her in their party for the electric lighting that Mr. Raikes was invited to. Letting her be in their Met Opera box. Greeting her at the Easter service. That points to liking her.
Her problem with Mrs. Blaine was that she was twice Larry’s age. Marian is not.
Unlike Gladys, Larry doesn’t have to marry for position and money. He can marry for love. He can basically marry whoever he wants without much say from his parents.
In my opinion, when it comes to obstacles due to family, Bertha isn’t going to be the problem. It’s going to be Aunt Agnes. She’s the one that’s going to disapprove.
Yes, the roles are about to changed between Aunt Ada and Aunt Agnes, so with that in mind, I’m not sure how that will affect Marian and Larry’s relationship going forward, but one thing is for sure, the problem is still going to be Agnes.
I’m also someone who doesn’t believe that Mrs. Blaine will come back into the picture by way of being pregnant with Larry’s child because the writers admitted in post-finale interviews that Larry and Marian was always the plan. It was just a matter of when, not if. There’s going to be obstacles, that’s a given, but if they were always the plan, I doubt they would ruin that by making Larry father another woman’s child. I feel like that’s why they had Bertha say to Mrs. Blaine that she couldn’t give him an heir when she told her to break it off with Larry.
Also, I saw someone say that Larry and Marian are based on a historical couple that were across the street neighbors, where one was old money and the other was new money, so…there’s that aspect as well.
In any case, I’m so excited for season 3. And I can’t wait to see what happens between Larry and Marian, but for all the characters. The renewal news was the best early Christmas present that I could ask for.

You know what, I'm not worried if Larry and Marian are going to be endgame. I know they're going to be endgame because not only the actors and characters have insane chemistry, they are, quite literally, the only characters who can give what the other really wants (romantically speaking of course).
What does Larry want? To be recognized as something more than just his father's son, valued beyond his family's wealth and name. Who can give that to him? The girl who has been telling us over and over, since season one, how she doesn't care about money and society. She already values him and already supports his dreams (let's not forget who convinced him to tell his father about architecture).
What does Marian want? To be loved unconditionally by someone who's not after her because of her name. Who can give this to her? The young man who already has money and a name, who has always liked her just because of who she is. Also, in a marriage to Larry, a man who values hard work, creativity and has a open mind to change and also doesn't really care about society's values, she can have her own independence and interests. She can keep working at the school and exist beyond the marriage.
Besides, one of the first things that are stated in the series narrative is how the Van Rhien and the Russel house will never relate to each other, so of course they will be united at some point. And now that the Oscar and Gladys train is long gone (it would never work) it falls on Larry and Marian to unite both families. It. Makes. Sense.
What I am worried tho is HOW this romance is going to go. I want a concise, well though and well written friends to lovers please and thank u.
