was reading about how semi-permanent, individual lash extensions need to be refilled every few weeks because they just. fall out?

about how lashes that are not derived from actual little creatures are still labeled ‘mink’ or ‘faux mink’ despite being comprised of polybutylene terepthlate, a plastic stretched into sub 0.5mm fibers? where??? at the dedicated microplastics factory?

and this largely because the wretched & devouring beauty/wellness industry wants us to be able to take to the sky on the strength of a full set alone?

friends. countrymen. here there is only despair.

hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of microplastics precariously placed upon the lashlines of our brethren, then, over the course of 2-3 weeks, bound to no weft, the diminutive pbts, these harbingers of ecological destruction, are gradually scattered amidst our homes, our streets, and wildlife, through our drainage systems, and eventually into our oceans.

fine yeah i’m being dramatic and i get that in the face of the enormous amount of global plastic waste the impact of eyelash extensions is certainly negligible, but i am admittedly taken aback by the ‘these lashes are gonna hit, the plankton can choke’ of it all
