Calorie tracker, day 21
I went to a spa today w/ my mum and my aunties so I had to force myself to eat so that they wouldn't question me. Had an monster on the train to where they picked me up, some crisps/chips, veggies and dip, an ice latte and a pokè bowl with shrimp (left a lot of rice and mayo) at the spa. I guesstimated what I ate at the spa to be around 1012 cals😵💀

Looks like I’m losing 1 lbs a day. Not bad, I miss losing 2 lbs a day as a teenager lol. I didn’t have as strong will power back then as I do now tho. I’m proud, confident. I only bought my scale 2 days ago. I wanted to lose at least 10 lbs and see if I can fit into the dress. At this point, imma aim for 20. I can lose 20 lbs in 20 days. That will be I c o n I c. No one is stopping me. No one can stop me. I don’t even have to hide this. I’m so fucking excited. I’m watching eurphoria too which is a huge distraction. I would go on ED tumblr and then just forget I’m even hungry. After euphoria I can watch those ED movies again bc those are always inspiring. Heck by my birthday I can be so small and skinny.
I start to look good at 114 lbs. we will get back to 100 lbs. for now let’s focus on 10. I started earlier but I didn’t know my weight. So let’s say we started at 135.

We will cap it at 85lbs for now. It’s a long road ahead but I believe we can get there.
I have noticed that sometimes it will take a day and a bit to lose 1 lbs. I want to start fasting by 7. Deff have tea n all but no food after 7 so I have to eat dinner at work. Maybe I won’t have to tonight bc it’s the weekend tomorrow. It was hard throughout the week bc I couldn’t sleep on an empty stomach. Which then effects the weight loss in the AM which can get frustrating. You’re doing everything right Sav. Eating one small meal a day. Yesterday was sushi. I have pasta in the fridge I can eat when I get home tonight. Will I have a non alone today? Goodness no. I might ngl. We will see. I’ll be strong and won’t. I’ll have a mocha instead. The mocha isn’t very sweet which is nice. Maybe a regular coffee. Idk I’m not big on americanos. I bought the Godiva coffee so that really helps when it comes to fasting. I haven’t started fasting yet but I think I’ll get there soon. I just love an ice latte in the AM.
Fingers crossed we are down to 132 tomorrow. It’s a waiting game. If not at least I have the weekend to workout and clean to burn those calories. Maybe I’ll fast. I can go to the beach and walk or south lands. I dunno but it will be nice either way.

today wasn’t my best, but it wasn’t terrible. i’ve decided to try and eat around 500 cals a day, 800 at most, and workout as much as possible. along with that, i don’t count calories from honey anymore, i know it’s quite a lot but there’s no way in hell im drinking tea without honey anymore, it keeps me awake in class when i’m fasting tbh.
anyways, i ate:
what the fuck.
oatmeal with 1/2 a banana and 1/4 tsp chia seeds; made with almond milk (~200)
a rice cake (40)
two pieces of white bread (140, gotta convince my parents to start buying low calorie ugh, would solve so many problems tbh)
egg, guac, and cheese sammie (just gonna day around 500 because if i count every calorie from all cheese I ate I’m gonna cry, just overestimate)
a bunch of m&m’s (just rounding to the serving size cause it was either that or less 140)
not really that good. almost purged, but nothing came up and i’m trying to beat the urges to. no school, so i slept in and also made like 3 cups of tea (green w/lemon,cinnamon,and apple cider vinegar; black cherry; raspberry) and two tea ‘lattes’ (half a cup of raspberry, drank the rest warm; peach but instead of being like a cup it was like 3 cups of water w/ ONE tea bag lol). plus i went roller skating with a few friends and found some new motivation to starve the fuck out of myself, but won’t be able to workout for at least a week or more in order to heal from my bruises - i physically can’t move.
however.
at night you’re heavier than in to morning, right?
i weighed 134.2 lbs this morning. 133 lbs this night. almost cried.
usually i do intermittent fasting and fast from the night before to when I get home from school and weigh less, but i guess skipping all your meals and then b/p at 10pm for a few days after eating only 300 for two days really does your body in.
another thing; i really need to start working out more. I feel so much stronger and look a lot thinner when I do, so I’m thinking of starting to walk for a 30mins-1hr everyday or doing power yoga instead of the usual HIIT or cardio I do so i don’t break my body and you know, die.
moreover, i’m practicing transitions for the essay i’m gonna have to write in english lol. anyways, i denied cravings SO WELL today!!!! at the roller skating rink there was a bunch of candy ($1-$1.50 ea.) and pizza (like $5) and junk but all I got was a glass of ice that was 50 CENTS AND SUPER FILLING. after skating my friend’s mom took me back to their house, on the way there they got McDonalds and I DIDNT GET ANYTHING! then my dad picked me up from their house and we stopped at McDonalds again, and you know what I ate again? N O T H I N G, and they had freshly made fries. I told my friend’s mom I would be eating out with my parents later on, and then told my dad I ate a lot at the roller rink. I was so proud. I got home and I called a friend, didn’t end up eating lunch/dinner till around 8pm. a year ago, i would have never been able to resist McDonalds, especially twice like that. progress?
lastly. I’m thinking of telling my friend about my ‘eating disorder,’ even tho i would call it at least disordered eating, an eating disorder is like too much, plus idk even know what I’d have (ana? atypical ana? binge eating disorder? bulimia? orthorexia? god knows). he already knows about all the other shit I’ve done (cutting, depression, how much I hate myself, etc). Idk, I feel like I should. He doesn’t go to my school so he can’t force me to eat, I just don’t want him telling my other friends that do go to my school, or not believing me because I’m not skinny at all. I guess I should, idk this feels too much like recovery and god knows I’m nowhere near mentally prepared for that. I already told my other friend that I would explain why I was so depressed (my eating disorder) by my birthday cause I plan to at least be at my ugw by then, if not super close, so. Idk. If I do, it’d have to be tonight though, don’t know if he’s awake.

That almond milk latte may be delicious, but a study just published in the Journal of Food Science and Technology suggests that the trendy beverage also has some drawbacks. When researchers compared the nutritional profiles of four popular “alternative” milks, they found that soy milk came out on top—and that almond, rice and coconut “milks” all lacked essential nutrients important for overall health.
Plant-based “milks” are often marketed as wholesome and appropriate substitutes for the real thing. To find out if these claims measured up, scientists at McGill University in Canada studied the nutrition labels of several unsweetened almond, soy and rice milks, plus coconut dairy-free beverages, on grocery-store shelves.
Cow’s milk, the researchers say, is still the most complete and balanced source of protein, fat and carbohydrates. Soy milk, a popular alternative option for more than four decades, was found to be the most comparable to cow’s milk in terms of overall nutrient balance. It’s also the highest in protein of all the alternative milk options studied, with about 7 to 12 grams (and about 95 calories) per 8-ounce serving.
Soy milk also contains phytonutrients known as isoflavones, which have been shown to have cancer-fighting properties. It’s not a perfect substitute, though; some people complain about its “beany flavor,” the authors wrote, and some scientists have expressed concerns about “anti-nutrient” substances naturally found in soy, like phytic acid, which can make it harder for the body to absorb and digest important vitamins and minerals.
Almond milk, on the other hand, is low in calories (about 36 per serving) and rich in monounsaturated fatty acids. Getting more of these healthy fats may be beneficial to weight loss and weight management, the authors wrote, and they have also been shown to reduce LDL—or “bad”—cholesterol. But almond milk is also low in protein and carbohydrates, making it less nutritionally balanced than cow or soy milk.
Meanwhile, dairy-free coconut beverages have no protein. And although it’s low in calories (about 45 per serving), most of that energy comes from saturated fat. On the plus side, the report states, drinking this type of beverage has been associated with increases in HDL—or “good”—cholesterol and reductions in LDL cholesterol.
Sweet-tasting rice milk can serve as an alternative for people with allergies to soybeans and almonds, but it’s high in calories (133 per serving) and relatively low in beneficial nutrients. Research suggests that “consumption of rice milk as an alternative to cow’s milk without proper care can result in malnutrition,” the authors wrote, “especially in the case of infants.”

Cow’s milk, by comparison to the dairy alternatives, contains about 158 calories per 8-ounce serving, along with 8 grams of protein, 9 grams of fat (5.5 of it saturated fat), and 11.5 grams of carbohydrates. That’s the “perfect composition of nutrients” for baby cows, the authors wrote in their paper, and it’s similar to the composition of human breast milk.
Milk is also an important source of vitamins and minerals—including calcium, which the body needs for bone health, especially during childhood and adolescence. Most milk substitutes are fortified with calcium to mimic the levels in cow’s milk, although the authors point out that “further research is needed to establish the consequences of added calcium in the human body.”
So why the need for alternatives? For one, dairy is one of the most common allergens among infants and children. Between 2% and 4% of children have a milk allergy (that’s more than peanuts or tree nuts), although as many as 80% may outgrow them by age 16. Plus, milk has been linked to outbreaks of pathogens such as salmonella and E. coli around the world, suggesting that it’s not always the safest beverage for children or for adults.
Then there’s the issue of lactose intolerance. Somewhere between 15% and 75% of adults—depending on race, food habits and gut health—lack sufficient amounts of the enzyme needed to properly digest dairy products, according to the report. It’s even been estimated that up to 80% of people of African origin, and up to 100% of people of Asian and Indigenous American origin, are lactose intolerant.
Finally, while studies suggest that dairy products—even full-fat versions—can be a healthy part of a balanced diet, some people may not want to overdo it on high-calorie, high-fat cow’s milk. For all of these reasons, the authors say, consumers should know how popular milk substitutes compare.
“It is quite clear that nutritionally soy milk is the best alternative for replacing cow’s milk in human diet,” they concluded in their paper. They acknowledge, though, that more people may enjoy the flavor of almond milk. Those who choose the latter should make sure they’re getting enough essential nutrients, like carbs and protein, through other sources in their diet, they write.
That should be easy enough for adults, says lead author Sai Kranthi Kumar Vanga, a PhD candidate in McGill’s department of bioresource engineering, since they can also get protein from meats, nuts and beans, and healthy fats from sources such as olive oil. It can be more difficult, he adds, for babies and young children with dairy allergies. “Parents have to monitor their diet and provide them with appropriate alternatives for the lost nutrients, which is not easy,” he wrote in an email.
And while swapping out a few tablespoons of milk in your coffee every day won’t make a big difference in overall nutrition, Vanga says there could be implications for adults who consume considerably more milk—like every morning with their cereal. “Just replacing your cow’s milk with one of the plant-based milks and assuming it’s fulfilling the nutritional requirement could lead to health complications in the long run,” he says.
