Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra (1992)
Playing this in 2024 I'm honestly surprised how it came out with all that racial and national stereotypes. But I guess back then in 1992 it was common. The same surprise I had also playing Leisure Suit Larry.
But apart of it the game is unique in a way. It is a murder mystery, with a bit of romance, that is divided into 6 acts. And instead of revealing the murder's identity, you will have to name him. The atmosphere is 1920s and it brought very well. Most of the game you spend in the museum, where you can find some real pieces of history, but also a lot of funny made-up descriptions. Also I love female characters in the game, they're fun and memorable. (The male characters are much less fun though, also most of them sound like chauvinistic swines)
Act 1 - as an aspiring journalist, Laura Bow is getting her first job in Tribune newspaper to write an article about stealing of recently founded ancient artifact - The dagger of Amon Ra. She is traveling New York and getting ready to attend the event at the Leyendecker Museum where all the main suspects will gather at 19:00
Act 2 - In this Act Laura Bow mostly talking to suspects and listening to gossip, until she finds the first body.
Act 3 - Act 4: From now on most of the suspects will be found dead in different parts of museum - and the job of Laura will be to gather all the possible clues - and if she could, also to question suspects - until they die. You will have to listen to dialogues you are not supposed to hear, find secret passages and steal evidence. (Do not try it at home, kids)
Act 5 - Has a bit of action, and if you missed some items before, you won't be able to pass further.
Act 6 - Laura Bow (if survive) will need to name suspect and motive for every murder, also answer several questions about some shenanigans going around in museum.
The Dagger of Amon Ra overall is easier than other Sierra games, and has less dead ends. But you will need to be observant to get all the suspects and motives right in Act 6 to get the good end (there are three possible endings). Act 1 and Act 2 can be a bit repetitive, but from the act 3 the game is playing like a mystery novel in Agata Christie's style. Some moments are a bit gruesome, but the dark humor is a feature of older quests.

I've been working on a big project the last couple of months that I cant share anything from just yet. In the meantime, enjoy some classic early Sierra DOS game fanart.
