best of the Taskmaster NZ diss track team task 1/?
[ID: Three-piece gifset of a team task from Taskmaster New Zealand Season 2, where the two teams had to write and perform a diss track about each other. David Correos animatedly and intensely raps “I’m gonna gonna gonna drown you / in your own blood / hold your face down in your own blood now”. Paul Williams, sitting on a couch in the background, is looking on with a smile, trying to suppress a laugh. Guy Montgomery and Laura Daniel are sitting at a desk, Guy laughing in disbelief and Laura’s mouth hanging open in amused shock. End ID.]
Taskmaster NZ Teams and the very specific vibes they give off (to me)
David Correos, Guy Montgomery, and Laura Daniel: two young teenagers who have inadvisedly been told to watch their younger brother with severe ADHD while their parents go out for the evening. Five minutes after their parents pull out of the drive, he is somehow on the roof naked.
Matt Heath and Urzila Carlson: Coworkers who low key hate the company they work for and most people at the place, but they’re cool with each other and spend most days sending memes over WhatsApp back and forth and daring the boss to say anything. Their coffee is hella spiked.
Loved it. Episode 9 is possibly the funniest episode of Taskmaster of any season of Taskmaster UK or NZ I've seen. Paul Williams as the Taskmaster's assistant anchors the show. I am lukewarm on Jeremy Wells as the Taskmaster. Isla is convinced that he's hilarious and exemplifies straight-faced, deadpan Kiwi humour. I just think he seems bored and boring. He's not terrible, he's just fine.
There were some very good tasks this season. Making Laura betray her teammates with her own separate task was genius. Taskmaster is such a well-designed show and whoever writes the tasks for Taskmaster NZ did a good job coming up with varied and funny tasks. I think any competent comedian/entertainer would find it difficult to totally flop on this show. Taskmaster NZ does a great job of spotlighting the best of New Zealand comedians and making them shine. Bit of a shame that you have to be based in Auckland to get on it, but oh well.
I hope Taskmaster NZ continues to be renewed for a few more seasons, not least because I hope more people I know get to be on it. I hope it continues having two to three female contestants each season. I mean, I would absolutely love an all-female Taskmaster, but I live in the real world so I know that's not gonna happen.
The new Mortal Kombat isn’t bad at all. Very entertaining and obviously super cheesy like the original. Every scene with Joe Taslim (Bi-Han/Sub Zero) and Hiroyuki Sanada (Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion) is amazing. A shame there weren’t more.
As much as I like Lewis Tan (Cole Young) I had the urge to fast forward ALL of his scenes. Cole Young’s story is so cliché and over used that it’s just bland. That’s the main thing I didn’t like about the movie and unfortunately, it’s centered on him. His wife was more entertaining than him and she had maybe 5 minutes of screen time.
Jax was cool. I wanted more Sonya Blade. Kabal was awesome. But the real MVP of this movie is Josh Lawson (Kano). He stole every scene he was in. EVERY SCENE.
Mortal Kombat is worth the watch for all of Taslim, Sanada, and Lawson’s scenes alone.
