Kellyanne Conway just got a strong reminder why Republicans have a problem winning over young voters.
The former Donald Trump adviser went on Fox News on Monday night to discuss the GOP’s electoral chances, and she admitted to host Laura Ingraham that the party has “some work to do” with millennials and Gen Z.
But she suggested Democrats’ success with the demographic was due to messaging ― not policy.
Tumblr media
Conway cited President Joe Biden’s plan to enlist social media influencers in his yet-to-be-announced reelection campaign, calling it a “smart strategy” and telling Ingraham she was “really concerned” about Democrats being a “turnout machine” for younger voters.
She’s right that Republicans have an uphill battle when it comes to getting new voters to their side.
A 2020 NBC exit poll revealed 65% of voters between the ages of 18 and 24 voted for Biden, his strongest age group by 11 points.
But the conservative pundit didn’t do much to woo young people herself, choosing instead to decry influencers’ “lemming-like effect” on young voters, who just “want to be part of the same crowd.”
Twitter users weren’t buying it, of course.
One young voter, 2020 Biden delegate Victor Shi, had some helpful suggestions.
“Hey Kellyanne Conway: instead of complaining how young people are voting for Democrats, maybe you & your party should actually do something to address our concerns,” the UCLA undergraduate tweeted. “Instead of taking away our rights & banning books & drag shows, listen to us & enact real policies. Just a thought.”
Tumblr media
Other people wondered how Conway could speak to winning young voters when she has such a rocky relationship with 18-year-old daughter Claudia Conway.
“Kellyanne can’t even get her own teenage daughter to be on her side politically but sure, interview her for advice on how to turn out the youth vote,” read one post that was liked over 10,000 times.
Tumblr media
The younger Conway is already a vocal critic of conservatives. She celebrated Trump’s indictment last Tuesday with a tweet saying she’d been “waiting” for his arrest since she “was 14.”

Fox News Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dominion accused Fox of defaming it by repeatedly airing, in the weeks after the 2020 presidential election, false allegations by Trump allies that its machines and the software they used had flipped votes to Biden — even as many at the network doubted the claims and disparaged those who were making them.
The company sued both Fox News and its parent, Fox Corp., and said its business had been significantly damaged.
During a deposition, Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch, who founded the network, testified that he believed the 2020 election was fair and had not been stolen from Trump.
"Fox knew the truth," Dominion argued in court papers. "It knew the allegations against Dominion were 'outlandish' and 'crazy' and 'ludicrous' and 'nuts.' Yet it used the power and influence of its platform to promote that false story."

Ten days after the 2020 election, Fox News' so-called Brain Room looked into conspiracy theories that Dominion Voting Systems had rigged the presidential election against Donald Trump.
The fact-checking and research division of the network came back with a clear decision: Those claims were false. But the misinformation went on the air anyway.
Details of the Brain Room's fact-check were revealed Wednesday in newly released slides from a presentation by Dominion, which the company showed at last week's pretrial hearing in its $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News and its parent company, Fox Corp. The slides cite internal communications and testimony.
Fox News had redacted the Brain Room findings, but the judge ordered Tuesday that they be made public.
Testimony from Fox’s own executives underscored the importance of the Brain Room’s role in verifying information that goes on the air.
“If the brain room had concluded that the charges were, in fact, false, they never should have been aired, correct?” a Dominion lawyer asked David Clark, Fox News’ senior vice president for weekend news and programming, in a deposition on Oct. 21.
“Yes,” Clark replied.

They lied to the public about the election being stolen but their private communications proves that they knew they were lying.
The good news is, Dominion has more lawsuits pending.
Tumblr media
There’s no telling how a legal case will really turn out, but my only regret is that there won’t be any courtroom footage of Rupert Murdoch admitting under oath that he lied and he knew he was lying.

They don't want the truth (or care about it)
(Fox's Laura) Ingraham: Now, no one should really get hung up as sometimes Republicans want to do on whether sufficient proof exists to convict Joe Biden of a financial crime. That's irrelevant here.

Dumbest Thing I've Ever Heard: 7/21/2023
Note: Starting Monday, 7/24/2023, the amount of entries on this list will be upped from three to, at most, five. Due to this, I have also decided to open submissions to the blog.
Third place: Dagen McDowell of Fox News
Today on Outnumbered, she said the following about a story revolving around--prepare yourselves, this might be the scandal that brings Biden down--the President wearing sneakers:
Well I made a joke last night on Hannity, those shoes, my father will be 87 in a week, and to a man of that generation wearing those shoes, particularly as commander in chief in public, when you're going on, this is formal business -- that's the equivalent of wearing your bedroom slippers outside. That's like wearing a speedo and flip-flops to a funeral. So these elitist snobs in the White House are blithely lying to the American people over and over again because they think we're stupid, and we're not. We've cared for elderly parents and relatives and we can look at this man and see what's going on. We know dementia, we know age, we know Alzheimer's when we see it. And we look at Joe Biden and think, we would not let him drive our car in an empty church parking lot. We know what's happening with him. It's sad, but distressing.
First off, you have to admire the audacity of somebody to call others snobs while she is saying it's possible a person has a serious mental condition because of their choice in foot wear. Also, Thomas Jefferson was inaugurated to the Presidency in his street clothes. Although, what do I expect from a network that spent weeks during the Obama Administration talking about the color of his suit?
Second place: Laura Ingraham
While engaging in the continuing quest by the media to make RFK Jr.'s Presidential Campaign a thing, we got the normal talking points. Among them that the DNC must be really scared of him because Joe Biden hasn't agreed to debate him yet--never mind that in 2020 Donald Trump not only never debated either Bill Weld, Mark Sanford, or Joe Walsh, but state Republican primaries even cancelled primaries specifically to prevent either of those candidates from getting a foothold within the party.
However, while talking about how popular RFK Jr. is, Laura showed this poll:
Tumblr media
Now fourteen percent is not nothing, especially when you're a primary challenger to an incumbent President. However, after two straight years of Biden bashing by the mainstream media along with the perpetual push to make RFK Jr. into something other than a waste of everyone's time, the odds of RFK Jr. doing any better are rather unlikely. For reference, fourteen percent is about the percent of votes gotten by Newt Gingrich in 2012, John Anderson in 1980, George Wallace in 1976, and Al Gore in 1988. Hardly the battle similar to that Ford and Reagan had for the Republican Nomination back in 1976, fuck it's not even the fight Jimmy Carter and Ted Kennedy had back in 1980 or the fight George Bush and Pat Buchanan had back in 1992.
Winner: Ron DeSantis
I think the headline "Florida Schools Will Teach How Slavery Brought ‘Personal Benefit’ to Black People" from The Daily Beast sums this story up perfectly. The article also notes that High Schools are going to be taught that a deadly massacre against black citizens in 1920 included “acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans.”
I wish to remind you all that Ron DeSantis wants to become President, presumably so he can implement this education system across the country.
Ron DeSantis, you've said the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

What we see with the layers pulled away is that Fox News hosts — Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and others — knowingly and deliberately lied to their viewers over and over and over.
And those same hosts knowingly and deliberately brought guests on their shows and permitted them to lie to viewers over and over and over.
All for the green.
Fox News isn’t about the red, the white, and the blue.
Fox News is about the green.

A veterans group has called on the Pentagon to ban some Fox News personalities from being broadcast in U.S. military facilities.
An advertisement released by the VoteVets progressive political action committee online Monday slammed the conservative network’s prime-time hosts Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity for knowingly pushing the baseless claim that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump.
“The most valuable weapon to the enemy is disinformation,” begins the narrator in the spot. “That’s why the Pentagon spends hundreds of millions training our troops to resist it. Yet, at the same time, the U.S. military uses taxpayer-funded facilities to broadcast disinformation on military bases, knowingly letting false propaganda infiltrate the ranks.”
Carlson, Ingraham and Hannity have “open access to spread their conspiracy theories to U.S. troops,” the voice-over adds.
