“Does that tickle?” W/ Spencer Reid if you are still doing it :)

"Does that tickle?"

It was bad enough that, yes, it tickled, but it was a whole other level of bad, hearing Spencer ask you if it did. He could read a person down to their tiniest micro expressions, and in that moment, you were convinced he asked the question just to fluster you further.

"Y-Youhou- EHEE- t-tehehell meheheee!" You retorted, squeaking when Spencer traced the empty pen from your ear down to your neck.

"Are you aware of the term for this kind of tickling?"

You knew he was itching to tell you via endearing infodump, and despite knowing you'd grow hotter in the face upon hearing his explanation, you shook your head and encouraged him to tell you.

With a grin growing on his lips, Spencer began his ramble. "In 1897, two psychologists by the names of G. Stanley Hall and Arthur Allin coined two different terms for the two types of tickling. The one I'm currently using on you is called 'knismesis,' and it comes from the Ancient Greek word for 'itching.' The term 'knismesis' is defined as light tickling often accompanied by an itching sensation. Though, in your case, it seems to be accompanied by lots of giggling~"

Dr. Spencer Reid was an absolute tease. As you predicted, his explanation made the blood rush to your cheeks and ears, causing them to grow warm. "Your ears seem to be radiating heat much more strongly than before. I've brought about a blush, haven't I~?"

"Shuhuhut ihihihit, youhou smahahartahahass!"

"You do realize that name calling will not work out in your favor, correct, Y/N?"

"Bihihite mehehehee!" He paused his tickling and gazed at you with mischief in his eyes.

"I think it's time I told you about the second type of ticking..."

Before you could even blink, Spencer's hands had found their way to your ribcage, rapidly massaging at the spaces in between and causing you to arch your back and screech, loud laughter leaving your throat. "SPEHEHENCEHEHERRR!" You squirmed side to side, biting your lip to bear with the sensation while your teammate grinned at you.

"Now, this type of tickling is referred to as 'gargalesis,' a term coined from another Ancient Greek word meaning 'to tickle.' It's defined as heavy tickling often leading to laughter. What's fascinating is that these two types of tickling vary in effectiveness from person to person and tickle spot to tickle spot..."

As Spencer continued to ramble, you buried your face in your hands and accepted your giggly fate. Dr. Reid made sure you were very familiar with the difference between the two terms, and ensured you'd be in a giggly mood for the rest of the day.

Istg, having to research tickle info to write for ler!Spencer gets more flustering every time I have to do so 🫢 /lh (also, I hope I made it clear enough that Spencer didn't notice the blush by seeing a physical color, but rather feeling the temperature change 👉🏾👈🏾 I want to remain hyper vigilant about making sure blush is not described as something seen (unless the reader is not a human being and has a glowing blush or somethin 👀 I'm still making that Loki x Alien!Reader part 2) because although we all blush, not everybody has a visible bright pink or bright red blush and it's important to acknowledge that in order to be as inclusive to fic readers as possible)
