Hostess| Kyoya Ootori x reader
Tumblr media
Part seven -  The Fantasy Ball
Pairing : Kyoya Ootori x reader
General rating : Fluff, enemies to love vibes
Word count : 4K
Summary: As only heir to your family you are bound to an arranged marriage with the third son of the powerful house Ootori. His cold behavior is only a mask for you to uncover when you stumble into music room number three.
Monday finally arrived and you were on a mission– Renge was on a mission to find you a prince charming of a boyfriend. In a medieval gown, it will be quite hard to do so, but worth the shot. Tamaki insisted on wearing medieval attire to fit this week’s theme and you took way too much time to prepare in the school’s bathroom because now you are late for the club activities. You tripped a few times on your red gown making your way to the club.
The door was already wide open and you heard snickers from the inside then two voices spoke up. The Zuka Club’s main members, Hinagiku, Suzuran… Why on earth are they at Ouran Academy? You can clearly hear your former classmates trash talk in their fancy way the Host Club. It’s then you hear that suave voice, you could recognize it from everywhere. Benibara… You were her former flame, the first person she ever loved and tried to pursue senselessly. You liked her praises and her affection towards you but it wouldn’t ever work out between the two of you.
“— The notorious Host Club.” That made your blood boil. That’s why it would’ve never worked out between the two of you, she’s so full of herself and her Zuka Club. She loved women, but she loved her club and theater so much more.
“Beni that’s enough.” You finally made your entrance into the ballroom.
“Ma chérie.” She’s holding Haruhi into her arms, but never leaves my gaze.
“The theater is on the east wing of our school… On the first floor. You must’ve missed the map by the main entrance.”
“Perhaps.” Her laugh is dry. “We were leaving with our newest member, Haruhi.” The boys behind you loudly gasp, you exhale angrily.
“Excuse you?”
“She’s been mistreated by the lot of you in the Host Club, we the Lobelia Girls, will take care of her at once.”
“Beni, you can’t just take our students.”
“Haruhi will be treated better at our school.” With that she grabs the other girl in the Host Club and exits the room.
As they all leave the room with your club’s secret member, Tamaki loudly gasps and yells for them to come back.
“What are we going to do?” He’s frantic. “We need to save her from those Lobelia girls!”
“Look, one thing I learned about her is that she’s capable. She will find a way to get out of Benibara’s grasp. “She’s not as helpless as you make her feel.” You brush off Tamaki’s angry gaze. “Right Renge?”
“She’s right! Haruhi will be fine, besides she has the final say in the school transfer and her father too. Without both agreements, she won’t go anywhere.” You were surprised at how accurate she was.
“We can’t stay here and do nothing!” The blond teen passed around the room at an incredible speed.
“If that’s all me and my dear y/n are going boyfriend hunting for the day!” Renge’s grip on your shoulders was hard and urgent. “If we see Haruhi, we will sweep her off her feet and send her back here.” It wasn’t a promise, but it reassured Tamaki as we left the room. You didn’t even care to glance back at Kyoya to see if he was watching you leave, you felt his cold stare right into the back of your head.
Tumblr media
The garden next to the soccer field wasn’t too crowded, so you and Renge sat down on the grass to look at the boys on the team.
“Number 5 is rather handsome. His father is Pierre Beaulieux, a French lawyer who works for your father in his France firm.”
“Nope! No one who’s close to my parents.”
“Number 26 is studying business because both of his parents are real estate agents.” What is the catch with this one? “But he maybe wants to quit the family business.” There it was. “So that’s a no.”
“How do you know so much about the boys at our school?” You laugh.
“I have ears everywhere my friend.” She giggles.
“What about this one?” You looked over at one boy reading on the bench in the garden.
“That is Sasaki Koichi, he wants to be an author. His mother is a  big time celebrity agent. He’s handsome, but not my type. He’s very well spoken and is single.” Perfect! “He’s perfect!” You stood up and carefully made your way towards the very handsome boy.
“Babel : Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution, I heard it’s a great book.” You smoothly (at least tried) start the conversation. “It’s on my ‘to read list’.” He finally looks up and smiles.
“Can I help you?” He seemed confused as to why you were talking to him.
“It’s kind of my way to get the courage to come talk to you, sharing the same love for books. Because you’re cute and smart.” You wanted to die at this very instant. He nods and chuckles.
“That’s the first time someone’s honest with me like that.” He scoots a bit and lets you take a seat next to him. “I’m Sasaki Koichi.” He smiles.
“Y/n L/n. I’m not that forward usually.”
“It’s cool, I like it.” He chuckles. “I like your boldness.”
“Well then, I think you looked really handsome while you were reading.” You added.
“You were pretty cute too, laughing with your friend over there in the grass.” He admits.
“So I wasn’t the only one looking?”
“I guess not.” He smirks and you shiver. He was really charming. He was perfect, truly. He made easy conversation and listened carefully to what you had to say. It’s like you were seen when you spoke about books you liked. You talked until the school bell rang for your next class.
“Do you want to hang out next lunch break?” He says as he’s packing his stuff in his backpack.
“I can't, I  have club activities.” You groan remembering you’ll have to see Kyoya and Tamaki being frantic over Haruhi getting kidnaped by Benibara.
“I can come see you.” He smiles with his full teeth.
“I’d like that. It’s in music room number 3.”
“I’ll see you then!” And with that he leaves you to return to Renge who’s already squealing like a pig.
“See! Day one and you found yourself a future boyfriend.” You blush and punch her arm lightly.
“He’s coming to the club tomorrow.”
“Even more perfect!” She hugs you and proceeds to tell you all about tomorrow's plan.
Tumblr media
The day after, Haruhi is still safe and sound as an Ouran student just as you predicted, but Benibara and her harpies are still hanging around the campus because of their week-long show in your school.
“You look prettier than usual… What’s going on?” Hikaru asks skeptically as he takes in all of you.
“True. She even put some new gloss on her lips… Strawberry.” Kaoru snickers as he pulls out the tube of gloss in your bag.
“You idiots!” You scowl both of them. “Don’t touch my stuff!”
“A pretty boy caught your eyes.” Kaoru kept going and his brother followed his steps.
“Or a pretty girl?”
“Good god…” You groan. “Oh my pretty flower’s got a crush!” Tamaki chants in and you want to die at this very moment. “I wonder who he or she is? He’s going to have to go through mommy and daddy first!” He says proudly and you can’t help but burst into laughter.
“Who’s who and who?” You
“He refers to me as mommy and he’s daddy.” Kyoya snorts. “Usually used when he speaks about Haruhi.”
“I definitely see more Tamaki as a mommy and you as the daddy,” You start with a hint of flirting in your tone. “but then again looks can be deceiving.” It was a low blow even for you he huffs. Mori comes over to pat you on the head and smiles.
“You do look pretty today.” He simply says and you blush. The rare words he spoke, especially to you, were kind and most of the time referring to your beauty, but you blushed everytime like it was the first time.
“Okay hosts!” Renge’s theatrical voice rings from everywhere in the room, yet she’s nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, the ground started to shake and a stage slowly lowered from the ceiling. ‘What the fuck?’ You thought.
“That was hidden there this whole time?” You asked Mori and he shrugs.
“Today’s theme is the Fantasy ball.” The stage finally is settled and a whole wardrobe of epic fantasy clothes are shown. “In our school, the amount of high fantasy books that are read through the library has spiked through the roof by 80% from last year's data.” She starts. “We will host a ball in honor of the Faerie Queen, y/n.” She points at you and you gulp in fear as if you haven’t heard all about it yesterday. “You will all be loyal servants to the Queen and serve her hosts.” She proceeds to state their roles. Hikaru and Kaoru the romantic bards. Honey and Mori as the charming archers. Tamaki and Kyoya as the queen’s mysterious knights. Haruhi was a beautiful prince from far away lands.
The whole plan was to get Haruhi more popular so she could pay her debt faster and keep the most popular hosts in reserve while you were the center of all the attention.
“That’s…” Tamaki starts and you're afraid he’s going to refuse as if you had time to change the theme. The guests are about to arrive. “Fantastic! I love the idea, why haven’t I thought about that before?” He slaps the top of his head in annoyance. “Everyone get ready!” We all rushed to the wardrobe and picked our outfits that Renge chose for us. You got a beautiful long crimson red silk dress that hugged your curves in a loving manner, gold threads embroidered in the laced long sleeves. It was a revealing dress, showing a little more cleavage than school rules. Renge finally puts the golden crown that looks like stag antlers on top of your head and walks you over to your throne.
“You didn’t even have 24 hours to do this, how did you do it?” You were in awe at the stage she had put up, with the wardrobe and everything.
“Just say thank you.” She smiled and went over to the ballroom door. “Are you all ready?” She practically yells. Your two knights stood beside you and you swore under your breath. They both looked so hot in their red armor. She opened the doors and it was like a tsunami, hundreds of students entered at the same time into the ballroom. Music that felt like you were in a real fantasy started to play and you felt oddly at ease. “I welcome you to the Queen’s ball.” Renge announced before presenting our characters.
“May I help you ser Ootori?” You glance up at Kyoya who already had his eyes on you.
“You look nice.” He smirks before gazing in the distance. “Your highness.” He adds and it makes your heart skip a beat.
“I know.” You reply foolishly, making Tamaki snort.
You saw deep in the crowd Haruhi dancing away with multiple ladies. Your plan was working so far, now you just need to wait for Koichi. You were really eager to see him, you thought it clicked between the two of you. The large doors opened once more and it was him! He was in awe from all the theatrics of your club, how could he not? It wasn’t long until he noticed you, you were indeed the Belle of the ball, the main event! He was escorted by Renge herself to the stage where he giggled when he finally got in front of you.
“I didn’t think the next time I’d see you, you’d be the faerie queen of the music room number three.” He chuckles and so do you.
“I promise it’s not as extravagant as this all the time.” Tamaki coughs next to you. “Scratch that, it is always this fancy, I’m just not the main event.” You hid your face behind the fancy feather fan Renge literally tossed at you earlier.
“May I ask the Queen to dance, then?” He politely bows before you and you blush at his manners.
“She is to remain on her throne.” Kyoya’s tone is dry and sharp. “You may ask another partner in the crowd.” Your head snapped towards Kyoya because you were shocked about his reaction.
“I’ll dance with you.” You tell Koichi, standing up by yourself and taking the hand he held towards you.  As he led you to the dancefloor, you looked back and pulled your tongue out to Kyoya. Tamaki’s head snapped to his friend in shock as if he knew… As if it finally snapped in place.
Koichi carefully places one of his hands on your hips and the other gently holding your hand. He then takes the lead and starts dancing in the crowd of people, twirling you around.
“So what’s this club?” He asks looking around still not able to figure out whatever he’s thinking of.
“It’s a host club, we entertain the students by charming them and making them smile.” You were honest about your club, you had no shame in it.
“I thought you’d be more into the music club instead of this one.”
“It wasn’t my first choice, trust me.” You spin around and meet eyes with Kyoya. “Pride took over.” Maybe even jealousy.
“I chose the literary club, but it’s kind of a bore when none of them want to share their experience with the others in the book they are reading, sometimes I feel like I should’ve chosen my second choice.”
“Which was?”
“The soccer team.” He chuckles and so do you.
The entire lunch break you danced and spoke with Koichi like you’ve known him forever. You almost forgot all about your worries, it was only the two of you giggling like idiots and talking about your common interests. When the bell finally rang, to your discontent, he kissed the top of your hand before returning to his preoccupations as were the crowd of ladies. Renge didn’t miss a second before rushing to your side, squealing like a pig.
“I told you this was going to work! Have you seen Haruhi? She got so many more guests than usual and maybe 80% of them chose Haruhi as their new favorite host!” You were in shock that this part of the plan actually worked so much.
“That’s great! You’ll have to tell Kyoya all about it so he can recalculate Haruhi’s debt.” As soon as the words fell from your lips your eyes wandered to Kyoya heading to the changing room already half of his costume taken off.
Tumblr media
Kyoya ignored you the entire day and the day after. You were stuck in science class with him and he didn’t say a word to you other than the politeness to ask for you to move out of the way so that he could use the microscope. You tried to engage in a normal conversation, but he was cold and insistent that he was not interested in anything other than what you were both studying under the microscope.
You wanted to tell him that he would be free of you in a matter of weeks if it goes well with Koichi that you’ve got the chance to hang out with this break earlier during your club activity again, but he didn’t want to hear a word you wanted to say. It felt like you were nothing to him, not that you ever were, but it still hurts.
The day after he also ignored you, the calls and the texts all left on read…
You spent your dinner breaks in the Music Room with Koichi while you were accomplishing your duties as a Host and you loved the way he was an easy talker, he would laugh at all of your jokes and engage in conversations about your club, genuinely interested.
You were going to confess to him today! You had to, the earlier the better! You paced around the garden waiting for Koichi, you sent him a quick text to meet you there. You were anxious, you wanted to throw up right into the rose bush. Were you really going to do this? Going behind your father’s back to find yourself a match, ruin the family plan to create another… Were you crazy to do so? Probably. You couldn’t think straight. All you were thinking about is Koichi and his short and perfectly placed black hair and his smile.
“Hey y/n.” A tap on your shoulder is felt and it was him! You weren’t prepared for him to be here this fast. He’s completely taking you off guard.
“Hey Koichi, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to see each other more, because I kind of like you– I mean hanging out with you and I…” You were rambling over your own words, even when he was confused about what you were asking him. “I’m asking you out on a real date, with me.” You finally spit out the words you were chewing on for the last thirty seconds.
“Are you serious?” He snorts. “No.” It was flat and humorless. “You’re just a host. It’s your job to find more guests and to make me smile and to sway me with your words.” His words hurt you deeply, he thought you were using him, but you really enjoyed his company.
“Koichi, that’s not what it’s about… I like you.” His laugh is dry.
“We both know it was just for fun, it meant nothing more than to pass time during our breaks. Besides, I didn’t think you were serious, I was just another guest.” You were angry at his reaction. “You’re serious.” It was like lightning struck him and he chuckled sharply.
“You’re being mean.” The trembling in your voice only meant that you were on the verge of crying.
“Don’t be like that. You had to know that this felt like an act, because in class you look like the most unapproachable girl in this school.”
“Stop it.” You had tears in your eyes, you were fuming.
“You should try to smile more often, people might want to talk–”
“She told you to stop.” A deep voice is heard behind you. "Apologize." Kyoya. You look behind you to see his tall figure walk towards you, slowly, as if he was giving Koichi time to run away.
“Or we will tell the school director that a certain someone is stirring some trouble for a defenseless girl.” Tamaki’s gentle voice rings behind Koichi. You snap your head around and see the rest of the Host Club with him. They do have a way to make an entrance.
“Guys, it’s not what it looks like.” He was afraid of them, afraid of what they might do to his reputation. They were the most popular and successful of this school, both them and their families.
“Is it? Because you clearly made one of our honorary members cry.” Hikaru speaks and you notice that you were in fact crying. “And we don’t appreciate it when one of our friends cries.” He adds.
“You can understand that right?” Kaoru smirks.
“Now apologize to her and get out of my sight.” Kyoya’s voice rang like thunder.
“I’m sorry y/n… It was rude of me.” He spit out not even daring to look you in the eyes. “I misinterpreted your intention and hurt you.”
“It’s fine Koichi.” You mumble. You were ashamed and drained. He doesn’t wait before he dashes away from that encounter. Everyone rushed to your side to see if you were okay, but you took a step back from everyone. You were angry and so, so sad.
“What is wrong with you!” You exploded. The boys took a step back as you raised your voice at Kyoya. “Thank you for being there for me guys, but Jesus… It was already embarrassing enough, I didn’t need the entire Host Club to witness me getting my heart broken for the thousandth time since school started!” You were crying again. Kyoya’s hand reached your shoulder but you pulled away. “You keep denying me, you don’t want nothing with me, but when I try to find someone you have to get in my way! I was going to explain to him how I truly felt and that it was just a misunderstanding, it would’ve been just fine after that.” He was shocked at your burst out.
“He clearly wasn’t interested in you.” He starts and you laugh. You felt hysterical.
“That makes another one on the list.” You scoff. “I guess I am nobody’s cup of tea and I just have to accept a loveless marriage.” You wanted to scream and shout every profanities known to the world at that very moment. Kyoya opened his mouth to speak. “Leave me alone from now on.” You walked past crying your heart out. A strong hand placed on your shoulder, you spin around ready to slap Kyoya right across his stupid face but it wasn’t him. It was Mori. “I’m sorry guys, I’m quitting the Host Club. I just can’t do it anymore.” He let go of you and you rushed to the bathroom, hoping no one saw you.
You stood in front of the mirror looking at your messed up makeup and your red eyes.
What was wrong with you?
Why couldn’t you be loved the way you wanted…
Why couldn’t he love you?
Renge’s words echo in the back of your mind: “You’re enough!”
You were. Maybe not for everyone, but you had to be for you. Because it mattered more than any boy's attention in the world. Koichi wasn’t true to you, he wasn’t genuinely interested in you like you thought, but it doesn’t matter, you still have your dignity… What’s left of it, that is.
You took a good look at yourself in the mirror and wiped the messed up makeup, the tears and all the troubles away with the cold water from the sink.
“Screw it.” You tell yourself before exiting the bathroom and walking towards your locker to put back the Host jacket and putting on a cardigan the same color, you did in fact quit the club, so it wouldn’t be appropriate to wear the uniform that comes with it. You close your locker door and gasp when you turn face to face with Honey.
“What an idiot.” His high pitch voice says unamused. “That Koichi is a complete idiot.”
“Figured that out by yourself?” You snort, but he doesn’t find it funny. “I’m sorry… I just don’t feel like talking to anyone right now.” You admit and he smiles brightly.
“Well I’m not anyone, I’m Honey Senpai who brings sweets to sweet ladies.” He pulls out front his back a plate with pancakes on it. You raised an eyebrow.
“You think you can have your way with sweets?”
“It’s Korean sweet pancakes.” His voice was melodious as if he was baiting you… You grabbed one of the pancakes and his smile became wider. You took a bite out of it and it tasted as you remember, soft and chewy with a delicious filling made from cinnamon, brown sugar, and chopped walnuts. “There, there.” He pats the top of your head. “Now would you come back to the club?”
“No.” You say sharply between bites.
“I thought you would be fooled by the pancakes the school chef made.” That was his plan all along to bait you back into the club and it almost worked.
“It takes more than that to make me change my mind. Besides, I’m pretty sure I made a fool of myself in front of Koichi and the club, I don’t think anyone would want to talk to me ever again.”
“I would.” He melts your heart. With only that you wanted to change your mind, but it would be too hard to face him again.
“I’m just really sad right now, Honey. I– I don’t even know if I want to go back.”
“It’s okay. I get it. If that’s any help, we don’t blame you for yelling. I for a fact, don’t.” He adds as you both start walking to your next class.
“You don’t get it.”
“Sure Kyoya’s been a jerk a few times, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. When we heard you crying, he was already out of our sight, by your side.”
“I guess the secret is out.” You rolled your eyes.
“You were pretty obvious with it.” You snort. You guessed you were. “Look, Kyoya has never been a big theatrical guy like Tamaki, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care or love like any other human being.” His gentle touch on your shoulder sparks something deep in your heart and you welcome his touch.
“Well he hasn’t given me the time of the day since the moment we met... When he does get closer to me, he yanks himself back and we’re back at square one.” You sigh in annoyance.
“You don’t know him well, then.” With that he leaves to his class. You don’t know him well… It’s true. You wanted to know him, but he kept pushing you away every time you got too close. That’s what it would only be, pulling and pushing… pulling and pushing…
A/N : I promise this is the last of the depressing chapters! Were hoping unto the spicy and angsty train next chapter. I wanted some spicyness to this chapter, but it didn’t fit with the original idea of it, but yeah... Next chapter is going to be happier, more fun and I guess spicy in a way and a lot for y/n who’s figuring out her love life.

What the Ouran Members Would Bring to the Gift Exchange:
Heads up, this is aggressively long at 1k words, but it was a blast and a half to write, so enjoy!
Honey - He’s been forever banned from bringing sweets because he either a) eats them all on the way home from the store, b) eats them at home in the middle of the night, c) eats them all on the way to the party, or d) guilt trips whoever gets his gift into giving him the tasty snack. Thus, Honey is NOT allowed to bring anything edible -  Honey brings the largest, fluffiest, and pinkest stuffed animal bunny that money could possibly buy.
Mori - Baby chickens - this guy loves his animals, and assumes that naturally everyone else also loves animals, right? He hadn’t been watching his roosters and chickens as closely as he thought he’d had, and baby chickens hatched! So, he brought the joy of life to the gift exchange. This year it was held at the twins’ place, and Kyoya made the mental note to put in NO LIVE ANIMALS ALLOWED AS GIFTS OR IN MY HOUSE in the invitation note when it was his turn to host the next year.
Kaoru -  A collection of his favorite books, teas, and candies. He was hesitant at first because some of the books meant a lot to him, and he was sensitive about being teased about the things that truly meant something to him. He still went with this gift though because it would be fun to enjoy now that it was cold outside, and they all couldn’t go out as much as they wanted.
Hikaru - A giant chest full of magic and prank toys. Some are quite expensive and others are cheap, commoner ones that he’d been researching for a few weeks. It’s an odd gift for the exchange, but they are all odd members, and Hikaru actually put a surprising amount of thought into the gift.
Haruhi - A bento box. Haruhi was desperate for ideas on what to give the richest people she knew, the ones who had just about anything they could possibly desire. As the day for their first gift exchange drew nearer, and was thinking of ways to get out of the event, she overheard the twins discussing how much they wanted to try her cooking again. Whether a planned overhearance or not, Haruhi thought that a bento box would be a great idea. When thinking it over, the only one who wouldn’t like the box would be Kyoya, and even though her luck in regards to the club was 50/50 for good or bad, she liked the 5 out of 6 chances that someone would be thrilled. She searched everywhere for a cute present shaped box, all green with a red bow. She carefully cooked the rice, rolled the omlet, and put the food together nicely. Haruhi also made some cookies and placed them in a pretty bag to go with the bento. It was a lovely gift, and, as expected, the most fought after gift at the exchange.
Kyoya - A crisp new dollar bill. There is a graph of How Recently have the Club Members Annoyed Me to How Much the New Bill Will Be constantly tallied up in his head. He even, out of boredom, created an app for that sole purpose of being able to show the chart to Tamaki when Tamaki accused Kyoya of going cheap on them all. The 25 recent calls in the span of an hour the week previously about a play by play of making snowman and then Oudette eating the carrot did not help in Tamaki’s favor. Kyoya also gets away with just giving money because, well, he’s Kyoya, and because he does actually go to the bank (or at least, sends someone), and he can make the argument that it’s essentially the same as going to the store. Really, Kyoya should have been a lawyer, everyone that has any other complaints about the money, eventually gives up.
Tamaki - A portrait of the entire Host Club smiling and frolicking while playing Kick the Can, painted by himself. He said he’d taken classes for months in order to perfectly capture the liveliness and love between all of the members.
Bonus: Who ended up with what?
Honey: Hikaru’s chest of pranks. He can’t wait to find more ways to torment his brother.
Mori: Haruhi’s bento box - He drew the last number, and used his Ultimate Steal to steal the bento even after it had been locked in by being stolen too many times. He ate a cookie at the exchange ever so smuggly, gave his compliments to Haruhi, and then finished the rest the next day while studying. It was by far the best food he’d eaten all week.
Kaoru: Kyoya’s money. He was thinking of buying a new game with it. He’d seen one in the store, and it would be more enjoyable to play knowing Kyoya had bought it. But then Haruhi messaged in the group chat after the party to let everyone know she’d made it home safely (so they wouldn’t follow her home to make sure of it themselves, most likely), warned them all to be careful in the snow, and wished them once again happy holidays. Kaoru decided at that moment that he really didn’t need more money. He broke the bill down into smaller bills and placed them in Haruhi’s bag when she wasn’t looking throughout the next two months for her to find later. That was like a gift in itself to him when she grinned at having found an extra bit of money she hadn’t realized was there before.
Hikaru: Kaoru’s books, teas, and candies. Kaoru was puzzled because Hikaru could just borrow his, but Hikaru shrugged and took his gift quietly. He’d been feeling a little distant from Kaoru lately, and reading what he enjoyed might help Hikaru find that connection he was craving.
Haruhi: Honey’s bunny. She’s actually quite excited for it, and uses it as a resting cushion when she watches TV and studies. More often than not though, she falls asleep and has the sweetest, softest dreams shrouded in pink.
Kyoya: Tamaki’s portrait. He didn’t particularly want it, he claimed, but he knew it would go for enough money on their auction page to support club activities for nearly a month. The portrait is now hanging in a corner of his room.
Tamaki: Mori’s baby chickens. Tamaki is not known for his ability to think things through, restrain himself, or full picture thinking. He adopted the baby chickens and promptly made them his entire family’s problem.

Hope you don’t mind me asking lol, I stumbled upon your blog and I see you are in the throes of Ouran hyperfixation 😅 What are your opinions on each member of the host club?
yes im definitely in the throes thanks for noticing<3 lol. i'd be delighted to share my opinions on each member of the host club !! this will be LONG bc i have a lot to say about these binches (also this will have manga spoilers). so i'll put it under a cut
Haruhi—honestly what's not to love. she's scruffy and apathetic and grumpy and direct and 300% done with everything, including gender conformity. "these damn rich people" yes king go off. also you're so valid for being 90% motivated by food. it's such a perfect and fascinating idea to drop a person like fujioka haruhi into a group of ridiculous dramatic people like the host club and see how they fare. impressively well, actually. she cleans up nice and is surprisingly charming and intuitive underneath the apathy. but this is only what you find out in like the first episode!!! she grows so much over the course of the story, especially in the manga, and it warmed my heart so much and made me so proud of her 😭 how her relationship with the host club members changed her as a person and even enabled her to better pursue her lifelong dreams. ugh. i love how falling in love with tamaki gave haruhi such a beautiful character arc. first her resistance (which was both understandable and hilarious), because he's so STUPID and RIDICULOUS and in her mind is the last kind of person she'd want to be with, but then she realizes how much she has learned from him and how much he's opened her heart, and she's so inspired by him—to experience new things and understand people better and challenge her preconceived notions and grow to be a better, kinder person, which will make her a better lawyer too. she's actually so brave, to step out of her comfort zone, and connect with others, and to learn how to accept help, when she closed herself off as a coping mechanism when she was so young. she has so much patience to deal with the host club theatrics and a lot of patience with her dad, who is also rather theatrical lol. she had to grow up young and mature so fast and i like how through the host club she learned how to have fun and let other people support and admire her too. ugh i just love her! she has such a soft and good heart and she learns to love so deeply even though it initially went against her nature! she's soooo stray italian greyhound coded to me.
Tamaki—my favorite. one of my favorite characters of all time now actually. im just obsessed with him. i already have a weakness for blond boys with sad backstories and i blorbified him so so fast. as a longtime adrien agreste stan it was inevitable, once i learned about his existence. i saw the most pathetic drama queen loser in all of fiction and i went "yeah he's perfect." i loved him as soon as i watched an episode but i think it was this post that really sold me on him and convinced me to read the manga. i mean isn't he just the guy of all time. as a sillyguy myself i can't not adore him, because he is SO silly and SO dramatic and SO larger-than-life ridiculous, and i am just a big fan of that. but at the same time he has a surprising amount of depth, revealed little by little, that just made me fall even more in love with him as i learned more! cause the thing about tamaki is that everything about him is over-the-top and outlandish—including the size of his heart, and the way he cares about other people, and the lengths he will go to to help them. he's like incredibly narcissistic and incredibly selfless, at the same time. such a fascinating contradiction to me. he has such big feelings whether it's overwhelming grief over a stranger's sob story or unbridled excitement over a mcdonald's happy meal toy. i think all in all tamaki's character can be summed up with one word: love. he just loves everything and everyone to an incomprehensible degree, and that love is transformative. he loves his broken family to the point of wholenesss, and his lonely schoolmates the the point of chosen family, and haruhi to the point of courage—because he was just as confused and afraid as she was, and they both learned to be brave enough to love in a way they always thought was impossible for them. he just loves the whole world and it loves him back, because when you put that much love out there it's bound to be reflected back to you. i love how essentially tamaki annoyed all his friends into becoming his found family lol, because as stupid and obnoxious as he is, he cares SO much, and that's how he won each one over individually, to the point that they'd do practically anything for him. despite being pretty obtuse about himself he's very intuitive about other people and he is able to see them as they really are, in a way they couldn't even see themselves yet, and understand them to a degree that allows them to understand themself. anyway im always crying about him, cause. yeah.
Kyoya—man i love him. so calm and cool and collected and lowkey an evil genius. i love how he plays off tamaki so perfectly. they truly are a married couple lmao. but again!!! in signature ouran fashion, there is much more to him than meets the eye! they're all so much more than the "type" they are assigned! because yes kyoya is the "cool one," the genius one, the guy who always has a plan, the one who's constantly strategizing internally and weighing pros and cons and thinking 9 steps ahead, who only does things for his own benefit … but also underneath he is so passionate. he has all the emotions he tends not to show. fear and anger and grief and love. the anime did such a good job of portraying this because sometimes i think about that scene with him painting inside the golden frame and then it zooms out and he's made a giant beautiful work of art outside the frame, with every color, and i just sort of wanna cry about it. the hidden depths of kyoya ootori...i love that, like haruhi, he learned that it's important to have fun, and if your best friend is a complete idiot, it's good for you! (albeit sometimes detrimental to your health and sanity, lol.) again i loved how they handled it in the anime where in the end he shows his father how intelligent and powerful and in control he was, just to let all of that go, because he found what made him happy, and that was more important than any of it. i love a guy who forms unbreakable bonds first against his will but then puts his whole heart into them! who learns to defy expectations and forge his own path! who learns that happiness is its own end! MAN!! ok also the part in the manga where he spends his whole paris vacation searching for tamaki's mom and completely exhausts himself and falls asleep in the street because of it, just because he wanted to be able to report back to tamaki that she was alive and well. i might cry. im a tamaharu shipper but i have a very soft spot for kyotama.
Kaoru—i get emotional about him sometimes. he is sooooo 😭 ok because at first, the twins are identical both in looks and personality. but as the story progresses, their individuality becomes more obvious, and kaoru reveals himself as the more emotionally mature twin. i love the twins for being mischievous and silly and obnoxious and just a tiny bit evil sometimes, and for always making fun of tamaki (i mean SOMEONE has to), but they both have a lot a depth underneath that which makes them so dear to me 🥺 and kaoru. oh. baby boy. he's so intuitive, often seeing what hikaru is unwilling/unable to see, and so self-sacrificial, always willing to put his brother's needs over his own. the way he was developing feelings for haruhi the whole time, just like hikaru was, but he was the first to realize and admit it to himself, and he gave hikaru space to figure it out too. and then how he is honest with haruhi and confesses to her but in the same breath tells her that his relationship with hikaru is too important to jeopardize, so he bows out gracefully even as he speaks up. UGH! sometimes i just think about that part in the manga where he talks with haruhi about how he wouldn't know what to do if he and hikaru wanted the same thing and both couldn't have it, and then later they have a box of cookies and there's not enough for everyone so he saves his for hikaru, and then haruhi points out that he found the answer to his question, didn't he? about what he would do if they wanted the same thing? so then he ends up stepping back to let hikaru pursue haruhi instead of him, promising to support him, and helping him grow and mature into a better person. wahhhh...... he's a sort of tragic character to me honestly. like it makes me a little sad to think about him. but he just has a good heart, and he ends up happy because the change he was afraid would make him lose the relationships that were most important to him actually made them even stronger.
Hikaru—i think i have a slightly softer spot for kaoru, but i really really love hikaru as well, and i think his character arc is one of the best in the series. he's definitely the brasher/less mature twin in the beginning, who tends to let jealousy and anger get the better of him and he lashes out sometimes because of his frustration and confusion about his own feelings. he struggles with self-awareness and kaoru knows that, which is why he gives hikaru opportunities to self-discover and figure himself out. hikaru falling for haruhi and admitting that to himself and others, even haruhi, was so important for him as someone who always defaulted to keeping others out and viewed everyone but kaoru as an outsider. he really didn't trust anyone but kaoru with his thoughts and feelings, but being part of the club made him open up, examine himself, and consciously choose to mature. one of my favorite hikaru moments is when he dyes his hair dark to show that he's an individual who is separate from his twin and wants to be viewed as such, but at the same time he makes it clear to kaoru that being individuals doesn't mean they have to drift apart or be any less important to each other—and he's determined for them to stay just as close even as they pursue separate paths for the first time in their lives. i also love his rivalry with tamaki over haruhi and how that affects him and forces him to grow. another favorite moment is when he demands that tamaki open his eyes and encourages him to not let his trauma get the best of him. instead of letting tamaki stay ignorant of his feelings for haruhi, which would be to his advantage, he makes tamaki realize them so they could have an equal chance to pursue her. he has so many sweet moments where he feels conflicted about tamaki, wishing he was out of the picture but also feeling so much gratitude and affection for him. he just really loves tamaki, and really loves kaoru, and really loves haruhi, and that love that started out with so much hurt and jealously makes him grow into a more selfless and genuine and mature person, when he finally, like kaoru, bows out and chooses to be happy for tamaki and haruhi. ugh he's a good boy even though he acts like a turd sometimes. lol.
Honey—i don't have as strong of feelings for honey as the others i've gone over but he is still a great character! obviously he's adorable, and i just find him very sweet and enjoyable. and of course the fact that the sweets-obsessed boy lolita who carries around a stuffed bunny is actually a genius and also a martial arts master who can take down 50 guys singlehandedly...yeah it's pretty dope lmao. i love how he learned from tamaki the meaning of true inner strength—not pretending to be something your not for someone else's sake, but being unapologetically YOU and embracing what makes you happy! honey learns to comfortably live a seemingly contradictory life, because he openly loves his cake and cutesie stuff but he remains a strong and well-respected leader and master of the haninozuka martial arts. it's funny and but also very fitting to me that in the manga he ends up with the girl from the black magic club—someone who's different from him in what appears to be every way, but honey is not afraid of contradiction and appreciates people being themselves!
Mori—he's the host i least connect with, just because he doesn't get much focus and also barely speaks lol. but i still love mori! i really admire his loyalty—just the truest friend anyone could ever ask for. he and honey are such an iconic duo. his "lovely item" lol. it's really sweet how much of a natural protector he is—not just how he looks out for honey but also haruhi and the whole host club. he's a very compassionate person with strong principle. one of my favorite mori moments is when he demands a fight with honey just so he feels like he has the right to tell him what to do and remind him to brush his teeth when they're apart for college haha. also shout out to the part where tamaki desperately asks "do you ever think about kissing honey-senpai" because he's freaking out about haruhi and mori says no but later is shown worrying that he screwed tamaki up by lying, because he does actually think about kissing honey 😂
ok this concludes my Opinion Of The Hosts soapbox hour, thank you for asking and sorry i answered:) tldr i love them all lol

A Japanese man has been sentenced to death for an arson attack at a Kyoto animation studio in 2019 which killed 36 people and injured dozens more.
The incident, one of Japan's deadliest in recent decades, killed mostly young artists and shocked the anime world.
Shinji Aoba, 45, pleaded guilty to the attack but his lawyers had sought a lighter sentence on grounds of "mental incompetence".
Judges rejected this however, ruling that Aoba knew what he was doing.
"I have determined that the defendant was not mentally insane or weak at the time of the crime," Chief Judge Masuda said on Thursday at Kyoto District Court.
"The death of 36 people is extremely serious and tragic. The fear and pain of the deceased victims was indescribable," Japanese broadcaster NHK reported him saying.
Many of the animation staff - young artists - were killed after being trapped on the upper floors of the studio as the fire spread.
The attack was one of the deadliest cases in recent decades and sparked national mourning in Japan. The country's public and media have followed the case closely.
How many countries still have the death penalty?
Prosecutors had demanded the death penalty for Aoba, saying he was motivated to attack the studio after believing his work had been stolen. He said Kyoto Animation - known as KyoAni- had plagiarised a novel he entered into their contest.
In July 2019, he burst into the studio during a work day, splashing petrol on the ground floor and setting it alight while repeatedly shouting "Drop dead".
He later said during his guilty plea in September 2023 that he did not think so many people would die.
"I felt I had no other option but to do what I did," he said at the time.
"I feel tremendously sorry and the feeling includes a sense of guilt."
Aoba himself suffered burns to over 90% of his body in the fire, and was only arrested after he had recovered from operations.
"The delusion that KyoAni Studio had plagiarised his work influenced his motivation," prosecutors had told the court.
But they said he was not controlled by such delusions and had full capacity and understanding of his actions.
On Thursday, the judge read out a lengthy reasoning with victim testimonies before announcing the verdict. More than half of the animation studio's 70-strong workforce was killed in the event, and another 32 injured.
"Some of them saw their colleagues engulfed in flames, and some of them are suffering from psychological effects, and they are tormented by feelings of guilt and remorse," said Judge Masuda.
Families of the victims were seen in the court room, with many visibly emotional as the judge read out the details of Aoba's crime, NHK reported.
The outlet reported that Aoba kept his head bowed as the judge read out the death penalty sentence.
Japan retains capital punishment for its most serious crimes, like multiple murders. Those convicted typically remain on death row for years, or even decades. The death penalty is conducted by hanging.
The KyoAni studio in Kyoto is a beloved institution, known for producing films and graphic novels that are well-regarded by fans as well as critics - including K-On! and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

My SO is making me watch Ouran and we just saw the “Kyoya’s Reluctant Day Out!” episode where the host club drags Kyoya out to an expo and leaves him there without his phone and wallet, and Haruhi finds him and has to pay for his food and stuff. There’s a scene in it where Kyoya's talking to a vendor and says “Very well, I’ll buy it. Haruhi, your wallet.”
And now I’m imagining a post-canon Ouran AU where Kyoya breaks bad with his family and so he’s basically Wildly Successful Rich Lawyer!Haruhi’s trophy husband, except that he still acts exactly like Kyoya in canon, and the fucking “Haruhi, your wallet.” scene happens ALL THE TIME.
Also, I think that Tamaki said somewhere that he isn’t likely to inherit his family’s company either? So that’s at least two pathetic, no-income, rich-lifestyle Trophy Boys for Haruhi.
With how often they ask her to buy them things, her “These damn rich people” line is gonna turn into “These damn poor people” real quick XD

Even More on the Tamaki-Ranka parallels from Haruhi’s POV
This meta is posted conveniently in time for Father’s Day. I hadn’t noticed the date and I wasn’t actually trying to post this today but oh well...
OHSHC Manga Spoilers!
I don’t think I’m negatively affected anymore by that anime only scene in the grocery store and no longer find it questionable that Tamaki reminds Haruhi of her father to have that help justify her falling for him to the audience. I’m pretty sure the intent, as made clear, was that it makes her better able to handle him and more quickly endear her to him and his quirks because he’s familiar and safe, which is a point that favours Tamaki in the relationship more. What makes Tamaki a good match for Haruhi however is what he does for her when he embraces his “fatherly duties” towards her. He takes care of her, makes sure she eats/“provides” for her, checks up on her, protects her, and dotes on her similarly to Ryuji that Haruhi doesn’t like—Tamaki is “obnoxious” to her. The rest of the Host Club act the same way to her but they act more like her friends than Tamaki which is why they are the best friend group for her to be in at that specific point in her life when she starts the show, helped along majorly with the mutual desire to be kids and enjoy themselves. What makes Tamaki special, however, other than sharing similarities with her father is brought to attention most evidently below. He and Kyoya are the leaders. Nothing in how Tamaki behaves she believes are necessarily wanted behaviours from him by her. Haruhi as a person is the kind who doesn’t easily accepts help, concern or care from anyone including the rest of the Host Club, and those things aren’t most concretely appreciated by her until she realizes she loves him. Tamaki, however, is the catalyst for so much sudden inspiration in her just as he is for many others he affects:

Tamaki taking care of Haruhi (above and below):

Someone pointed out that Haruhi is affected by parentification and I agree. One of the ways to combat it is by meeting the neglected child’s needs and letting them be secured. I don’t think she’s as badly affected however by it as she could be with Ryuji as her father.
Context of Haruhi’s background: Since Haruhi’s mother’s death, it’s shown that she’s been precocious and independent in attempt to emulate her mother to honour her. She’s successful as she learns to prioritize studying to become a lawyer, playing by herself/emotionally regulate (which is actually surprising for a parentified child and shows Ryuji’s good parenting), “independently” grocery shop, and I believe properly keep track of the finances since Ryuji is canonically horrible with money. She took up the role of her mother essentially. She even sometimes has to console a drunk or overly-emotional Ryuji after a night at the bar, sometimes actively avoiding going home so that she won’t disrupt his sleep or needed personal time away from her. This I recognize as normal and relatable aspects of her character, coming from someone who’s a WOC and from a lower SES background as well. It’s a common struggle to go through. It’s a necessity for survival and that trauma becomes a major part of your personality as you grow up manifesting in healthy or unhealthy ways with either embracing the parentification role completely (Haruhi) or resolving to grow out of it to reclaim childhood (Tamaki - from prioritizing and worrying over Anne-Sophie). Haruhi chose the former end of the spectrum, dealing with things in a relatively healthy way which means there isn’t anything inherent that needs to be changed about Haruhi except for perhaps a balance of things in her life (creating a spectrum of responsibility on one end and security for living carefree in a healthy way on the other).
It isn’t like Ryuji doesn’t notice any of what she does. He actually tries to reciprocate the care she gives him and to rectify the dynamic by being more traditional and overly protective. This does not work as Haruhi grows most comfortable in her role and accepts her father as he is, strongly attaching her attitude to her identity because of her loss and intelligently wanting to prevent failure and hardship. They have both accepted each other and now he can only hope that things will be alright with her. Haruhi finds a great sense of purpose and confidence in herself thanks in part to the watchful eye of Ryuji. That is exactly why the Tamaki-Ranka parallels aren’t nearly as bad as they could be made to be. How I initially thought them to be. Like her relationship with her actual father, Tamaki and Haruhi’s is not perfect but fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun fact: When first reading the manga, I skipped around in the first 40 chapters and landed here. This was the first instance that I felt like Haruhi was falling. Of course, I was wrong as it’s even earlier, much before chapter 57.

Here's some Limbo propaganda.
Imagine if Phoenix Wright and Sonic the Hedgehog had shared custody of the child of Haruhi and Tamaki from Ouran Host Club.
That's how you get Limbo.

tamaki for 11, 17!
11. Driving Headcanon - I dont think we ever saw him drive in the anime or manga, but someone always drove him? I dont see that changing. If he did, I see him being a very anxious driver.
17. Technology Headcanon - Oh I absolutely see him as someone who would constantly buy kitchen appliances smarter than he is because "Its supposed to be better!" while Haruhi is just giving him a LOOK, because she didnt come home from a tough day of being a lawyer to have an argument with the dishwasher. Who is currently winning, btw.

mash soulmate with haniharu, moriharu, kyoharu and renge x haruhi
It wasn't that shocking to have a MASH occur in Ouran. After all, it was just good business sense to see what your future would hold. The spouse part was a bit annoying at times, but if it made the best life... well they would deal.
So when the scholarship student Fujioka Haruhi was offered to do a MASH, people weren't surprised. Excited, given that the student was a popular member of the Host Club, but not surprised.
Haruhi herself however, wasn't that excited. It felt like another annoying thing to deal with while going to school. More so since Tamaki whined loudly about his 'precious daughter' and all.
"What if she gets outed?" Hikaru wondered out loud as Tamaki wailed. "I mean, it'll be boys as her future spouses..."
"I'm bi so maybe not," Haruhi said casually. That got more chaos from the Club as everyone yelled. Not that it mattered, given the Matchmaker showed up so Haruhi got sat at a desk across from her. It felt like the whole school was watching, and knowing Kyoya, it was possible the intelligent teenager had set up a live stream for money.
Haruhi let a drop of blood fall into the ink, and watched as it was dumped on the paper used for MASH. Words began to form, staring with where she would live. Tokoyo or Paris apparently. That was slightly surprising. Number of kids... two, three, one or... six. Ah, no. She would ignore that one. Not gonna happen. Unless it was adoption then maybe.
Jobs came next and Haruhi watched closely. Business lawyer, criminal lawyer, family law lawyer and... divorce lawyer. All good jobs, and all were exactly what she wanted. Well, to be a lawyer anyway.
The next thing to appear where her future spouses. Those she nearly choked at. Morinozuka Takeshi, Ootori Kyoya, Haninozuka Mitsukuni and Houshakuji Renge.
What the actual...
"Ah, what?!" a few girls cried out.
"I'm not Haruhi's soulmate?!" a few others screamed.
"AH! MOE!" others yelled.
Oh, joy.
Haruhi watched as the spiral formed, and then went through the rest of the routine as if in a trance. She never thought of any of her friends like that. Romance seemed so... distant to her mind. Sure, they were attractive. Hani might have been short and acted childish, but he was a handsome teenager with a lot of muscles if you knew how to look. Mori was tall and dark, and very handsome. Kyoya... well, bad boys and all not that she'd admit it. And Renge was adorable, fun and sweet.
But romance? She didn't know. Haruhi didn't believe she was aromantic, but it... she didn't know.
She watched as the MASH began. A mansion, of course, was picked first. Then the number of kids which was two. Good. Her location would be Tokyo, fitting as Renge was knocked out of the running followed by Kyoya. Her job... divorce lawyer. Alright then, she'd heard some horror stories but she would face them all.
Her spouse was next.
Hani.
"Oh wow," she heard the short senior say behind her softly. "I never expected that..."
Haruhi didn't think anyone had. But... she was interested in seeing it through.

Our lovely heroine Haruhi Fujioka is none other than a milk chocolate
Disclaimer: Most of the post has spoilers and is mainly based on the anime.
Tumblr media
Link to where it all started: 2 Lines & A Circle : Flavors of love: chocolate edition So I was... (tumblr.com)
She’s a classic. What can I say? Haruhi is relatable, clumsy, funny, and overall, a good main character. That alone qualifies her for being the perfect member of team milk chocolate, but there’s still more we must dive into. As mentioned in my in-depth description for team milk chocolate, these are main characters with a clear purpose. Haruhi has the purpose of joining the host club to make all her debt back for the vase incident. Before that her goal or rather purpose was to study to become a lawyer. Haruhi had a plan that she was following out in not so perfect steps, but that’s life. Even so, the thought of this is relatable, I believe there’s many like her who have their life planned out. Plus, it’s that relatability that garners her a spot on this team, after all most creators prefer for main characters to be relatable for viewers.
More on Team milk chocolate: 2 Lines & A Circle : Flavor of Love: Team Milk Chocolate in-depth... (tumblr.com)
Oftentimes it’s due to this relatability that people find themselves easily attracted to those from team milk chocolate. Hence how Haruhi is the natural type, she pulls in people like it’s nothing. Yet, she never loses herself through all of this, Haruhi stays true to who she is at her core. This shouldn’t sound unfamiliar as just about any classic main character does this about themself. Once again puts her into the classic milk chocolate team.
Haruhi is devoted to protecting everyone around her even if it’s not someone she knows. For instance, during the beach episode she jumps in to save two girls who are getting harassed by two men. While this is very noble of her, it goes to highlight her hero like tendencies as she tries to protect the girls. At the same time, it brings forth her carelessness since she ends up falling into the ocean due to the two men. Eventually, Tamaki saves her, but it results in a fight. This is no strange behavior from the people on team milk chocolate, for they would rather suffer than see anyone else suffer. Or it could be looked over as their failure to paint the whole picture before acting. Either way it allows her a spot on team milk chocolate.
Love. Ouran highschool host club is a shoujo anime after all so we must point this aspect out. Team milk chocolate is full of main leads who are bound to get their lover, with that comes troubles of love. At the end of the season, we see Haruhi going to save Tamaki from going to France, another hero like action. While the two end up together it’s never easy for either side and that’s fine. I mean almost all main characters take forever to get with their lover, so we can check that box off.
Haruhi looks plain, but cute. Everyone in team milk chocolate has the outward appearance of a main character, which is usually something generic. Sad to say that Haruhi is not going to escape this check mark for her team. Aside from that it should be noted that almost everyone in team milk chocolate has the same hairstyle. Y’know that one hair every protagonist has, copy n paste one would say. I guess you could say it’s the look of the team like how everyone in team cookies and cream has white hair.
That being said, I don’t think I need to make any more points about why she belongs in this team. I might change that in the future, but for now this is where I stand!

Would people leave haruhi alone? She grew up not giving a shit about gender since her dad is a cross dressing bisexual lounge singer who swore off women after his wife died and her mother was a successful lawyer and the breadwinner. She's happy and comfortable with who she is and doesn't need external validation. So she never corrects the host club because it doesn't bother her if they think she's a boy! She's not trans, she's an amazing gnc girl.
at least it came out before the trans thing. could you imagine how unbearable it would be if it came out today?

Tell me about your fantasy of being kidnapped by a ruthless mafia family only to fall into a dangerous romance without telling me.
When you search for mafia/crime au fanfiction it's because you need to see that brutal killer slowly turn into a soft cuddler with the power of love, average looks, and an indifferent personality. You could change him, or better yet, Haruhi could change him and they'd learn to live their happily ever after among a gang of thieves and murderers. Never mind the fact Haruhi's moral compass would never allow her to bed with a criminal while she's trying to become a lawyer.
But that's something you conveniently ignore. Just like how you ignore the overwhelming fear that you'll never find love unless it literally falls into your lap.
You're willing to overlook their fundamental differences to get that sweet mafia romance. Ritsu learns to smells the roses and Haruhi learns to shoot a gun. You want to see them leave their comfort zones to meet each other halfway, to actually try to strengthen this relationship instead of letting a few arguments ruin the sexy connection they're creating. Something you'll never do because the thought of disagreeing on the best McDonald's sauce is enough for you to abandon ship.
