Being in a relationship with this man would be a roller-coaster of emotions…

But you can’t really complain!

People see him as “cold and self-centered”, which is partially true.

BUT when he’s in love, it’s like his whole personality changes.

You are his whole world, and he will do everything to put his ego aside, and show you just how loving he can be.

And boy, he succeeds…

When he first saw you, it was love at first sight, or at least for him.

He would find out everything about you, what you like to eat, what hobbies you have, and the places you like to be at.

He would just wait for you to approach him first, but it wasn’t that easy…

After a while, he stopped being stubborn and started talking to you.

Berlin would make sure you fall for him, and that would be his biggest goal.

He would take you on extraordinary dates and totally spoil you.

He prefers calm private dates, but wouldn’t mind going to a bar/nightclub if you like that.

Despite his sophisticated looks, he knows how to party. (That one scene in Berlin when he’s at the punk club LMAOO)

Seeing you hyped up makes him happy, so how can he not love partying with you?

The two of you having lazy mornings together. Berlin is a night owl, and getting him out of bed in the morning is a challenge.

He’ll also never let you leave bed. - “Just 5 more minutes, love! - “Are you gonna leave me, all cold and lonely in bed, huh?”

Berlin wouldn’t give up his flirting until you fall in love with him.

Once that happens - he won’t shut up about you

Like, EVER.

He would drive Sergio and his other friends insane with how much he talks about you, telling them a bit too much about his love life…

Berlin is the cheesiest guy you’ll ever meet, tbh.

And he takes that as a compliment.

He would write you love letters, send good-morning AND goodnight messages to you, and bring you flowers every now and then.

Berlin is a man with many talents, and he loves impressing you, especially with his singing

Cheesy as it sounds, he even sings you serenades to express his love and devotion.

You’d have to put up with his weird and impulsive ideas.

Whether it’s planning a spontaneous trip, a heist, etc…

He needs someone to tell him to calm the hell down lol

As seen in the show, Berlin is very passionate and a bit unpredictable.

Being in a relationship is no exception.

Everyday with him is like an adventure, and he knows how to spice things up to not end up like a “boring couple”.

His goal would be making sure the honeymoon phase never ends.

He would make sure to tell you how amazing and good-looking you are EVERYDAY.

He is not afraid to argue with you, but would rather admit he is “wrong” rather than have you be mad at him for too long.

He’s not always good at reading your emotions and knows what you’re feeling, but tries to.

It breaks his heart to see you upset, and will try to make you feel better.

He can be rather possessive too. If someone stares at you for a bit too long, or flirt with you, he’s not afraid to show them that “you are his”.

He’s extra protective of you when you are around his friends. He wants to make sure you feel safe, and also that no one tries hitting on you…

Especially if you are shy, he’d be very close to you, smile at you when you talk and laugh extra loud if you say something funny.

He makes sure your friends like him.

He wants to make a good impression on everyone, but especially when it is your friends and family.

Big fan of PDA. He’s a man that is not afraid to kiss you in public, and he practically never lets go of your hand when you’re outdoors together.

When cuddling, he prefers being the big spoon.

One of Berlin’s love languages is touch.

He enjoys having his hand on your thigh, giving your shoulders soft massages, and forehead kisses. He’s the type of guy to kiss your hands, too.

If you have long hair, he tends to fidget with it, running his fingers through it, stroking it away from your face and even braiding it.

Berlin definitely treats you like a god/goddess.

But the relationship would also be challenging from time to time.

Berlin being a criminal does bother you.

Your fear is for him to get caught and end up in jail.

He’d have to reassure you a lot that he won’t get caught, promising you that he will be fine.

But don’t worry, he makes sure to keep that promise.

His pet names for you: (My) love, honey, babe…

His phone is full with pictures of you and you’re definitely both his home- and lock-screen.

He has lots of money, and spends them on you, whether you like it or not.

Berlin enjoys luxury and wants to give you a luxurious life.

His dream is to travel and see the world with you by his side.

If you don’t speak Spanish, he would offer to teach it to you.

He is very overprotective and makes sure you keep a distance from his work.

But he does enjoy impressing you with dramatic stories about his heists.

During his most difficult and dangerous heists, he will think of you and keep on fighting so he can come back home to you.

When he’s away for a longer time, Berlin makes sure to text and call you with regular updates. But in all honesty, he just misses your voice.

Like I said earlier, he is an unpredictable man, and if someone is mean to you, yikes… - “Just drop it, Andrés!” “No, babe… I’ll have a ‘chat’ with them…”

Remember the throwback scene of Berlin and the man that made fun of his bow tie?

Let’s just say, whoever insulted you will return to you and apologize, trembling and crying from pain and fright.

…Berlin would just return to you with a smug smile, pretending like nothing happened…

And act all clueless when you confront him about it.

With you, Berlin is soft and passionate, but others view him as your “scary boyfriend”, a title he accepts with pride.

To summarize… Despite Berlin's cold exterior, he is the complete opposite with you. He has so much love to give, and isn’t scared to do so. He will make sure to worship you and make sure you feel loved. All he wants is to spend his time with you, and give you the passion, excitement and devotion you deserve. Being together with him is definitely not boring.

yes it makes sense that berlin and palermo are not together all the time, but they canonically worked together in heists before the gold planning and by andrés' words martín is his best friend, he just can't go without even mentioning him ever - this time he's the narrator. look, if rodrigo didn't want to participate i accept a version where he only appears in andrés' narration. i just don't want them to erase berlermo totally.

We don't know for sure Berlin will narrate a la Tokio (I sent that exact question for yesterday's event; got no answer) but it would make sense he would! It's a very LCdP trope and it would work very well with Berlin, I think.

But I agree; a complete retconning of such staples in his life such as Sergio or Martin would be really strange - if not cameos, then at least mentions. Still, I have to admit, until the last frame of the last episode of the spinoff ends, I'll still hold some grain of hope that we'll see (or even hear mentioned) Martin. I mean; come on.

Sure Pedro said he sees the character of Berlin as different between seasons 1-2 and seasons 3-5, but he was still the same character, with the same backstory! And Pina's mention of not wanting to say anything about who - if anyone - from the original show is coming back for fears of spoilers and fan expectations still makes me think it isn't so foolish to hope.

Made up fic title ask game

Holaaa Nada! Thanks for asking 🥰

Ok this was giving me crack vibes since the beginning, and I was wondering if it was just my brain or me loving comedy (not bad for someone who's always written almost exclusively dark!fics).

Then I realized that "For love and gold" is actually the title with which one of my country's most famous comedy is known abroad: "L'armata Brancaleone", literally "Brancaleone Army" lol.

The movie's basically about this unhinged down-at-hell gang accomplishing various ridiculous feats, and if this doesn't give you LCDP vibes, don't know what.

So, basing on my instinct, I'll say:

LCDP, but it's the crackiest enemies to lovers rom-com AU:

Andrés & Martín are both thieves, both masterminds, both the bests in their own fields.

They would make a perfect match... If they weren't the worst rivals in the whole world.

It's not personal, not really, but in the end... It is.

Like the kids they are, they keep stealing one another toys:

Andrés has a plan to rob the Louvre? Martín would figure it out and actually do the thing on his own, just to add an unibrow to the Gioconda and send him a picture in order to give him a stroke.

Martín hacks an online bank security? Andrés would force his assistant Anibal to infiltrate the servers and drain the whole accounts, and then spend the whole pot to book all the tickets for the Engineering Fair.

It may sound hilarious, but Martín isn't having fun at all, so he decides to take totally down his rival by creating the most ambitious and astonishing plan, his poetry, his obra maestra: robbing the Bank of Spain.

But Andrés isn't as stupid as the whole ridiculous cocktail bar scene could tell, and thank to his secret sources (aka: Helsinki with a spyglass), he gains access to Martín's plans.

With the help of his still single - and probably virgin - brother, Andrés is determined to beat Martín to the punch and steal the gold with his own gang, which involves: Anibal, who lives on sending pishing mails to boomers ("pay, or I'll send your wife the video of what you do with your laptop"); Silene, who's the best attraction at funfairs when she does the death roll around a fiery ring riding her motorbike; and Mirko, for no particular reason just like it was for 5 seasons straight.

Martín has on his side Santiago, who needs money to finally pay his vasectomy, Daniel, who currently gets punched in the face for cash by people who need to vent anger, and Agata, because this fic really needs weird debates on sexism during a fucking robbery.

Despite the best conditions (?), Andrés & Martín are soulmates at heart, and unbeknownst to either one, they decide to enter in the bank on the exact same day.

After a kinda-spiderman meme situation, several arguments, various insults about eachother mothers and genital sizes, death threats, and a nervous breakdown (spoiler: Sergio), both sides need to face the hard truth: they're locked in a bank together, police outside is planning to kill them all, and best they can do is to team up.

But Martín is not going to give up his majestic plan because of a dude who uses a fork to eat a cake, so behind the scenes he's planning to give Andrés and his whole gang to the police and escape with the whole gold.

Unfortunately, Sergio - who's falling in love with the charming inspector leading the negotiations - has the very same idea, and while both gangs are forced not to argue to avoid losing face in front of the hostages, they're also secretly planning to betray each other.

If only sudden and frankly disturbing homoerotic feelings weren't popping in Andrés shrunken heart...

May I present you:

"For Love and Gold"

or - the crackiest rom-com you've ever had the displeasure to read.

Written by me for me - and a few other I guess :)

Featuring: a lot of drama, unnecessary slow burn, canon-typical inaccurate descriptions of how a robbery actually works, Martín being Martín, Andrés being Andrés, Arturito being Arturito, mentions of Rafael, gang war, Monica as an hostage again, and Raquel giving relationship advices on the police line.

I'm currently watching Better Call Saul, only on s1 so can't really judge it, but so far I think they did a very good job. the spin-off has its own identity and the tone is different, but it's still the same universe, the balance is good between the new characters and old ones from breaking bad. only if pina managed to do something like that with berlin and not just use the face of pedro...

Oh yeah, believe me, they really did!

BCS is one of my favourite TV shows so far, not just for its great balance between comedy and tragedy, but most of all for the beautiful, moving, deep characters arc. They didn't leave anything to chance, they made me empathize with FUCKING CRIMINALS in a good way, and they built strong bondings between the characters.

You've picked the perfect example btw: when the Berlin spin-off was announced, the first thing I thought was "please let it be like BCS", because (calling myself out here) I genuinely believe that it's even better than Breaking Bad. Maybe not the ending (don't worry, I won't give spoilers here), but about the character study... *chief kiss*

And this is definitely the way how a spin-off should be made, with deep respect for the character, no judging, and most of all, knowing his whole backstory, even if it's mainly stuff that won't be showed.

The difference between BCS and Berlin at the moment (and of course with the latter it's just speculations) is that writers seem unaware/oblivious about Berlin.

You got me right: they know nothing about they're own character. The character they created. The character they wrote 5 seasons about. The character they choose to shoot a spin-off about.

They're just inventing, building step by step, sticking together pieces of a puzzle without even knowing the whole picture.

And now, if you ask me if is this the correct/conventional/right/functional way to write a spin-off, and most in general a character, I'd say no.

In BCS they didn't ignored Saul Goodman's past, they just found a way to fit it fluidly in the main narration. They gave the audience ACTUAL reasons why he became the criminal morally grey lawyer he was in BB.

They didn't pretend he was someone else back then, like they seem to be doing with Berlin, because it would've been a losing strategy from the start.

People want to know more about the character they love; that's all. They don't want to see someone else with their favourite character's face just with the excuse he "was different back then". Ok, dude. Tell me why???

You can't just say "Berlin used to have a deep passion for pet elephants because we never said he didn't", or "Berlin had a lot of friends before LCDP, and for some reason even though they're beta versions of the original Banda, they used to appreciate him a lot because he was a cool guy", cuz NO, you're mischaracterizing him for the plot's sake.

They had several characters connected to Berlin. They could've created a couple of others, like in BCS, but that's all. Vince Gilligan brought up like the 90% of BB characters, something he never had issues with, because he knew that:

1) fans needed a connection with the main show to keep follow

2) it's necessary narratively speaking

Hoping that Pina will reach the same conclusion at some point.
