Stepančić.Gidron New York | Composers, Musicians 597 session 02022020 | Performance Our work as a duo engages with our environment, blurring the border between it and a performance, acting from a point of view of music as events on a spectrum of intentionality. We let the environment sound and try to sound together with it, and let our movements in the space shape the pace of events. Whatever forms out of this practice forms somewhere between happenstance and intention. In this piece, we also add a viewpoint using video and light. Stepančić.Gidron are Teodora Stepančić and Assaf Gidron performing on: various keyboards, piano, laptops, guitar, bass, lamps, radios and any objects found lying around the room. // -- // -- // -- //

ARTIST

Stepančić.Gidron are Teodora Stepančić (pianist, composer) and Assaf Gidron (composer, film sound designer). Based in Brooklyn, they curate and organize concerts of experimental music of our times in the United States, Europe, South America and the Middle East. They play electric keyboards, piano, found objects, sine tones and field recordings, performing written and improvised music that invites listeners into an introspective and generous mode of listening, where liminal and evocative sounds are gently delineated within existing sounding environments. Stepančić.Gidron often work with musicians active at the fringes of institutional new music scenes, who form their own communities, networks and perspectives. They are founding members of the Brooklyn based LCollective, a group dedicated to presenting new works in inclusive settings and to promoting self-organization within the NYC experimental music community, with whom they also run the newly-founded Love Records label. Together with Martin Lorez they released Michael Pisaro's work Concentric Rings in Magnetic Levitation on Dumpf Editions and toured it extensively in Europe and the US. Stepančić.Gidron regularly perform at festivals such as Klangraum (Düsseldorf), DogStar Orchestra (LA), Chance & Circumstance (NY), and Improve (Belgrade) and in many venues including Ausland (Berlin), Spectrum (NYC), Trans Pecos (NYC), The Wulf (LA), Spectrum East (Belgrade), Una Casa (Buenos Aires), Studio LOOS (The Hague), Schlosserei (Zürich), HaTeiva (Tel Aviv), Studio Grand (Oakland), Wind River (Santa Cruz). https://www.facebook.com/stepancic.gidron/
