i absolutely loved the 2019 adaptation of carmen sandiego, and it honestly could pair so nicely with MBS!!! personally imagining martina as tigress...

actually, with the little VILE operative group, can see martina/tigress, sq/crackle, jackson & jillson/le cherve & el topo...

martina & sheena just generally have that same vibe. they're both pretty snarky, sassy, and dedicated to being the best. also, the little rivalry between carmen and tigress reflects pretty well upon kate and martina!

with sq, i find a lot of people (including myself) love the sort of sibling relationship the society could've had in regards to sq, especially considering in show-verse sq and constance being canonical cousins. i've always loved the relationship between carmen and gray, and always get the feels when i encounter the clip of carmen calling him the "brother she never had" or something along those lines <3. also imagining the post-mind-wipe gray focused episode (2.07, i believe!) where he's working in the opera house... that but instead of the opera house it would be an art gallery, maybe. instead of controlling the lights, sq is getting the society (team red) information on different works in a bigger, mainstream museum. some kind of treasure hunt, maybe? clues lead to information puzzle or something of the sort. kate posing as some sort of chairty leader with some sort of art installation charity piece in reflection to carmens charity leader using ballet as a charity event (i'm pretty sure thats how that episode went, but it's been a while since i watched LOL).

with jackson and jillson, they kind of have that same attached-at-the-hip feel of jean-paul and antonio, of course with the main difference of their relationship being familial while le cherve and el topo are more up-to-interpretation (though very implied to be dating). they're both just amazing duos who look out for each other, which i think is sweet.

with your mention of morse code... i would assume sticky takes the place of player :)

reynie and constance!! as zack and ivy!! makes me wonder what they got into that life of thievery for... maybe not racing, but something with similar stakes. would have to think about that.

kate!!!! looking for her dad!!! her mom being the one who was VILE faculty, and milligan being the one she reunites with in the end.

would the society adults be ACME? would the institute adults be VILE? or even, would the younder institute folks (martina, sq, jackson, jillson, etc.) even be working for VILE? would any of them be apart of interpol instead? or even, would some of the society be in interpol instead? there are so many options to think on...

obviously, nothing would be perfectly character-for-character, but it's fun to think about where each character would stand in the sense of what they stand for!

in the original case; martina being that rival, sticky being the go-to source of information, reynie and constance being able to be a close source of support, and so on! or even in alternate cases, maybe reynie takes the part of julia and ends up being there for kate as a believer-- as julia is the believer in the good of carmen. maybe its constance! maybe it's sticky, and reynie or constance or whomever else is sending the morse code! super fun to think about !! :3

Alright on with the headcannons!!!

- I imagine that sometimes El Topo will get overstimulated sometimes so Le Cherve being the loving boyfriend he is will sing love songs to him in French

- ^^ El Topo can only pick out the words my love and/or my darling so even though he doesn’t understand it he finds it endearing

- El Topo actually gets insanely jealous if someone else is flirting with Le Chevre

- Obviously Le Cherve will know his worth, and El Topo trusts him but I think he’s more like a very pouty very clingy puppy than anything

- One time Le Cherve got really really sick and he woke up to find El Topo dozing off next to him trying to make sure he got a good night’s sleep

- Sometimes Le Cherve and El Topo will get into light-hearted arguments and Le Cherve will pull a low blow by going: “At least I’m not short!” Maybe even resting his elbow on his head

- Cue his eyeshadow missing for the next two weeks

- El Topo planned a date for them one time where they did goat yoga

- ^^ He took multiple pictures of Le Cherve playing with the goats and playing with the kids (baby goats) and it’s the background of his phone

- El Topo tried to show Le Cherve a pastry recipe he remembers having as a kid

- Le Cherve has no idea how to make it but that DOES NOT stop our little French goatman to try to make it for him on V. Day, and it turns out pretty good actually

- Both Tigress and Gray collectively roll their eyes and suck their teeth whenever their being disgustingly cute and flirting on/during missions, but they can’t help it

- The first time they slow danced together they were both blushing giggly messes

Also this is platonic NOT romantic

It doesn’t really bother Player. He spends most of his time inside so the change of weather doesn’t effect him. 

Although he does enjoy the sound of rain tapping on his window.

Being stuck in a house is tough for Carmen though. She doesn’t like being in one place for too long. Also the rain reminds her of the day she escaped VILE. 

She drags Player out of his room so they can watch movies or maybe even bake some cookies together. 

The day starts off pretty calm but things start to escalate, especially when they are playing a competitive game together.

I can see them playing One Two Switch and hitting each other accidentally which starts a play fight.

They definitely chase each other around the house while throwing pillows at each other, making screeching sounds. 

Player falls asleep first and Carmen graffitis his face then tucks him off to bed while she continues watching The Princess Bride. 

Let’s normalize their healthy sibling bond.

It’s exponentially funnier to imagine Carmen and her roommates as late 90’s/early 2000’s kids. Mime Bomb? Absolutely had a scene phase. Sheena (bless her) loves low-rise jeans. Carmen’s older operative friends always returned to give her Lisa Frank stickers and tamagotchis. Antonio LOVES Pokémon and steals many rare Pokémon cards until VILE falls, Jean-Paul still has his first iPod.

I agree with you on the El Topo and Le Cherve depiction in the show. I agree that their relationship shouldnt be made a big thing. I want their relationship to be treated as normal. When I say I wanted them to kiss, I mean a casual peck. Similar to the kiss Benson and Troy from Kipo briefly shared in the timeskip. Its not a big deal, just a bit of irrefutable confirmation that they are in a relationship.

Love the rant about the difference of family in VILE and Team Red! However, I’m not sure how much I agree that the Faculty isn’t exactly family. Brunt certainly believes they are. Maelstrom certainly doesn’t. I get the impression that Bellum and Cleo do genuinely care for each other, but not the other faculty members as much. I also think they did somewhat enjoy each other’s company at their Halloween party, though its definitely not in the same way Team Red does.

What do you think of Brunt’s perception of Family in VILE?

I also agree that vile isn't necessarily not a family; in the last post I was mostly focusing on how they were different from team red so some things got lost in translation. I agree that brunt is the strongest believer in the "family," and maelstrom is probably on the opposite end of the spectrum, with bellum and cleo somewhere in between. I think the biggest thing is that each faculty member has a different idea of what they all are to each other. to coach brunt, they're a family that has each other's backs through the thick and thin. to bellum and cleo, they're allies who collaborate together and are working toward a common goal. with maelstrom, I get the vibe that he's only really part of the faculty because he can accomplish more with all the resources of vile at his disposal; but the second it gets dangerous/inconvenient for him, he dips. and the way brunt and maelstrom were captured at the end just really highlights this. coach brunt fought and punched her way through entire squads of acme agents before eventually being brought down. meanwhile, professor maelstrom snuck out through a secret tunnel that probably only he knew about. brunt was fighting to protect her home and fellow faculty, but maelstrom just cut his losses and ran.

which brings me to my next point!!! coach brunt!!!!

she's actually one of my favorite faculty members because this is so interesting!! to her, the "family" of vile was more important than anything. so important, in fact, that she was willing to crush her adopted daughter to death because she'd betrayed that family. but as we saw at the end, maelstrom and the other vile operatives (not even just the faculty, but everyone) either tried to escape on their own or simply resigned themselves to capture, leaving brunt alone to try and fight for them. you could write this up to brunt's more aggressive and confrontational nature, but I like to overcomplicate things so to me that was brunt trying to protect her family...even if they never extended the same courtesy to her. and this is where I really like to play in the mud pit, because somehow coach brunt was raised in vile believing that they were all a family. which, to me, means that at some point they must have been. maybe when they were all students together, or during some of the heists they worked together on. maybe not with those specific faculty members, but with vile as a whole. sometime during brunt's life in vile, she grew to love her fellow operatives like family. and then they all slowly fracture apart and leave her alone to try and defend them.

I just....I want to play with that concept a bit. we can see some members of vile being ride-or-die for each other (le chevre and el topo, and even just most of the group in carmen's graduating class) so I'd imagine they weren't the only ones. but in the end, when acme was coming down on them and their entire world was crumbling, family didn't matter when it came to survival. no honor among thieves and all that
