hmmmm something something the title of the finale being "mermaids"

ed seeing stede as a mermaid when he was on the brink of death and the reminder that someone loves him and is waiting for him being the thing that saved him

ed thinking stede is dead or in danger and the soundtrack that plays is a callback to when ed had a panic attack in 1x06 during stede and the crew's kraken fuckery. ed killing two british soldiers himself, personally and intimately, in a way he hasn't done since he strangled his own father. ed doing the thing that traumatized him the most.

thoughts are percolating rn and i dont have anything really concrete. but im thinking abt potential deleted scenes. bc smthng i thought after watching the finale was that it felt like they had written themselves into a corner and they had to sacrifice character moments for the sake of making sure the plot of the episode was coherent.

but that moment when ed killed those two navy men was a shock. i was shocked. they made it explicitly clear that this was ed breaking his rule. i expected them to spend more time talking about what that really meant for ed, but the used but every second of their 30 minute episode length. but that was something that im pretty sure the show was trying to portray as a bad thing, or as ed in a very bad mindset.

and. idk. something about mermaids and saving each other. something about that very dark headspace ed went into when he saw the republic of pirates. idk idk idk

so i walked to the food spot wearing his jacket nd he brought me a small bouquet of daisies with these mini flowers n leaves around them !! we ended up getting noodles (he gave me an extra slice of his pork cause i said how good it was :(( !!) and talked for a couple hours before i told him i had to get ready for work soon..

nd omg omg.. he walked me to his bike where not one.. but TWO helmets were locked on and he helped fit it on me (it was a lil loose cause it was another one of his but its ok !!) and helped me onto his bike teehee...

i was lowk so so scared cause it was one of my first times on a bike but i trusted him cause it seemed like he had lots of experience with bikes (i mean who has several helmets, tattoos, muscles for months, and a sports bike without at least a few years biking) so i just clung onto him rlly tightly

AND HE WAS LAUGHING AND HOLDING BOTH MY ARMS WITH ONE HAND WHILE THE OTHER STEERED US...

nd he drove pretty slow cause he knew i was scared :(( i directed him to the building i live at and he waited outside while i got ready for work and then drove me there :(((( ND THEN CALLED ME OVER SO HE COULD ORDER SMTH :(((
