My dealer/comrade-in-drama-arms @aysekira linked me to the first trailer for Nam Goong Min’s Lovers (now apparently called My Dearest.) Coming out August 4, my most anticipated kdrama this year between the genre (fusion sageuk, that cast, romance!) and it looks every bit as good as I dreamed - dark and intense and desperate and bloody. Nobody does period the way Korea does when it decides to put away youth sageuks and really go for it:

Sweet Munchies

My heart is going to break. I mean we already know what’s going to happen based on the synopsis, “It tells the story of a man who started to lie to raise money. Because of that lie, he pushed the woman he fell in love with to the corner and he is hurting the man that fell in love with him”.

He likes the PD but Lee Hak-Joo’s character falls in love with him. It’s sad because so far now, the MC and MFC seems more like siblings to me, I don’t see any romance between them. There’s more tension between Jung II Woo and Lee Hak-Jooo’s characters.

In the preview for the next episode, I wonder if lee hak joo’s character is starting to suspect anything. I wish this was a M-F airing instead of twice a week.

I heard #MyName was like #HeartlessCity with a female MC and was immediately in. But no. Heartless City and #TimeBetweenDogAndWolf both have issues (overacting, writing, etc), and neither is exactly a "clean" drama. But both are gripping in ways My Name doesn't seem able to manage. There are a few nice visuals, well-done fight scenes, and the idea is great. The violence and swearing are realistic, more than they are gratuitous.
