Reminders for morality anxiety and the left wing
1. You are not a bad person for not knowing something
2. You are not a bad person for reacting badly to someone not knowing something because you perceived it as prejudice (but you do really need to work on that)
3. You are not a bad person for not having the energy left to care (just take a break)
4. You are not a bad person because you've done prejudiced/discriminatory things in the past (just apologize and do better)
5. You are not a bad person for being too scared to call out someone's prejudice or being unable to take action against it
6. You are not a bad person for not immediately cutting someone of because they do something that is prejudiced or discriminatory
We all mess up none of us are squeaky clean when it comes to fighting against prejudice we have been socialised to believe. You are not a bad person for messing up and the people around you aren't bad people for messing up either please don't immediately start having a go at them or calling them a nazi or something it's incredibly counterproductive and your not going to get through to someone by calling them names.
I think it's time the left start to consider forgiving people who have fucked up

Perhaps the spookiest thing of all is trying to date as a leftist in rural America.

the fact that some people think spy x family is "breeding propaganda by the japanese government" because it features a straight couple and a cute child is insane. how desperate are you to push a paranoid political narrative into everything you see. it might be crazy, but there is actually content in this world that isn't made with the intention of moralizing and virtue signaling or feeding propaganda to people. just because you interact with people and content whose lives revolve around that shit doesn't mean you can project it onto everyone and everything. take your head out of the identity politics rabbithole for once and you'll enjoy your life a lot more. not everything is "systemic" or "propaganda" or "brainwashing".

Feel like I’ve come across a few people on tumblr recently who don’t understand what “liberalism” is as an ideology. Liberalism is a capitalist ideology- liberals may support checks and balances on capitalism, but there is no branch of liberalism that really supports a very large welfare state or significant checks on a capitalist economy.
If you believe in democratic elections, rule of law, individual freedom, equal rights etc, but you also support things like social housing, a strong benefits system, strong unionisation of workers, significant rights for workers, let alone policies like UBI, you’re probably not a liberal. If you’re arguing for economic and social interventions to target poverty specifically, you’re probably a social democrat (or a democratic socialist).
I know the word “socialist” can sound pretty scary, but this weird “I’m a liberal, therefore liberalism is X”- no, liberalism is a political ideology that has existed for hundreds of years. Yes, ideologies change over time, but why are you so scared to admit you’re left wing?

“I’m not racist, I just hate white people!”
“I’m not sexist, I just hate all men!”
“I’m not shallow, I just only see people for their race and gender and nothing else!”
“I’m not a bigot, I just hate anyone who’s straight and/or doesn’t use my 30+ pronouns and doesn’t accept that I unironically identify as jesus/hitler!”
“I don’t perpetuate hatred and bad stereotypes, I just assume all men are rapists, everyone who’s white is racist, everyone who’s CIS is transphobic, everyone’s parents are transphobic, breathing is transphobic, and so on and so on”
Me, every single god damn time:
You want to know why everyone is so fucking miserable and constantly at each other’s throats?
Because of shit like this.
Nobody gives eachother a chance, nobody forgives honest mistakes, nobody can take lighthearted jokes, nobody gives eachother the benefit of the doubt, nobody is willing to reason and come to an understanding, nobody is willing to try and get along with eachother, nobody wants to be friends anymore, nobody wants to share interests unless it’s political, nobody cares about eachother’s mental stability, nobody cares about eachother’s personal lives, nobody even cares anymore.
Nobody. Fucking. Cares. Anymore.

Kinda frustrating how the first thing that people reach for to argue against the Jewishness of JVP members is their membership in Reform or Reconstructionist synagogues. The second thing they reach for is their support of issues unrelated to the I/P conflict (such as issues related to racism, homophobia, etc.) that a majority of American Jews who don’t share their I/P beliefs probably support

So many "precious blessings," yet the ignorant American left-wing is so arrogantly happy to toss them aside to embrace failed socialist policies from the trash bin of history. Jefferson said it well...

You may not be researching things properly
So I've seen a few posts where people were saying they researched a social issue on Tumblr and maybe this is just me missing my gifted kid era but I wouldn't call looking at stuff on Tumblr "researching"
Which is absolutely fine we don't always have the energy or time to look into current events properly but bear in mind if you aren't properly looking into a topic there's a chance you've been misinformed
So here's a better way to find out information if you're a Tumblr "researcher":
1. Find multiple sources (that make sense to you and preferably not just websites) I'd go for three at the very least make sure they're credible by looking at where the information is coming from and how old it is. Pay attention to the tone and try to work out if the source is biased
2. Read the information, all of it if you can, and make sure it makes sense to you. If the writing/tone is hard to understand find a different source.
3. Think through what was said and make sure it actually makes logical sense. If it doesn't keep researching until it does
4. Remember your search engine is biased it will show you the information it thinks you'd agree with so dig deep
Disclaimer that I am not a professor or anyone you would trust to tell you how to research I just like feeling smart

This is relatively long (around 10 minutes) but I feel i must share this because it's a great starting point for everyone to understand the current political climate in the united states.
- If you call yourself a leftist, watch this.
- If you call yourself a conservative, watch this.
- If you call yourself a libertarian, watch this.
- If you don't care about politics, suck it up and watch this.
Everyone who finds themselves to live on the same soil that once belonged to the native americans who were so cruelly wiped by colonial forces, watch this.
After you watch this, I am asking you to share. Visit this guy's account on tiktok (@watchfulcoyote).
Don't let this be "just another one of those obnoxiously long political tiktok videos." Let this open your mind into something worth exploring.
Anyways, may all colonial and imperialist nations fall and may all their leaders burn in the pits of hell.
Free the Middle East, Free Africa, Free the Oppressed Peoples of the world.

i think it's pretty interesting that making a statement like "porn is bad and has a detrimental effect on young people" gets you derogatorily labelled as a christian conservative now.
porn does not do a single good thing for anybody. it distorts people's images and expectations of a healthy relationship, it objectifies women, promotes sex trafficking, feeds people's perversions and lustful tendencies to the point where they don't control them anymore, contributes highly to rape, and overall just makes people miserable.
some of the most popular porn categories are ones in which women are shown as being forced or blackmailed against their will into sexual acts. ones about women who are termed as "barely legal". teens are heavily fetishized in the industry. can you really say that such a sick industry contributes anything positive to the world?
there's so many teens and young adults who've gone through that addiction and have realized the negative impact it had on them. there's so so many. they all have a deep sense of regret and are ashamed to talk about their experiences. it's very heartbreaking to see. porn does rot your brain. it's effects are very real. by glorifying your pornsick mentality and worldview, you're insulting several of the real people who quietly bear the scar of porn addiction and suffer in shame. sorry if that was melodramatic, it's just a topic I feel very strongly about.
