The harshest lesson I had to learn at a young age was legality in no form defines morality. The accepted norms, sure, but look around. The norms are why we never prosecuted a single pedophile that went to Epstein's island. Not a single goddamn one.

Opinion | The Alt-Right Manipulated My Comic. Then A.I. Claimed It. - Sarah Andersen | The New York Times
And then along comes artificial intelligence. In October, I was sent via Twitter an image generated by A.I. from a random fan who had used my name as a prompt. It wasn’t perfect, but the contours of my style were there. The notion that someone could type my name into a generator and produce an image in my style immediately disturbed me. This was not a human creating fan art or even a malicious troll copying my style; this was a generator that could spit out several images in seconds. With some technical improvement, I could see how the process of imitating my work would soon become fast and streamlined, and the many dark potentials bubbled to the forefront of my mind.
I felt violated. The way I draw is the complex culmination of my education, the comics I devoured as a child and the many small choices that make up the sum of my life. The details are often more personal than people realize ... Humans cannot help bringing their own humanity into art. Art is deeply personal, and A.I. had just erased the humanity from it by reducing my life’s work to an algorithm.
...
Legally, it appears as though LAION was able to scour what seems like the entire internet because it deems itself a nonprofit organization engaging in academic research. While it was funded at least in part by Stability AI, the company that created Stable Diffusion, it is technically a separate entity. Stability AI then used its nonprofit research arm to create A.I. generators first via Stable Diffusion and then commercialized in a new model called DreamStudio.
Read the rest on NYT.
[As an individual art director who spent the last 8 years working for / with a nonprofit whose entire output was available for free as an educational public service... this is such bullshit. I was careful with every single one of thousands of visuals over the years, making sure it was legal and ethical to the best of my ability — using Creative Commons, Public Domain, or tracking down the creators and making sure to get permission and pay, as applicable. So when I see these excuses, like the interview with one of the founders, that it’s somehow “too hard”, it stinks of entitlement and greed.]

Guys, do you know if it's legal for me to profit with content related to Infinity Train?
I'm thinking of going back to Patreon and being more active there and uploading exclusive comics about the series, but I don't know if it's legal or if it has consequences. Although well, considering that Warner barely and he wants to remember that it existed...

Thinking of Bugs
Sometimes, I wonder if bugs are only legal to kill because of their overall/majority small size and how easy it is to unkowingly and or accidentally kill most of them. Could also apply to mice??? Like germs and microscopic creatures, it's inevitable that you'll kill bugs, so it's not illegal. If some bugs were cat or dog sized or even larger, I think it could have been made illegal to kill/hunt them. It would be really cool to have a dog sized pet bug, I think. Like a roly poly/pill bug or something else safe and easy to feed. You could just give a pillbug all your spoiled fruits and veggies.

(The same anon from the CSEM thing, sorry)
When you said that even hyper-realistic art of a child could be considered CSEM, even if it was tecnically fake, a question popped out of my mind for some reason:
What if a artist decided to draw a fictional child character in a sexualized manner with a realistic artstyle, will this count as CSEM, even if the child doesn't exist?
(Sorry if I keep doing this type of questions)
As before this does technically hinge on the laws of where the content exists and where the creator who made it resides. The laws regarding visual images are often far more restrictive than those regarding literature.
For example, under the 2009 Coroners and Justice Act (s62-s68) within the United Kingdom it would be illegal if the artwork depicted sexual acts with a child or was explicitly focused on their genitals whether or not the child was real or fictional.
In the United States, the 2003 PROTECT Act defines that hyper-realistic sexual images (drawn, manipulated, ect) can only be prosecuted if they are indistinguishable from an image of a real child or cannot be proven as artificially created.
In Japan, however, pornography of fictional minors, even hyper-realistic, is a lucrative, legal and normalised industry. Its seen in everything from street art to manga.

Cheers to 17- 18th!
35 minutes before my legality. It's ending already. I'm scared, excited, shaking, anxious, all at once.
*12AM, June 25*
Happy Birthday, L! Sabi ko last month pa lang bago matapos 'yung school year, magsusulat ako para sa mga natitirang oras ko as a 17-year-old girlie, e. (Tangina parang mamamatay na ako ah?) Anyway, ayon, dahil mas umiral pa rin talaga 'yung katamaran, ngayong after birthday ako nagsusulat.
Senior. Seniorita as my last year as a highschool student. Binigyan kami ng heads ups, reminders, mga babala, and more on what to expect on our last year as SHS Tomasinos. Edi nag-anticipate na ako ng mga mangyayari, I even prepared myself because one of the things or words that strucked me the most from the speaker that talked to us was, "Creative Writing" and "Creating Non-fiction" which are all about WRITING. OO, WRITING - my worst and most exciting fear.
Fast forward, nag full face-to-face na kami. For almost three years, naramdaman ko ulit yung pisikal na pagod sa pagcocommute mula Ugong hanggang Blessed- ay hanggang UST na pala. It still feels surreal. Daming ganaps for real to the point na I can't even list them all kasi super mixed emotions ng senior year ko, and the past half months ng buhay ko. Ano ulit? Apologies.
Ano pa ba? Shet. Siguro 'yung umabot din ako sa buhay ko, for the first time in my life, na na-confuse ako sa orientation ko dahil sa isang tao. I mean, this is very inevitable and I'm not closing my doors sa pagiging gay, but I feel like hindi ko PA makita 'yung sarili ko sa same gender relationship. Maybe admiration lang talaga kaya ko.
Dami pa actually. Naging tanga sa pag-ibig na hanggang ngayon, fuck, when will I ever learn ba? EMZ. Uhm, playing 17 by Avril Lavigne non stop and setting it as "my song" kahit na I don't relate to most of its lyrics, basta ma-fit lang kasi nga 17 ako. Ewan. Masyado kong niromanticize pagiging 17 years old ko simply because ayaw kong mawala 'yung concept ng pagiging minor de edad ko. Well, the time's up and now I'm entering my adulting age.
Basta to summarize this all, I am really, and will be forever grateful for all the experiences, people, life lessons that I've learned in my 17th age and I'm really looking forward sa pag-uumpisa ng aking adulthood. I really hope that the next following years of my life treat me the way that I deserve, like what my one treasured friend said to me that made my heart touched and melt. I will really miss you.
Anyway, cheers to 18th, L! I really wish you all the best and please make good choices in life kasi tangina 'di ka pusa na merong siyam na buhay tulad nina Vivi and Hype. Bitch isa lang buhay mo. ISA LANG. Always aim for progress and please do not be hard on yourself anymore. I'm really begging and on my knees right now.
For the last time, Happy Birthday, L! Be happy. Be strong. Maging maganda palagi at ibalik ang alindog :)
L.

American county courts are unconstitutional and shouldn’t exist. They can legally only enforce legal actions that can already be enforced by district courts, so why do they exist? They exist only to unconstitutionally prosecute petty “crimes” that aren’t actually illegal, and to intimidate and fine those without knowledge of the law and the U.S. Constitution.
