Larson Mitchell Praises Jurassic World

Larson Mitchell, notorious theme park critic, has finally released his assessment of Jurassic World, and the takeaway is largely positive!

"Masrani had an uphill battle creating a positive park after the previous disasters, but it's hard to argue with the results," Mitchell wrote. "Sure, the state-of-the-art tech and luxury accommodations are all well and good, but compared to the thrill of seeing living, breathing dinosaurs, they're practically an afterthought!"

Indeed, what few critiques Mister Mitchell had to offer largely concerned the cost and limitation of certain experiences due to the Travel Package system of park admission.

"It's a shame you have to pay an arm and a leg to get up close to the real interesting dinosaurs, but I'm told they sometimes make exceptions when there's openings available," Mitchell writes.

Mitchell's final assessment? 95 Mitchell Merits, one of the highest ever awarded on his legendarily hard-lined blog!

Finally finished the legend of isla nublar and I need a season 2 😭 even tho it’s catered to kids I was so impressed by the writing and story concept. It was just the right amount of silly but I was so enamored with how cute it was and the clawen moments in it legit made me fangirl. i wish more of claireowen fandom had seen the lego show legends of nublar because that’s lowkey their best incarnation. like what doesn’t this show have?

- owen going “sorry for doubting your ability queen. you are capable and terrifying” and claire going “good. you should be sorry” then them nearly kissing

- owen getting himself poisoned trying to pick flowers for her. this makes him undergo a truth serum love confession moment

- mistaken for a couple

- touching each other, realizing they’re touching, jumping away instantly trope

- entire episode of owen acting like a man flirting with claire is a fate worse than death

- the “cut off love confession in danger that you ask me about after and I pretend I was saying something totally different” trope

Science is not the problem in Jurassic Park, money is. This can be seem from the very first book to the lego tv show. The rich people with money use that to control others, and they will endanger their safety and ignore legitimate concerns because they have the power to. The people have no choice. Their whole lives rely on these people who are concerned only with what they deem theirs. They will use money to manipulate others into doing things they wouldn’t do normally (Alan Grant goes to Isla Nublar multiple times because someone promised to pay for his research, Simon Masrani (owner of Jurassic World) convinces construction workers to ignore safety concerns by promising them a triple overtime bonus, the list goes on and on). The whole premise is the critization of focusing on profit and money versus the well-being of your workers which in this case does include the dinosaurs. By focusing on the “science gone wrong” aspect, you miss the point because the science did what it expected to do, but by ignoring ethics and morality, we see the failure of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. Speaking Of Which I think I had a dream once a long time ago about Jurassic Park being haunted and also raptors forming a sort of civilization. and yeah i think it absolutely should be haunted. all those ruins on isla nublar. footsteps on metal but nobody's there. the cherry red tip of a cigarette burning in the darkness. the raptors have a patron saint who is too different, too unlike them to ever really be understood but also similar enough to join the hunt. and also maybe dennis i guess (the bogeyman, the egg-thief).

and then by contrast the t-rexes would be like titans, maybe. not enough of them to reproduce, so they're once-in-several-generations-type-phenomenons. legends and myths. i dunno i read dinotopia enough as a kid and i guess it made an impression

I’m watching the legend of isla nublar (not finished yet) and the clawen parts in it are so stinkin’ cute! idec if it’s catered to kids because it’s genuinely funny and cute. i love that they’re sticking with the clawen parts of it- and i also can’t believe i’ve been fangirling to those moments lol but it’s adorable. it’s like an au pre-jurassic world incident story. i always thought jw had the potential to be made into a series where everyday shenanigans and mishaps of being in a dino theme park would take place. ofc it would be very difficult and jw the movie already exists, so this is as close to that as we can get and i’m not mad at it at all.
