I'm putting down the habit
That habit of looking back on all of it and wishing I had done better
Oh I just wanna feel it
Feel that I like who I’m becoming and feel alright in the quiet
RandomSongForTheWeek#86 - Leif Vollebekk - Long Blue Light
Hailing from France, Norway and predominantly Canada, Leif Vollebekk is a whole world of excellence. The multi-instrumentalist melds indie soul with contemporary folk, and boy does he do it with flair. He’s in the midst of a UK, Europe and Canada tour, which exhibits his musical capability as well as natural showmanship. Catch it if you can, otherwise slap on the album ‘New Ways’ and take it from there. ‘Long Blue Light’ is his latest single release, narrowly pipping ‘Elegy’ and ‘Transatlantic Flight’ to the post for #86.

In preparation for the last chapter, I thought I'd put together a playlist for the Commune! So, here's some music that I think corresponds well with the story:
'Following the footsteps of a rag doll dance, we are entranced, spellbound'
'You make me shiver, I feel so tender, we make a pretty good team'
'Why can't I, like the wind and the clouds, float towards the sky?
I don't have wings, why?
This love, this wound, feel so nostalgic'
'But I don't care if you don't
And I don't feel if you don't
And I don't want it if you don't
And I won't say it if you don't say it first'
'And songs about happiness, murmured in dreams
When both of us knew how the end always is'
'I know you think you'd never be mine, well baby that's okay, I don't mind
That shy smile's sweet, that's a fact
Go ahead, I don't mind the act
'Cause sad eye never lie'
'My eyelids are heavy, my spirit is numb
Don't know where I'm headed, don't know where I'm from
I'm here just waiting, for my day to come'
'Sometimes the blues is just a passing bird, and why can't that always be?
Tossing aside from your virtuous crown, just enough dark to see, how you're the light over me'
'To call on hands from above, to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough, for me'
'And you kept us awake with wolves teeth, sharing different heartbeats, in one night'
'Och allt man inte väljer, men ändå tvingas ta
Om stoltheten jag sväljer för att klara varje dag
Och allt som jag ska gömma i mitt hjärta utav glas
Om allt det där ska rymmas går jag av
Så ta mig med till drömmarnas land, jag kan väl få följa med på din axel?
Ta mig med till drömmarnas land, så kanske jag kan göra nått som är vackert
För dig och för mig'
'And everything you do not choose, but still have to take
The pride I swallow to make it through each day
And everything I shall hide in my heart made of glass
If all of that shall fit, I'll break apart
So bring me along to the land of dreams, please take me with you on your shoulder?
So bring me along to the land of dreams, and maybe I can make something beautiful
For you and for me'
I was tagged by @pudding-parade and @echoweaver! Thank you both for the tag!
🎶✨ when u get this u have to put 5 songs u actually listen to, and publish. then, send this ask/tag 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool)✨🎶
Okay, I guess if by "actually" then you mean, like "recently" and/or "frequently", that certainly narrows it down, but here are a few on my current playlists:
Breathless - Caroline Polachek
I was obsessed with this the first time I heard it, because, back when I was a Youth with a Discman and like 5 CDs, my parents had a The Corrs CD which I stole and listened to rather a lot. The early-2000s vibes have NOT aged well (the songs still slap, though) but this much more recent cover hits me with all the nostalgia without the cringe. Your mileage may vary on the nostalgia but it's a good track.
Past Life - Arkells and Cold War Kids
Two bands that hate putting articles in their names, I guess? I quite enjoy this whole album, but also this track in particular.
Long Blue Light - Leif Vollebekk
I can't resist that moody, twangy, alt-country goodness. I just adore this.
Juicy - After Funk and Terrell Morris
You know when your musician friends are like "check out my band" and you're like, "yeah okay maybe later"? Well, later came, and I immediately regretted waiting so long. This one's my favourite.
Harmony Hall - Vampire Weekend
It's admittedly been a bit longer since I last listened to this one, but last year I put together a rather extensive Ted Lasso playlist, and this one was an immediate favourite.
Since it's "non-negotiable", I'm going to tag @simstryingtheirbestok, @faeriefrolic, @simsdastra, @shuckleberrysims, @aisquaredchoco, @gaiahypothesims, @papermint-airplane, @bool-prop, @oasislandingresident, and @quixoti, not because there's any pressure to actually do this, but because I think you're lovely and your blogs are great and I wanted to give you a compliment. Mwah!

Favourite Albums of 2022I was tagged by @saraminia to share my favourite albums of 2022 and I'm going to break all of the rules because it's supposed to be 12 albums (here's 5) and they're supposed to be from 2022 (and I think 3 of the 5 are?) but these are artists I discovered in 2022, so I'm including them.
Noah Reid - Adjustments
Jesse Roper - Horizons
Leif Vollebekk - New Waves
Ian Lake - What It Is
The Trews - Hope and Ruin
For my top 5 songs of the year, I'm going to go with:
The Finca has it's house wine, going into our fourth years as homeowners.
What I thought was a special drink only on special occasions bottle of wine with Finca on the label, gifted to us by my sister in law, was actually a conveniently cheap $5 wine from Trader Joes! "Get out! -well then lets open it up! " And it was perfect - the tasty Malbec forced us to go out and find two more bottles, which we drank over the next couple of nights. Its like a knock off of my favorite yellow tail, at a cheaper price, and the name of our house on the label! As we finished our glasses for the night, Audrie looks at me and says "I think this is our house wine." Beautiful idea. The House Wine. Guess we should stock up! What a gift!
Song: Leif Vollebekk - Vancouver Time
Quote: "I drank a bottle of wine for company. It was Chateau Margaux. It was pleasant to be drinking slowly and to be tasting the wine and to be drinking alone. A bottle of wine was good company.
Drinking wine was not a snobbism nor a sign of sophistication nor a cult; it was as natural as eating and to me as necessary.
