You were standing at your boyfriends doorstep, about 30 minutes ago Gareth had called you saying he had bought something “absolutely awesome” and that you had “come over immediately”. You being a very curious person didn’t hesitate to grab your stuff, and make it your goal to get there as quick as possible.

Last time he said something similar he had bought a few new tapes that you guys ended up spending the whole evening listening too, only to both fall asleep a just before what he referred to as “the best song you’ll ever hear” played.

As he opened the front door you could see the happiness radiator of his face. “Guess what guess what” he called out excitedly as he dragged you inside and up the stairs. Before you could answer him he started talking again “I bought a pet Tarantula!” He said as he stopped in front of his bedroom door waiting for your reply. You just looked at him.

The man who nearly cried when you asked him to pick up the spider that was sitting in the corner of your room, and put it outside. Had bought a pet tarantula. Which you were also scared of.

“Tell me you are kidding and that you didn’t actually buy a spider” you said while looking at him. “Oké I was kidding” he said with a slight giggle in his voice. “Oh thank go-“ you said but before you could finish your sentence he interrupted you, “I bought 2 tarantulas!” He yelled out as he swung open his bedroom door and dragged you inside. There they were, the 2 spiders sitting in a terrarium on top of his dresser. “They’re called Lemmy and James” he said as he dragged you closer to their homes. “Gareth, I love you but what the fuck” you said, he just smiled at you before he said “auwww, I love you too!”. “So I named them after some of my favourite artists, and they are actually very tame! You can hold one if you want! I’m not sure if they like you yet, but they definitely will eventually!” He continued talking about the spiders while you listened a big smile on your face, you couldn’t help it, he just looked so happy.

Mini exomem fic below the cut lol

“Oh, son-” Jules called from the couch, making Sonic stop in his tracks. “Could you call for your mother?”

Sonic forced a smile to hide any discomfort. “What’s wrong?”

The robian patted his knee joints, the metal clanging sounding entirely out of place in the cozy living room. “Locked up again, that’s all.”

Sonic hovered in the archway between the hall and the living room. “I think she, uh. Went to the commons for groceries.” He failed to keep a grimace from his face. He knew Jules had a… thing about not being able to eat anymore.

Jules didn’t notice, or pretended not to. “Alright. I can just wait, then.”

Sonic paused and frowned. Sure, Bernie was usually the one to help Jules out with stuff like that, but…

He glanced at the can of lubricant oil just out of Jules’ reach on the end table.

He couldn’t just… let him sit there, right?

Wordlessly, Sonic entered the living room and took the oil into his hands before sitting on the footrest across from the other.

“You don’t have to do that, son-”

“Lemmie help. Just tell me what to do.”

Jules’ monitor wavered for a second, almost like blinking in surprise. Then, he gestured again at his knee, slightly lifting his leg.

“Just a bit of juice should get my gears turning again.”

Sonic groaned at the reminder of his old catchphrase, but scooted forward and pulled Jules’ leg up until his metal boot could sit on the footrest. The angle of his knee was indeed stiff and awkward, stuck in the sitting position he’d been in for the past few hours.

He leaned down a bit, but couldn’t get a great angle, so he pulled on Jules’ leg again until he had his boot in a chokehold. Finally, he could put a healthy amount of oil into the joint and wiggle his whole leg until it loosened again.

Sonic didn’t recall the last time he’d been this close to Jules. Maybe there had been an awkward hug or two back when they were first reunited, but he’d wiped the embarrassing moment from his memory, if so.

Halfway through his other leg, Jules put his cold, heavy hand on Sonic’s shoulder. He looked up into glowing red eyes and felt his spines bristle, despite his best efforts.

Again, Jules ignored it. …Or didn’t notice.

“Thank you for doing this, Sonic.”

He smiled again. “Of course, Dad.” It felt as artificial in his mouth as Jules looked.

He couldn’t read the robian’s expression at all. Could Jules see right through him? He felt a little sick thinking about it.

It wasn’t that he didn’t care. That he didn’t love Jules. But “Dad”? “Father”? He hardly knew what those were even supposed to mean.

But at least his actions could prove that he did care.

He quietly finished unlocking Jules’ other knee, then stood up, offering his hand.

“How’s that?”

Jules took Sonic’s hand to stand himself up. “That’ll do just fine, son, thank you.”

“No prob’.” Sonic paused again. What came next? What did fathers and sons do?

In his panic, he settled on a hug. He leaned forward and hid his face against Jules’ chestplate, slightly surprised to find it quite warm.

Jules didn’t say a word, but the mechanisms in his arms whirred and pulled as he settled them around Sonic in return. Sonic felt slightly suffocated, but wasn’t sure what else to do.

“I’m… no good at this,” he admitted, mumbling quietly.

Jules didn’t ask what he meant. “And I love you anyways. Okay, kiddo?”

He nodded, but wasn’t sure how he was supposed to wrap his head around that. Instead, he slowly pulled away, relieved when the mechanical arms around him instantly released him, as if waiting for the first sign of discomfort.

“Love ya, too.” He avoided eye contact and scurried away to his room.

quick question. Rn fire alone feels like the obvious "good" choice ("I want people to be able to choose who they love and I want to be kind. We maybe shouldnt kill kits while we're at it?") and thistle feels like the "bad" choice ("I want apprentices to die bc theyre half clan and and screw moms having rights. Oh those rlly important kits that got killed? Yeah they deserved it lol.")

So what reasons would a cat want to support Thistle's law, and what reasons would a cat not want to support Fire alone?

By our standards they're the obvious good and bad choices... but really, I've met a lot of people who support the 'obvious bad choice' irl too.

Like, this line here you wrote,

"I want people to be able to choose who they love and I want to be kind. We maybe shouldnt kill kits while we're at it?" = Say this verbatim at Thanksgiving to your homophobic, anti-healthcare uncle and you unlock the Bonus Slurs.

Remember that there's not always two 'equal sides' to an argument. That's a trap; not every position is logical. Spite, fear, and anger are GREAT political motivators. Thistle Law is ur-Fascism adapted for Clan society, kept simple so I could tell a story with it.

So lemmie run through everything you wrote, I'm going to write dialogue here as if a Thistle Law supporter is responding (so obvious CW for sexism and control and general garbage!!);

"I want people to be able to choose who they love and I want to be kind. We maybe shouldnt kill kits while we're at it?"

"So you want to destroy our Clans and culture?? This isn't kindness, it's pathetic. You want to let [ThemClan] invade us and kick [UsClan] out of our own home. And don't pretend like I want to kill kits, YOU'RE the one who wants our kits not have four Clans to be part of."

"I want apprentices to die bc theyre half clan and and screw moms having rights. Oh those rlly important kits that got killed? Yeah they deserved it lol."

"What?! The Warrior Code has bound our loyalty for generations and kept us together longer than you've been alive. Wayward warriors need to be punished for disloyalty, and there would be plenty of toms in their own Clans if we hadn't ended kit stealing. If those kits really were so important, StarClan shouldn't have been entrusted to some lying, delusional wench of a mother!"

They deflect a lot. Everything goes back to anger and accusations. Even a character like Hawkfrost, who would be more capable of making 'rational' arguments than this person, is harboring a lot of disgust or fear in them.

The emotions are important. Their arguments aren't convincing, they're charged. You're supposed to get angry and start yelling back at them, it triggers their feelings of persecution, and only makes them dig in even further as they feel like the whole world is delusional and only THEY have the truth.

So it's important to stress; You cannot 'fix' these people. There is no successfully 'won argument'. Do not engage with them. Their minds are only changed when they start seeking different viewpoints, and when there's resources for them to get away on their own.

(It is why a lot of real antifascist work has to do with stabilizing communities in poverty and combating loneliness. Economic anxiety and having no other support system are GREAT ways to prevent radicalized people from leaving the 'cult'.)

So... if Thistle Law doesn't make sense to you? Good. It's not supposed to. I hope that I can help people to understand that, y'know?

Hello Dollblr

So my fiance bought me the new gen3 Draculaura and I looove her. Already put her hair into her old signature twintails after washing her and trying right now to somehow figure out some clothing patterns without having to destroy the one outfit I have for her lol.

I THINK I figured out something for a jacket pattern but it will still take a LOT of tweaking and stuff because it was a tad bit small and didnt completely do the thing I wanted it to do.

Still I won't let that discourage me!

Also I tried to wash my fiances old MH dolls (Rochel and skelita aand a third one I cant identify) and I just couldnt get the damn glue off.

I mean Lemmy wants to reroot them anyway she said but even with removing all the gunk and hair their bodies and heads are just SO sticky. I tried dishsoap, I tried baking soda, i tried just ahampoo, I used a toothbrush, but it just didnt get better!

Does anyone have any idea what else I could try? Because even if she wants to reroot them and give them a new faceup it is just disgusting if they are so damn sticky...

IMPORTANT EDIT: I LIVE IN EUROPE, SPECIFICALLY GERMANY, I HAVE NO ACCESS TO SOMETHING LIKE GOO GONE OR OTHER COMMON AMERICAN PRODUCTS :((

And no I will eat a broom before I get anything from Amazon evennif it kills me, also imports now cost a fuckton bc of the new stupid custom regulations.

Larry Koopa

Arrogant, self-centered wannabe tough boy, secretly cowardice and shy. he can be pretty aggressive when angered, he's also very short-tempered. he has generally low empathy for others, and usually doesn't care for others (with the exception of his siblings, he cares about them a lot but has trouble expressing it.)

he can be a bit of a prankster like Lemmy, he loves to pull pranks on his siblings.

he is very easily distracted by the things that interest him, and it's also hard for him to focus on something, especially if there's a ton of things going on at that moment.

and like Lemmy, he is generally very naive, this is probably due to his age and his brain not being fully developed. but yeah, he is very easily tricked and fooled.

-selective mute / uses SL / Body language to communicate, usually in the form of charades.

Larry is very socially awkward and doesn't really like interacting with others that he doesn't know, plus not a lot of people understand sign language or charades which already makes it hard for Larry to communicate with them, and he can't really talk to them either as he's selective mute.

-being the youngest, he feels inferior to his older siblings.

-he is very athletic and sporty, he absolutely loves sports and most physical activity. his favourite sport is Tennis. he can be very overly competitive sometimes while playing, often getting angry whenever he loses.

-he is very fond of brushing/combing his hair, he spends literal hours on fixing and working on his hair and doesn't let anyone touch it. he is very overly protective of his hair.

-he uses a ton of hair products, his hair smells super nice because of it. his hair texture is also very soft and fluffy!

-he is very fuckin insecure about his looks, which is why he cares so much about his hair.

-he loves video games and watching cartoons with Lemmy. He loves playing Minecraft and Fortnite, and his favourite movie genres are action and fantasy, he also likes watching musicals.

-he loves to cheat, he loves to cheat at games and rig them.

-he absolutely sucks at games and is a very bad loser, which is why he cheats at most of them.

-he's very fond of music, he especially loves rock, metal, alternative, techno and dubstep music. he listens to Weezer

-Ludwug gives Larry piano lessons sometimes.

-he has a love for rock and punk fashion, he's also pretty fond of emo fashion.

-he can play multiple instruments, such as; the electric guitar, drums, piano and the violin. Ludwig pretty much taught him how to play the instruments.

-he keeps super hero action figures in his room.

-he loves hello kitty and DC super heroes.

-doesn't like to read actual books, instead, he reads comics.

-loves to steal, will steal your shit. he's very good at stealing things without others noticing, he's also very good at lock picking.

-prefers money over love.

-he knows almost all secret passage ways, entrances and rooms. he tends to use them a lot, usually to avoid others since he likes to be by himself a lot.

-has a long ass list of secrets from every person in the castle. he also stole Wendy's diary that one time, she found out who stole it immediately.

-a very light sleeper.

-doesn't like being away from his siblings for too long, he really hates it.

-tends to have a lot of nightmares, doesn't really like sleeping because of it.

-likes being in his room.

-he loves steak and all kinds of meat, he isn't all too fond of vegetables.

-he absolutely hates plain bread by itself, it makes him sick.

-he loves eating junk food and candy.

-he eats a lot. he also binge eats whenever he's stressed.

-he wishes to be more like Ludwig since he looks up to him the most. he also somewhat wants to be like Roy, he wants to be as strong as him someday.

-can easily tell who's lying, but he himself is a very terrible lier.

-has trouble picking up on sarcasm.

-he is very physically weak, but has a really good throwing arm.

-his handwriting looks like chicken scratches.

-he is very fond of the internet and pop culture.

-he is honestly the most innocent out of all the koopalings, aside from Lemmy.

-his favourite siblings are Ludwig, Wendy and Roy, as he looks up to them the most.

-he strokes his hair gently as a way to stimulate himself.

-when he was younger he had a lot of trouble with verbal communication, Lemmy taught him how to communicate through body language- basically in the form of charades.

-he hates loud noises, especially if it's sudden. he gets really easily startled and doesn't like it.

-Larry is somewhat an aquatic animal, as he can somewhat breath underwater, but only for a few hours.

The Spectacled Spanker, the Laughing Prankster, Your Frustratingly Overpowered Opponent Today, it's Iggy!

Once again we hit Easy Street, as "humanized Iggy in a lab coat" is fairly common, but I decided to abstain from the Mad Scientist theme he's often given. The closest nod to it is his hair, which is almost as unkempt as Wendy's. That's saying a lot since his hair is little more than just a very, very long mohawk. Bet you didn't see the ends of his hair behind his arm, did ya? ;3c

You know the drill by now, it's headcanon time!

Iggy's magic is primarily connected (lol) to electricity. From mild static shocks to jolts strong enough to stop (or start) someone's heart, Iggy's been a walking lighting storm for as long as he can remember. It serves him well, usually when it comes to powering whatever random device he's built in his lab, but also makes for a great background effect during a regularly scheduled Evil Laugh.

In early childhood, this power only seemed to cause problems as he kept accidentally zapping people left and right. Anyone who touched him ran the risk of either a tiny jolt or a skeleton-showing shock. You would think he'd be terrified of this power, but no... He actually found it kinda funny! Everyone would freak out and make wacky poses! Hilarious!! No one else laughed, though...

The only one who could at least tolerate his antics was a red Electro-Koopa, who was attending Woohoo Hooniversity at the time. Unbothered by Iggy's shocks, the two became fast friends as the elder Koopa began to regularly sneak Iggy into the school, kickstarting the latter's love of technology and all things mechanical. At the end of the semester, Iggy followed the Electro-Koopa back to the Koopa Kingdom the moment the offer came up. Iggy had no home to speak of, and this new kingdom was so much cooler than Beanbean! What's that? When his buddy's not at school, he's working at a freakin' CASTLE?? Iggy smells shenanigans~!!

Needless to say, when Bowser realized that all the random power outages in his home were being caused by a green-haired gremlin- I mean child, he would've said that he was surprised... but that would've be a lie. He took Iggy in without much thought as he, Kamek, and Kammy were already trying to reign in other kids' unstable magic, might as well settle this kid down before he actually murders someone, intentionally or otherwise.

As hinted above, Iggy has no prior connections to a family before Bowser. He was an orphan from day one, and doesn't think too much about it. Except on late nights when he's unable to sleep despite being exhausted...

He wears his lab coat constantly, even when he isn't in the middle of any experiments that'd recommend wearing one. It's like picking your favorite hoodie/jacket; the feel of it is juuust right.

Iggy was quick to befriend Lemmy upon the former's arrival, unknowingly setting off alarm bells in Ludwig's head. Fearing that Iggy's magic would hurt his cousin, Ludwig started surveying Iggy under the pretense of "giving the new guy a tour." Iggy saw right through the act (because Kidwig was a shitty actor), but played along regardless.

Much like the Electro-Koopa did for Iggy, Ludwig soon developed an interest in technology after hearing one too many of Iggy's giddy rants on the subject. By present day, the two Koopalings are Science Buddies with a specialty in constructing airships :3

He loves and adores Chain Chomps with every fiber of his being. All the Chomps in Bowser's Castle were personally trained by him and heed his commands above anyone else's. He's considered starting an obedience school for other Chomp owners in the kingdom as a sort of side job.

Behind his glasses, Iggy is completely blind. He can't see a damn thing unless he zaps someone with his magic, and even then their electrocuted outline only lasts for a few seconds. After Bowser takes him in and he gets access to a lab, Iggy invents special glasses that let him see normally. Aka the ones he's wearing right now.

While he's not particularly insecure about his blindness, he does get understandably upset if his glasses get taken from him, go missing, or fall off.

Nobody in the castle could tell that Iggy was blind until he said so. His "Electrolocation" technique hid it well.

His magic wand was turned into a hair tie for convenience. That being said, he never bothers to retie his hair regularly, so his ponytail (mohawktail? idk) is very loose.

what is your opinion about koopalings?

they're funky little guys (and gal) that i love with all my heart!

I base a lot of their personalities off of my brothers. Specifically my middle brother, as I grew up with him and know him the most.

This is probably more than you wanted answered but i wanna share my headcannons about the kids

My brother is autistic so i represent Lemmy as nonverbal autistic to show that. While my brother isn't nonverbal I chose to make Lemmy nonverbal so his representation couldn't be just ignored or swept aside. It's an integral part of his character and actively changes the way people communicate with him.

Iggy is also meant to be autistic, which a few people have caught on to, and has an affinity for history like my brother does.

Larry is inspired by me when I was a kid. Very hyperactive and a bit of a sap when it comes to romance, but also fights a bit to be the centre of attention.

Wendy is inspired by an irl friend. She's very sarcastic and a little mean when she doesn't watch her tone but she cares very deeply about people. Her fashion sense is inspired by what i though princesses dressed like when I was a kid (specifically her outfit from Histories day)

For Ludwig he isn't really based off of anyone i know, just headcannons i've read throughout the years, as well as being influenced by his in-game personality. He enjoys the finer sides of life and has very little patience for what he would categorize as 'pointedly stupid'. I think he thinks he speaks very eloquently, but in reality he sounds no different to any other young teen complaining about the world.

Morton and Roy i almost headcannon as being the exact same person with just slight differences. I imagine they're extremely close in age and share a lot of views about the world. They're not exactly scholars book wise but i think they have a lot of street smarts and lean towards rustic pleasures and a bit of juvenile humour. The difference between them is i headcannon Roy as slightly more feminine and Morton as slightly more masculine. SLIGHTLY!!

Bowser jr is honestly just completely separate from canon lol. He's very quiet, reserved kid who notices a lot more than you think he does. He's inspired a little bit by my cousin, who is a very keen listener and will very politely point out any inconsistencies in your speech, and very quickly but quietly deduces when people are lying about something based on the way they talk. Bowser jr has a very innocent face but don't let that fool you! He's always listening very intently

With Morton and Bowser Jr having the same small eyes, i headcannon that eventually they will need glasses once they reach around Iggy's age.

idk their in-game ages but i headcannon them as (from oldest to youngest) Iggy, Ludwig, Wendy, Morton and Roy, Larry, Bowser Jr., Lemmy.

Hello hello!! Ask and yee shall receive! I’ve written out a lot of stuff about them for my lore fic, but I haven’t polished it yet so that’s why it hasn’t been published with the rest of the fic! Under a cut this time since there’s seven of them and thus, this is gonna be looong

I’ll start with orientations since it’s pride month and I can’t bring myself to draw yet ;^; (also ages cause I should probably figure those out eventually lol).

(Added some headers to separate this so it’s a bit easier to navigate!)

Genders, Orientations, and Ages

Larry (he) - binary trans boy; straight (at least 12, maybe 13?)

Morton (he) - cis; aro-spec polyamorous (14-ish?)

Wendy (she/fae) - trans demigirl/genderfae/Idk some kind of girl-but-not-girl gender hdchjsxbjchjsx; lesbian polyamorous (15 or 16)

Iggy (he/they/ze) - genderqueer; gay (16 perhaps?)

Roy (he/they) - agender; bisexual polyamorous (17 or 18)

Lemmy (any pronouns) - genderfluid; panromantic asexual (18-ish)

Ludwig (he) - cis; aroace (18-20 Idk hdbcdcsjab)

Species/Biology

In terms of species, they’re the same as Bowser, which I call Dragon-Koopas! They are typically larger and physically stronger than most other types of Koopas, and they’re capable of breathing fire and using magic, though the latter depends on how much magical potential they have. All the past rulers of the Koopa Kingdom have been Dragon-Koopas. There are Dragon-Koopa families who aren’t royalty, though many are nobility in some way. Biological features include:

spiked shells, which come in many colors, that are unable to be separated from the body (unlike regular Koopas, who can remove their shells)

the flame pipe, an internal organ that produces fire and keeps the fire from burning other organs

very large and sharp teeth (Dragon-Koopas’ diet is primarily meat)

longer tails (for balance)

hair (only a few other types of Koopas are capable of growing hair)

“giant form”, a defense mechanism developed during puberty which causes Dragon-Koopas to grow many times their size when they have been mortally wounded (can also be affected by mental state)

Sorry to go on a biology rant hdbcjjds. Moving on!

Origins

Larry, Wendy, and Ludwig are the only ones related by blood. All the Koopalings arrived at Bowser’s Castle at different times (though all during childhood, perhaps within a year or so?), and eventually came to see each other as siblings.

Ludwig’s parents worked in Bowser’s Castle. When Larry was around 3 years old, their parents (died? Disappeared? Not sure yet dhbcjxcb). Bowser took them under his wing (he didn’t officially adopt them yet) and named Ludwig his heir (Idk how royalty works irl so I’m not sure if he can technically do that, but oh well, this is the Koopa Kingdom and Bowser makes the rules lol).

Next to arrive were Roy and Morton. They were both orphans and met each other on the streets and became like brothers. Roy, being the hot-headed and impulsive child that he was, decided it would be a good idea to break into the king’s castle. When they were caught and Bowser was asked what to do with them, he put them on cleaning duty under the guide of the castle’s cleaning crew. Roy protested at first, but Morton convinced him to suck it up since he thought the king would do worse if they didn’t. Morton was always scared of Bowser and only started to warm up to him after Bowser Jr was born.

Next was Lemmy! He was part of a traveling circus and was left behind when the circus came to the capital. Wendy found him and brought him back to the castle to play with and convinced Bowser to let him stay.

Now, Iggy was the last to show up and it happened randomly without anyone even noticing until he was already settled in. Lemmy was the first to notice Iggy was in the castle, and they just played in his room most of the time. Most of the castle attendants had gotten used to seeing Dragon-Koopa kids running through the castle, so none of them thought it unusual when they would see Iggy around.

It was around this time that Bowser started referring to them collectively as the Koopalings cause he got tired of calling them individually whenever he needed more than a couple at a time. Back then, he didn’t keep track of them so he didn’t know how many there were in total. When he finally called them in to get a final count, there were seven of them and he didn’t question it. No one knows where Iggy came from, and he deflects the question whenever it’s brought up to him.

The Koopalings were officially adopted not that long before the, uh, “current” time for lack of a better term. Bowser Jr was actually very surprised, not because they were being adopted, but because they weren’t already. Like, they’ve been living with Bowser for longer than Jr’s even been alive, so he (understandably) thought they were already his siblings to begin with hbscjsbcjd. Thing is, everyone thought they were Bowser’s kids all this time and they practically were in principle; he just never made it official until very recently.

Extra

I have sooooo many headcanons on these guys, but for the sake of not making this post a mile long, I put 4 points for each. The rest will be added to my lore fic, so look out for that!!

Larry:

Very shy and afraid as a toddler so he stuck to Ludwig like glue since he’s his older brother; very outgoing and sociable now, and doesn’t even remember being shy lol

Loves to play games; video games, sports games, card games, board games. Anything so long as it’s a game

Hates losing so he cheats in almost everything; Morton is the only one who plays with him cause Mort’s the only one who doesn’t mind his cheating and won’t call him out on it

Despite his cheery demeanor, he has a rather short fuse and is easily angered

Morton:

Terrible at telling lies, but good at keeping secrets

Likes to bake; enjoys making cakes and cookies the most

He talks a lot. Like a lot. He’s shy around strangers, so one might think he’s the quiet type, but once he’s comfortable he will never stop talking

He is magically strong and physically strong too, making him the perfect balance amongst his siblings. However, he is known to take things overboard when it comes to his strengths, which makes him very unpredictable and dangerous in battle

Wendy:

Likes typically “girly” things like bows, make up, jewelry, and high heels, but not above violence to get what she wants

Known as “the scary one” amongst her siblings and many of the minions; the other Koopalings may not listen to Ludwig sometimes, but they all know to listen to Wendy

Her necklace can be used as a weapon like her rings; it’s a chain/whip

Gets into petty arguments with Roy a lot, usually over small things like which shade of pink is the best

Iggy:

Ambidextrous

Has a deep fascination with nature and all kinds of plants and animals

His Chain Chomp is named Horace

Does all of his experiments and inventing in his room and he’s accidentally destroyed it multiple times; stays in Lemmy’s room whenever his has to be rebuilt or fumigated

Roy:

The weakest Koopaling in terms of magic, and the strongest physically (though he and Morton are almost evenly matched); relies on brute force most of the time and doesn’t care about improving his magic

Has heterochromatic eyes (his right eye is dark purple and his left is bright blue)

Wears sunglasses because his eyes are extremely sensitive to light and it can be very painful; his sunglasses were magically created by Bowser

Has an exceptional sense of smell and hearing since he relied on those senses mainly before he got his glasses

Lemmy:

Used to have a very overactive flame pipe when he was younger (sometimes he would just be trying to talk and then all of a sudden a bunch of fire would come out); has better control over his flame pipe now and his is the strongest of his siblings (meaning he can breathe the most fire at once)

Enjoys dancing and abstract painting

Always on his rubber ball; he’s even been known to sleep on it (how he manages to stay balanced on it seems like magic in and of itself)

Naturally blonde; dyes the rest of his hair

Ludwig:

The strongest Koopaling in terms of magic; according to Kamek, with enough training, he could be the strongest Dragon-Koopa in modern history

He curses a lot, which is unexpected due to his somewhat princely personality

Considers himself the leader of the Koopalings; the others usually follow him, but sometimes they don’t cause they think he’s too bossy (he kinda is lol); trusts Wendy the most and puts her in charge when he can’t be

With Bowser Jr’s birth, he is no longer Bowser’s heir, but he has no animosity about it; rather, he’s decided that it’s his responsibility to make sure Jr grows into a proper king (kinda like he’s living vicariously through Jr lol)

5. Is there any significance behind their hair color?

Sort of! Mostly it's just a nod to how high-maintenance she is, lol. She hasn't been a brunette since just after she came to the States! She'd been in LA for three days before she met Sammy, and he helped her bleach her hair for the first time within the week.

6. Is there any significance behind their eye color?

Mm, not really! The gold eyes just kinda happened. It's super cute that Skwisgaar calls them wolf eyes, though. Another neat little detail in their friendship!

13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

I have a few months past AotD thought out! Ceelie's first move is definitely making sure Charles is okay. Then she's checking that her family and her band and her cat are safe (Let's be real, she's checking on Lemmy first, that cat's been there for her when no one else has). And then she and Charles get to be official. There was talk on Discord about him proposing between DSR and AotD and her refusing because what's the point if the world ends? With the world more or less saved, she finally agrees. (Sorry, Fish, I know you headcanon Charles as gay 😅)

Best New Heavy Metal Releases Week of April 7th, 2023

Got a little of a break this week, which to be honest felt pretty good after being flooded with incredible albums the last few weeks. I’m not saying this week was bad, far from it actually, but simply fewer releases overall. Quality was still very high and still had plenty of albums that made the list. More than ANY sane and rational person would listen to in any given week. Trust me, I realize the amount of music I consume weekly is pretty crazy….lol

I don’t think I have ever mentioned this here but just a FYI all the albums that make my “Best of the Week” section get added to a playlist on Spotify entitled “Best Heavy Metal Releases for 2023”. If you only want the overall pick of the week, that is on a playlist titled “Picks of the Week at bestmetalweekly.com for 2023”. There are also playlists for previous years if you want to look back, as well as my top 30 albums of the previous years. Not everything I mention here will be on those playlists as not everything is on Spotify but I would say 98% of albums I talk about here can be found there. Easiest way to find them is to search for my username, Mystophales. So let’s get to some albums that were added this week. Yet another seamless segue…:)

Dystersol-Anaemic (Melodic Death/Groove)**

My god is this album ever overloaded with immense amounts of groove. Easily the heaviest mixture I have ever heard in a Melodic Death Metal album. If you ever wondered what a mixture of what Dark Tranquility would sound like if they were HEAVILY influenced by Pantera, this would be it.

Imperial Demonic-Beneath The Crimson Eclipse (Black)**

This is an EP which I was not aware of until after I had listened to it. Normally I don’t bother with EPs as I just don’t have the time and there are plenty of full length albums released every week. Only reason I really noticed this was because the album was over a lot sooner than I expected and I was hoping for more. Fantastic old school black metal reminiscent of the late 90s and early 2000s.

City Kings-Steel Rock N’ Roll (Heavy)**

Last week I came across a band that could be the second coming of the band Rush. Well, this week we have the second coming of Motorhead. While listening to this album, it really gives you the feeling that this is simply a missing Motorhead album. it really is that close in sound, songwriting and even attitude. Some people will be annoyed by this as they feel like it has already been done but with Lemmy’s passing we will not get anymore new Motorhead and if another band picks up that flag and carries it forward for future generations, I for one am completely cool with it. Especially when it is this well done.

Raider-Trial by Chaos (Thrash/Death)**

Within a song or two, I knew this album would make a push for my overall pick of the week. As I have mentioned before, I am a pretty easy mark when it comes to Thrash Metal. Especially when that Thrash Metal has a solid bit of aggression running through the songs. That is exactly what we have here. Aggressive razor sharp riffs are the order of the day throughout this album. The aggression never wavers and that is a VERY good thing. If you are even remotely a fan of the band Skeletonwitch, you will find a LOT to like here.

Wolf Spider-VI (Thrash/Technical/Progressive)**

Continuing on with Thrash Metal, we have this band out of Poland but with that style of Thrash Metal that has a bit of a technical or progressive quality to it. This is a style I haven’t really heard much to be honest, and I was thinking it had fallen by the wayside. I know I’m doing a terrible job describing this, so just think of bands like Coroner, Toxik, or even Vektor. If any of these bands interest you, give this one a shot.

Hello Anon!

Well...that’s one tough question, tbh. I wouldn’t say I hated him, hate is a strong word. But I DID hate the way he was written in some parts?

To me, personally, Rhysand’s character felt off for most of acowar? Not to mention OOC in some instances. I’m just--- I still loved a lot of his moments but overall...

I just cannot look past some of Rhysand’s actions in acowar, the biggest examples being his atrocious treatment of Mor (in Court of Nightmares scene and also afterwards) as well as sacrificing himself in that final battle.

When it comes to the first example, I just...that whole scene was hard to read. It was painful. And to be honest, even if I could take Rhysand’s behaviour as being (at least partially) IC - with all that “I’ve learned to operate and do things all by myself and ask no opinions of people” thing he does have going on, it still feels not entirely true to his character? The way Rhysand’s and Mor’s relationship was written in acomaf...the mutual respect...the way he did all he could to help her out and then gave her control of CoN...the fact that Rhys is a survivor of abuse himself...I just can’t see how he could do this to Mor? Even if we take into consideration that “it’s war, there are no good decisions” etc, I cannot believe he wouldn’t even allow Mor the courtesy of telling her beforehand “hey, we’re gonna make nice with your abusers now”? It’s MOR who should have control of the situation here. And that she was treated like a spoiled child - by her family no less - and that it was written as if SHE was in the wrong? I’m not okay with that. And then it was all swept under the rug because “hey, Rhys feels awful now”?

...

Like I said, even if we take into consideration Rhysand’s tendency to act on his own, in THIS instance, in THESE circumstances, in THIS relationship (Rhys’ with Mor) - it just felt partly ooc. And even if it wasn’t, the aftermath should still be dealt with better.

Then, we have the final battle and Rhys sacrificing himself for “the greater good”. And you may ask, how is that a bad thing? He saved everyone after all, right?

Yes, that is true. But also...he sacrificed himself, he acted KNOWING it was going to kill him and...he didn’t say anything to Feyre? He didn’t actively lie but...he withdrew vital information about his plans and thus, took the decision element out of Feyre’s hands. It just...despite his “noble” intentions, it left a bitter taste in my mouth. And again, this action has no consequences for him? Yes, he dies but he comes back to life and everyone (Feyre included) is so happy, they don’t even think to call him out on this? Feyre should be furious. Feyre might certainly be able to understand his motivations here but damn, she should be so mad.

Instead, she makes that death bargain with him. And even though it’s more of a feysand issue, it’s still an issue both with Rhysand’s and Feyre’s characterization? When it comes to Feyre, it negates all the progress she’s made in ACOMAF? And as for Rhysand, since you’ve asked about him...it just...doesn’t fit at all with what we’ve learned of him in acotar/acomaf? In ACOMAF, Rhysand got mad at the faintest mention of Feyre thinking that it would be better if she hadn’t survived/hadn’t lived. And yet here, he willingly enters into a bargain that’s going to end her life the moment he dies???

HOW. How is that what Rhysand would want?

Rhysand who, when talking to Feyre about love and Tamlin, said:

“The issues isn’t whether he loved you, it’s how much. Too much. Love can be a poison.”

“TOO MUCH. Love can be a POISON.” I. Hate. How. Ironic. That. Quote. Seems. Now.

But I’m getting off topic. And the conclusion here is...I love Rhysand’s character. I’ve taken to him immediately in ACOTAR, the moment his dramatic ass left that head on a spike in the Spring Court. And then I’ve fallen in love again when he was the only one to bet on Feyre in her first trial. Like sure, he was still written as “the bad guy” then but you could already tell he was more than just that. And that’s the character I love? ACOTAR/ACOMAF Rhysand - the one who has FLAWS, who does morally grey and questionable shit to save his family, the one who tries to make the best of the actual worst situation. The one who HELPED Feyre wield her powers and who, yeah, pushed her back to life (with the rest of the Inner Court, he didn’t do it by himself). The one who actually shared his plans with his family?

I love the potential of THIS character. He’s interesting to me. So while yes, I can admit Rhys had some good moments in acowar, overall...I hate the way he was written in that book.

So yeah, I’m gonna take my acotar/acomaf!Rhysand and then follow that up with fanon, thank you very much.

(sorry this got long, some days I have no control over my salt levels and that is actually not even one of those days)

@hrimthur inspired me to try this whole 30 day fluff challenge thing so... Here's day one I guess.

I can guarantee that I'm not going to update this daily because... brain. We'll be lucky if I remember to do this let alone update it.

Anyway, Day 1 : "You're my pillow now"

There’s literally water shooting out of the wall!” V threw his phone as building maintenance hung up on him, immediately regretting the knee-jerk reaction as it got caught up in the spray that had long since drenched his bed. He scrambled across his new pond to retrieve it and rolled back off the bed, landing on the floor with a squelch. “Fuckin’ preem.”

V turned to raise his legs and rest his feet on the side of bed, watching water explode from the wall and make a mess of all that he had worked to arrange in his little cove. He opened his contacts and scrolled to the first favorite in the list, sending the call to his holo as he closed his eyes and put his head under his arms.

“Hey V. What’s up? The fuck is that noise?”

“My uh, my pipes. Think I’m gonna need a place to crash for a bit. Things are… a little damp here.”

“Uh yeah, no problem babe. You uh, sure damp is the right word? Sounds more like you had a waterfall installed.”

At that V chuckled. “Nah, a waterfall would be nice. This is more like a fire hose. Let me grab what I can salvage while I wait for someone to fix this shit and then I’ll be over.”

“Want any help?” There was genuine concern in Kerry’s voice, and it roused V from where he was hiding behind his eyelids. One look at Kerry confirmed the concern was in his face as well.

“Nah, I’m good Ker, thanks. I’ll see ya soon, okay?”

“Mm, okay V. Lemmie know if you change your mind.” With that, Kerry ended the call, leaving V alone to pull himself up and gather what mattered.

He picked up a pillow, surprised at the weight that it had accumulated in the last twenty minutes of sitting in the pool growing around him. “Fuckin’ preem.” V let it drop with a thud and flinched when it splashed him on impact. There was a knock on the door just after, and he sighed to himself, hoping it meant the end of this.

He gathered Nibbles from her hiding spot in the armory and tucked her in the front of his hoodie, zipping it as high as he could to keep her concealed. Together they made their way out and down the elevator to the garage, into the confines of his Coyote, and took a moment to breathe. Nibbles made herself comfortable on the passenger seat, taking the time V spent arranging his bag and starting the car to tidy herself up before curling into the corner. They drove to Kerry’s villa in silence, V with his window down to let in the cool air of the evening and the ambient noise of the city disappearing behind him.

He closed the gate behind them and parked near Kerry’s car, picking Nibbles up and giving her a kiss on her wrinkly little head. “Ready to see Ker?” They walked in, Kerry meeting him at the door with a drink in hand, and an utterly confused look on his face.

“V, tha fuck? You weren’t kidding about the fire hose, huh?” He traded his drink for Nibbles, greeting her with a kiss before planting one on V’s, thankfully dry, cheek. V downed the drink in one go and set the glass down on the piano, next to another.

“Nah, not uh, not really. Wasn’t exactly a fire hose but, sure fuckin’ seemed like one. I’m gonna go shower, get out of these clothes.”

“Good, means you’ll stop dripping on my floor.” He took Nibbles off to one of the sitting areas, whispering to her along the way.

V left the still-dripping garments in a pile on the floor of Kerry’s bathroom as he rinsed off, taking a moment to appreciate the fact that he could adjust the water here as he preferred, keeping it to more of a drizzle than a gush. Exhaustion was setting in, his interrupted sleep catching up to him as he dried off and pulled on boxers, and hitting him like a slap to the face by the time he got to Kerry on the couch. V grabbed the guitar from his lover’s hands, setting it gingerly down on the chair next to them and ignoring the complaints at his side. He planted a kiss on Kerry’s lips to halt his questions, and laid down with his head in Kerry’s lap.

The complaints had stopped by that point, and Kerry took to brushing the hair out of V’s face as the man relaxed into the couch below them. “You comfy babe?” The question was earnest, soft, and loving in its inflection, something like love influencing the words.

V mumbled, lips against his leg and already drifting off under the comfort of Kerry’s skilled fingers. “You’re my pillow now. Mine’s a sponge.”

Kerry couldn’t help but laugh at that, and pressed a kiss to V’s shoulder. “Yeah, think I can handle that.” He crossed his legs and settled into the cushions, rubbing soft circles into V’s scalp and silently thanking whatever was responsible for bringing his love to him tonight.
