For the 🦈SirenSong!AU, it looks like the popular idea is for the reader to be related to Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine! Got to admit, that will be one wild ride. Not to mention, the reader is getting every kid he has adopted/had biologically as their siblings/nestmates, all his friends (the X-Men) as their other protectors and caretakers, AND a few of his enemies/rivals (plus their kids/guppies/pups) as possible villainous uncles/aunts/parent figures/other nestmates.

Some of the possible colors and types of sirens everyone is is as follows:

The X-Men:

• Logan/Wolverine: deep sea siren; larger than regular reef or open ocean sirens, but still small compared to other deep sea sirens; long serpentine tail with a long sail, and long, sharp claws, and fangs; has rippling soft, dusky blue and lemon yellow and ink black scales (Animated Series version) or pumpkin orange and iridescent black scales (Evolution version)

• Ororo/Storm: open ocean siren; lithe and powerful; flowing fins around her tail, similar to an eel, can electrocute someone like an electric eel, can still control the elements; moonstone white and blue scales (Animated Series or Evolution version)

• Hank/Beast: deep sea siren; large and soft; strong tail, a bit of fluff like a yeti crab or fur seal or otter; is fluffy and blue, really strong, but his brains is where his best skills lie; furry with royal blue scales (Animated Series) or midnight blue scales and dusky blue-gray fluff (Evolution version)

• Charles Xavier/Professor X: reef siren; partially paralyzed tail, but has had help from both the X-Men and the Brotherhood, and can use a wheelchair on land; powerful ability to mind control creatures, ranging from humans to other sirens, even some animals; shady forest green and summer yellow scales (Animated Series version) or soft brown, jet black, olive green, and tiny flecks of silver (Evolution version)

• Scott/Cyclops: open ocean siren; strong tail with flowy fins at the end; either hypnotic eyes or still has some form of optic beam eyes; ruby red, navy blue, and sunflower yellow scales (Animated Series version) or garnet red, warm brown, and summer yellow scales (Evolution version)

• Jean/Marvel Girl/The Phoenix: open ocean siren; strong and long tail with a long sail; has telekinesis and can sometimes read minds, possible hidden empath ability; bright orange, sage green, and scarlet scales (Animated Series version) or spinel red, emerald green, and a small streak of golden-yellow along her sides (Evolution version)

• Anne-Marie/Rogue: open ocean siren; toned and firm tail; can mimic/take on other sirens' abilities for a short time, has long nails; auburn, sunny yellow, and vivid green scales (Animated Series version) or moss green, dusky red, bone white, and dark black scales (Evolution version)

• Remy/Gambit: reef siren; a bigger sort, has ruffled fins; can channel power into objects and make them explode, same as usual, possibly has a slightly hypnotic voice; russet red, spinel pink, and coal black scales (Animated Series version) or muted brown, charcoal gray, rusty red, and soft pink scales (Evolution version)

• Kurt/Nightcrawler: reef siren; smaller sort, fuzzy and noodly; can teleport; midnight blue fluff and scales with some red undertones (Animated Series version) or navy blue, goldenrod yellow, and small red specks (Evolution version)

• Kitty/Shadowcat: reef siren; medium-sized, and has many frills along her tail; can turn invisible, like a cuttlefish or octopus, but can sometimes become completely intangible; hazelnut brown and baby pink scales (Animated Series version) or soft lilac, dusky pink, and chestnut brown scales (Evolution version)

• Evan/Spyke: open ocean siren; lean and toned; has sharp spines, and can regrow them if lost, kinda looks like a seprentine pufferfish; he is technically only from Evolution, so his scales would be cream, butter yellow, sandy gray-yellow, and warm sepia

• Jubilation/Jubilee: reef siren; thin and wiry, ruffled sail; can make small explosions/fireworks; technically she has been in Evolution, but was a major player of the Animated Series, so for either version, she looks mainly the way from the Animated Series, human and siren form alike, with sunlight gold and bubblegum pink scales

• Laura/Wolverine 2.0/X-23: deep sea siren mixed with reef siren; smaller than most of the others, even Logan, due to being a siren pup; long claws and sharp fangs; she was from Evolution, that is where we first see her, ever; her scales would be yellow-orange and dusky black, looks similar to Logan

The Brotherhood:

• Erik/Magnus/Magneto: open ocean siren; strong and lean; can control metals, might have once dated/been with Professor Xavier; blood red, steel gray, and violet scales (Animated Series version) or brick red, silver, and wisteria purple scales (Evolution version)

• Raven/Mystique: open ocean siren and reef siren mix; lithe and graceful; can shapeshift into other beings; twilight blue and garnet red scales (Animated Series or Evolution)

• Victor/Sabretooth: deep sea siren; very large, flowing sail; sharp talons and sharp fangs; sunset orange, amber, bright yellow, and umber brown scales (Animated Series version) or caramel golden-brown, velvet black, and tan scales (Evolution version)

• Pietro/Quicksilver: reef siren; lean and thin; fastest of the sirens, on land or in the sea; sky blue and snow white scales (Animated Series version) or opalescent white-blue-green scales (Evolution version)

• Wanda/Scarlet Witch: open ocean siren; average-sized and tough; can manipulate chaos and bend some things to her will; pyrope red and dark rose scales (Animated Series version) or carnelian, scarlet, melanite black, and gray flecked scales (Evolution version)

• Lance/Avalanche: open ocean siren; a bit large, firm; can cause earthquakes; asphalt and blue-gray scales (Animated Series version) or steel gray, rawhide tan, charcoal black, and some golden spots (Evolution version)

• Fred/Blob: open ocean siren; large and thick-scaled; near-indestructible and can absorb a hit and not be harmed; mud brown, mustard yellow, and burnt black (Animated Series version) or army green, khaki, ash gray, and dirty blonde scales (Evolution version)

• John/Pyro: reef siren; a bit shrimpy, but has fast reflexes; can manipulate fire; bright orange and sunny yellow scales (Animated Series version) or fiery orange and brick red scales (Evolution version)

• Todd/Mortimer/Toad: reef siren; really small, has slick scales; long tongue and somewhat amphibious; olive green, murky yellow, and gray-green scales (any version)

Miscellaneous Characters:

• Piotr/Colossus: open ocean siren; giant and sturdy; has skin and scales akin to metal if he wills it; metallic silver, gray, black, and blue scales (Animated Series or Evolution version)

• Bobby/Iceman: reef siren; a bit small, and kinda thin and cold, has frills along tail; can create and manipulate ice; pale ice blue scales (Animated Series or Evolution version)

• Rahne/Wolfsbane: open ocean siren; regular-sized, small bits of fluff; can turn into a wolf (or maybe something like, a seal or walrus or otter for this au?); rusty red-brown and peridot green scales and fluff (any version)

• Illyana/Magik: open ocean siren; lean and mean and a powerful teen; has a portal to and reign over Limbo, a weird, demonic dimension; platinum blonde, soft silver, and electric blue scales (Animated Series or Evolution version)

• Roberto/Sunspot: reef siren; average size, has some sharp barbs along his tail; solar energy powers, turns into a living ember; ember orange, dusky red, and sunlight yellow scales (any version)

• Sam/Cannonball: open ocean and reef siren mix; skinny and long; can fly really fast and tends to crash, hence the nickname; pale blue, off-white, daffodil yellow, and bright red scales

• Dani/Mirage: open ocean siren; small but powerful; can manifest desires, dreams, and fears into the real world; banded onyx scales (any version)

• Tabitha/Boom-Boom: reef siren; tall and lithe; can make small explosives/explosions; bright hibiscus pink, banana yellow, and cherry red scales (any version)

There are others, I know, but these were the ones I remembered (and knew enough about) to list off the top of my head. Some versions I'm more familiar with of certain characters, and y'all can imagine any characters in any media, from the (X)MCU, the anime, the Animated Series, Evolution, even the comics... Here's part 2 of my sandman fic "graveside chrysanthemums",I tried something I haven't done with my writing before,hope you enjoy it.

You were still in the dark place, still suspended in the middle of the ocean, still struggling to breathe.

You weren't sure how much time had passed, perhaps time simply did not exist in the dark place.

You had become a statue, of humiliation,of despair,of loneliness,a testament to your own failings.

There was a thought that seemed to repeat itself in your mind everytime you struggled to move.

"Perhaps it would be better if I stayed here"

You would shake it off,not always,but most times, otherwise you would sit in it,like a blanket of numbness covering you, something about the idea of giving up was so tempting.

But you couldn't allow yourself to give up,you had plenty of things to do,dreams to weave and nightmares to create,etcetera. So you continued to struggle.

Just as you were about to stop struggling to let yourself rest,to relax,even though there was no such thing in this place,you saw a light.

Well,maybe calling it a light would be inaccurate,it was a spark,in the choking darkness of this ocean,it barely registered.

It was yellow,not like lemons,yellow like a sun,it floated towards you, bobbing up and down in the air.

Then it was a butterfly,with golden wings marked with blue circles like eyes,eyes that looked on with no clear emotion,like stained glass,the kind one would see in a church perhaps, shinning as the sun blasted it's rays behind them.

It drifted about, landing on your pointer finger as it's final destination,then it's light extended to form a bubble around your body.

Suddenly you could breath again,even though you did not have the capacity to breath as a human does, you dropped to your knees , heaving on the floor that had come to exist beneath you, your body felt warmth,and you looked up at the butterfly.

It was no longer a butterfly, instead, there was I.

Wings like that of the bug itself mounted themselves on my back,a yellow cloak covered my entire body, extending towards the floor,and matching the wings in thier color at the top,but getting more and more orange as you went down,like a sunset.

My hands were deep in thier long sleeves,and I wore a mask with carvings of closed eyes,black lines on a white background,it covered the entirety of my face,with a white hood that obscured the rest of my head,a necklace of golden chains that ended with a small glass orb hanged from my neck,the orb contained an iridescent crystal.

Before you could gather yourself enough to speak,I said,slightly amused,"my my,what have you gotten yourself into?"

The sound didn't come from me in the way sound travels from someone's vocal cords to the ears of the receiver,it was more like a phone call directly to the soul.

It surprised you for a moment,I continued "you shouldn't try to speak just yet"

"Just breathe,we have plenty of time for any questions--I'm guessing a lot of them--you may have"with this ,I conjured chairs by raising my left hand.

Two simple wooden chairs manifested inside the bubble,I took one,and you climbed on the other.

"This place sure looks welcoming" I announced sarcastically.

"Who are you?" You asked, still a bit breathless,with an aggression that was not entirely uncalled for,but that you didn't necessarily mean either.

"No one important really" I answered with a laugh" but I suppose if you require a name,you may call me...." I stopped as though in thought.

"Lady butterfly" I suddenly exclaimed"has a nice ring to it ,no?"

You seemed to be suspicious of this,but also,you couldn't exactly tell who I was anyway, my voice gave nothing away,I might as well have been a talking set of clothes to you.

There were a lot of questions going through your mind,but you blurted out "where am I?and how did you enter my realm?I cannot sense your presence."

I put my leg,or whatever appendage it was,over the other,and did the same with my hands, though it looked as though I just put one sleeve on top of the other,I then said"the answer of the second question is pretty simple,I just walked in"

This answer immensely confused you and cleared up absolutely nothing,but you had decided that getting out of the prison you were in was the more pressing matter right now.

"As for the first question...." I chuckled,the sound was starting to irritate you.

"Why,king of dreams,you already know the answer" I raised my hands by my sides.

"Currently,we are,or rather you are to be more precise, inside your heart" I added.

"The dreaming is you,and you are the dreaming"I explained the obvious to you"this place is in your heart,or rather the part that holds your pain,your sorrows,past wounds and future worries,you know,the whole shebang"

You,king of dreams, son of time and night,weaver of shadows,you who held galaxies in your eyes, did in fact know,you didn't want to admit that the restlessness you felt reside in you was in any way related to this,for it would be a sign of weakness unbefitting of a creature of the endless,your words,or rather your thoughts, not mine.

Next came another set of enticing questions,you were oddly good at asking questions,or I suppose your mannerisms made people want to answer your questions,even if the questions were unimportant.

"Why are you here then?do you hold any ill will for me,or the dreaming?"you breathed, despite the shivering of your body,your voice was almost entirely undisturbed, almost"I can't imagine you came here for sightseeing"

"I won't patronize you with jokes,dream prince" I moved my sleeves around to gesture as I spoke,like a sentient carpet"well,I will. but at a later time perhaps,this place is rather beautiful though,in a sombre kind of way"

"The reason I came here, however" I uttered "is simply to keep you company!" I chuckled again,this time the sound made you want to throw me into the abyss"I shall be your guard through this unfamiliar place"

"I presumed you would keep your jesting for later" you hissed "as per your own words"

"Oh but lord Morpheus,I joke not!" I was not sure whether the phrase was actually correct,but I never cared for semantics, regardless my point had been made.

"You must excuse me for not being overly enthused about that" you said sarcastically.

"Listen, I'll only stay by your side but a few moments compared to the countless years of your very eventful life"I answered "will you grant me this honor?to be in your presence?"

"It is not as though I have much choice,it seems" and you glared at me!quite ferociously, might I add,your eyes were stars now,but as you were not entirely up to being threatening they returned back to a more human-like shape quickly after.

"Yes,I suppose not" how does one deal with a who knows how old baby,I asked myself this question while thinking about how to approach you,I didn't know the answer but teasing you was fun.

You did something that surprised me,you jolted up from your seat and reached for my mask,I didn't stop you because it was pointless to do so,you yanked my mask off in one flowing motion,and well,you didn't like what you saw.

My mask clanked on the ground,or the floor,or whatever it was,and in it's place was your face.

Or rather,your reflection,it was a mirror,my face is a mirror,I didn't feel like explaining and your reaction was hilarious.

You stood there,shocked,"Well that was just rude" I picked up my mask , flung it over my face,and continued talking as though you didn't do the equivalent of ripping my face off"if you wanted to see what was under my mask you could've just asked" I complained"tsk tsk, always so unnecessarily dramatic"

You didn't hiss this time,you just wondered if maybe you had gone insane,what would it mean for the manifestation of dreams to go insane?

There was a bit of dissonance as Hob focused his gaze on his surroundings,they slowly went from the usual blurry dreamscape to a much clearer state, everything came into focus and he found himself standing before the entrance to a great castle,so big it was that his neck was starting to hurt as he tried to see the top.

He felt something in his hand,the same gem that Matthew had given him,that cleared up any doubts about where he was.

The door that was so much taller and wider than he was opened with a loud creak,and behind it was a woman with dark skin and pointy ears,her expression was rather grim,but held back by a professional face, throughout the years Hob had seen many different professional faces, but he hadn't seen one so grim.

Lucienne was dressed in fancy clothing ,which made Hob feel rather underdressed for the occasion considering he was still in his pyjamas.

"Greetings,Mister Hob Gadling I presume?" she asked,voice even and collected.

"Yes" he answered "hope I'm not intruding.....I wanna say.... Luciana?"

"Lucienne sir,but we've more important matters to discuss,come"she gestured for him to follow her. leading him through a long empty corridor,followed by a short empty corridor,then a balcony,after that was a room full of birds, mainly corvids,and lastly they made it to the throne room.

Hob was not sure what to expect of Dream's castle,but he certainly didn't expect it to be so...all over the place,but then again dreams and nightmares are all over the place.

The throne room was as majestic as most throne rooms, certainly Hob would've loved to look around if it wasn't for the person standing at the foot of the stairs leading up to the seat,and the raven on her shoulder, immediately catching his attention.

"Why do you think he didn't tell us about this?"he heard her ask the bird.

"I don't know ma'am, I haven't been with him for long but god he can be stubborn" the raven answered.

"He sure can"sighed the lady,with a bit of fondness and a lot of worry.

Hob moved forward,the lady looked up and noticed him,she had a kind face,one twisted in worry,but a kind one nonetheless.

"Hob Gadling?" She asked" Nice meeting you , again, though I don't know if you remember me"

Something sparked in his memory and he recalled the day he met Dream for the first time,there was a woman with him at the time,he could barely recognize her considering the amount of time that passed and the huge change in clothes.

After a moment of befuddlement ,he answered her "you're the one who was with Dream all those years ago!"

"so you do remember!" she laughed"yes that was indeed me, I'm Death of the endless,Dream's sister"

Hob thought most gods were dramatic about introducing themselves,but perhaps it was just his drama queen of a companion,who didn't give him a name for hundred of years, regardless he was also sort of feeling a bit awkward meeting the literal grim reaper because of the whole,you know, refusing to die thing.

"I'd rather we met under better circumstances,I heard some wonderful things about you,but desperate times call for desperate measures" she explained.

Lucienne stepped in to carry on with expounding " Lord Dream has been trapped somewhere,I know not how to describe the place,but he has been in there for a few hours, I'm doing my best to keep things under control from this side"

"Trapped?how did that happen?" Hob wondered,and worry bubbled inside him,looks like that's a no on the party,also his thoughts drifted towards the Burgess incident,that made matters worse.

"No idea" Matthew chimed in to reply.

After a moment of silence, Hob said"Not that I don't want to help dream" he rubbed his neck ,a bit nervous about everything that's happening "but what can I do? I'm just a random guy, I'm not some god or deity or whatever" the whatevers of the universe were insulted by this.

"That you are,and that is what we need" explained Death,she smiled a pained smile"I'd go help him myself but,see the thing is with Dream is that if I were to help him, he'd take it upon himself to return the favor,and I don't want him to think that he owes me, that'll only drive him further away"

"The creatures of the dreaming all can't go there without getting corrupted"Lucienne added.

"And the endless are wierd about thier realms, something something not my realm not my problem " Matthew croaked "It's kind of an important rule I think " it was a lot more complicated than that but Hob had heard the jist of it when he asked dream about family dinners.

Death declared"Dream isn't that weak,he can make it out of there by himself eventually,but I'd rather we get him out as soon as possible"

"I'm still not sure why I'm a good candidate for this though"

"You're Dream's friend,Dream considers you both of equal footing" Death moved around as she spoke,she put her hands behind her back and faced Hob again "if you were to go ,he might be more willing to accept your help"

"I....okay ,I don't want him to get hurt, err..more hurt"

"I know I'm asking a lot here" Death's face lit up "but all you need to do is get him out of his own head" the way she said that made Hob tilt his head,it was the vocal equivalent of air quotes , without the air quotes.

"How do you know that?"he asked.

"That doesn't matter now"Death looked him in the eyes "Please bring my brother back"

Hob was set on helping Dream,and if he didn't Death might just grab him into the afterlife,he didn't think she'd do that but he wasn't entirely not scared of her.

For the Wings of Fire 🐛SilkWing🦋 AU, I have a few things in mind. SilkWings are colorful and rare in this au, as for each separate tribe au, that tribe is the equivalent of mutants for the dragons. SilkWings aren't necessarily hated or anything, but there aren't many, the ones that do exist act elusive for the most part, and the young ones, the dragonets, are hard to find but once found are hidden away. Flamesilks, the rare few who were caught by the other Pantalan tribes, were used for their silk, and the other SilkWings freed them. SilkWings are usually calm, but when one of their own is endangered, especially a dragonet, they go from serene butterfly to deadly moth. Are vegetarians.

So. Many. Colors. Reds, red-oranges, oranges, yellow-oranges, yellows, golds, yellow-greens, green-yellows, greens, green-blues, blue-greens, blues, indigos, purples, browns, whites, silvers, grays, pinks, etc. ... And they are iridescent to boot.

Just because they are vegetarian doesn't mean their food isn't tasty. Roasted yams, baked potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, sweet peas, charred brussel sprouts, tomato bisques, cream of mushroom soup, fried onions, cream of corn, corn-on-the-cob, grits, apples, oranges, bananas, pineapples, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, lemon cakes, key lime pies, strawberry tarts, cherry preserves,, pecans, walnuts, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecan pies, hazelnut mousse, boiled peanuts, walnut brownies, honey, honey-roasted everything! Even different grains, like white rice, brown rice, jasmine rice, oats, barley, wheat, whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, porridge, crackers, biscuits, cookies... Herbs such as rosemary, garlic, thyme, pepper, dill, mint, sage, etc. ... Even seaweed from the sea...

Hugging is practiced, crocheting and knitting silk blankets and scarves happens every other day, planting gardens and collecting seeds, feeding birds and making bird feeders with pinecones, peanut butter, and various seeds, collecting various rocks and minerals and gems, weaving silk hammocks between their tree top homes and constructing bridges and building homes and huts and the like with wood, flax, leaves, and more silk...

Dragonets are cared for and protected, but seldom allowed to leave the hidden home of the SilkWings... But they are met with open arms and wings, accepted completely as they are, and aren't expected to get everything right all of the time.

And then Monarch (SilkWing! Reader) stumbles into their lives...

To All A Good Night: A Last Word Variation

1 oz. Irish Whiskey

1 oz. Genepy (A Green Chartreuse Alternative)

1 oz Lemon Juice

1 1/2 oz. Medovina Dark Forest Mead

1 Dash Orange Bitters

1 bar-spoon simple syrup

Iridescent Luster Dust

Instructions:

Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add two large ice cubes, one whole and one cracked into small pieces using the back of a spoon. Shake the cocktail for 12 (twelve) to 15 (fifteen) seconds to chill and dilute. Double strain into a coupe style cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon peel flag, in the style of your choosing, placed on the rim of the glass.

The “To All A Good Night” is a variation on a Last Word that I developed for a series of videos called “25 Drinks of Christmas.”

Though it was the first drink i concocted in developing a list of 25 unique drinks, it appears at the end of the series as a sort of thematic parallel to its namesake.

Much like the last phrase of that famous Christmas story, the “To All A Good Night” puts a night cap on the video series with bright and exciting, yet gentle and balanced, flavors.

On the palette, the cocktail is pleasantly tart, with enough sweetness being provided by the liqueurs and syrup to balance the sourness of the lemon juice. This tartness is further contextualized by a gentle dancing of herbs from the Genepy.

Behind this light dancing of citrus brightness and herbs is a robust wine-like honey character that’s been reinforced by the vanilla and oak flavors of the irish whiskey.

Recipe Alternatives:

Genepy is an alternative to green chartreuse that a local spirits store associate turned me onto during the pandemic, as stockpiles of green chartreuse had been depleted at that time. It is now available on the market again and can be used in place of this alternative.

Green chartreuse is one of two liqueurs featured in a Last Word, and I maintained that for the sake of keeping this cocktail true to its inspiration. That said, yellow chartreuse has a similar, yet distinct flavor that would also be effective in this context without effecting the color.

The dark forest mead in this cocktail was chosen specifically because it carries the flavor of honey more than it does the wine-like character of lighter meads. Should you be unable to find this particular mead, or a different one heavy on the honey flavors, it can be substituted for a honey liqueur like Barenjäger. If you choose this route, remove the bar-spoon of simple syrup entirely.

An Irish whiskey is best here, though a lightly smoky scotch or gin are also effective, though will shift the balance of the cocktail significantly.
