snicket said people deserve to eat rights
Lemony: I flaunt my genius and superior knowledge to disguise my deeply rooted psychological trauma.
Jake: That doesn’t sound like a healthy coping mechanism.
Lemony: Did you know that Coping, a word which here means “dealing with an issue,” originated in the 1600s? Back then it had a different meaning and was used as an architectural term. I read about it when I was five.
Moxie: Lemony, we need to talk.
Lemony Snicket // “George Gray,” Edgar Lee Masters // “Omnicide,” Maurya Simon // “14 Lines from Love Letters or Suicide Notes,” Doc Luben // “Walter Simmons,” Edgar Lee Masters
I used to read A Series of Unfortunate Events in the years after my mother died as a child…of course, my life has turned into a series of unfortunate events.
Ya know what the most unbelievable part of ATWQ is?
In the books, Lemony constantly talks about how he hated it when Kit called him L. I fail to understand how he would rather be called Lemony. Screw the drained ocean; the least believable part was the fact that he preferred being addressed as a citrus flavor than using a nickname.

‘I will love you as misfortune loves orphans, as fire loves innocence and as justice loves to sit and watch everything go wrong’
A familiar nightmare
what if there are no answers and handler’s just thrown together a bunch of random shit with no through line and he’ll publish a book one day that he says will have all the answers and we’re so excited to learn what started the schism, who bea II’s dad is, why they killed olaf’s parents, what’s in the sugar bowl…….
and then it’s just like “and then mr poe woke up and it was all a dream and he went to work in the bank another day, no orphans or secret organisations to think of at all the end”
the baudelaire orphans, at last reunited with beatrice ii, help lemony put together the story of the end and leave their fate unclear for their own safety
it is a custom in both the snicket and baudelaire families to name children after someone who has died and had violet baudelaire been born a boy, she would have been named lemony. however. when the baudelaire parents did have a boy, he was not named lemony, he was named klaus. why didn’t they take this opportunity? perhaps because in between violet and klaus being born they discovered that lemony had not died after all
further thoughts: lemony arriving on the island to continue his investigation into the lives of the baudelaire children and finding from the baudelaire parent’s journal that had violet been born a boy they would have named her after him
ok wait. i am thinking about the baudelaire kids never having heard about lemony from their parents and it just hit me again that lemony wasn’t actually there. he didn’t hear what they said, he doesn’t know everything that they knew and it’s incredibly likely that the baudelaire parents would have mentioned him to their children, even if not by name. but it is so incredibly lemony to assume that beatrice and bertrand would have forgotten him once he was no longer in their lives.
