They have beauty, they have grace, and they may very well make your heart race! - A favorite of ours out of Argentina, Blue Calcite is often found with banding like the bottom heart, and this confused with Onyx. Calcite is an entirely different chemical composition than onyx and much softer as well. The sky’s are blue and the sun is out. A perfect day to display one of my favorite forms of Calcite. We have been addicted to Blue Calcite from Argentina since we encountered it some 15 plus years ago. It has recently become better known because of the “alternative” name people gave it, Lemurian Aquatine Calcite. Often it is incorrectly referred to as Blue Onyx. True Onyx is a variety of Chalcedony a cryptocrystalline variety of Quartz. Onyx is much harder than Calcite with an entirely different chemical formula of SiO2 vs. CaCO3 for Calcite. We will have spheres, hearts and a few large jumbos available on our Live Sale March 28th.
