Hello fellow Tumblrs, I have a question for you all. Does anyone know how to convert a 2D picture of a painting into a stereoscopic 3D Lenticular print/sticker? I'm looking to turn my paintings into stereoscopic 3D Lenticular print/stickers. The effect I'm looking for is the main subject stays in place while the rest of the background moves. For example:

Tiny X Kratos Painting (I would want him to stay in place while the pillars and the fire move or give the illusion of moving. )

I don't want to make the 3D lenticular prints myself but rather find a professional who knows about this stuff and sells the prints/stickers in quantities.

"Rude Awakening"

Yesterday, at the comic book store, I was fawning over a little Pusheen plushie. It had an interesting tag. When I tilted the tag, the Pusheen kitty pictured there wagged its tail and bobbed a little. I struggled to remember what this sort of moving image was called.

Some helpful patron picked up on my plight and pointed me in a direction. He said the effect was holographic. With a bit more digging, I discovered that the trick behind the effect was accomplished with lenticular printing.

Basically, a panel scored with regular ridges overlays two or more images that are spliced in alternating fashion. When viewed from one angle, the ridges blocks an image and reveals another, and vice versa. Pretty freaking cool, I think.

Anyway, I had to make this work with my limited material. I made this eye opening drawing (XD Puns) using three sheets of paper. One that I folded accordion style, one that I drew each pair of eyes on, and one that I used as a backing for the whole piece.

It was an experiment with pleasing results. :)
