Synopsis

While taking in the sights of Paris in 1979, the Fourth Doctor and Romana sense that someone is tampering with time. Who is the mysterious Count Scarlioni? Why does he seem to have counterparts scattered through time? And just how many copies of the Mona Lisa did Leonardo da Vinci paint?

even if your not a classic who fan, you have seen moments from this, “wonderful butler, he’s so violent”, “youre a beautiful woman, probably”, “if you wanted an omelette I’d expect to find a pile of broken crockery, a cooker in flames, and an unconscious chef”. The location shooting, iconic, the music, iconic, the plot, so iconic I was once watching something (non doctor who) that referenced it as a fake historical event. Dare I say duggan is the greatest side character of all time. Romana’s outfit, the design of scaroth, the implication time lords can fly. it’s not my favourite overall, but its damn near close, it deserves AT LEAST the semi finals, AT LEAST. If you’ve not seen it or any classic who, go watch it, its so good, one of the best of the era. Also, how could I forget, the most watched episode on broadcast out of all of doctor who, including new who. Synopsis

The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble go to the leisure planet of Midnight for a simple, relaxing holiday. However, life with the Doctor can never be that simple, and things go horribly wrong for the Doctor when he decides to go off on a bus trip to see the Sapphire Waterfall, starting with the bus shutting down. When a mysterious entity infiltrates the shuttle bus, no one is to be trusted. Not even the Doctor himself...

Midnight is amazing. So thrilling. The monster was human fear and it cost the life of two innocent women. (plus two men on accident, well, more or less) And we never know what the midnight entity was. Perfect. My absolute favourite episode. The best thing is that it tricks you into liking the passengers before it slowly, slowly turns that into horror of what they're capable of. Chills every time. Question: So I just rewatched the whole series again with my husband, who's over there. And it's so beloved for us - just like everybody here. And so I was wondering, do you guys have any shows or movies you rewatch or books you reread that are really cherished, and that - why do they mean something to you?

Jared: Awesome. Thank you. And where's your husband?

Question: He's over there.

Jared: [to husband] Hey, hey, thank you, buddy. Yeah, so twice? Y'all have seen it twice? Amazing.

Question: More than that, more than that.

Jared: I wasn't judging!

Jensen: I am.

Jared: Uh, yeah, I have some, like, feel good shows. I try not to reread books, believe it or not? I just feel like there are so many that I would love to read but I try to reread. I have reread Into Thin Air, John Krakauer. Awesome book. Yeah. And then when I find myself rewatching shows, it's from my childhood. I haven't forgotten Garfield, or Simpsons. Don't judge.

Jared: Ninja turtles, for sure. That was a a special time -

Jensen: Which one?

Jared: Which turtle am I?

Jensen: Mmm-hmm.

Jared: Who's my favorite? Probably Michelangelo, but my favorite was Donatello. Yeah, and I always regret - I think it was because I could always find a stick and hit people with it? It's hard to find num-chuks, or a scythe, or swords - my parents wouldn't let me have those. I'd find a stick, though. I'd find a stick and pretend I was Donatello. And he was in the purple outfit, which was pretty good - [to someone in audience] No, I - Leonardo was pretty cool.

Jensen: Donatello was blue.

Jared: No, Leonardo was blue! How dare you.

Jensen: Raphael was red.

Jared: Raphael was red, Michelangelo was orange -

Jensen: Why are we talking about this? [to questioner] Thanks a lot, thanks a lot. And I see you, yeah, your wife's still pregnant, you might want to take care of that. She's been pregnant for ten years.

Jared: So when I do rewatch things, it's from my childhood. What about you?

Jensen: I have - this was unintentional, the show is just always on. But my daughter, my ten year old daughter, has found Friends. And I had forgotten how entertaining that show really, really is. So it's been fun to, y'know - and it's just 'cause it's literally, I don't know what station, TBS or whatever - it's just always open. Any time we're in the kitchen, she'll come in and she'll throw it on and sit down and we'll be just doing stuff, but it's on and I'll just hear PIVOT! and I'll just start laughing.

Audience member: We were on a break!

Jensen: Yeah, we were on a break. And that's another thing, I forget how many iconic sayings came from that show. I mean, what a powerhouse of a show that is. But, um, as far as like a genre-type show, I don't know. I'm kinda like Jared, like once I watch it, I've - going back and rewatching it, I feel like I'm missing out on the opportunity of seeing something new? There is - I do have films that I keep on my iPad and whenever I'm travelling or something they're downloaded. And there's one particular movie that - I don't watch it, from beginning to end? I usually will just fast-forward and watch scenes? Of No Country for Old Men. 'Cause I just think it's a master class in filmmaking.

Jared: I'm like that with Inglorious Bastards.

Jensen: Yeah. Oh, anything Tarantino. Like, I got Hateful Eight, I've been rewatching -

Jared: Oh really?

Jensen: rewatching scenes in Hateful Eight. Which, I mean, that could be a stage play. I think it was originally - he wrote it for almost being able to do that, but. Um, it's uh - yeah. So I get the wanting to go back and kinda revisit those things, 'cause it does give you those nostalgic emotions, but also, you know, new experiences, like I'm sharing this with my daughter, so that's kind of a fun new experience.

Jared: Yeah. It's also - So I guess I question my earlier statement about how I want to read new things? 'Cause it's very interesting if you watch the same show or movie or read the same book at different points in your life where you pick up. So maybe I'll just start binging [pause] Supernatural. See where it ends up. I do, I will say, I will say, not a word of a lie, I've probably watched fifteen or twenty reaction videos to the finale. Cry every time. I'm like - I start out like, they don't know what's about to happen, neener neener. And then once Dean meets the post and they go [huge gasp] I'm like, same, same! So I have watched, I think, every single one. But yeah, yeah, that'll be interesting to go back and revisit that show that we worked on that one time.

Jensen: You just talked about a scene from it! [dramatically hangs head, big sigh] We're gonna get cancelled by our own union. Shh.

Jared: I said that show. Super-normal show.

Jensen: No, it's not Supernormal, it's Anything But Normal. It's Unnatural. It's Abby Normal.

Summary:

Supersonic monkeys, vampires, talking fishmen, and all sorts of different supernatural monsters living alongside humans—this has been part of daily life in Hellsalem's Lot, formerly known as New York City, for some time now. When a gateway between Earth and the Beyond opened three years ago, New Yorkers and creatures from the other dimension alike were trapped in an impenetrable bubble and were forced to live together. Libra is a secret organization composed of eccentrics and superhumans, tasked with keeping order in the city and making sure that chaos doesn't spread to the rest of the world. Pursuing photography as a hobby, Leonardo Watch is living a normal life with his parents and sister. But when he obtains the "All-seeing Eyes of the Gods" at the expense of his sister's eyesight, he goes to Hellsalem's Lot in order to help her by finding answers about the mysterious powers he received. He soon runs into Libra, and when Leo unexpectedly joins their ranks, he gets more than what he bargained for. Kekkai Sensen follows Leo's misadventures in the strangest place on Earth with his equally strange comrades—as the ordinary boy unwittingly sees his life take a turn for the extraordinary.

Kekkai Sensen is a sci-fi action manga from the author of Trigun that revolves around an ordinary guy with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He can’t really fight, but he’s determined to make his way in a city where people die at the drop of a hat. A web of tragedies and crime and crazy coincidences is spinning around his arrival in the city, and a dark plot is brewing that could risk the fate of the world. The story is compelling, comedic, fast-paced, and gorgeously animated. Fans of mystery, action, sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, and even more will all find something to adore about this series’ story and characters—not to mention its iconic soundtrack and stunning visuals.

Super interesting story with a well-balanced and fun cast of characters. There’s someone for everyone and open the top flashy action scenes. The characters are especially endearing with how they interact with each other

Most people remember the show from the ending that everyone was making edits for. This show is outstanding, and the last episode changed me as a person, and I’m still not sure how or why. It’s from the creator of Trigun and has incredible music from jazzy numbers to soft and sweet ones. The characters are great, and the voice talent is even better. It’s funny, cute, and sometimes serious. Also found family for the win.

A/N: Okay! So my new obsession! I swear ill go back to cod but I needed to get this out my system! I may or may not do more ROTTMNT content idk not sure yet! Alrighty hope to those that read this enjoy!!!

WARNING: POST-MOVIE SO MOVIE SPOILERS?? KIND OF?? NOT REALLY!!

"LEO!!" (Y/n) rushed over, wrapping the blue turtle in her embrace. Resting her head on his shoulder as she sobbed. "You IDIOT! Scaring me like that! Scaring everyone!" She gripped onto his plastron, tears rolling down her face. Leo slowly placed a hand on her head, softly caressing her scalp. "I thought I'd never see you again! Your generally crappy one-liners, your charming smile," she went on and on; the others stood behind staring fondly at the two. They all shared her sentiment.

Leo moved her to see her face, "Woah Woah, you saying you don't like my one-liners!" He cupped his hands around her face wiping fresh tears as they fell. "First of all, how dare you~" he cooed at her, "secondly... I'm sorry. Keeping you safe, keeping everyone safe was my first priority." He spoke in a serious yet sincere tone, flashing her his iconic grin. She couldn't be angry as much as she wanted to be, she was just scared. "If my sacrifice promised you a better life, I would in a heartbe-"

"A world without you Leon, god, I can't even imagine it!" She wrapped her arms around his neck, resting herself in the crook of his neck. "Leonardo, I think I speak for everyone that without you; life, the world would be incomplete." Leo's eyes open wide, hearing those words come from her mouth. The others nod as Leo's eyes scan the room; overwhelmed by emotion, his eyes well with tears. Casey Jones looked on seeing the two acting like this made him relieved. It made of think back to his times, times he would be up late seeing master Leonardo sitting alone on the lookout.

Especially after the death of Raph and Donnie, Master Leo looked at those wastelands with a cloud of fear. Nights were then joined by his wife, who always brewed him a fresh cup of tea. The two always talked till late into the night, and despite being in the apocalypse the two always laughed about something. She kept Master Leo looking forward, looking straight. In the hell he lived in, he never saw a man happier in his life.

Coming back to reality Casey sighed, "I'm glad some things never change." He smiled, not yet realizing how loud he said that.

"What doesn't change Casey!" Mikey leaned closer to Casey, staring up at him intently.

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to say that so loud! It's nothing!" He laughed nervously; he pulled his mask down slowly. His face flushed red from embarrassment.

"No no, go on Casey. I'm deathly curious now!" Leo raised his brow, giving him a smirk. Casey rubbed the back of his neck, "let me guess! Me being the greatest and strongest ninja ever~"

"Leo!" The group laughed in unison as he shrugged. (Y/n) wiped tears from her eyes as she stared lovingly at Leo. "All that talk about it not being about you!"

"What can I say, old habits die hard~"

"Okay shut it, Leo, let him speak." Donatello pulled out a notepad and waited intensely, "the next thing he says could possibly expand my research into quantum time theories and the existence of multiple timelines!"

"It's nothing that important," Casey rubbed his shoulder, "It's just for those two, even despite future changing their care for each other hasn't. It's kind of a relief to me." Casey raised his mask again, his eyes down to the floor, "I even see why they got married in my time..."

"MARRIED!" The room went into chaos after Casey spoke these words. Mickey and Raph were gushing, April wasn't reacting that much but had an approving look. Donnie threw his notepad on the floor in a huff and Splinter well he was silent, eyes closed while nodding his head; who knows what happens in there... (Y/N) was a stuttering mess, Leo watched her in amusement and even teased her from time to time. In any case, Casey should have never said it.

"Some things really never change" he spoke quieter this time. No need for another freakout.

Y/n: M-m-m-m-ma-ma...

Leo: oooohhhh a wedding in an apocalyptic time, that must have been fun! Butalsolikereallydepressing... did we go on a honeymoon?

i understand theres 193 episodes of 87 so i get why people wouldnt watch all of it (like anything thats description says don turtelli is in it, skip it, trust me, you do not want to see that) BUT if anyone wants a list of good 87 tmnt episodes i started making one when we hit s4

AN: This was written for shits & giggles & even though the boys didn’t actually smoke in this, I have to put it out there for the minors reading this to pls avoid vaping. Don’t matter if it’s nic or THC, both aren’t good (yes even THC & as someone with first hand experience lemme tell you if you have family history with addictions & have autism then bby you’re most likely gonna end up reliant on it which is no bueno) and it can very much damage your still developing brain as corny as that sounds. With that being said, enjoy this sorta/sorta not crackfic and Usagi’s poorly hidden one-sided feelings bc Leo just sees him as his bro (for now, maybe ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ)

Usagi and Leo had been in the middle of playing an online game on their phones until Usagi’s abruptly shut itself off. Heart rate quickening and hoping their game was still connected, Usagi tried to quickly turn the device back on but was instead met with the zero-battery icon that had displayed itself on the screen.

“Dude did your phone just die?!” Leo exclaimed as he watched Usagi’s character lag and glitch before the game ultimately kicked him off, taking him back to the main menu.

A regretful whine was all Leo could get in response. He sighed as he closed off the game and set his phone aside. “Wanna watch something then? While we wait for your phone to actually charge?” Leo asked as he leaned over to his bedside drawer to pick up the remote control for his TV.

“Yes! Can I choose?” If the platinum haired teen were animated, he’d have sparks shimmering around him and stars gleaming in his eyes, but sadly this was the real world and as Leo kept his focus on his flatscreen he cocked a restive brow as he replied nonchalantly, “After you made us lose our mission and we’ll have to now start from our last checkpoint that was, like, forever ago? Sorry, but it’s a hard ‘no’ my guy.”

“Mmh!” The Japanese boy grunted out in a miff manner as he got up from Leo’s bed to retrieve his charger from his bag and plug it to the nearest available outlet. Choosing the small lone spot beside Leo’s bookshelf, he bent down on one knee to connect the plug but stopped himself at the odd sight before him.

“Leo why do you have this usb type thing charging, and why does it look so weird?”

Knitting his thin eyebrows together in confusion, Leo mouthed to himself ‘USB?’ but the realization quickly clicked in his head and couldn’t help the brief chortle that escaped his mouth as he thought of an exciting idea.

“Oh that? Bring it over here and I’ll show you what exactly it is.”

Having not noticed the impish look on his American friend’s face due to his allowance of getting the strange object, he took a closer look at it as he walked back to Leo. The surface was a matte electric blue and on one side there was what he assumed was the brand name. ‘STIIIZY?’ he confoundedly thought.

The more that he stared at it, memories of his past encounters in their school’s restrooms that involved this same type of gadget would suddenly rush into his mind. In his option-less runs to use the poorly maintained restrooms around campus, he’d always have to brace the groups of people who’d ditch class to hang out and smoke both outside and inside the stalls carrying those similar rectangular objects in their hands.

Sometimes (if he wasn’t immediately kicked out from it) he’d opt to just walk to the closest restroom and avoid the horrid mixed stench of sweet artificial cookies and sewage water, but nine times out of ten he’ll ignore the sharp glares and sneers that’ll get sent his way as he makes his way to do his business that the restrooms were purposed to do.

Besides all that, Usagi just hopes that it’s not what he thinks it is as he plopped himself down onto the bed and extended his left hand towards Leo, who was leaned over again and digging a hand inside his drawer. After he found what he was looking for he swiftly took his sleek object back and attached a familiar looking compact filled with a yellow substance into the open slot. His fear was now just confirmed.

“Yui y’know what a—?”

“You smoke?! And nicotine at that? Why?! Leo you’re too pre—!” Coughing fugaciously at his near slip up of calling his best friend pretty, Usagi covered with, “I thought you were too cool for that kind of stuff?”

Playing with the thin vape in his hand, Leo laughed at the claim. “Mmmm, I don’t ever remember saying about my stance on vaping, but chill out it’s not nic, it’s weed.”

“How is that any better?”

“Look I’m not gonna explain the politics of the two, but just know this is way better and funner than nicotine!” Leo exasperated. What the shaved headed teen had left out though was that he himself hadn’t smoked nicotine ever in his life and just jumped straight to marijuana, so his answer holds no weight. He continued, “I don’t even do it a lot and just use it when I want to have a good time during movie nights or want to make my favorite meal ten times better because I have the munchies. It also helps when I feel myself becoming too absorbed into my thoughts, but that’s beside the point.”

Usagi felt icky for feeling this way, but he couldn’t help but feel sort of disappointed that Leo, his most favorite person since moving here, is a part of the hordes of teens that find the weird appeal of owning that useless junk just so they could make grossly sweet scented smoke clouds in front of their friends and not caring about the harm it can do to their young and healthy lungs. Despite his own opposing views though, he tried to swallow his judgment.

“How can anyone underage even get their hands on this, isn’t it illegal? Who even gave you this and does anyone else know you do this stuff?”

“I mean, it's pretty easy if you know someone who has connections, and to answer that other question, only Donnie—who also smokes—and my sister Frida knows. Ida’s also the one who hooked us up with the battery and cart but she’s so stingy though ‘cause she didn’t want to get us the full gram that this brand offers!”

Blank faced, Usagi answered, “I don’t know what that last part meant at all, but I really don’t wanna know anyway.”

The two sat in silence as Leo continued to fiddle with the concentrated THC pen with only a YouTube video playing on the TV to act as background noise. Usagi hoped that meant Leo lost interest in the topic now that he showed off his vape pen, that was until Leo opened his mouth again.

“So wanna take a hit?”

“Huh!? No! Weren’t you catching on with my obvious oppositions to that kind of stuff?!” He vicariously shook his head in disapproval. “I have important people in my life that expect me to be better than to do these types of things. Also don’t wanna die of lung cancer anytime soon.”

Sucking his teeth, Leo pressed “C’moooon! We can shotgun if you want!”

“Shotgun?”

“Basically I’ll take a hit and I’ll pass it to you by blowing it to your mouth for you to inhale.”

A strained expression appeared on Usagi’s face as he painted the image in his head and from what he’d seen it wasn’t very appealing if not super awkward. “That sounds dumb and weird.”

Leo cackled as he instantly knew the other teen didn’t get it, so he explained through small fits of laughter, “I don’t think you’re picturing it right dude. Our mouths have to be like really close so it’s sorta gonna look like we’re gonna go in for a kiss.”

‘Kiss?’ Usagi thought to himself as he re-imagined Leo’s new description. What he saw was Leo’s attractive face up close to his and his plush mixed tone lips slightly parted and nearly touching his slightly cracked ones, that maybe he might actually find out what Leo’s glossed lips finally taste like if he leans his head forward just a bit more. His heart picked up at the thought and with red tinting his tan skin he quickly adversed “We’re not doing that!”

“Oh? Sorry, was that a lil’ too gay for your straight-male self?” With an amused smile, Leo playfully rolled his eyes and coolly replied “Chill out man, it’s just a suggestion. But since you’re such a chad, I guess you’ll just do it on your own then?” He tried to hand him the rectangular device, but Usagi merely pushed the cold and slender brown hand back to its owner’s vicinity.

“Iranai. Don’t need it, so have fun doing that stuff by yourself.” He firmly stated but just like him, Leo wasn’t going to lose his ground and continue his pursuit of convincing Usagi to smoke with him.

“Don’t be lame and have a sesh with meee!”

“Nope.”

“Smoking isn’t as fun if you’re not doing it with someone! Yui!”

“Sucks to be you I guess.”

Leo let out an elongated sigh before voicing, “I get that you have this weird honor code thing where you take promises to heart n’ stuff, but aren’t I just as important to you too?”

Perplexed brown eyes met his hazel ones and with a casual shrug Leo resumed, “I just asked you to do this with me because you’re cool, and I feel comfortable around you, but if you really don’t wanna, then I won’t force you since it’s not fun if you’re not into it too.”

Usagi was gradually starting to feel his ‘tough as nails’ facade slip at the compliments Leo threw his way because of course he’d give more of shit of what this guy says than anyone else who’s known him for years or even since his birth.

“I wasn’t kidding when I said I don’t do this a lot y’know. Sorta why I really wanted you to try it with me, since it could be like a really fun memory that only you and me can share.” Leo suddenly said, and although Usagi knows better than to blindly trust Leo’s word he could tell that his friend was not fully lying at this time.

“So, what? Trying to tell me that you don’t smoke with everyone?”

“No sir.”

“I don’t buy it.”

“I’m serious. I’ve literally only smoked with my siblings. I don’t trust the crap people at school have, and I don’t trust the people at school like that even less so yeah, I don’t smoke with everyone and only a few select people are worthy to see me at my stupidest.”

Silence fell upon them again and Leo didn’t really know if his bait had worked or not, but sure enough it did as Usagi abruptly huffed out “Give it” and extended his hand to reveal his open palm that waited expectantly to receive something.

“But I thought—.“

“Just pass me the stupid thing you manipulative asshole!”

Ecstatic over Usagi’s change of mind, Leo quickly handed him his vape pen and watched as Usagi mauled over his new decision.

“If you’re worried about how you’re gonna act, don’t worry. Since I’m not as new to this like you, I can keep my bearings and take care of you if you end up doing something stupid.”

Cupping Usagi’s hand that held his little item of relaxation and enjoyment, he looked into the other boy’s eyes and earnestly promised “Swear on my dad’s life that I won’t let anything bad happen to you. Trust me, all that you’re gonna feel is as if your whole body is floating and even find yourself kinda hungry.” Letting good of his hand, Leo encouraged him to go for it with a nod of his head.

‘Am I really going to do this?’

With one last glance at Leo’s smug yet gorgeous hazel-green eyes he felt as if his heart had been squeezed from the huge amount of affection he was currently feeling for the other teen across of him.

‘Yeah, I really am.’

Hesitantly, he brought the pen to his lips and the more he dared to take a hit he could hear the loud anxious pounding coming from the center of his chest. It beat so loud that once he finally took a brave inhale from the pen he didn’t even register Leo’s rushed warning, and before he knew it, he felt as if a ball of fire had invaded his airways.

Imagine: the couple watches Titanic and Natasha gets upset.

You huffed and rolled your eyes at the scene that was currently playing on tv. Somehow, your girlfriend Natasha made you watch ‘Titanic’ on your movie night - she has never seen it before and insisted on learning about the popular film. You have regretted it since minute one, but you kept silent to not ruin the experience for her.

At least you kept silent until now. But the ship just sank and Rose was laying on the door, Jack drifting beside her in the cold water, and you couldn’t hold back your annoyed comments anymore.

‘I love you, Jack.’ Rose confesses on screen.

‘Really?! They know each other for like two days and-’ you sigh, ’she just could move on the door and make space for him. What the-’

Natasha slapped you lightly on the back of your head and urged you to be quit with calling out your name determinedly. ‘Fine.’ You mumbled and snuggled into the redhead’s embrace.

Only a couple minutes later the iconic promise scene played and you were fighting your tiredness to not fall asleep when you noticed Nat’s irregular breathing and heard a sniffle. You moved your head and searched Natasha’s eyes.

‘Awww, Tasha…’ You put your hands on her cheeks and tenderly wiped her tears away. She turned her head embarrassed and tried to hide her crying, but you couldn’t stay away when you heard her sobs. ‘Come here, Nat,’ you held your arms wide open, ‘please.’

Natasha rushed into the embrace and clutched onto you. She hid her face in her neck and started crying hard, covering your shoulder in warm tears. After you rubbed her back and prepped kisses on her hair, your girlfriend finally seemed to calm down. You sat through the end of the movie and later you were getting ready for bed.

‘Leonardo Di Caprio made the Black Widow cry. You surprise me over and over.’ You teased her while putting on your pajamas. Natasha just watched you through the mirror and rolled her eyes.

‘Listen, Rose, you're gonna get outta here, you're gonna go on and you're gonna make lots of babies and you're gonna watch 'em grow.’ You quoted the movie exaggerated and made mocking moves while speaking your words. You changed your voice to imitate the other character. ‘I love you, Jack, but my body is co-’

‘Stop.’ You smiled at Natasha’s comment and motioned to get to her and hug her from behind - it was just then when you noticed Nat’s sad expression. ‘Please stop it.’

‘Oh Nat come on, i didn‘t mean to upset you, i was just joking.’

The redhead toweled her face down and scurried to the bed, not even looking at you. You sighed and turned around defeated. Natasha finished lotioning her hands and had already turned off her bedside lamp by the time you slipped under the covers.

You faced her in the dark and barely could make out her side profile before you searched for her hand on the blanket. When she didn’t pull away, you sighed in relief.

‘I’m sorry.’ You absently drew little circles on the back of her hand with your thumb, but she still stared at the ceiling. ‘What’s the matter with my girl?’

Finally, Nat turned to you and you could see her watery eyes.

‘Promise m-’

‘Nat, you can’t be serious.’ You laughed incredulously, but when Natasha stayed serious, your expression faltered. ‘Nat…’

‘Promise me that if something happens to me, you’ll survive. You won’t give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, and never let go of that promise.’

‘Natasha I-.. that’s a joke, right?.’

She just whispered your name and looked at you with pleading eyes.

You cursed yourself for the words you were about to say, but you knew Natasha wouldn’t let go if you didn’t do it. ‘I promise.’ You sighed and kissed her hand.

‘Thank you.’

‘Am I supposed to say ‘Never let go’ now?’ You laughed ironically while stepping forward.

You laid her favorite flowers on the ground and raised your hand to run it over the letters that were engraved in the cold stone.

‘I love you, Nat.’

Hot tears streamed down your face, and you wished nothing more than to be able to hold her again.

That was the day you swore to yourself to never give a promise again.

do you have any favorite romcoms / ones you can particularly recommend? I don't watch a ton of them myself but the other day I did want to & couldn't think of anything

oh god. i havent actually watched any in a LONG time, because, like i said, i've been trying to expand my taste. So this rec list will be years removed from any time i've watched any of these and heavily shaded by the taste of teenage me. fair warning.

One of my all time faves is Ever After, which JDQ recently disparaged in a clapcast or somewhere but dont believe them its iconic. Drew Barrymore as Cinderella but her family is minor french gentry and the prince hangs out with leonardo davinci. It's flawed, but it's so good to me. My sister walked down the aisle to its soundtrack though, lol, so that might tell you it has outsized importance to my family.

I've always loved the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail combo, but its been MANY years and i cannot say if they hold up. But they're very sweet and hilarious in my memory. I also associate How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days with them, but i watched it way fewer times. I remember thinking that one was spectacular.

10 things i hate about you! if you like teen romances and a shakespeare retelling, its SO good.

The movie that inspired the post was Mamma Mia 2, which is a bonkers movie but also. wow! romance! but also NOT a romcom, mostly like. family and girlpower and Abba.

I hope at least some of these interest you!! And I hope you have a blast if they do ^.^

Happy 20th birthday to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003!

I remember around 15 years ago, when I was at the ripe age of 5-6 years old, someone gave me a TMNT DVD for my birthday. I wasn't exactly into action shows like that at the time and pretty much hated it, but my mom told me to give it a chance and put it on for my anyway. It was this show that made me realize just how much I love superheroes.

TMNT 2003 is something special. It's the most loyal show to the original Mirage comics, for one, with literal episodes taken directly from the pages themselves. Even the first lines of the show are from the first issue! Who can ever forget Leonardo's iconic line: "He's wrong. We're not wearing costumes." I still get shivers hearing the delivery of those sentences to this day.

And let's not forget that it was this iteration that basically confirmed the TMNT multiverse in dare I say the greatest turtle movie ever released yet: Turtles Forever. Because of that movie, we know that every past iteration and future iteration is connected to one another, and, whenever one version of the story ends, we have the hope in our hearts that it might not actually be the last we'll see of those specific turtles, whether it be in future references, actual crossovers, or something else entirely.

And, of course, we can't forget that this was the first cartoon version of the turtles that apparently swore, albeit it only in some of the few comic issues of the show ever released.

Who doesn't love that? If you're a fan of 2003, by the way, you should definitely check out the comics they released of it. If not all of them, just check out issue #5. It's become one of my favorite comic books ever (of all time) just because of how absolutely raw it is. The comics really did not hold back at all.

Which, by the way, is true for the show, too! Who could ever forget iconic episodes like Same As It Never Was, which ended up literally scarring us as kids by showing a fascist, apocalyptic future that was supposedly indirectly Donatello's doing, where we had to watch three of our turtle boys literally die? I can never forget, at least. That episode gave me nightmares for a bit when I was a kid. Did I still end up watching it? Of course! I needed to see how the Shredder ended up getting defeated!

I could go on and on about this series (and I have, if you're someone I know in real life and are a victim of my ramblings of it), but I'll cut this short here for all of your sakes. I'll just end it with this: thank you, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird— and 4Kids Entertainment—for giving us a show that would stick with me for so long. I don't know where I'd be without the teenage mutant ninja turtles. It's literally the show that became my gateway to Marvel! So, instead of arguing about which version is better than which, let's take today to celebrate these idiot turtle boys for what they are: an amazing, creative story that brings us all together with one universal truth: Things Change, but that may not always be a bad thing.

What did you think about the Michael Bay TMNT movie? I haven't seen it and don't follow TMNT in general, but I'm curious about what you thought because his movies can be pretty divisive.

This is an interesting ask, because I definitely have a lot to say about these two movies! I'll start with the designs of the turtles. I think these are one of my least favorite designs for the turtles, and I'll explain why. For one, the TMNT have always been very short and stocky. This is because they are usually mutated from tiny turtles you would find in pet shops (such as box turtles or red-eared sliders). The turtles themselves are generally around 5 feet or even 4 feet depending on the adaptation.

((I'll go ahead and list a few examples. Here are the heights of the turtles tallest to shortest in 2012: Donatello is 5'6, Leonardo is 5'1, Raphael is 5'0, and Michelangelo is 4'11. In the 2003 series, the turtles are roughly the same height at about 5 feet. The adult human characters tower over them. The original turtles depicted in the Mirage comics are even shorter! Donatello is 5'1, Leonardo is 5'0, Michelangelo is 4'8, and Raphael is the smallest at 4'6!))

This is a bit silly, but I care a great deal about the turtles being small! I think it's cool to have a group of guy superheroes who are short and stocky, rather than massive, muscular dudes. It subverts expectations and gender roles. And it really adds to the idea that these guys are underdogs, as you have these short kings going against giant mutants. It's something I've always appreciated. The designs of the turtles in the Bay movies really feels like it's trying to appeal to this weird male fantasy by making them huge monsters.

But it seriously backfired. Most die-hard fans were creeped out by the designs, and trying to make them look "realistic" made them look awful. They aren't very expressive and they do NOT look like teens--more like 40-year-old men. The only people I've seen who like these designs are middle aged women who think the Bay turtles are hot. Given the... specific camera angles they use for the movies, I guess I don't blame them. It feels like they accidentally sexualized the turtles in trying to make them fit this male fantasy ideal.

Onto the characters. I think that Donnie and Raph are the best. Raph is the most likable turtle by far, leading me to think that Raph is Michael Bay's favorite. Leo is pretty awful and it feels like he hates his brothers in the second movie. Mikey is also terrible, constantly flirting with and harassing April, which feels out of character for him. I don't feel a brotherly dynamic like in the other iterations. Raph and Leo act like divorced parents who are fighting over the custody of their children, Mikey and Donnie. Mikey and Donnie don't feel like they have a lot of agency at all.

Master Splinter is okay. I don't remember much about this version of Splinter and his design is way too realistic. They decided to have this version of Splinter start out as a rat, and I prefer it as him starting as a human who mutated into a rat. April is oversexualized in a pretty dehumanizing way. Megan Fox stated that she was treated poorly by Michael Bay, so it's uncomfortable watching her in this film. This version of Casey Jones is one of my least favorites; they made him a cop instead of a vigilante, which is super anti-Casey.

The villains are very forgettable. Karai doesn't do anything in the first or second movie, and I can't believe they did her dirty twice. The Shredder is equally boring and unmemorable. I usually enjoy the Shredder a lot, so the fact that this version doesn't stand out isn't great. I liked Bebop and Rocksteady just fine for the second movie, and I also liked Baxter Stockman as well. Overall, the villains were far too generic, which is disappointing given TMNT's history of super iconic villains.

Now for the plot. The first movie's plot is super weak, and it doesn't feel like there's a main character. I think Raph is supposed to be the main character, but I can't tell. I don't remember much about the plot itself, aside from a few key moments. One moment that stuck with me was a scene where Donnie says that he licks the frosting off poptarts and puts them back in the box. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the 2014 movie, not even the famous elevator scene. Do what you will with that information.

The second movie's plot is a huge improvement. It looks nicer and it does a better job with the characterization. There is a clear main character in Leonardo and he does have an identifiable character arc. They recycled the tired "Leo vs Raph" plotline, which is disappointing. But that's an issue I have with most TMNT movies, so I try not to hold it against this one too much. Mikey is also less awful to April in this one, so that's neat I guess. They still have a scene where April dresses up as a "hot schoolgirl" for no reason, which is embarrassing.

They do come up with a cool concept: Donnie finds out how to make a substance that will turn the turtles into humans, and they can live on the surface. Leo tells Donnie to keep this from Mikey and Raph, who are hurt that Leo made that decision for THEM when they do find out. The whole thing causes Mikey and Raph to split from the team to work together, and it's honestly a really cool idea. In the end, all four decide to remain mutants. I do wish they did more with this concept, as it's super cool and adds nice tension to the plot.

I do have some issues with this movie. Remember how I said they made Casey Jones a cop? This movie has a bunch of bizarre military and police propaganda. The TMNT franchise is generally pretty critical the military and government (see the way the President of the US is depicted in TMNT 2003). But the military is depicted as not only the Good Guys, but they also accept the TMNT as heroes. In most other versions, the turtles are seen as monsters by the government and general public, and are essentially vigilantes as a result.

I would like to end with talking about the production of these two movies. Mainly the elephant in the room: Michael Bay. Many of the actors who've worked on this movie (notably Megan Fox) have stated that they were abused by Michael Bay. The working conditions were horrible. Even though the sequel improved some things writing-wise, it doesn't matter if the people working on this movie were abused. I don't want to see Michael Bay working on this franchise ever again, or frankly, working in film at all. They could easily give the job to a director/writer who would not abuse those working on the movie.
