This was the first time I drew my design for all of the Chess characters at once. Might be the cutest Toly I ever drew. Also featuring Freddie with heterochromia, a headcanon I forgot about for a while. Very heavily RAH concert based, except for the Arbiter cause I wanted him to be more funky.

freddie & viigand!

i recently wrote this story for @nvskyprospekt for our secret santa! it’s a chess au where anatoly & viigand are robots designed to be super good at chess so that they could beat freddie. well. not gonna spoil things but. things don’t go as planned. BUT. this is one of my fav scenes and i just had to draw it! freddie and viigand are sitting at the base of the mountain in merano. freddie just walked up AND down the mountain and had a seizure. our boy is not doing good. (i wanted to draw his medical ID bracelet but he took it off 5 seconds before this). anyway. he finds viigand sitting at the bottom of the mountain and then freddie goes on an anti-strawberry yogurt rant so true. one of the prompts rodya requested was freddie and viigand mentorship and that was honestly such an important inspiration for me. also! rodya’s drawings inspired freddie’s glasses!

What do i say is the thing...? I'm not quite sure... I mean, for starters it is so wonderful and fascinating to be reading all of this really... My job on the ship is exciting but nothing could have prepared me for this! But what do I say? My names Leonid Viigand, I'm one of the head technicians here on this ship, my roommate is Anatoly Sergievsky, he has some kind of weird relationship with Freddie Trumper, (who would be a much cooler roommate...) My best friend is Svetlana Sergievskaya who is the most wonderful mechanic, and I'm friends with her wife Florence Vassy.

But... This probably all seems not too different from what you've heard before. I'm not quite sure what else there is...
