Champion Night Terrors
Another attempt at Truerivalshipping (leonxRaihan/Leohan). This time a little angstier.
CW for light violence/abuse. Link to it on AO3 at the end.

“I thought we were making progress. He was eating, and he was starting to smile again. He’s been sleeping through the night and finally remembering that he is safe.”
Raihan pinched the bridge of his nose, eyes tightly closed. His free hand tightly clenched the mug in his hand, shaking. Across from him sat Leon’s mother. Worn eyes watch Raihan, listening to him with patience and attentiveness.
His visit, though unexpected, was welcomed. And his concerns heartfelt. And given who his concerns were for, she couldn’t be more appreciative.
“It’s not your fault.” She assured as her hand lightly held his.
“I know,” Raihan released the bridge of his nose, letting his hand rest, “but last night he woke up again screaming and crying.” He shook his head. “Something’s going on in that fuzzy head of his and he refused to tell me.”
“He doesn’t want to worry.” Leon’s mom stated, knowing that all too well.
He shrugged. “Unfortunately, it’s too late for that, mama champ. I’m worried sick.”
There was a pause. One long enough for the sound of the door opening and closing to sound off. Picking the mug up with both hands, Raihan took a sip of coffee.
“Ma, I’m home!” Hop’s voiced greeted as footsteps honed in on the kitchen. “Is everything alright? Why is…” Realizing Raihan was in the kitchen with his mom, Hop’s demeanor shifted. “Oh! Hey Raihan.”
“Hey, Hop.” Raihan greeted. “It’s good to see you.”
Hop smiled then looked to his mom. “Is Lee okay?” He inquired. “He always said he hated sleeping on the couch because it was too firm.”
His mom smiled, comfortingly. “He’s alright. You know you’re brother. Runs himself ragged when left unchecked. Leon’s just a little under the weather and Raihan wanted some tips.”
“Oh… okay.” He looked to Raihan as he headed for the stairs. “He likes lavender tea. He likes the smell of it and it always makes him happy.”
Raihan smirked, appreciating the suggestion. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He watched as Hop went up the stairs, only turning to face the boy’s mother when he heard the door close. “Is it okay to lie to him like that?”
“He worries about Leon enough as is.” She noted. “And I think I speak for all of us when I say Leon wouldn’t want Hop to worry about this.”
“You’re not wrong. It just doesn’t feel right.”
“I appreciate the concern, but if Hop does find out, that should be up to Leon.” Raihan gave her a resigned and understanding nod. “Now, you said you might have a theory.”
“Right.” He readjusted his position. “So… it seems like this started up after Rose tried to trigger the Darkest Day. Between that and his loss, I thought that maybe he was just having a hard time processing the emotional stress. However, last nights night terror sparked after watching the court case and former chairman Rose yelling at the judge. Leon flinched when he did. So I suspect there’s something more sinister to Rose than I previously thought.” He paused, leaning forward. “He was sponsored by Rose, yeah? Do you know if he ever got… aggressive with Leon?”
Eyes curiously moved around as Leon’s mother thought for a moment. She tried to recall whatever she could about the sponsorship and Leon’s journey to becoming a Campion. She folded her arms as one hand rested beneath her chin.
“If he was I never saw it.” She admitted. “Nor did Leon ever say anything about it. During Rose’s sponsorship him, Leon always appeared happy. He still carries that demeanor to this day. And Rose always seemed kind to Leon until recently.” She nodded at the memory. “He treated Leon like his own son. Praised him for his hard work, stating how Leon was just the champion Galar needed.” Her head tilted. “If he did do anything, I could never read the signs, which I’d deeply regret never realizing. Rose never gave me a reason to suspect…”
A frightened whimper echoed from the other room, silencing her statement. The dragon specialist felt a chill go down his spine as another, slightly louder, whimper emerge. Raihan jumped from his chair running to the living room. Leon’s mom wasn’t too far behind, stopping at the doorway, watching in panic as Raihan helped her son.
Leon’s body was tightly curled, despite it’s anxious shaking. His eyes were tightly shut, tears forming. Approaching the couch, Raihan shuffled around. He sat Leon up as he sat on the couch and pulled the champion on his lap. Arms wrapped around Leon as Raihan’s hand rested on the back of Leon’s head, gently stroking purple hair.
“Leon, it’s okay.” Raihan whispered. “You’re safe.”
Shaking his head unconsciously, Leon hissed. Low mumbling escaped Leon. Scrambled jumbling of what sounded like words. Leon unconsciously thrashed in Raihan’s grip, letting out a fearful cry.
Raihan said nothing, holding Leon tight. He didn’t care if he got hurt, knowing that if he let go of Leon, the man would unintentionally hurt himself. A scream escaped Leon then a gasp as he regained consciousness.
Wide amber eyes scanned the room, confused and anxious. His mind slowly started to collect itself as Leon realized he was home. And as he focused on his mother, his eyes started to water as he realized he had frightened her.
“I’m sorry.” Leon apologized, covering his eyes.
Leon’s mother let out a soft sigh, lightly smiling. “It’s okay, honey.” She sat down on the couch. “Everything’s going to be okay.”
“But I’m the… champion. I can’t be afraid. And I’m certainly not supposed to cry.”
Leon felt his body being constricted as Raihan tightened his embrace. “Leon, if you think we care about that, you’re wrong. Champion or not, you’re human like the rest of is. You’re allowed to show emotion.”
“But-“
The sound of a door swinging open alarmed the trio. Leon’s head bobbed trying to locate the sound. His mother was the first to realize it came from upstairs.
“Mom?!” Hop shouted as he started moving.
Horrified that Hop possibly witnessed any of this, Leon frantically looked between Raihan and his mother. She and Raihan exchanged glances. She got up, heading for the stairs.
“Everything’s alright, Hop!” She replied as she walked up the stairs.
There was a moment of agonizing silence until they no longer heard Hop or the duo’s mother. Shoulder’s deflated as Leon leaned into Raihan. The smell of bonfires, soothing him slightly.
“I’m sorry, Raihan.” Leon apologized.
“You don’t need to apologize.” Raihan stated, brushing bangs off of Leon’s face. “I just… I’m just… Leon, I’m worried about you. I want to help you, but I feel like you're shutting me out.”
Sitting up, Leon looked up at Raihan, guilty and scared. “I didn’t mean to make you feel that way. I just don’t want to worry you by burdening you with my stupid trauma.”
A hand clasped the side of Leon’s face. “I AM worried! You’re not a burden. And your trauma is not stupid.” Raihan gently kissed Leon’s forehead. “Please… let me help you.”
Taking a deep breath, Leon shuffled off of Raihan’s lap. Sitting on his knees, Leon sat on the ground in front of his boyfriend. Amber eyes refused to acknowledge Raihan. Not even when Raihan joined him on the floor. Fists clenched on Leon’s lap, as he tried to find the right words.
Raihan watched him in silence, not planning to force a response out of Leon.
“I thought he was a good man.” Leon stated. “He saw potential in me and thought I would go far.”
Leon stumbled back, a fresh bruise forming on his cheek. His Charmeleon ran over to him, concerned. Leon tried not to react, but his shock and pain were undeniable. He winced, looking at Chairman Rose for answers.
“You got cocky.” Rose lectured.
”I won, didn’t I?”
“Only after you nearly caused your Axew to faint against a Hatterene. You know Fairy types beat it.” He approached Leon with disappointment and annoyance. “Then you got in a fight with that trainer all because you let his insults get to you.”
”He called me a shit trainer and a waste of space.”
Rose’s voice raised. “I don’t care! He could have said you smelled like a Skuntank for all I care. Champions do not let crash words get to them. I’m very disappointed in you.”
Leon gasped, faltering. His shoulders slumped and he took a few steps back. Holding back the urge to scream, he bit his tongue. Rose’s demeanor shifted, softening with a smile. Approaching Leon, he pat his head.
“I’m sorry, Leon.” He apologized. “You have to realize that the world is watching and I’d hate to see you’re reputation sour. Especially this soon. So takes this as a lesson in how to be humble.”
Hands clenched Leon’s pant legs. “I was only sixteen and he hit me like I was a grown man. It was the first time he hit me, but not the last.”
Raihan leaned towards Leon, hands holding Leon’s. Amber eyes gazed at Raihan, holding back tears.
“There’s more.” Leon admitted as one of Raihan’s hands held his arm.
“You don’t have to-“
“Please… I need to tell you. I need to let this go.”
Bruised hands slammed on a locked closet door. How long had he been in there? Minutes? Hours? Days?
“Let me out!” Leon shouted.
He was terrified. Tears streaking down his face. Leon lost a battle. The first in since he started his journey.
“You need to learn that your actions have consequences.” Rose stated from the other side. “I hate punishing you, Leon, but after today, I might have been wrong in sponsoring you.”
Footsteps shuffled, leaving Leon alone on the dark. The sounds of screams echoing behind him.
“He left me in there for so long, multiple times.” Leon recalled, holding back tears. “He wanted me to learn to ‘overcome the solitude’ I would face as a Champion. But I was afraid. So very afraid.”
Thumbs lightly rubbed tears away as Raihan’s hands cupped Leon’s face. “You don’t have to tell me anymore.” Raihan whispered, heart aching for Leon.
Hands grabbed Raihan’s wrists. “One last confession.” Leon pleased. “For me. Please. I can’t hold onto it anymore.”
He did it. He finally did it. Leon was now the Champion. Yet, everything was not as it seemed. Something off.
Leon had lost weight. Though he had muscle, he was leaner than he should be. His attire was neat and and his stance was confident. Yet, his smile, warm and welcoming, hid exhaustion and pain.
Retiring to his hotel room, Leon cleaned up. Washing his face, a bruise and scratch on his cheek emerged from their concealer shield. Dark circles rimmed his eyes as he sighed.
“You did wonderful out there.” Rose applauded, entering his room with a spare key. “The crowd loves you.”
“Mhm.”
Leon continued on. He wasn’t meaning to come off as standoffish. He was just tired from the celebratory ceremony.
SMACK
Leon yelped, stepping back as the scratch on his face started bleeding. Amber eyes flashed, dilated as they watched Rose. Hands grabbed him, shaking him violently.
“Don’t you dare ignore me, young man.” Rose lectured. “I made you. You are nothing without me.”
“I’m sorry.” Leon apologized, his voice weak and tears forming. His cheek stung as he was hit again then went numb.
“And don’t you dare cry. Champions don’t cry. Smile!” Fearful, Leon listened. “Good. Now, freshen up. The dinner starts in thirty minutes.”
He pushed Leon back, throwing him against the wall. A light thud could be heard as Leon’s head lightly bounced off it. Leon leaned forward, face hidden beneath hair as his gaze fell to the ground. Rose left him there, opening the door. He looked back at Leon with disgust.
“What do you have to say, young man?” All Rose heard was a mumble. “Speak up!”
“Thank you.” Leon softly replied.
“You’re welcome. Now wear that red suit and you better happy when I come back.”
Rose slammed the door behind him and left. Leon, now alone, slid down and sat on the floor. Curling up, he hugged his legs, silently crying.
“I couldn’t say anything.” Leon admitted though tears. “He was right. Without his sponsorship, I wouldn't be where I am today.” A choked gasp escaped him. “I may have pretended to be happy for my safety at times, but I was genuinely happy about becoming the Champion.” Shaking his head, Leon looked away. “He’s been there for me since the beginning and I admired him. I couldn’t just forget years of kindness because he hurt me.”
Leon was now sobbing. Choked cries scratched his throat and heavy tears flooded his sight. His body shook like a branch in the wind. Fear bleed from Leon, finally releasing buried violent memories.
Arms wrapped around Leon, pulling him close. Blue eyes closed as Raihan held Leon tight. He said nothing, knowing nothing he could say would help. Leon buried his face in Raihan’s jacket, wrapping his arms around Raihan.
His mind wandered processing what he had just learned. All of the abuse Leon endured under the guise of a smile. How bad it must have gotten. An image of Rose drawing blood because he was annoyed… strict… downright abusive. It made Raihan’s blood boil.
But Raihan couldn’t worry about that now. Now with Leon in this state. Resting on Leon’s head, Raihan took in the scent of vanilla and lavender. He gently rocked back and forth in an attempt to soothe Leon. His frame lightly vibrated as Raihan began humming.
Once Leon calmed down, Raihan loosened his grip. Instead of backing up, Leon stayed put, latching onto Raihan like a Mankey to a tree. He melted as Raihan ran his hand through Leon’s hair.
“Do you want to press charges?” Raihan inquired.
Leon shook his head. “He’s already been arrested. Even if it wasn’t for what he did for me, he’s already being punished. And I still believe that there’s a good man in there somewhere.”
Though he did not agree, Raihan nodded, respecting Leon’s choice. “What about therapy? For you I mean.”
Leon rested his head on Raihan’s shoulder. “Mhm. Not today, but I’d like to soon. Could you help me?”
“Of course. I might have a recommendation or two that’ll suit you.”
Leon nodded, closing his eyes. He hummed a little, comfortable and relieved. Exhausted too.
Thinking back to how he felt, now with a clearer head, Raihan sighed. ”He’s never going to hurt you again.” He promised. “If he even thinks about getting near you, I’ll kill him.”
Leon smiled. “Thank you, my little Axew, but that won’t be necessary.”
“We’ll see about that.”
Leon shifted slightly, kissing Raihan’s cheek. “Right now, I think we could use a vacation. You think we can go to Sinnoh? I hear they have this fancy restaurant where people like to double battle and I think you’ll like Cynthia. She has a Garchomp and knows all the best ice cream shops.”
Raihan chuckled. “Sure. Why not?” He softly kissed Leon. “But first, you need to get some sleep and set up a therapy session.”
“Deal.”
~
When it had gotten too quiet too long, Hop and his mom went downstairs. They hoped Leon and Raihan hadn’t left. Or didn’t get into a fight.
Turning into the living room, Hop’s mother smiled, chuckling. Raihan and Leon were sprawled out on the ground, fast asleep. Leon’s head was resting on Raihan’s chest, purple hair wildly covering the ground. Raihan, meanwhile, had one hand wrapped around Leon’s waist and the other on Raihan’s stomach.
Hop, having ran back upstairs for a moment, entered the room with two blankets. His mither joined, taking a blanket and unfolding it. Once unfolded, they covered the sleeping duo. Neither awoke, unconsciously shifting slightly under the blankets.
Knowing they weren’t going anywhere, Hop and his mom let them be. Whatever happened, it would seem that Raihan had helped, and Leon on the mend. And for that, that deserved the rest.

Hop (6) used to follow Raihan (16) everywhere, after Leon (16) brought him home for the first time.
He took one long look at him and decided: this is my new big brother now and I need to catch up with him.
Raihan was a bit worried that he could be bad influence and tried to shake him off.
Just bad that Hop is basically a living Navi and would always find him, no matter where he would hide.
Even if that meant to go alone into the wild zone and give both his brothers many Grey hairs

Just curious (and because it’s for something) but what swsh ships do you ship or do you not have any?
uhhhhhh for the most part I’m cool with most ships, as long as they’re not toxic or, you know, illegal.
Personally, I kind of struggle a little, and you’ll see why.
Leon x Raihan is good.
Piers x Raihan is good (you see now my problem.)
Solution! Piers x Leon x Raihan!!!
But another problem: Piers x Gordie.
And to a lesser extent, I ship Nessa x Sonia. Because they’re cute.
That’s about it, I guess. They all got tied into each other because I’m not a huge shipper and I just kind of fell into all of these. I don’t really come up with ships myself. I see other people’s and just go “hey I like that.”
In fact, this is the longest list of ships for one fandom that I have. Most of them I don’t ship anyone.

Hugs & Hammocks & Shuckle Conspiracies (LeonxRaihan)
After a yawn, a stretch, and a discreet butt scratch – er, lower back scratch – Raihan sauntered through the sliding glass doors of Rose Tower. How many yawns were too many to make it unhealthy? Was there even a limit? Maybe he shouldn’t have stayed up all night finishing his training schedule. He probably could have reviewed his and Leon’s match at least, then maybe he could be napping right now instead of meeting with Galar’s darling Champion to watch himself lose on the big screen of the conference room.
"Hey," Raihan told the secretary. "I've got a meeting with Leon."
"Champion Leon," she corrected with a smile. "And I'll let him know you're here."
Raihan barely offered her a nod in response and leaned against the counter. He tried to be in Rose Tower as little as possible. It was so sterile, almost an insult to the roses that bloomed beneath the floor. They were probably fake, anyway.
"He's waiting for you in Wyndon Park, Mr. Raihan," the secretary said.
"What?" Raihan asked. He tried to cover his sneer, though his exhaustion left little ability for such disguises. "We're not meeting here?"
"No Mr. Raihan," the secretary said, still with that plastic smile. "His assistant says you're to meet him at Wyndon Park."
"That's halfway across town," Raihan muttered. Good thing he came all the way here just to retrace his steps through Wyndon. "Thanks for letting me know."
"It's my pleasure, Mr. Raihan," the secretary said. "I suggest hailing a cab, so you don't keep Champion Leon waiting even longer."
"Thanks for the tip," Raihan muttered as he turned back towards the doors. "Wouldn't want to insult him with my tardiness."
"Thank you for understanding, Mr. Raihan."
Raihan didn't respond and tried to keep his steps light as he left through the sliding glass doors. As soon as he was far enough from the building, he let out a groan, then a sigh, and his feet dragged along the white concrete. Taking the monorail again would be double the expense, and apparently that secretary couldn't be bothered to hail a cab for him. Guess Leon will have to deal with his insulting tardiness, since he wasn’t about to fork out the extra cash for a fancy lift.
Raihan flopped into the monorail seat and bit back a yawn. The city of Wyndon flickered outside the window, though the colors were fuzzy from how fast they were moving, and even more so from how Raihan's eyes kept closing. He tried playing on his phone, but his eyes kept blurring and the light burned the back of his eyes.
He reached his stop, paid the fair with gritted teeth, and began his trek through downtown. How were they supposed to critique their match if they were in a park? Did they reserve the amphitheater for a showing, or something? Or was this meeting some cover up and Leon wasn't even going to be there? He decided if Leon wasn't at the park, he was just going to move onto the next thing in his schedule. He'd rather get an earful from Rose than continue this demeaning goose chase.
He offered a few waves, a few smiles, and a few pictures to fans as he walked through downtown. Hopefully the bags under his eyes weren't too prominent, or at least disguised from a photo filter or something. After walking long enough for late midday to shift to evening, Raihan finally reached the park. He pulled out his phone and shot a text to Leon.
Thanks for letting me know about the location change. I'm at the park, where are you?
A response came immediately.
Sorry! I told the secretary to tell you, guess she forgot. I'm at the top of the hill between the 2 trees
Raihan didn't bother responding and tucked his phone back into his pocket. Top of the hill? Did they set up a screen or something?
The fresh air of the park was nice, but it took so long to get there that Raihan sent a guilty text to Nessa telling her they may need to reschedule their training session. He said that the darling Champion couldn't be rescheduled with, and she said she understood. A few kids were throwing a frisbee with their Yampers, and Raihan let a smile slip. This place was much nicer than the stagnant air of Rose Tower, at least.
"Raihan, over here!"
Raihan turned to see a hammock hanging between two tall trees at the top of the hill. It had the League insignia plastered on it, and a plume of purple hair hanging from it.
A… hammock…? How the hell were they supposed to watch a match in a hammock? Was Leon expecting them to canoodle and watch the sunset together instead?
Leon's face poked up from beneath the side, and immediately Raihan had to swallow that twang of excitement to see him. What a doofus, hiding in a hammock at the top of a hill in the most populated park in Wyndon. How did he manage to not get bombarded by fans?
"Sorry again," Leon said as Raihan reached the top of the hill. "I thought you knew to meet here."
"Well, I didn't," Raihan sighed. He glanced around. "So, what, you want me to stand the whole time? Sit on the ground? Are we still going to watch our match?"
"Yeah," Leon said as he patted the spot beside him. "Hop in."
Hop… in…? To… the hammock…?
"What…?" Raihan asked.
"I thought out here could be nicer than the Tower,” Leon said guiltily. “Not so many other people watching us, either. I've got the match pulled up on my phone."
"I've… I've never sat in a hammock before," Raihan said as he scanned the equipment. "How do I…?"
"Just slide in," Leon said with that doofy smile. “Easy.”
“Easy...” Raihan repeated. “Right.”
He turned, backed up a few inches, then haphazardly flopped into the hammock. Its dip was more than he was expecting, and Raihan tumbled straight into Leon’s lap. He lifted himself up, only to slide back where he started.
“Shit, is this supposed to happen?” Raihan grumbled as he tried to scooch off of the Champion’s firm thighs. His cheeks were flaring red as red a Charizard’s tail - probably just as hot, too. He pulled his hoodie collar up higher to hide it.
“Eh, don’t worry about it,” Leon said. “Okay so I already skipped the introduction and whatever and got to the part where you bring out Flygon.”
Leon continued explaining his perception of their battle, but Raihan’s focus was latched to the fact that he was still mushed up against Leon’s side. He wasn’t sure what would be worse: sitting with one leg over Leon’s, or risking moving again and ending up on top of him. Was he moving too much? Would Leon notice? He was still babbling about Flygon and Dragapult, apparently not fixated on how Raihan had no idea how to sit in this rubbish piece of fabric.
“Arceus how are you supposed to sit in this,” Raihan muttered as he tried to scooch away again. “I keep sliding on top of you.”
“That’s okay,” Leon said again. “That happens sometimes. Just sit like this.”
Leon pushed Raihan down by his shoulder, slid his leg beneath and between Raihan’s, and pulled Raihan’s head so he was resting on his chest. Leon hooked his arm behind Raihan’s head, rested his head on his fist, and held his phone out with the other.
“Can you still see the screen?” Leon asked.
Raihan blinked a few times.
“Um,” he muttered as he processed their arrangement. “Yeah I can see it.”
“Great,” Leon continued. “Okay anyway, so when you beat Dragapult I was kind of surprised you didn’t switch up the weather again, you haven’t been doing that as much lately and I think that would be a good theatrical element like Rose was talking about, the fans really like it when you do that, makes the battlefield more dynamic, too.”
After Leon babbled for a bit longer, and after Raihan slowly eased into leaning against Leon’s chest, Raihan offered some insight to their battle as well. Before long they were offering suggestions, offering scathing rebuttals, and plenty of teases, too. The first time Leon laughed and Raihan felt it rumbling in his chest, he may have tried a few more times to get that feeling again.
They watched their battle a few times, then other Gym Leader’s battles a few times, then some suggested videos on the sidebar, until they were eventually watching conspiracy theories on what’s really inside a Shuckle.
“It’s berry juice!” Leon snorted. “People drink it!”
“Wrong,” Raihan said. “You’re wrong. It’s gotta be like, a black hole or a lot of spit or something. Maybe even reproductive juices-“
“Ugh, ew, stop,” Leon grunted, though that shiny smile was easily plastered on his face. Raihan couldn’t see it because of how they were sitting, but he certainly felt it bump against his head whenever Leon shifted their position.
Leon started telling a story about how him and Hop found a Shuckle once, and Raihan bit back his own smile at the enthusiasm that was rumbling through Leon. He was gesturing with his hands, even his foot, and little pangs of something warm started pulling in Raihan’s stomach. Leon was such a doofus.
Although their conversation skills were evenly matched, Raihan found himself pausing longer and longer between sentences in favor of listening to Leon’s voice. The sun was beginning to set, and the bold oranges and pinks shone over Wyndon, speckling color over the bustling city. He had to admit, he also enjoyed this spot a bit more than Rose Tower.
Raihan’s eyes closed longer each time he blinked, too, until they fluttered open when Leon gently nudged his shoulder.
“You okay?” Leon asked, and Raihan jolted into focus.
“Hm? What?” Raihan mumbled. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
"You're overworking yourself, Rai," Leon whispered gently. "You should take a little nap."
"What?" Raihan mumbled in return, though it was getting challenging to keep his eyes open. He couldn't stop the yawn from escaping, either. "Maybe, I guess. We should watch our match one more time though, then I have to train with Nessa, then I've got to work with the new Trainers at the Gym, then I’ve… I’ve…"
His sentence slipped into a mumble, then into another yawn. The soothing rocking of the hammock was slowly luring him into sleep. He tried to sit up, but didn't try very hard to resist when Leon pulled him back down.
"How about you just close your eyes for a couple seconds," Leon whispered. His voice was a soothing rumble against Raihan's ear. "Then you can get up and do your stuff."
"Well, maybe a few seconds wouldn't hurt," Raihan mumbled in return. He folded his arms and slumped backwards again, though the side of the hammock was doing a good job of adding to that crick in his neck. “Just for a bit.”
“That position looks like it hurts,” Leon said softly. “You should lay down.”
Raihan grumbled again, though didn’t stop Leon when he gently hooked his arm around his waist and pulled. Raihan easily collapsed into Leon’s chest, and again didn’t resist when he adjusted them lower and lower.
“Stretch out a bit,” Leon suggested, and Raihan sleepily obeyed. “See, not so bad, huh?”
“Hmm,” Raihan hummed as he easily faded in and out. Was this Leon’s chest or two perky pillows? “Just for a few seconds.”
“That’s a good idea,” Leon chuckled as he wriggled his leg out from under Raihan. He set it on the grass to gently rock them back and forth. “Just a little bit. It feels really nice out here, doesn’t it?”
“Mmhmm,” Raihan hummed again as the soft breeze combed through his hair, lightly scratched the top of his head. “Yeah that feels really nice.”
Gentle head scratches, a brush over his cheek, the white noise of the breeze and the birds chirping, the faint beat of Leon’s heart, the soothing rocking of the hammock; each was an ingredient that slowly lured Raihan further into an easy sleep. As he slipped in and out of consciousness, Raihan was glad they didn’t have this meeting in Rose Tower either.

[an excerpt from a raihanxleon high school AU i may never finish]
--
Only fifteen minutes to go.
Leon’s face was starting to hurt from the persistent puckering and from the ceaseless class-president smiles he offered all the girls that came up. At least his lips weren’t dry, thanks to the Cheri berry chapstick Nessa bought for him, but he felt guilty whenever it left a waxy sheen on someone’s cheek. The girls didn’t seem to mind, and he even heard one mutter ‘I’m never washing my face again.’
He waved another goodbye to a group of giggling freshmen, checked his phone again, and sighed.
Fourteen minutes.
The girl’s kissing booth beside him had a lull in the action (as Sonia predicted), but it wasn’t like Leon didn’t notice how much shorter their shifts were compared to his… it even seemed Milo hardly sat down before getting back up for Leon’s turn. Sonia didn’t explicitly say starting quarterback and class president Leon would be the main attraction of the Fall Fair kissing booth, but the quickly-filling donation jar and snaking line said it for her.
Fourteen minutes and probably like, twenty seconds. At least yawning helped stretch his pinching face muscles. Leon had never given anyone a wedgie before, but if Gordie was a single second late to taking over his shift then he’d consider it.
Some of the girls were cute (whether that be pinch her cheeks cute or pinch her cheeks cute), and some of them were funny, so Leon at least didn’t mind when the people who came up were entertaining. Half the football team waltzed into line, only to briskly scuttle out when Vice Principal Oleana walked by and shot them a warning glare. They got their fair share of blackmail and recordings on their social media stories first, though.
After another girl left, Leon looked down the line. It hadn’t gotten any shorter, as people kept filling in at the back. Was the entire school in line? Yeesh. He bit back a mournful sigh and checked his phone again.
Under ten minutes now, he could do this. It was for charity.
He gave another cheek kiss and leaned back to stretch, and again forgot to not lick his lips and avoid eating the makeup residue from some of the girls. Sonia and Nessa had brought a washcloth for him a while ago to help, then Nessa brought him the chapstick. Those things helped a little, but maybe if Leon shot a desperate text to Gordie, he’d be willing to come a little early for his shift. After the next girl in line left, he reached for his phone, only to freeze when an orange headband sauntered into his periphery.
Leon tried to peer around the line of long hair and rosy cheeks that had been monopolizing his vision for so long, and his heart kicked when that orange headband stepped into line. Immediately his blood went cold, yet his stomach flipped in giddy anticipation. He wouldn’t, would he? No, he was just talking with a group of friends, Leon was pretty sure they were all from yearbook class. He tried to determine if any of them were holding hands or standing too close to each other. One guy with a group of girls often meant one of two things: he was a girlfriend’s emotional support, or those girls were his emotional support. He hoped it was the former just as much as he hoped it was the latter.
Leon’s focus was trained at the end of the line, and not on the girl in front of him. He offered a quick and distracted apology when he kissed her ear, then her hair, then finally made the mark of her cheek. The donation jar had been sitting calmly his entire shift, yet now it seemed like it was everywhere Leon’s clammy hands were. Thankfully the next girl in line picked it up off the ground for him, but it took him a few tries to get the money back in. Was the jar opening smaller? Leon finally looked away from the end of the line to properly aim.
No one had complained yet, but suddenly Leon was very aware of how chapped his lips were or what his breath smelled like. Did he have any gum? Did Sonia put any under the tabletop when she set up the booth? Leon felt around, only to poke his hand on an ill-hammered nail. When he brought his hand to his mouth with a hiss, he took a moment for a breath-check. It seemed neutral enough, but what if he was just imagining that? What if it got terrible within the next two minutes? That orange headband was suddenly halfway through the line.
“Alright Leon, we can switch,” came a voice from beside him, and Leon nearly jumped out of his skin. Gordie set his bag down and was ready to hip-check Leon out of the chair.
“Thanks but I’ve still got a few minutes left,” Leon said as he peeked at that orange headband again. “Do you have any gum?”
“I figured you’ve done your time,” Gordie chuckled. “And no, but the guys are going to get you some snacks if you want, their treat. They said to meet them at the fried cookie cart.”
“I’ll, um, I’ll finish my time here,” Leon said as he peeked around the girl in front of him. She smiled and bashfully flipped her hair, only to pout when she realized Leon was looking behind her.
“I already said you could go,” Gordie said as his brow furrowed. “You’ve been here forever, aren’t you tired of it? Doesn’t your face hurt from kissing people?”
“Just wait a little longer,” Leon muttered, and he offered a kiss on the cheek to the girl who was so patiently waiting through their conversation. That seemed to satiate her pout.
“Dude, no, I’m already here,” Gordie huffed. “I missed out on an elephant ear to save you from this.”
“I’ll buy you one,” Leon hissed out of the corner of his mouth. When Leon’s eyes scanned the line for that orange headband, Gordie’s eyes followed. A sly smirk inched onto his face and he stood back with crossed arms.
“Do my math homework for me.”
“What?” Leon huffed.
“For the next two weeks, and I’ll come back after that girl in the blue sweater.”
That girl in the blue sweater was exactly one person behind the guy in the orange headband.
“Fine, whatever,” Leon hissed. “Get out of here, come back later.”
“You’re such a giver,” Gordie teased as he clapped Leon on the shoulder. “Happy to see that the kissing booth is such a charitable idea, with such a charitable man at the helm.”
“Okay, ha ha, I get it, go away,” Leon muttered. That orange headband was getting within hearing range. Gordie thought he was funny, so he needed to scram before trying to make a joke that revealed way too much to this line of girls and one guy.
Gordie finally left after trying to make a group of girls laugh, and Leon readjusted himself in his chair. Had he been slouching this whole time? Had his hoodie collar always been this tight? He should have asked Gordie if he had anything in his teeth. He cleared his throat a few times and offered an awkward smile to the next girl in line. After a cheek kiss to her and her friends, some small talk, it was then that the yearbook group was close enough to hear over the bustling fair around them.
Nothing unusual, they were just talking about carnival games and editing software.
Had his tongue always felt so weird in his mouth? Was he sitting too straight? Leon adjusted himself to try and look as calm and casual as possible, but when he leaned back, the chair pushed into the dirt and he nearly toppled backwards.
“Are you okay?” the girl in line asked.
She was pouting her lips in worry, but Leon didn’t take the time to admire the perfect pink sheen when his eyes darted a few people behind her. He was still talking with the yearbook girls about editing software, and didn’t seem to notice. Leon tucked his hair behind his ear and let out an awkward chuckle.
“Yeah, sorry,” he said with a breathy laugh. “So many beautiful girls around makes it hard to focus.”
The girl batted her lashes and put a few extra dollars into the donation jar, and Leon gave her a kiss on the cheek, then one to her friend after her. They left with pink-tinged faces and giggles, and the yearbook group came up. As Leon offered friendly small talk, he wondered how his smile looked, how his laugh sounded, when one of them made a joke. He didn’t actually hear what she said, though, because of how hard his heart was pounding in his ears and how his focus was trained on keeping his eyes from straying up to the electric blue that was boring into him.
He gave a kiss on the cheek to one, then the rest, and Leon wondered how young the youngest person to have a heart attack was.
He finally forced himself to glance up when the girls left and the person next in line didn’t follow. He didn’t think about his heart anymore (though it certainly kicked once, then twice), because it was then that the next in line ducked under the banner of the kissing booth, set his elbows on the tabletop, and Leon’s only focus was on how Raihan was now only a nose bump away.
“Hey,” Raihan said with that crooked grin.
That was the smile Leon was hoping wouldn’t show up, because that smile meant danger and an even faster heart rate. He was hoping that he could give a friendly, maybe even goofy, kiss on the cheek, and Raihan would be on his merry way with his yearbook friends. And yet, here he was, watching Raihan watch him with that devilish glint in his eyes.
“Hi,” Leon said nonchalantly. He didn’t want to risk fumbling, so he didn’t dare move his hands from his lap. “Not leaving with your friends?”
“I waited in line too, I want a kiss from Leon,” Raihan said quietly. Leon’s stomach flipped at how that sentence sounded coming out of Raihan’s mouth. “What do I get for ten dollars?”
Leon ignored how his toes curled and tried to offer his most indifferent scoff.
“You’re going to waste ten dollars on a stupid kissing booth?”
And Raihan leaned closer, even tilted his head, as his eyes fluttered to Leon’s lips.
“If it’s got you in it.”
Leon’s face was flaring red, he knew it, and he glanced to the side and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear. His clammy hands snagged on a few hairs by his ear, and he hoped Raihan didn’t notice when he didn’t bother untangling them and just tugged them out when he set his hand in his lap again.
“It’s all the same,” Leon muttered. “One kiss.”
With all the charm of a devil, Raihan leaned closer, those hooded eyes dark and murky as he stared at Leon’s lips. Heat flared deep in Leon’s stomach at the look on Raihan’s face, since seeing it in person was unfortunately much more effective than fantasizing about it in his bed at night. He squirmed backward in his chair as if that would ease the intensity of the pull low in his gut. Unfortunately, that pull was full throttle when a flash of pink slid over Raihan’s bottom lip when he wet it, then a flash of a canine as he stared at Leon’s lips.
“On the cheek,” Leon clarified through a mumble.
“How about twenty dollars, then?” Raihan whispered, his gaze still latched to Leon’s lips.
“Raihan,” Leon muttered, and he had to force his own eyes to stay opened, even though Raihan’s were closing every inch closer he leaned.
“I’m willing to go the extra mile for charity,” Raihan purred. “It’s for a good cause.”
“One cheek kiss.”
“Twenty-five dollars?”
“One cheek kiss,” Leon repeated.
He turned his head, as that was the only way to get himself to stop staring at Raihan’s canine biting his lower lip. That was the perfect color, soft and full, and the back of Leon’s mind wondered how it would taste, what it would feel like on his tongue, between his teeth. How would Raihan sound if he playfully nipped that soft lower lip? Leon wondered if Raihan was thinking the same when he leaned closer.
“Thirty dollars?” he breathed.
Their trance was broken when the girl behind Raihan huffed.
“Can you hurry it up?” she whined. It didn’t seem to faze Raihan, because his eyes flit up to meet Leon’s. Leon wasn’t sure which was worse: Raihan staring at his lips, or staring into his eyes when they were so hooded and hungry.
“C’mon Leon, I need to get my money’s worth,” Raihan whispered. “The line is getting impatient.”
If Raihan was trying to get Leon to squirm, then he was unfortunately doing an incredibly good job, and Leon pursed his lips and looked to the wood of the tabletop. He could still feel Raihan’s gaze zig-zagging over his face. In his periphery he saw Raihan’s eyes drag down his frame, stare at how he squirmed in his chair. He wondered if Raihan’s gaze would have continued downward if there wasn’t this tabletop to block the view.
“I’m not…” Leon whispered as he adjusted himself in his chair. Raihan needed to stop looking at him like that and risk forcing Leon into needing to sit behind this table for a little longer, albeit for different reasons. “I’m not kissing you in front of all of these people.”
“I’m a big guy,” Raihan purred. He dared to inch closer, dared to block out everyone’s view when his finger ghosted under Leon’s chin. “They can’t see.”
Leon’s eyelids fluttered despite himself as that pull deep in his stomach became unbearable. This smug attitude was driving him insane, and concurrently driving forward every secret desire and craving Leon had been trying so hard to shove away. The heat of Raihan’s breath was grazing over his lips, and those electric blue eyes were closing. When the girl behind Raihan sighed again, Leon jerked his head back.
When Leon couldn’t manage more than a incoherent grumble out of his throat, Raihan finally took pity and leaned back. He tucked a ten-dollar bill into the jar and gave an apologetic smile.
“Fine,” he said as he playfully rolled his eyes. “Guess I’ll play by the rules. One cheek kiss please.”
Leon heaved out a deep sigh, and he hoped it sounded as sarcastic as possible and not as flustered as he felt. He cupped Raihan’s face, brushed his thumb over his cheekbone, and was pleasantly surprised to see a shift in Raihan’s eyes. He pulled Raihan closer, and as softly and with as much care as he could manage, he pressed his lips to the corner of Raihan’s mouth.
His own lips tingled, and he wondered if Raihan’s did too when they both pulled back, though Leon’s formed into a cheeky smirk when Raihan’s face darkened with a blush. That smug smile was long gone and replaced with something sweet, as if Raihan couldn’t force his own smile back, though he was obviously trying.
“I guess for another ten I’ll let you do stupid carnival games with me, Leon hummed as he watched with a bemused satisfaction at how Raihan was now fumbling with his collar, with his hands, with the string of his hoodie. He nodded vigorously, and Leon let out a laugh when Raihan stood so quickly that he bumped his head on the banner. He tucked another ten into the donation jar and untangled himself from the banner with Leon’s help.
As he left with Raihan, both their shoulders bumping and their fingers awkwardly tangling together, just to quickly untangle again, Gordie passed by, discreetly gave a wink, and Leon returned with a grateful nod. Two weeks of extra math homework shouldn’t be so bad, and when Raihan’s hand brushed his again, Leon decided that perhaps the kissing booth wasn’t such a terrible idea after all.

SEARCHING - Pokémon RP, RaihanxLeon or LeonxHop, Plot with Smut/Romance, [NSFW]
Greetings,
Glad to find you, friend! I’m currently searching for a roleplay partner for the pairing of RaihanxLeon or LeonxHop (aged up) over Discord. I have no preference for who I play as. I have about 15 years of roleplaying experience under my belt, and I always try to match my partner. Typically, I post between three to five paragraphs per reply. I enjoy chatting with my partner outside of the roleplay, and I like to think I’m friendly and creative. I love coming up with fun plots/plot points for our characters to experience! I’m also online frequently, as my job requires me to do freelance work from home.
In terms of what I think would be fun for this pairing, I would love to send Leon and Raihan/Leon and Hop on an adventure through Galar or other region. A more domestic adventure could be fun, too! AUs are another possibility! For the plot, I have a couple of ideas, but we can discuss the details on Discord. I'm open to hearing your plot ideas, of course. Please understand that I want this roleplay to focus on the intricacies of their relationship. I have little to no limits and love to push my characters in every sense of the word. However, I will always respect my partner’s limits.
If what I've said sounds appealing to you, please drop by my Discord: Fluffy#2556
