thought i’d bring this fic/art for ‘understanding may outweigh the surgeons knife’ back in honour of the first day of @jolyweek , cane and first meetings, as this fic deals with both!

summary:
As a kid, it had been more of a germaphobe thing, what with the frequent washing up and the hesitance to shake hands; he hadn't quite turned into the embodiment of WebMD yet, always spouting the worst case scenarios when confronted with even the least consequential of symptoms. Then, the ringing in his ear started.
y’all ever think about the time in the musain when enjolras, combeferre, and courfeyrac were analyzing a document together and after combeferre finished talking courf grabbed the paper from it, made a speech about how it was garbage, then literally threw it in the fireplace
Okay so wow this is my first proper tumblr post and ofc it's going to be about Les Mis. So I went to see the musical at the Sondheim Theatre (Bradley Jaden as Javert, Jon Robyns as Valjean, Ashley Gilmour as Enjolras and Carrie Hope Fletcher as Fantine) and I cried like the whole way through. I managed to meet most of the cast at the stage door and got hugs and my programme signed (which made me cry more) and it was pretty much the best experience of my life. Cuz I've seen other people do it, I wanted to share the things that happened during the run. *I am pretty new to the fandom and aren't familiar with any version except from the 2012 musical and the 1985 soundtrack, so if any of these are common tropes bear with me, I'm still learning* :) ~
• after Fantine became a prostitute her first customer was the foreman, which was pretty disgusting and made me cringe
• during his v angsty solo in 'Drink With Me', Grantaire flips out and Enjolras tried to comfort him but got pushed away. Grantaire moved to the side of the stage and Gavroche ran over to hug him from behind and it was just v pure. Also they were asleep next to each other during 'Bring Him Home'.
• when Gavroche snaked Javert out as being a spy he stuck his middle finger up at him.
• in literally every scene Grantaire was either looking at or standing next to Enjolras and I think that's very sexy of him.
• I was v pleased to note that my son Jehan was wearing a floral vest and looked absolutely babey.
• during the fall of the barricade the stage went dark and they put spotlights on each person as they died. at first it was slow and then it sped up the more people fell so the whole stage was lit up until Enj and Grantaire died.
• everytime the barricade got hit Enjolras called out to Grantaire to make sure he was okay.
• Gavroche almost got back safely but got shot on the top of the barricade and fell into Enjolras's arms, who carried him down to Grantaire.
• they put Enjolras's body in a cart and he was splayed out with the flag underneath him. They just dumped Gavroche on top of him and moved along.
• during Javert's suicide they somehow managed to change the perspective from being front on to look at him falling into the water from above and it was so seamless I have no idea how they did it?? Like he was standing on a barrier and then all of a sudden he was falling and the barrier was gone and it was s o s m o o t h ! ! !
• that's all I can remember right now. It was absolutely amazing and lemme tell you, Enjolras was a great hugger!! He also kind of did this weird wavey gesture from the stage to me at the end when they were taking their bows (and I hate to be one of those people who are like 'omg in a room full of people they looked at me!!!' but I can be pretty sure cuz I was in the 3rd row and had nobody in front of me. Cosette also said she saw me crying which was just great). So yeah. Everyone was absolutely amazing, Marius was significantly less annoying, Cosette and Eponine were incredible and I loved the whole cast. It was the best thing I've ever gone to see and I wish I could relive it all over again.
