I‘m gonna say it: the trials of apollo books are underrated and apollo/lester as a character is underrated. the growth we see him going through is beautiful especially when he interacts with his children because he used to be so irresponsible about them, but actually loves them a lot and learns that there are so many things the gods need to do better. we also get to see his greatest insecurities and worries like that he still blames himself for hyacinthus and daphne and can‘t forgive himself for what he has done in the past.

Apollo would do a lot for someone he loves. Honestly, he would be willing to risk his life for his love. Granted, immortals can’t die, but he would willingly put himself in danger if it meant saving them from harm. Even now, as Lester Papadopoulus, he wouldn’t hesitate to give his now mortal life for his love.

The only drawing line though is that he would never betray his sister. Artemis is his twin; his other half. Even if you are the love of his life or his one true love, he would never agree to harming Artemis in any way. In fact, if he knew his love was planning on hurting Artemis… Well…

That’ll be just another tragedy for Apollo to add to his love history.

Everyone thinks Apollo falls in love with every pretty face he sees. Well, those people are w r o n g.

Apollo can be attracted to a person easily - pretty faces; pretty talents; they are his weaknesses. But falling in love? That’s a more serious conversation.

When he was a younger god, yes - love was something he found in nearly every handsome and beautiful face he saw during his walks among the mortals. But now? Love is, well,more of a cautionary thing.

He’s had his heart broken countless times over the centuries. Even more, he has lost those he had loved in tragedies. He knows what heartbreak is like; he is very familiar with it, and, frankly, he does not like it.

So nowadays, he’s rather careful when it comes to love. The occasional fling here and there; the rare puppy-like crush over there; those he has experienced aplenty in the 21st century - and that’s where most of his children have spawned from recently. But love? He treads carefully, especially when it finds him.

If he falls in love, he’d want to push that person away from him. The last thing he wants is to be the reason why that person is dead. But, if said person feels the same way and persists on a relationship with Apollo…

He’ll be cautious (and a little afraid), but he will love them with every piece of his being. And he will protect them with his life.

Threesomes? Sure. So long as everyone agrees to it.

Polyamorous relationship? Yeah. But it’s less on the “everyone consents to it” and more on the “He’s a god and he has a bad habit of dating more than one person because he can scatter himself in a million different places at once”.

He’s a god. It’s complicated. How else does he have a good number of demigod children who are roughly within the same age range in Camp Half-Blood?

It doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love you as much as the next person. But it tends to happen and trust me when I say that he already feels guilty about it on his own.
