like, when they get together or at least when one of them confessed their love, it’s going to take place in a bathroom

there’s like this on-going symbolism in the entirety of the show where bathrooms represent a place where secrets are revealed or personas are dropped. it’s like the epitome of privacy right

at first i thought it was only in relation to what steve was doing but then i realized it kinda happens to all the characters so here are some examples of this very thing happening:

-steve and nancy making out in the bathroom after she tells barb they “aren’t like that”

-joyce finding the lawyers information while lonnie is in the shower that she kicks him out over

-nancy sobbing in the Holland’s bathroom

-will coughing up the slugs in the sink

-will finding D’Art in the bathroom stall and dustin hiding him

Touma and Taichi holding hands in Ao no Flag is a recurring motif that appears in chapters 17, 42, 48, and 54. As elaborated on later in the series, in elementary school they used to hold hands all the time because the world was less scary together and it was comforting to have a friend along for their adventures. But somewhere along the way Touma feels the pressure of the double standard of gendered expectations that holding hands is a "girl thing". The childhood comfort of holding hands is paralleled in the hospital scene when Touma asks to hold Taichi's hand because he's scared. Watching the baseball game Touma confronts the reality that his baseball dream is over, his dream career will never happen because he got hit by a car pushing Taichi out of the way. The game is in the 9th inning and their school is losing, because Touma couldn't play. Touma is watching his dreams die and Taichi knows this, Taichi still blames himself for Touma's injury, and what can he do but offer his hand; and that's enough for Touma feeling that Taichi is there and safe.

In the flashback in chapter 48 we see Taichi reaching out for Touma's hand when they run away together following the death of Touma's parents and both brothers struggling to cope with the loss of their parents. In chapter 54 this act of reaching out and holding hand is how the manga reveals that Touma is Taichi's husband. Chapter 48 which is from Touma's perspective foreshadows that he is the POV character for the final chapter. Both chapters heavily parallel each other. In both chapters we literally see the world through Touma's eyes; we never see his face, reactions, nor do we hear what he says, all we see and hear are the people around him. In the key scene in both chapter, Taichi reaches out to Touma and takes his hand. While chapter 17 in the hospital represents a tumultuous time in their relationship with them trying to rekindle their friendship after years of Taichi distancing himself because he feels unworthy, chapters 48 and 54 show some if not the strongest points in their relationship. In the last chapter Taichi reaches across panels, breaking the bounds of the comic medium to connect with Touma.

He sunk a yacht that wasn’t his and then showed no remorse/played it off as a joke

Doesn’t try hard at a very prestigious, hard to get into school, including at the newspaper (a position that people would kill for that he didn’t actually earn and treated more as an annoyance than an incredible opportunity)

Wasted tons of money on stupid, risky life and death brigade stunts

Belittled Marty and made fun of him for being a waiter. Once asked to stop, he refused and said that he could treat Marty however he wanted because he worked for him, as if Marty isn’t a human being deserving of respect

Completely embarrassed Rory in front of her class and professor when Rory was trying to be a good role model for a high schooler she was showing around Yale. Also did not apologize, only made it seem as if she was overreacting.

Downplayed/made fun of Jess for writing a book

Stole something from Emily and Richard as a prank and willingly sat by and was going to allow the maid to take the blame and get fired for it

Helped his girlfriend steal a yacht instead of talking to her about why she was upset

Allowed Rory to plan a whole trip to Asia and be excited about it knowing full well that they weren’t going on it because he was keeping something from her

Cheated on his fiancé

Proposed to his girlfriend at her own graduation party, basically trying to peer pressure her into saying yes

Broke up with said girlfriend because she wouldn’t marry him, even though they had a talk about ‘factoring each other’ into their career choices

Slept with a bunch of his sister’s friends right after he and his girlfriend had a fight (yes, he may have thought it was a breakup but he should have confirmed with her first. Also, regardless if they were broken up or not this was a shitty thing to do)

But broken bones that don't heal right? Even better. Whumpees' with broken ribs, whose bones twist in the wrong way, curving in and out at the wrong angles, making every breath beyond painful. Every slight movement serves as a reminder of Whumper and the control they have over Whumpee. Whumpees' with fingers who have been crushed one too many times. Maybe they constantly tried to attack Whumper and after the last attempt, Whumper refused to set the broken fingers. Broken legs that leave Whumpee with a limp and no way to escape. It's one of the versions of: "You're going to regret that" that has lasting torment for Whumpee.

Himiko: Ultimate Clairvoyant

Himiko while still a magician-type, now specializes in telling fortunes, an act she's very good at. She insists it's all magic, and often has strange somewhat prophetic dreams, though she's kinda bad at figuring out what they're actually prophesying

Angie: Ultimate Gambler

With Atua in her ear, Angie has yet to lose a bet. With a penchant for riskier gambling and more unique kinds of bets that often have no monetary component to them. She's just having a lot of fun.

Shuichi: Ultimate Affluent Prodigy

Born into a family who to decide the heir one of the many children must solve an incredibly complicated scenario. Shuichi half lucking into it by overhearing other competitors and half his deduction skills, solves this scenario despite being too young to actually compete, not fully realizing what it meant to solve it. So now he's very stressed always and feels like he only won out of pure luck and by stealing his sibling's work and doesn't deserve this.

Seiko: Ultimate Biker Gang Leader

I still have no good reason for this one besides gay gay homosexual I'm going to be honest. Biker girl who's kinda anxious and stops fleeing from the cops to get a cat out of a tree, I love her.

Sonosuke: Ultimate Baseball Star

Once again I don't have a good reason for this one besides the fact SOMEONE had to be the baseball star, and I felt his personality and skill with weapons could translate well to a bat.

Chiaki: Ultimate Fanfic Creator

While still a huge gamer Chiaki got noticed for writing novel long fix it fics and strange crossovers that worked perfectly. She is well known for her hurt/comfort, fluff, and sprawling worldbuilding to fill in all the gaps of whatever game got her attention. Sometimes she dabbles in horror or angst, just to experiment, but they aren't her favorite genres to write.

Fuyuhiko: Ultimate Martial Artist

While still a Yakuza member, he got scouted for his immense gift at martial arts that was discovered when he was learning self defense, because Yakuza. Fuyuhiko has always had a rather strict moral code as well, which fits well with a Martial Artist. Likely specializes in using enemies momentum against them.

Ryoma: Ultimate Soldier

Ryoma got dragged into war at a young age, as there was a gang war in his town that he got pulled into after one killed his cat, thinking it was the cat of the other gang. From there, life kept pulling him along into deeper and deeper conflicts, before eventually, he got pulled into a very literal war while on a trip. From there he vanished and went off the grid, and when he was found again, he had become the stoic Ultimate Soldier

Mahiru: Ultimate Lucky Student

I see her as having a generalized bad luck aura, but when she super focuses on something its like her luck goes into bullet time and suddenly gets super precise and rather good

Kotoko: Ultimate Idol

Drama and Idol is pretty similar I feel, Kotoko is planning to use Hope's Peak to escape her idol career that she feels trapped in. Only to find herself trapped within a death game but honestly she's kinda okay with staying here that's certainly one way to destroy her career.

Gundham: The Ultimate Writing Prodigy

With a specialization of writing animal themed fantasy adventure books, Gundham has basically taken over the YA fiction scene. He got his start from roleplaying on some animal forum, where he was encouraged to write a book because he had some very good prose. Thus launching a huge literary career.

Akane: Ultimate Swimmer

A mixture of poverty and a terrible environment pushed Akane to extremes to survive. When she noticed a river known for dangerous currents by her house had fish in it, she taught herself to swim and navigate those currents to catch the fish for her family, gathering a lot of attention.

Celeste: Ultimate Fashionista

Making her own gothic outfits, Celeste burst into the fashion scene and very quickly got a lot of attention, soon being able to launch her own brand and lead the gothic lolita scene. Very demanding and terrible to work with though.

Toko: Ultimate Programmer

When no person would be her friend let alone date her, she turned to the one thing she could make be her friend, a computer program. In her determination to program the perfect boyfriend, she devoted hours and hours to it, accidentally advancing AI research by decades as she tried to figure out why even the programs she made, refused to date her.

Sakura: Ultimate Moral Compass

Sakura always had a very strong well, moral compass, so she quickly found her place helping others with school work, and staying on top of things. Very kind and considerate, and will help you whenever there's a problem

Kirigiri: Ultimate Analyst

Let's be real she kinda already was this in a way. Her eye for detail and cause and effect was legendary and overshadowed her detective career, and now she uses that eye for detail to destroy her father's career and go deep undercover. Kept from getting bored by sheer spite for her father and a deep curiosity about the world around her.

Junko: Ultimate Detective

Junko loves despair, we been knew, and I can't think of anything more despairful then fucked up crime scenes. This girl specializes in the most fucked up cases, you find a toddlers head in a freezer? You call Junko in. She revels in the gore and despair and horror, really enjoying getting to stretch her mental muscles to figure out just how a crime scene came to be. While also taking notes on what gets people caught for her own crimes she's planning.

Autism Headcanons

I really like headcanoning characters as autistic, because often autistic people written by nt people are stereotypes (with the exception of Sherlock holmes) so seeing characters who unintentionally relatable to autistics is so important! I have a lot of reasons why I hc Walt Strickler and Newt Scamander as autistic, but maybe I'm just projecting. But look at the concepts! (Some of these may be Canon. Shh let me infodump)

Edward (Edward Scissorhands): Isolated man-made sweetheart with scissors for hands who is incredibly gentle but doesn't understand Society™️. He moves robotically, is mainly nonverbal, doesnt understand common social rules, such as the "if you found a briefcase full of money, what would you do?" Since Autistic people like me need very good reasons to follow rules, and Edward doesnt understand how giving your loved ones found money is "wrong". He uses his "disability" to channel his creativity in his gardening, hedge-trimming, and haircutting. But he was willing to give it all up just to fit in! I have seen many emotional movies, but this is truly the only one thst made me sob out loud, because of how much i could relate. Hes ME. also Tim Burton himself is at least speculated to be on the spectrum, and many see the movie as a whole as an allegory for autism. This doesnt mean that i believe the scissors THEMSELVES are a symbol for autism, because even if edward didnt have them he still exhibits very autistic traits.

Sherlock Holmes: genius detective who's neutral good, physically fights pedos, drinks respect women juice, gay-asexual, and does Crack in his spare time. At the time, nobody knew what autism was! But sherlock is so clearly autism-coded its hard to ignore. Im talking about every adaptation Ever. My first exposure to Sherlock Holmes was the BBC series (granted, i know its not necessarily the most well-written adaptation, but listen) and i was SHOOK at how autistic he was. Even in the novels hes percieved as keeping his things cluttered, but he has a purpose in his clutter, and organizes his thoughts. He goes off on tangents before going back to his original point. Basil of Baker Street, basically Sherlock Holmes in Disneys the Great Mouse Detective, VISIBLY STIMS ONSCREEN. anyway nobody needed convincing on that one but yeah.

Newt Scamander (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them): kind, soft wizard who keeps magical creatures in a briefcase. He's soft-spoken, drops eye-content mid conversation, and PURSUES A LIFE OF CONSERVING MAGICAL CREATURES. HES THE ONLY ONE OF HIS PROFESSION IN THE WORLD. ITS ALL RIGHT THERE.

Fiver (Watership Down): a runty, anxious rabbit with the power of prophecy. the theory of Fiver being autistic isnt originally mine (look through my reblogs) but i fully accept it. Now, its debatable whether autism is a Thing among animals or if it presents itself another way, but then again this is fiction. Where to begin with Fiver? Hes based off the Greek Myth of Cassandra, who was blessed with divination but cursed to never be believed. Growing Up With Autism. I cant explain it but you Autistic readers will understand. And simply look at his character!

Erik Destler (the Phantom of the Opera, Phantom): disfigured savant, expert illusionist, lives in the basement of an opera house. In Phantom by Susan Kay he's portrayed as a savant, and while not all savants are born that way, one out of ten autistics are also autistic savant. His hyperfixation on the macabre, his immense creative drive, its all there knock yourselves out.

Walt Strickler: a devious shapeshifting idiot with genius energy, who drops sick dad jokes, huge history nerd, a minority in his own country while at the same time belonging to no country. This might be just me projecting but I thought it was genius. There's also the widely accepted history theory that the Changeling Myth was based off early perceptions of Autism, and whether this suggests that all the Changelings in ToA are autistic is, I believe, false, since in Trollhunters, changelings are made, but autists are Born, not Made. But Strickler is by far my favorite to fixate on! He's such a good concept as an autistic character because he doesn't fall into the stereotypes that intentionally-written autists do. He's sassy, sarcastic, and is simply UNBEARABLE with puns. I view his Villainous Actions™️ of clicking the pen and sitting on tables as stimming or autistic habits, and his odd collection of books. Despite him not being human himself, he has a WILD fascination with human history and culture, which is a better hyperfixation for an autistic character than He Likes Trains and Math. Strickler also has the general Vibe of someone who's constantly holding back from going completely Feral and Rabid. Absolute autism energy
