this moment from “The Empath” makes me want to bite glass every time i watch it
[Video Description: A short clip from the Star Trek episode “The Empath”. There is no dialogue. Bones hesitates before walking away from Spock. Spock slowly sits down next to an unconscious Kirk, looking at him as he does so. The Empath, who has started to follow Bones, stops and looks at Spock. She appears intrigued, curious. Her and Spock make eye contact before Spock quickly turns away, looking down at his device. The Empath makes her way to Spock and places her hand on his shoulder. Once she does, he snaps his head up, alert. There is a zoom in on The Empath’s face as very sweet, lovely piece of orchestral music plays. The Empath smiles. End clip.]
i need to see the ghost quartet, is the youtube recording okay or where can i watch it?
edith, you have no idea how happy i am right now. MUST WRITE AN ESSAY-
ok, so there is like an official record of the show on dave malloy's youtube channel (he is an angel for doing this), but i would suggest to listen to it first, because the video is without subtitles and when i started watching, it was kinda hard for me to understand anything and the story is really complicated.
and there are also two cast albums: one is the official studio album and one is a live recording of the show and i would suggest to listen to the live album, because it has some songs/scenes that you can't find on studio album and they are really important to the story. you can find both on spotify, the lyrics are also available. you can also find all the lyrics on genius, there are a lot of dave's annotations, they really helped me understand some of the parts i didn't get.
basically what i did: i just listened to the live album with lyrics, once, twice, after third time i finally decided to watch the show on youtube. you might not get it after first listen, honestly, every single time i listen to it again i find something new. but as you start connecting the dots between the stories, the real fun begins (and i know you will cause you did amazing with my escape room!). it's insane, it will destroy your brain. i remember after listening to it for the first time i texted bel: "i just listened to ghost quartet and i want to throw up cause my brain exploded". it's good. it's amazing. but it's weird, keep that in mind.
let me know after. or better: come back with one pot of honey, one piece of stardust, one secret baptism and the photo of a ghost.
You ever realize that you maybe know two whole people who haven't been in a romantic relationship of some kind before and it makes you want to melt into the floor and die?
so in that one scene where house is rocking out to the who on his ipod and vogler comes in and turns off the speaker, when he turns it back on hava nagila is playing. why does he have this on his ipod? easy. he djs for all of wilson's weddings. next question.
a few days ago spanish newspaper el país published an article titled '25 songs that should be erased from rock or pop history' where they asked a bunch of music journalists to each pick a popular song that they dont like. and okay, this type of articles are obviously made to create controversy and i shouldnt fall for the provocation. BUT I DID. because yeah some of them were overplayed or overrated songs, i wouldnt mind not listening to lennon's imagine ever again, and everyone's entitled to their opinion. BUT. but. one of those so called journalists chose Bohemian Rhapsody.
HE PICKED BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY AS A SONG HE WOULD ERASE FROM ROCK'S HISTORY
(translation under the picture)
"OK, Freddie Mercury was a great frontman and vocalist, that's beyond doubt; but musically, Queen's contributions to rock history have been more pernicious than positive. Bohemian Rhapsody, their most iconic song, is a pretentious, operatic rock hassle, and a demonstration that the path of excess does not always lead to the palace of wisdom. It is grotesque, camp and, at the same time, grandiloquent. Pure onanistic artifice without any content. But the worst is what came after: dozens of even heavier imitators (Muse, My Chemical Romance, etc.), tribute bands everywhere, musical theatre extravaganzas and legions of fans who, looking at you with a superior, quizzical look, identify Queen with the epitome of good music".
CONGRATULATIONS BUDDY EVERY WORD YOU JUST SAID IS WRONG
me: well let me tell you about how mcu!thor's core trait is his love and that includes love for his people, love for his homeland/home planet, love for his family and his brother in particular, love for the nine realms and earth in particular, and how that all boils down into love for jane— who's the most human of humans to him; who taught him how to be human too — so of course in the film where we're introduced to the mcu depiction of thor, his story is quintessentially a love story in both hope (jane) and tragedy (loki) and how those two things constantly conflict and contradict one another, and leave thor stranded in the middle because he loves both so dearly; patrick doyle crafted a beautiful OST featuring STRINGS and PIANO instead of just drums and horns because thor is strong and heroic, yes, he is, in fact, a hero but he's a beautiful hero because of his love because he is SOFT and it's reflected in the strings in both of his themes and—
