If your only argument for shipping Arthur and John is “well they’re not real” stay the hell away from me.
I’m not even going to get into why IT IS incest. But here’s my take nonetheless:
Shipping incestuous relationships, even among fictional characters, is ethically problematic. It normalizes taboo behaviors and can distort perceptions of healthy relationships. Incest is universally recognized as harmful due to the potential for exploitation, abuse, and genetic risks. Romanticizing such relationships in fiction risks trivializing these serious issues. Choosing to ship incestuous relationships, even in fiction, perpetuates a harmful misconception and undermines the effort to cultivate a respectful and understanding narrative.
Misinterpreting a familial bond between characters raised as siblings as romantic chemistry reflects a misunderstanding of a healthy adult relationship.
It's important to be able to distinguish between different types of relationships. Such as recognizing the boundaries between familial love and romantic love. When people romanticize these sibling-like relationships, it blurs these distinctions. And it creates misconceptions about appropriate relationship dynamics.
This misinterpretation underscores the need for highlighting the role of media literacy in appreciating diverse human connections. Portraying and perceiving these characters' relationship as romantic undermines the value of familial bonds and may foster unrealistic expectations in adult relationships. It's crucial for audiences to acknowledge and respect the various meaningful connections that extend beyond romantic narratives.
I’m sorry if this reads like an essay, but as someone who’s taken media literacy classes in college and grown up in the Superwholock fandom, I have a lot to say on this topic. Engaging with fandoms and media since a very young age has deepened my understanding of how narratives influence societal norms and personal perceptions. It’s fascinating yet concerning to witness how certain portrayals in media can impact a fans interpretations and behaviors.
I want this to be open for discussion, because I think it’s important to promote a healthy and thoughtful consumption of media. As well as contribute to healthier representations and relationships in media and storytelling.
That’s it, goodnight, sleep tight, and be kind.

Astrid Haters???
Ok, can someone please explain to me why is it that whenever Astrid isn't Hiccup's romantic love interest, they make her insufferable or a bitch?
Like, have you ever watched HTTYD, at all???
And I've done some digging and the only thing I could find about it, like the reason behind the unrelenting bashing, is the fact that she advocated for Hiccup to let go of Toothless in the 3rd movie? But, like... Did you even watch the movie??? Or did the whole point just fly over your head?
Okay, yeah, no one wanted Toothless and the other dragons to go, but it was a pretty satisfying ending to a decade long franchise. At least, I thought so...
Please comment and explain this to me, if you can, or share your opinions and experiences?

Do you guys want a long ass analysis? Well, I made one anyways :)
How did Draco’s wand work for Harry? First and foremost, we have to look at each of the properties of the wands, for then you’ll be able to understand Draco’s wand and why it helped Harry defeat Voldemort in the final battle. The wand of Draco Malfoy is 10" precisely, reasonably flexible, Hawthorn wood and with a unicorn hair core.
Let’s take a look at what Ollivander has to say about hawthorn wands:
The wandmaker Gregorovitch wrote that hawthorn ‘makes a strange, contradictory wand, as full of paradoxes as the tree that gave it birth, whose leaves and blossoms heal, and yet whose cut branches smell of death.’ While I disagree with many of Gregorovitch’s conclusions, we concur about hawthorn wands, which are complex and intriguing in their natures, just like the owners who best suit them. Hawthorn wands may be particularly suited to healing magic, but they are also adept at curses, and I have generally observed that the hawthorn wand seems most at home with a conflicted nature, or with a witch or wizard passing through a period of turmoil. Hawthorn is not easy to master, however, and I would only ever consider placing a hawthorn wand in the hands of a witch or wizard of proven talent, or the consequences might be dangerous. Hawthorn wands have a notable peculiarity: their spells can, when badly handled, backfire.
I think Draco’s whole storyline is there lol.
So, a Hawthorn wand is not easy to master.
Length and flexibility:
Ollivander wrote, about the length: “longer wands might suit taller wizards, but they tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic”. Draco is 10” showing how his magic is more introspective and he is more guarded, closed off.
He also wrote, about the flexibility: “denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair”. Draco’s wand is reasonably flexible. Which could mean it’s consistent, but if forced, adaptable. So again, it’s not in its nature to just accept changing allegiances. It will fight until the end not to be mastered.
So both its wood and its flexibility are huge indicators of how hard it would be for his wand to be mastered and change loyalties.
The core:
The core is an even more complex aspect of wands. While the wood represents the wizard’s nature as a person (their body and heart), the core represents the nature of their magic. It’s in the way they use it. Now let’s take a look at Ollivander’s comments on Unicorn hair, Draco’s wand core:
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing. It’s also the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts, and that is a clear sign that Draco was never a dark wizard by nature, he didn’t want to be dark. He wasn’t dark, otherwise this wand wouldn’t have chosen him in the first place.
And last, but definitely not least, they are the most faithful, and tend to remain attached to their first owner.
All the aspects in Draco’s wand are adamant to it being difficult to master and even harder to change allegiances. It would fight until the end to work only for its master, and the hair could even die from it.
So why did it change masters that easily, then?
Here’s my theory:
Love
Love is always the answer in this series. Lily’s, Narcissa’s, Snape’s, Harry’s. And Draco’s, I would say, is just as meaningful. It matters just as much in the final battle. It was the reason Harry won in the first place.
He trusted Harry with his heart and soul.
I will never accept the Hawthorn wand changed allegiances, because we have proof it didn’t have any reason to, and it’s not in its nature to just do it.
He never lost the wand’s loyalty completely, he just shared it with Harry.
Drarry is canon ❤️💚

So how do ya'll feel about Gwen's relationship with her dad being a reflection of her own arc with Miles?
Tumblr media
As in, Gwen begins the story with the ultimate betrayal when her father chooses an oppressive institution over someone he cares about - his own daughter
Because he is blinded by ignorance and the idea that 'he's doing good' despite being clearly weaponized towards those he cares about.
And then Gwen experiences the same thing when she finds herself choosing the Society and it's control over the multiverse over Miles - someone she cares deeply about.
And how her journey and reconnection with her father is all centered around how now institution or entity is worth sacrificing who you are and who you love
and that by leaving the force and the Spider society and choosing to act against their wishes is their first step to healing their relationship with those that they've hurt with their complacency
For Officer Stacy, that being Gwen. And for Gwen, that being Miles?
Is it that Gwen falls into the same faults as her father - like allowing an institution to dictate her sense of right and wrong, or betraying those she cares about ‘for the better good’? Do you think growing up with a cop as a father influenced her decision-making in ATSV, even in subtle ways?
How do ya'll feel about that? Genuine question. Let’s discuss

Kind of the opposite of veganism
Alright, who wants to discuss this idea I just had and decided on a name for after a 30 second conversation with a guy on discord: DolorLenio
It translates from Latin into "PainReliever" but it will make more sense once you finish reading.
It is in almost every way the opposite of veganism. You can only eat something if it is dead, so mostly meat. Flour and flour based foods are relatively ok. Cooked plant is skirting the line, but eating raw plants or live animals is a sin. The idea is that since plants have a chemical nervous system that they can use to react to the environment, and most of the time plants are alive when you eat them, then it must be torture to the plants that are being eaten and it is therefore morally wrong. Dead creatures can no longer feel, and it is therefore ok to eat them, as they will endure no more suffering from their consumption. Fruits are an acception to the rule because they evolved to be eaten so plants could reproduce, but besides that, no living creatures. That's the rough idea. I don't know where beans would fall on the spectrum but I will let you guys decide that. Processed food I think should be fine, since most of it isn't alive, and the stuff that is was probably experimented on.
The idea here is that it is a moral compass values suffering over life, as nature gives and takes life anyways, so you can only prevent suffering. What are your guy's thoughts?
