Jigen changed Nisei's mind about Lupin being a thief

Originally, Nisei was dead-set on Lupin becoming an honest man. He never considered his son's desires, why would he? He's his father and he knows better. Being a thief is dangerous, and he wants Lupin to be safe. The kid already suffered enough at Isei's hands.

He started considering it after he saw Lupin's First Heist - or at least understanding how important this was to Lupin, and that he couldn't make him back down. You can see it in his (Shinobu's) eyes, that he understands.

But even understanding Lupin's decision, he still tried to keep Lup away from the drama, tricking him into going to Nagano, out the bomb's range. Maybe he was starting to accept that he couldn't keep Lupin from becoming a thief one day, but he was still doing his damnedest to stop him from jumping into the action. Even after he was unmasked, he refused to give up the information Lupin needed, even pulling a gun on his son.

And then Jigen pulled a gun on Nisei, and Nisei did a 180 and offered Lupin a chance to prove himself.

Because he knew that with Jigen by his side, Lupin would be safe.

He hadn't see Jigen fight yet, I think as far as Jigen's skills go he trusted Lupin's choice - Lupin's first heist as Lupin the Third was stealing Jigen's heart, for God's sake, even Nisei can understand what that means.

He knew that Lupin had chosen Jigen, and the moment Jigen pulled a gun on him, he had confirmation that the inverse was true too. That Lupin had succeeded, that Jigen had agreed to be stolen, that by that point he would do anything to protect his partner. Jigen would have shot Nisei without hesitation if he'd done anything to threaten Lupin. And that is what changed Nisei's mind. That is what convinced him to give Lupin a chance - not give him his blessing, no fully accept his decision yet, but to give him a chance to prove himself. Because even with Lupin's skill, Nisei would only let him go if someone had his back.

"With this kid by his side, maybe my son will be safe."

Nisei may be terrible at being a father, but he genuinely cares about his son, he wants him to be safe. He went out of his way time and time again to protect him, as Phoolan in ep. 3 and as Shinobu in ep. 5. He knew he couldn't stop Lupin from pursuing his own path (he saw Lup going to Isei's contest and didn't try to stop him, he knew that Lup was installing traps in the house and didn't tear them down). He knows he can't really stop Lupin from pursuing that path, but he's trying as much as possible to delay it. To shield him from the full consequences of his choice.

"Being a thief is a two-way street. It's not just about what you acquire. Because you always lose a fair share, too."

This was what Nisei was trying to protect Lupin from, I think. Not from the physical dangers of thievery (Lup already put himself in plenty of trouble), but from the emotional damage. From losing things, people. I don't know what Nisei lost - I'm guessing Lupin's mother, but that's more a headcanon than a real theory. Nisei wanted to spare his son that pain. But with Jigen by his side, to support him, maybe Lupin is ready to handle that pain now. (And man did Lupin learn that lesson fast.)

"Consider the Walther a little farewell present from me."

Nisei's not going to be in Lupin's life anymore (not that he was ever very present, but that's another can of worms). And he's only agreeing to let Lupin go on his own, after Lupin has proven his skill, and after he's found someone to have his back. Nisei isn't going to protect Lupin anymore. He's trusting that Lupin is skilled enough to stay on top, and that if his skills ever fail him, Jigen will have his back.

He's entrusting his son's safety to Jigen.

Sorry to still be going on about this but still not over the divorce arcs' impact on the ending because

In the beginning Fang Duobing is too pushy and Li Lianhua owes him nothing. Like what, he made a throwaway statement to a kid ten years ago and now he's got to take responsibility for him? This kid runs up to him and forcibly says we're best friends now and he's supposed to go with it? No way. So it feels fair that Li Lianhua tricks and uses him relentlessly before abandoning him, because even if he enjoys Fang Duobing's company that doesn't mean he owes him shit beyond eh he's my shixiong's son gotta make sure he doesn't die. And eventually Fang Duobing gets sick of it but it doesn't feel like Li Lianhua owes him emotional vulnerability or anything just maybe an apology for the blatant manipulation because Li Lianhua has made him the opposite of promises.

But then Li Lianhua gets sick, Fang Duobing forgives him, and Li Lianhua realizes he does value this affection and understanding of his goals. So they make up, and Li Lianhua officially labels them as good friends.

But he doesn't stop tricking Fang Duobing or start letting Fang Duobing have a say in the overall plan, even if it's done with high handed affection, and he doesn't give Fang Duobing anything to work with in terms of emotional honesty. This comes to a head again despite Fang Duobing's deliberate trust with the Li Xiangyi reveal, and now way more cards are on the table and Fang Duobing is rightfully way more devastated.

This is the place where Li Lianhua could go I can't give you what you want, I don't want to owe anyone anything. I'm no one's companion. He could let Fang Duobing go. But while he's too guilty and hurt to let people close he DOES want Fang Duobing's trust and affection (as well as Fang Duobing's resources), so he draws Fang Duobing close again. Then Li Lianhua lies uses and tricks him again instead of hammering out a plan honestly together, going as far as turning himself in to break a man they just captured out instead of just discussing things and planning together.

Then the three questions, which felt so fair. But then Li Lianhua gets hurt again, Fang Duobing forgives him, and Fang Duobing says we've been truly honest what really matters, which is that we care for each other. I consider you my confidant. You don't have to tell me everything, I'll listen to you and obey. Just be healthy.

And instead of Li Lianhua saying he's tired of treatment or admitting how he actually feels and what he wants, not "oh I'm already dead" in his casual tone because what does that even mean but having an emotionally vulnerable conversation, Li Lianhua tricks him again lies to him again and abandons him again after he's served his purpose. He's unknowable not just because of others projections but because he refuses to truly incorporate anyone into his decisions or even just tell them his side. Yes it's because he cares, it's because of guilt, but how arrogant is that guilt? Because even if he's explicitly invited Fang Duobing's affection, it can only be accepted and reciprocated on his own wants, plans and terms, never any of Fang Duobing's, and never with Fang Duobing even knowing what those conditions are. And by the end, Li Lianhua did owe him more than that. He really did.

What if in modern au Spider had problems with eating like in "If you play..". And let's just assume he wouldn't want to eat when he's stressed out meeting Quaritch at the waffle shop and that motel and where he and Lyle met and on the way back to the Sullys. Would Quaritch try to get him to eat or comment on it?

Ultimately, there's not a lot that Quaritch could do. He'd be pretty powerless in this scenario because he's the very reason that Spider doesn't feel able to eat. Quaritch is a shrewd man - he'd be able to work out that he's the source of Spider's stress at the moment and from that, deduce that the kid won't eat around him.

At the waffle shop, Spider would refuse to order anything, so Quaritch would just order for him. He'd watch Spider mess with his food without eating it, and eventually suss out that the kid just wasn't feeling it.

In the motel, Quaritch would probably prepare something that he thinks would be easy for Spider to eat (eg soup) and sit him at the table. Although uncomfortable, Spider would probably cave under the pressure and slowly force himself to eat without Quaritch having to say much more than a stern word. At this point, Quaritch would probably ask Spider why he doesn't appear to eat a lot. I think Spider would be honest - he'd explain that when he's stressed he can't eat and it makes him nauseous. Quaritch would nodd while pursing his lips, deep in thought. That night he'd be researching all kinds of eating disorders trying to diagnose his son, and if they ever ended up living together he would pretty much coerce Spider into therapy/counselling.

of course! i love talking about my boys! (even tho I struggle to put my thoughts in a coherent way most of the time lmaooo)

some ramblings below

Basic run down is:

Luke get drafted to Vietnam, and through his wits and sniper skills, he gets placed into Frank's team (since he was one of the leaders of MACVSOG)

Although Luke would get on his nerves often, Frank liked having someone has honest as him. And even thought it would piss Frank off when Luke would go on his anti-military/anti-government rants, at least he knew how Luke truly felt at all times

Slowly, the two got close, Luke becoming one of Frank's right hand men alongside Alex and Joseph. The two eventually come to the conclusion that they both needed to blow off steam and ended up turning to each other for "private" meetings

Supposed to be no strings attached, but alas it didn't quite work out that way. Other marines could catch onto Frank's favoritism

Luke essentially confess first, which lead to an argument. Frank basically saying Luke should look somewhere else, that he can find someone better

Things become bitter between the two, Luke being short with Frank and Frank secretly kicking himself for it, progressing into what would be the "Crash Site" and "Payback" missions. Luke manages to escape separately, given they kept him from the other 3. He comes across Bowman's dead body and the remnants of Alex and Frank's escape

He's found by other marines and Jason Hudson, and when he learns of Alex and Frank's "deaths", he convinces Hudson to let him leave Vietnam. Hudson tries to convince him to work for the CIA, impressed by his work in Vietnam but Luke refuses.

"Bring them [Frank and Alex] back and I'll become an agent"

Before Luke leaves, he finds out that Frank at the last second officially made him part of his family so if anything happen to him, Luke would get any of his remaining belongings. I like to think that Frank probably had old military portraits that he immediately hid that Luke would gladly take as a reminder

1972 - Hudson informs Luke of Frank's survival. Luke heads to the hospital that he's located asap. Frank couldn't believe that Luke would come to see him, figured that Luke never wanted to see him again. When Frank is discharged, Luke takes him under his care.

And from there, the two come forward with their feelings. Frank is especially feeling it because no one has ever got to this degree (aside from Alex of course) to take care of him. Man is head over heels, and the two officially become an item when Frank starts feeling better

When Frank goes back into service, Luke goes with him. Neither one is happy about it, Luke for obvious reasons and Frank not wanting to put Luke in danger again, but Luke agreed he would sign on to be an agent if Hudson gave Luke closure

Luke has a son that Frank is almost always the father of (in most universes). Ideally, Jonathan happens shortly after Frank is fully recovered but I can't make up my mind on timelines lol

And of course, like I mentioned in the tags, I have a ton of aus for them. My most recent is my "hide and seek" au. Takes place in the early 90s with Luke as the "new" Ghostface and Frank a discharged marine doing vigilante detective work. When a another killer takes to the streets, Luke and Frank become unlikely allies, and then more...

Business as usual (Fanfic)

New chapter from my main series 🩷

Geppetto and Venigni were in a work meeting together. This is a very important one, all members with the highest positions in the Workshop Union are here.

Maybe it is because he is getting old but Geppetto wants this meeting to be over already, he just doesn't have the patience to deal with things like this anymore. Not the work meeting itself, but rather other coworkers he has to deal with.

Specially Conrad.

“I understand some of you might have reservations…” Conrad says while looking at him and Venigni, “ But the people of Krat still worry about another incident happening with the puppets, I believe it best that we make some counter-measurements in case someone tries to mess with them again”

Geppetto looks away for a moment but composes himself.

“I suggest we limit some of the puppets' abilities, if we make a command to instantly shut them down in case something when wrong then…”

The puppet frenzy, Geppetto knows it was all his fault, he has never confessed to it but he took public responsibility for the matter, he is the leader of the union after all.

Statistically, the harm caused specifically by puppets was low, most of them had to do with the petrification disease and the problems caused by the alchemists. It was all because of Romeo, he was the one who prevented the other puppets from doing more harm. Geppetto is thankful that Romeo was able to stop him from harming others that way.

Still, Geppetto has to live with it, the only thing he can do is make amends and do what he can to make Krat a better place. That's why he still works, as much as he would enjoy retiring a few years early and spending as much time as he can with his son he has to fix all of his mistakes.

And this is definitively not the solution, Conrad has only ever seen puppets as machines not companions to help others and he refuses to acknowledge that puppets who have awakened an Ego are sentient. Pulcinella has to be at the receiving end of his passive-aggressive remarks all the time, and Geppetto knows that the man talks badly about his son when he isn't around in the workplace.

Although puppets are supposed to obey human commands they have the choice of how to make them and they can deny requests, the only things puppets can't do are already engraved on the laws that bind them to the grand covenant and aside from Polendina and Pulcinella, as they were build before the grand covenant was established, there are no other puppets that aren't bound to it. But both of them are kind-hearted they would never do anything to harm others.

Well, there also is his son but Pinocchio is special since he isn't 100% a puppet and he is a very good boy, he loves to help others, and he would never cause any harm.

“So you don't want them to have free will?” That's what Geppetto wants to say but he has to stay professional, “I understand your concerns but-”

Geppetto is interrupted.

“Well, Geppetto let's be honest maybe you are a little biased when it comes to this subject because of your…son” Conrad has a smile on his face, “Perhaps it is best that we don't hear an emotionally filled argument”

Venigni is the one to speak up this time “If you want a logical argument, then let me give you one”

Geppetto breathes a sigh of relief, Venigni always knows what to say, and when he talks about logistics he doesn't know when to shut up, he can keep talking and talking and not tire himself out, Geppetto wonders how his friend can retain so much information, analyze it and even realize things that he would have never imagined were connected.

It takes half an hour for Venigni to stop talking, no one ever interrupts him, because if you do, you accidentally will point out something he missed and he will talk even more. Yet no one can deny his solid arguments.

“Thank you for your insights Venigni” Conrad said while gritting his teeth, “But let us decide this democratically, how about we put a vote on the matter?”

There are twelve people in this meeting counting Geppetto and Venigni, five raise their hands on the argument Corand made, while seven in the one Venigni made.

It's obvious that the man is annoyed but he lets it slide; Geppetto and Venigni know that this won't be the last time they will have to deal with this.

Technically Geppetto could fire him, but that would only stir the pot more, he and his followers could say that Geppetto is abusing his power as the Workshop Union Leader and workwise Conrad has always been an excellent worker, he goes above and beyond for it, it makes sense, everyone in that room takes their job extremely seriously, so Geppetto cannot fire him just due to his behavior, unless he does something completely uncalled for, firing him is not a good idea.

After the meeting is done, Geppetto and Venigni go to the breakroom, both making themselves a cup of coffee.

“I swear I don't understand how you drink that, it's more sugar than coffee at that point” Geppetto has never understood Venigni's obsession with adding so many things to his coffee, but it has always been this way.

“It tastes good, maybe you should try it for once, try to have fun” Venigni doesn't understand how Geppetto only drinks black coffee. “Besides who adds 12 shots of espresso to their drink?” That's a ridiculous amount, Venigni always does 4 or 5, and Geppetto goes too far in his eyes.

“Who adds cinnamon and chocolate syrup to their coffee?”

“Your son”

“Venigni that's not the win you think it is” Geppetto has banned his son from drinking coffee with his friend because the last time Pinocchio drank coffee like that it was a complete disaster.

“You asked who does it as well, I just answered your question” As Venigni says that, he sees Geppetto add yet another shot of expresso to his coffee and he stares at him.

“Don't look at me like that, that meeting was hard”

“Geppetto this is the equivalent of using drugs”

“Oh please don't exaggerate and I have never used any drugs in my life” Geppetto lied.

“I know that you used to smoke weed,” Venigni says with a smile.

“Who told you that?!” Geppetto is mortified.

“Pinocchio asked me the other day what getting high means, so I now know your little secret” Vebigni had an even wider grin on his face.

That brat! He made his son promise he wouldn't ask anyone what that means, he is getting grounded.

“But did you tell him what that means?!” Geppetto was now grabbing Venigni's shoulders.

Venigni let out a laugh, “Don't worry I didn't” When Pinocchio asked him he gracefully but swiftly changed the subject.

Gepptto let go of Venigni, “Oh thank God, don't scare me like that”

They both laughed but the playful atmosphere was cut short when Conrad entered the breakroom.

“Geppetto, Venigni” As if it couldn't be more obvious that Corand dislikes them, he doesn't even bother to give a casual hello.

“So Geppetto, that project you did all the way in London is truly something special, considering how everyone is speaking about it, hopefully, it's not too much to ask for some of the details” Conrad has a smug tone, he always thinks he is so smart.

“I'm sorry it's confidential” That's another lie, not every detail of it is confidential but Geppetto won't disclose the hard work that he, Alexander, and other members of that team did.

“Mmm, what a shame” Conrad gets closer, it looks like he is going to start forcing conversation, “Who did you leave your son with while you were gone? Was it you Venigni?”

“Pinocchio came with me” Geppetto has a bad feeling about this.

“Really? Do you take him to such things? I don't recall you ever taking Carlo anywhere” Conrad stabbed Geppetto with those words.

Geppetto takes a deep breath, he has to stop himself from punching him.

“Conrad, what do you want?” Venigni isn't going to let this man play his games.

“How rude, I thought the great Lorenzini Venigni was supposed to be charismatic”

“Again, what do you want?” Venigni doesn't have the patience for this and he won't tolerate what he said to Geppetto about Carlo, it's cruel to say something like that, to bring up someone's dead child, who does that?

“I want the two of you gone from this union” Conrad was in front of them, feeling like he had the advantage.

He actually admitted it, which was surprising, “The two of you are not fit to be members”

“After everything me and Geppetto have done for this union, what makes you say that?” That is simply a ridiculous claim, Venigni doesn't want to give himself and Geppetto all the credit because the plans they made helped the city, they set their plans in motion and worked as a team with others to achieve them, without the help of every worker in Krat human or puppet they managed to make the city prosper again in the face of such disaster, still, it took them long hours of planning to find the best ways to reconstruct the city and fix that mess, many sleepless nights and it didn't help men like Conrad only wanted to help those who have wealth and status.

“What makes me say that? The two of you should take a good look at yourselves” Conrad is feeling confident saying all of this because no one else is around, he wouldn't dare talk this way to them in public, “It's not normal for a grown man to pretend that a puppet is his son and I know that you don't see any issue with that Venigni because you had the misfortune to be raised by a puppet but to the rest of us, its clear as day that the two of you are mentally unwell”

Before either of them could say another word, other workers entered the room, and Geppetto and Venigni had to resign themselves, not being able to call him out. When their break is over, the two of them are the last ones to leave the room.

“So, how does he plan to kick you out? Did he forget that you own this building?” Geppetto couldn’t believe how ridiculous that man was being.

Venigni laughed, it really was ridiculous to try and kick both of them out. But unfortunately, they will have to deal with him at work.

But at least they made plans to see each other after work at Venigni's home.

They talked over a few drinks, maybe it was still a little too early to be drinking as it was only 6 pm but it had been a hard day, and no one likes office drama.

Geppetto eventually relented and told Venigni a few of his stories while studying for his degree, Venigni couldn't believe what he was hearing, to him who Geppetto was describing was a completely different person than the one he knew; Geppetto also spoke a bit more of the time he and his son spent in London.

“I'm glad that Pinocchio enjoyed his vacation… despite what happened” Geppetto had told Venigni about what transpired, everyone else knew as well.

Things became quiet and Geppetto took another sip of his drink.

“Venigni I… almost lost him” Geppetto has tears in his eyes, “I should have never trusted Dorian Gray, I let my guard down because I used to know him, turns out I didn’t even know what kind of person he was and my son almost died”

“Geppetto it’s not your fault” It’s hard for Venigni to see Geppetto like this, he already lost one son, he can’t imagine what it would be like to almost lose another.

“I know it isn’t but, I almost lost my life as well” Geppetto knows that Sophia did something so that he wouldn’t die, but it was hard to understand, at the moment he was filled with adrenaline and after it was all done, he couldn’t explain it but, it felt as if things played out differently.

All he can truly remember is Dorian almost killing him while saving Pinocchio.

“It made me start to think, what will happen to him when I’m gone?”

“Geppetto don’t say that” Venigni doesn’t want to think about Geppetto being gone, they have been friends for so long, Geppetto was his mentor when he first started but over time their friendship evolved.

“I don’t want to think about it, I want to believe that we can spend the years I have left together” Geppetto knows that he isn’t getting any younger, he is 60 and while Pinocchio is strong and reliable he has so much to learn about the world.

“But in case that won’t happen…”

Venigni is a man of many words yet at this moment, he feels like he can’t say anything. Because he already knows where this is going.

When, not if, eventually we all die, and Geppetto wants his son to be in good hands, with a true friend, someone he knows in his heart that he will always trust, after everything they have been through together, how could he not trust Venigni?

Venigni is that friend, they have been together in the best and in the worst of times. Venigni is still young, despite all the times his friend says that he feels like an old man when he is just 39.

Venigni wants to give Geppetto reassuring words to not think about such things, and that things will be fine. But he knows that this is a conversation that they would have had at some point or another.

“I will Geppetto, I promise you I will” There is no hesitation in his voice, Venigni loves the boy, he is family. Pinocchio is his beloved nephew, and as his uncle he will do what he must to be there for him.

It was 9 pm it's not that late but Geppetto usually doesn't stay out for long, when he entered the house, he could see that his son and Gemini were playing a board game.

“Gemini that's not a real word, it doesn't count” Pinocchio is pouting, it's not fair, Gemini keeps winning.

Gemini sighs “Pinocchio, skepticism IS a real word”

“If it's real then why is it spelled so weirdly?”

Geppetto lets out a laugh, it amuses him how his son can be stubborn like that. It looks like he is going to need to teach him a little more about language.

“Father, welcome back!” Pinocchio always greets him like that, he is so polite; he is a good boy.

Geppetto gives his son a big hug before letting go.

“Son, you are grounded”

“What?!”

After the end of YJ 1998 and years of canceled-comic limbo and the occasional guest appearance (including being among the few survivors of Grant's team that got brutally attacked), Ray ended up in another team book in 2007, Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters. This was the current incarnation of the team his dad used to be on, so it makes sense for him to be there. And the arc they gave him was to address his long-ignored relationship with his dad. A complicated issue, but one that had potential as a premise.

...they just didn't do it from Ray's POV.

The narrative presents the conflict by...not really presenting the conflict. It would have been helpful to have a recap of Ray's issues with his dad, since those hadn't been addressed since a series that ended in 1996. It would have been useful to let the audience know that what happened was that Happy arranged for his son to be raised in the dark believing that sunlight would kill him (really to prevent his powers from activating), stayed out of Ray's life and let him believe that his uncle was his father, had Ray told that his mother was dead when she was not, told his wife that their son was dead when he was not, continued with the lies and manipulation once he and Ray finally met, treated his son with contempt and harshness, refused to acknowledge that he had ever done anything wrong, and...oh by the way, there's another son thirty years Ray's senior who's been cryogenically frozen at age eight for decades because Happy couldn't handle this kid's powers.

All of that would have been good to know for an audience not already familiar with these characters.

Instead, all this narrative will disclose is that there's a rift between father and son because of something unspecified about Happy's parenting, but they're working on it! Well, Happy's working on it. He's just a kindly man who's trying to get through to his stubbornly hostile son. Oh, and he retired from hero work because it was just too stressful.

(...not true, he quit after freezing Joshua.)

Resolving the conflict isn't presented as something that Ray necessarily wants. In fact, we don't really know what exactly Ray wants here because he's oddly passive in this story. He's someone for his father to familially pine after and not much more. The active player in this tale, the one who is presented with more sympathy, is Happy. Which is baffling because...he's not even the one who's on the eponymous team of this book.

Here we have Happy (with Ray's red hair for some reason?) trying to connect with Ray like a Good Dad™, pointedly and poignantly adding that he has no right to be worried but is anyway, right before getting told that Ray is in serious trouble and needs his help!

So the narrative shifts to Happy's POV. (Ray's POV does not appear in this series at all.) This would be a good place for him to reflect on his relationship with his son, on his regrets...but all we get is information that makes him look good. He just wants to help his son! He never wanted to be a superhero! He's just a modest everyman, honest.

...except this is a man who immediately after getting his powers became obsessed with his own greatness and felt he had the right to play God. So this rings rather hollow.

See! He's such a Good Dad™! He's super-protective of his kid and willing to fight to get him help! So noble.

(...Ray is all he has left? Excuse me? Joshua exists?)

So Happy manages to acquire the powers of the guy he went to for help and makes a dramatic entrance with his new Super Cool, Better-Than-His-Son's, Immune-To-The-Current-Villain's-Mind-Control Powers of Awesomeness, and Ray is all admiration.

Happy saves the day and delivers this utterly ridiculous one-liner.

Once again, he is Such A Good Dad™.

Such a good dad that Ray can't stop complimenting him, and Happy responds with Fatherly Banter.

(Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters 2007 #8)

Once again, we are reminded that he's just a humble dad doing his job with no desire for the spotlight. None whatever. (Please note his cool new powers. You can call him Neon now.)

The arc ends with father and son bonding at a baseball game, and everything is just fine now. All it takes to convince Ray is his father's saving his life, Happy manages to sound remorseful without actually apologizing or addressing the actual problems, and Ray tells him not to feel guilty, which no doubt is exactly what Happy wanted to hear. Problem solved.

Quite frankly, this entire arc reads like Happy Terrill propaganda. It seems to be going out of its way to present him in the most blameless light possible, glosses over any issues, and makes him The Hero in every way. The narrative wants us to see him as a kindly older man, but in light of his portrayal in both of Ray's solos, this comes across as just more lies, victim playing, and lack of accountability--with the reward of an easily-granted warm parental relationship. It's completely unearned and thus ineffective.

For a plot like this to work, it would require actual demonstrable character growth and characterization that is consistent with what's been previously established. It would need to address all of the wrongs done. Ray would need to play an active role. Nadine and Joshua would need to be involved, because this mess impacted them too. There shouldn't be an easy solution. And we don't see any of that here.

And I'm not sure why the writers of this series chose to go the route that they did. But I suspect they might not have read The Ray 1994.

Clark and Damian have conversations outside in the Wayne garden And it does not go well.

Clark

"Please Dick I'll talk to you after." Dick opened the secret door of the washroom and gave me one last look and left.

I walked out of the washroom and Damian leaned on the wall and turned his head toward me. "We could go into the garden and walk and talk." We walked past the dinning room I looked in the direction of where Dick was he looked at me briefly and looked away.

We went outside to the garden and we walked away from the manor.

We walked in silence so I decided to start the conversation. "You are very bold for saying that in front of your family, We're you going to tell them all of that during dinner throw Dick under the bus do you know how bad it could have went down because your choice of words." I told him I was calm when I told him this.

"I wish I did tell everyone but Barbrara would be in too much pain you don't feel sorry for what you're doing." Damian stops walking and turn to me.

"I do feel sorry for what I'm doing because I will hurt a lot of people, I don't need your help or need a push from you." I said I also stop walking the green path of the lush garden.

"You are Superman I would think your moral would be on point and unshaken, And this is what I encounter a miserable sorry man who cheats on his family." Damian huffed out.

"Yes I'm Superman but I am not miserable and refuse to take this from a man child how murders people for a living. And a boost about it. The sole purpose of my life is to throw your kind under the jail." I didn't want to have this conversation with a kid but I rather him then Bruce or Lois.

"Those men I killed if you knew what they were doing when they were alive you wouldn't bat an eye about killing them yourself." He told me truthfully.

"Please stay out of my affair Damian." I was getting tired of this back and forth from him.

"Dick is my affair he's an idiot and fool but he's my fool and I can't have you destroy him. for sex and pleasure to fill your own desire and needs that is not what I want for my kin not going in this path with you god I'm your son friend." He was being genuine when with me I knew he wanted me to stop this with Dick but I couldn't just stop my feelings.

"I need more time."

"For what."

"To put myself together and find an exit out of my marriage."

"That's what they all say and never do anything about it hurting the other person, You will break my brother's heart you will cast him out and he will be doomed." Pointing accusatory finger at me.

"Unlike most I'm being honest with what I'm saying and I want an exit from Lois" I said in my defence.

"That's something I would like to see the sooner the better, He's innocent Clark he's not like me I get we're your coming from I've seen men like you before the only thing is they have two face's I'm not getting that from you but your living two lives and I don't want you to feel at ease with Dick." He said watching me, His expression of sheer dismissive attitude of not letting this go.

"I love Dick I won't hurt him I've told him that."

"Now you need to tell your wife this."

"Damian don't black male me do you get me."

"I don't need to do that You're already putting yourself in a knot already."

"I can't believe I'm having this type of conversation with a kid."

""Better me then Bruce or Lois."

I turned and pace as I pace I saw Jon from far coming down the trail of the garden. "Jon is coming please don't say anything to him Damian." I held Damian tightly grasping his arms shaking him a little urging him not to spill any beans.

"Then promise me this tell Lois I won't hold anything against you. Superman you have done nothing at this point but lie if you tell the truth I you won't tell anyone but you will do it for Dick and you will earn more then whatever it is that Dick deserves." Damian's expression was sad and suddenly grabbed my face with both hands.

"If you so called care for him Clark Joseph Kent you will promise me this and not be dictated by the principal of pleasure." He didn't release my face when Jon arrived.

"Hey what's going on." Jon said he came to my side pressing his small digits on my bicep.

"Jon gives us a sec ok and I'll come inside the house I just need to talk to your dad." Jon looked at Damian and shook his head. "Why?" Jon didn't want to play the fool either.

"Come on let's all go inside."

"Jon."

Jon came in between me and broke Damian hold on my face.

"Let's go." He held out his hand to Damian Jon was jealous I knew all to well his crush on Damian he didn't hide it well.

Damian stared at Jon and walked away from both of us but not walking towards the manor. "Where are you going." Jon shouted after him.

"I'm going after him."

"No Jon he needs to be alone for awhile let's go inside like you said." We walked down the green path of the garden.

And I knew once I leave this place I would have to honour Damian's promise.

same!! tedbecca is a beautiful dynamic that i have enjoyed a lot, so i liked the shippy takes and the platonic takes, but not the weird mind games about it in s3 sksksk. i am sad that they ended it like this, with ted back in kansas... rebecca was going All Out to make him stay and that was so so so beautiful to me. she would have moved mountains for him and henry :'(

yes, retrospectively, i cannot even say why we had shandy at all. i do understand that it helped to show keeley grow as the founder of her own company but they could have done it differently and still bring that point across? could have used the other employees, for example. was equally disappointed in jackkeeley being not much about anything either.

jamie and his dad. that was. something. i am very very very torn about this one because i interpreted that meeting as jamie allowing himself the chance to finally make peace with his past so he can move on instead of inviting his dad back into his life? i know many see that differently and were very disappointed in that choice, which is fair! to me, it felt like that was probably the first time jamie was meeting his dad as an equal, finally above his dad's shit and willing to stand up for himself after punching him etc, not feeling small or scared but instead feeling absolutely secure as a football player and person. i do refuse to interpret that as forgiveness bc 1000% fuck that. i headcanon that he met him, talked and said his own piece (a la thank you and fuck you) , and then was finally able to let go of his paranoia (always looking for his dad at games etc) and move on to a life that is not haunted by an angry ghost. gotta say tho... that thought is contrasted by my other thought: i hate that he just meets his abuser like that. them meeting in person? idk it could have been a text at most, like why give this abuser a chance like this? i was lowkey excited about jamies dad maybe being dead LOL but then i thoughr about ted and his dad, and rebecca and her dad, about the resentment festering, and just can't help but hope that at least jamie got the chance to say his brutally honest truth instead of letting it fester inside him forever (but again, i totally understand people who cannot bring themselves to find or accept any hopeful interpretation of that scene, i definitely cannot help but be full of mixed feelings myself!)

rebecca going so far as to thinking about selling the club because she hated the idea of doing it without ted was like a truck hitting me man. and her getting a ticket just so she could say bye to him at the last moment oh 😭

i feel like shandy was a missed opportunity that was overtaken by jack. and yes i dont like how they went with jack cause it just felt like they were setting up keeley for failure, relationship and job wise. i knew from the beginning it wasn't going to last and that's kinda shit to just have it there for a storyline. but hey at least we got confirmed bi keeley

im thinking the same as you about jamie and his dad. but i fear the writers thought a 'good' ending for jamie would be to forgive his dad and try to move on. and i would understand that if he was just an alcoholic bad dad. but an abuser who set his son up to be r*ped at 14 makes me feel real uneasy

were bex and nathan shipped? bit of a weird one if so but bex deserved better in all aspects. im just glad they didn't make rebecca into a jealous ex when it came to her. and nathan and jade was uninteresting to me. i'd rather we see nathan REALLY work on becoming better and actually earn the forgiveness like jamie did. did you think that too?

qaf rewatch notes, 1x07

I forgot to write about the first half of this episode, but mostly, just, holy shit gale and randy are good at doing the physical scenes. it's subtle, it's believable, and it's very, very good acting: you can see how even in that sex scene where craig finds the photo of them, that there's emotion there even if brian and justin pretend there isn't. their body language is done *so well*.

basically tldr the only show on tv, maybe, that had mulitple gratuitous scenes per episode and yet hardly any of them were gratuitous??

still skipping all the michael scenes, and all the dr. dave scenes. I don't care much more about ben either, but, dr. dave is... you know, he's controlling in the same way ethan was! huh.

jenn tells craig about brian. oh, jenn. you just ruined your relationship with your son for like... seriously though. Justin basically doesn't trust her for the rest of s1, right? and then s2 she tries to keep them apart again, which breaks his trust in her all over again... maybe s3 it's better? But we don't see her much. I'll have to check s4 and see if they're really, you know.

Justin starts out being whiny in this scene, and then turns into the strong, stubborn man we know he is in order to defend Brian. "he didn't molest me and I'm not a *child*." Justin! <3 "I love him. more than anything else in my life. it's all I want, is to be with him." He stops being whiny and tries to be honest with them, and gets Craig trying to lay down the law. so instead justin walks away. bb Justin, always standing up for what he wants.

when michael cancels on studs and suds, brian looks so *sad*. but. he does *try* to be mostly supportive. like, there's A Lot to unpack about how brian treats michael -- especially in the beginning here while they're still feeling out how to be different around each other. does brian string him along? sort of, mostly? maybe? yes? but why does it? I think there's a huge steaming pile of terror behind that: of being abandoned. he keeps lindsay and michael in love with him because he doesn't know why else they'd be around him if they didn't want him... because nobody else does.

(side note: I think that's part of what brian liked about justin in the very beginning: that very 'pure', for lack of a better word, adoration. it wasn't messy, it wasn't deep or scary like Michael's. justin adored him, and didn't ask for much from him, and was pretty happy to just. be in brian's presence. it was a stable kind of thing: oh yeah. that's my teenage stalker. he adores me. brian didn't have to wonder if justin was gonna leave, because the kid refused to go. which let brian's feelings grow, slowly, because it was secure. like, to a person terrified of abandonment, being adored is flattering but it also provides hella-security: you can let your guard down some because the person has proven over and over they want you)

oh my god, brian just writing lindsay cheques and lindsay just being like "can I tell you I love you?" in her cute little voice. lindsay I hate you. like, brian must get something out of this relationship but for the LIFE OF ME I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT. unless he secretly does want a wife.

dr. dave and mikey in the country, booooooring. ooh, studs and suds! el oh el, brian's sitting there getting soap suds all over this thousand-dollar jacket. and his genuine humour at emmett's antics.

ted calling brian on his bullshit about mikey: a good start for their eventual real friendship, because ted has a smart mouth, can match sharp commentary with brian, and isn't afraid of the truth

brian manipulating mikey to come back in such a way that he can blame michael's over-protective nature -- "don't even think about coming back", "it's a minor head wound, I'll be fine", knowing mikey will freak anyway... brian is testing michael. it's one of those things that fucked up people do, know that they're doing, and yet can't stop themselves (even if they want to, which at this point I don't think Brian wants to stop testing michael's love)

Justin standing up to Craig: justin has not once backed down from a bully since Brian stood up to Hobbs in the third or fourth ep. he meets craig's eyes, he's strong, while craig's face is tilted down and refusing to meet Justin's eyes

I rambled too much in this one for one post. oops.

hahahaha the impromptu party at brian's loft! why tf did they all come over anyway? did brian call them all? justin's there (we can assume) because he came for a booty call / just because, and maybe lindsay and mel are there cause brian called, but still. also, brian's comfortable being all physically couple-y with justin *already*. his calf in Justin's lap, justin holding his leg as if this is normal around the others. <3 my heart!!! <33

Mel, despite thinking brian sort of deserved consequences for fucking a 17 year old, still asks if Brian got his licence plate / info... she doesn't like him at all

Mel: "I know what he's like, his manipulations."

dr. dave comes to the conclusion that brian doesn't give a shit.... contrast that with Ben, who knows that brian gives a shit and [brian] hates it. maybe it's just because ben meets brian after prom, instead of before; though I'd argue Ben is also a lot nicer than dr. dave.

*skips the alpha posturing between brian and dr. dave* booooring.

so spoilers, I'm already leaning toward "just watch the brian/justin" scenes and i'm only on the 8th episode, lolol.

Valentine's day talk

Because I have to fight for my freedom, my sanity and so much more ALL ON MY OWN. My desperation for a husband has left and I'm back to the STRICT, RIGID, HARD CORE, I DO NOT SETTLE FOR LESS, version of me especially when it comes to dating or MEN or a husband.

So, as much as I was daydreaming days/weeks ago of a crush I had years ago on man I worked with once. I now do not care. ANYONE who doesn't benefit me is not beneficial especially in spaces or relationships like those. Sounds harsh, I know. When you're a giver and give abundantly. I am NOT putting people in positions where I falsely believe they are for me. When in reality they are leeches.

I HAVE NO SPACE FOR PARASITES IN ANY PART OF MY LIFE ANYMORE.

I've had enough.

With that I say "unlike valentines day last year, and the year before or some of years I was with the ex I was on and off in a long distance situationship for 5 years. I take this valentines day without feeling hurt/pain (emotionally), feeling left out, desire to be showered with red/hearts/chocolate/valentines day things from someone. As much as I do not have the capacity to shower it to myself like I would and have done, if I felt for it. I am good this Valentines day. So.

The money thing (part 1/2) - Daniel Ricciardo

It's always the little things, isn't it? The smallest stupidest things make almost no difference and then make all the difference in the world. They make everything special, but they also have the power to tear everything appart.

You and Daniel fight about money for the thousand time and he's had enough of it.

Warnings: super angst, but with a happy ending :)

Guys, this turned out WAY BIGGER than I expected, so I'm just gonna do a part 2, okay? Okay, thanks for understanding!

You and Daniel had been dating for a couple months now, having met through a common friend and hitting off almost instantly. You lived in Amsterdam and he, well he lived all over the world really, but his "time off" (meaning not racing) was spent between Monaco and London (for work), and Amsterdam now too, of course.

The changes were small and subtle at the beginning, like your weekends being spent traveling to meet him wherever in the world he was and consequently spending almost all your savings on plane tickets. You never complained to him (you planned on spending the money traveling anyway, so you didn't see the point), but didn't accept when he offered to buy your tickets, either. There's been some awkwardness around the subject but it usually died on its own.

*beginning of flashback*

"You’d have gotten here in time if you'd gotten the early flight like I told you" you remembered him saying that time you got in the paddock after the qualifying session had begun and couldn’t kiss him good luck.

"Baby, I told you. It was crazy expensive! Absurd even!"

"(y/n) for god's sake! What are we saving money for? I told you, you have my credit card number, I've offered to get you one, this is ridiculous, I can't believe I literally earn millions and my girlfriend wasn't there with me because the ticket was too expensive! I'll fucking fly you private if I have to!" he was almost yelling in his driver's room. You could only stare from the corner.

He took a deep breath running his hands through his hair. "Sorry. It's just... it was crap out there. I needed you" you grimaced at his words.

"Sorry. I really am..." you tried to approach him. "I'm here now?" you touched his arm. "It can't have been that bad, you're still on the top 10 and we both know what you can do from the 8th car..." you smiled at him.

*end of flashback*

He started to spend much more of his time off with you at your place, so you decided to get a place by yourself (having a roommate was great for company and splitting the rent, but having a roommate there while you guys just wanted some much-needed privacy was not working). Then there were more traveling to meet him, furniture for the new place, clothing for all the events (GPs or not), uber rides here and there... all of that without mentioning that you weren't being able to get the freelance jobs you used to get to make some extra money, so yeah, to say things were tight was an understatement. You tried to do all your shopping alone, so he wouldn't offer and you wouldn't refuse or be awkward about it, but Daniel seem to be glued to you whenever you were in the same city (not that you’re complaining).

The thing is, you always had trouble dealing with money. Sure, you liked to pay for your own stuff so as to not owe anything to anyone (especially boys), but it was so much deeper than that. Ever since a kid, you hated asking for money from your parents, and sometimes even the thought of buying stuff that was a bit more expensive made you sick. You couldn't explain why, you just felt guilty having so much and knowing that most people have never even seen that amount. It's not that you didn't want to spend it and save for the sake of it, you just didn't handle the idea of money very well. Needless to say, dating a millionnaire was bound to cause trouble in the relationship for you.

You were currently at his place in Monaco. It was the summer break and you had decided to spend some days just chilling at home, just the two of you - which you were glad since going out means hair, makeup, clothes, accessories, shoes... and, let's be honest, the kind of places he usually took you is not the kind of places you just throw something together last minute (the Instagram models and other driver's girlfriends looking you up and down were enough to make you think about spending money you did not have to hire a stylist or something like that). The whole situation was really stressing you out and you knew you would have to be honest with him eventually, instead of only dodging the subject and refusing most of his offers to pay. You tried to. You kind of tried. You suggested staying at home, in bed, most of the time, and he gladly agreed, but that strategy wasn't gonna work forever. You had to be honest with him. But at the same time, you knew what he was going to say and do, and the thought of him spending money on you, even if just by handling the restaurant bill, wasn't something you were much more comfortable with. Besides, it was only a matter of time before the "gold-digger" term starts to fly around in the small world that was the F1's.

You were laying on his couch, the Olympics playing on the TV but you were too busy overthinking the money thing to pay attention. Daniel was laying with his head on your lap, absently caressing your thigh and watching the TV. His phone went off and he moved to pick it up.

"Hello?" you watched as he answered the phone. "Hey mate, how's it going? Uh nothing, we're just chilling at home. Getting some rest... Yeah, I'm getting rested, you dirty-minded son of a bitch" you rolled your eyes while he laughed out loud on the line with someone. "Yeah, I know... the 19th is it? No, it's fine. Yeah, yeah. I'll be there. Alright, mate. Thanks for calling. Have a good one! Bye!" he hanged up and leaned in to peck you on the lips.

"Good news?" you asked him.

"Not really. Just wanted to kiss you" he shrugged, smiling. You smiled back and hugged him, pulling him in for another kiss. He was always so caring with you, always finding an excuse to kiss or touch you. You knew some people didn't like it, but you loved it. Physical touch was definitely one of your love languages.

"What's happening on the 19th then?" you asked him once you guys set apart from the kiss.

"Gotta be in London. Gonna run some testings and other boring race stuff..."

"Hum..." you hummed in understanding.

"You know what would make it less boring though?" he asked and you just looked at him, you already knew what he was going to ask you and it wasn't that you didn't want to spend every minute of the day with him, but you simply couldn't afford any more traveling, especially not in such short notice. "If you came with me. Huh? What do you say? A week in the Queen's land? Then we can fly together to Spa and after the race, I can go with you to Amsterdam. The next one it's the Dutch GP anyway, I'll just get there sooner" he laughed. It was crushing you, the man of your dreams was literally beaming at making plans with you, talking about spending the next few weeks glued together and you couldn't say yes.

"Dan, I have to work" you smiled sadly.

"Can't you work from distance? Or, I don't know, I mean... I know it's tiring, but you could come to London and fly home a bit early, then just meet me in Belgium?" great, his solution includes even more flying. And the thing is, you really didn't mind the flying. You always slept during the whole thing anyway, so you never got tired and the jetlag was minimal. You could work from distance, sure. Your boss wouldn't mind, as long as you got there eventually to check in on everything. But the whole logistics were just too expensive. There was no way you could afford it.

"I... sorry, I don't think I can" you said sadly and watched as his face dropped.

"That's fine, baby. I get it. I'm asking too much, all this traveling... don't worry about it" he tried to mask his emotions but you knew better. He knew you could in fact work from distance, so he was probably thinking the reason you couldn't do it was because you didn't want to.

He got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen. Meanwhile, you couldn't help but bury your face in your palms. This was so frustrating!

"You wanna go for a run or something? Maybe get something to eat?" he called from the kitchen, already moving on from the subject. You knew this whole thing was only gonna keep build up till he got tired of your excuses or you blowing up, probably the former, but you just keep going.

"Yeah, sure" you answered, getting up from the couch.

You and Daniel were both very active so going for a run, hiking, riding bikes, or whatever in the middle of the day was really routine for you. The Monaco summer weather was as beautiful as always and the sun was shining bright. You enjoyed the rest of your afternoon racing each other, kissing in the harbor, and just taking in the views, spending quality time together. Money wasn't even a thing in your bubble for a while.

"I'm getting hungry" he said on the way back home.

"Me too, and I'm super hot. I could go for a juice or something right now" you were all sweaty from the running, but you didn't care, he was too.

"You're always hot baby, I don't think juice gonna help with that" he grinned at you and you just rolled your eyes at him.

You passed by one of his favorite spots for food, nearby his place and he suggested getting some take-out, to which you agreed.

"Green juice, and a chicken wrap?" you tried to decide while the both of you waited in line.

"I'll never understand how you drink that"

"I've seen you drink that too, it's actually very refreshing"

"Because I'm forced to, I'm a high-performance athlete baby. But I'm on a break, so I'll have a coke, thank you very much" you laughed at him. He was holding your hand and tried to kiss you, wrapping his arm around you, you didn't dodge his kiss, you would never, but still laughed at the fact he wanted to kiss the sweaty mess you were right now.

"I'm gross, only you" you laughed.

"That's my baby, with no makeup she a ten" he rapped shrugging and grinning.

"Alright Lil Wayne, I know that one, don't even finish the verse" you laughed at him, making him laugh out loud, getting everyone's in the restaurant's attention.

"It's true, though"

"Sure..." You just shook your head smiling. Then you heard someone call his name.

"Hey! Daniel!" you both turned around to see Charles and Charlotte sitting in a corner, him waving at you two. You had met Charles a couple of times before but never spoke too much to him. They seemed to be leaving anyway, so they walked towards you guys, instead of towards the door.

"Hey mate, how's it going?" Daniel greeted him with a handshake. "Hey, Charlotte! You know (y/n) yet?"

"Hi! I don't think so, hi! How are you?" she greeted you smiling.

"Hi! Nice to meet you. Hi, Charles!" you said.

"Hey, (y/n). You're keeping him in line during the break? Char won't let me cheat my diet either" he laughed.

"Oh, that ship has sailed long ago! Daniel will just roll into the paddock if it's up to him" you laughed back.

"Hey! I think I've earned the right to some extra calories, we've been working out extra hard lately" Daniel said waving his eyebrows suggestively, making Charlotte giggle, Charles rolls his eyes and you go even redder than you were from the actual workout, while he just laughed out loud.

"I don't even want to know" Charles said. "Always great running into you mate" he was getting ready to say goodbye.

"Are we seeing you guys tomorrow?" Charlotte asked you.

"Tomorrow?" you asked her.

"Stefano's birthday" she said like it was obvious. Stefano Domenicali was the President and CEO of Formula 1, but you didn't know that yet - still, her tone made it seems like it was someone Daniel knew, so you just looked at him. He just rubbed his neck, looking a little embarrassed. "Oh, wait. Please tell me I didn't just said something I shouldn't" she looked at Charles.

"No, no. He invited me. Us, actually" Daniel reassured her. "I don't think we're going though, forgot to mention to you" he said looking at you.

"Uh mate, I wouldn't skip that if I were you. He didn't even invite all the drivers I heard" Charles said. "Maybe just stop by to say hello?"

"Stop by... a yacht... at the sea?" Charlotte said grinning at him. Daniel looked at you.

"You feel like going? It should be fun" he asked you.

"Sounds fancy... I mean, I don't mind if you go" you said.

"Common... I’m not going alone" he nudged you.

"I don't even have anything to wear, Dan" you told him.

"Oh! We can go shopping together!" Charlotte said and you had almost forgotten they were still there.

"Perfect!" Daniel answered for you. You could only imagine the types of stores she shopped.

"Tomorrow morning, then? Daniel can text your address to Charles for me? I'll pick you up!" she was being really nice about it.

"I thought you wanted to go today?" Charles said.

"That's when I thought I would have to go shopping with you, so I could use the extra time since you're the worst shopping partner ever!" she laughed at him.

"Burn!" Daniel laughed.

"His fashion taste is not the most reliable, let's face it" she laughed and kissed his cheek. "It's a date then (y/n)?" she looked expectantly at you. You didn't want to let her down, it was so hard to make friends with the girlfriends of other drivers, they were usually so... not nice. You could always just help her and find something to wear in your own stuff later.

"Yeah, sure! See you tomorrow, at 10?" you said simply.

"Perfect!" she beamed.

[/rp. gonna preface this w saying tommy is my favorite character on the smp, c!dream is a Villain and i am always waiting for him to get fucked up, and i do actually care a lot about the lore and the integrity of the storywriting!!]

anyways, uh. yeah too many people in the dash are making this about c!tommy, so. reminder!

c!tommy is not the main character. he is not the only only character. the storyline is not exclusively about him. too many people in the dash are treating him like he is, and i don't know if its just being emotional in the heat of the moment or if it's actual, honest crit, but it's dismissive and hypercritical and weird. i have my own reservations with that stream--bad pacing, weird progression between plot points, a lack of flow and no follow-through on build-up--but 'the way they talked about tommy' is not one of them. and i'm seeing a lot of narrative/character decisions being criticised when they honestly make a lot of sense?

first up! tubbo! pretty much everything this boy did today was to save michael. literally the only goal was to save michael. through that lens, pretty much anything touting tubbo's decisions as unrealistic falls flat. "tubbo should not work with techno!" his son is kidnapped and he needs a valuable ally. "so he should just team up w the man who freed his best friend's abuser?" yes, because his son is kidnapped and he needs a valuable ally. "how dare he accept techno's apology so fast?" his son is kidnapped and he needs a valuable ally. "why's he forgiving him?" that's?? tubbo's thing? that he forgives and forgets, over and over, especially when it doesn't serve him? we've seen this before! it's not new! quite frankly nothing tubbo did this stream was new for his character, come on now!

the techno crit is slightly different. as someone who has disliked c!technos hypocrisy and refusal to apologise for months, can someone tell me why exactly we're mad at him for finally apologising today?

i understand the gist of it--it was rushed, fast, not well spoken, awkward. tubbo said sorry first before techno responded. tldr, it wasn't a good apology. guess what! that's all true. but, guess what else! that doesn't negate the fact that it is still an apology. it is still an attempt to set things right. and like--techno did a lot of things that showed him trying to set things right. he let tubbo take charge of the mission ("techno, why are you walking in front?" "i can walk in the middle.") he lent him ranboo's axe. he encouraged him to hold all of ranboo's things in the vault. he told tubbo to fuck sam up. he invited tubbo to live where it was safe in the antarctic commune. technoblade is, for the first time, literally doing all the right things. whether his progression was too fast is its own crit, seperate from this stream. but for fuck's sake, you can't demand for him to do something specific for once and then get mad when he actually does it. just! holy shit! let the man breathe!

and of course, all of this comes around to center on a character that wasn't even brought up--tommy. i don't know how to word this except by saying that like. this isn't tommy's stream. they are fully, unequivocally allowed to Literally Not Care. especially in the case of cc!tubbo and cc!eret, who are trying to ease themselves back into lore for the first time in months. they're allowed to focus on the plot being advertised as the main draw of the stream and not bring up tommy. yes, even if it means making jokes about the prison. yes, even if it means ignoring that technoblade freed dream. the characters openly acknowledged that they were only teamed up because of this very specific set of circumstances, and tubbo still stood up to their bullshit and demanded an apology. again! pacing and execution was a little iffy. but they are quite literally allowed to fuck up and just not mention certain things. these are all things that are happening for now--who knows! maybe tommy will be brought up next time!! maybe eret will shit on techno for freeing dream! maybe techno will face consequences and have to apologise!!! None Of Us Know!!! i joke that i can't watch any lore without making it about tommy, but this is genuinely getting toxic. it's not supposed to be about tommy. the cc's are trying to give us something cool, and i liked their attempt! please stop crucifying their every move.

I'm surprised people see Tadashi as the victim in his relationship with Ainosuke, when it's Tadashi the one who time and time again takes away Ainosuke's agency, without being able to see that he is throwing him unto unhappiness. I can't help but think that if Tadashi was not working at Shindo's house, Ainosuke would have maybe left or broke with the family. But he can't do that if he wants the relationship with Tadashi going on, seing how Tadashi is set on enforcing the family rules...

Hmm.. I def agree with the fact that Tadashi is not what most fandom makes out of him, my man (I mean, Adam’s man) is a 100% Slytherin. But I disagree with blaming him for this, after all the revealed info. The environment they were both raised in made their situation complicated.

I like Tadashi a lot, he’s probably my fav thing about this anime, bc he’s a dark horse, and I’m once again surprised, that so little ppl see him for who he really is, portraying him as an innocent puppy, which he is definitely not.

Now to why I think both Tadashi and Adam are victims of the dad and aunties in this situation.

We can of course say “if only they told each other how they really feel...”, but like we can say it about any love story really. Every author knows it’s no fun. The truth is that yes, they both hurt each other, and yes, if they were honest about their feelings things would’ve been different, but as I’ve already wrote under that “toxic” commentary on YT, lets look at the whole situation from both of their point of views:

We know that Adam when he was little always treated Tadashi as an equal, he never ever thought of him as someone lower than him and after their fall out, the only reason for this “harsh” treatment (well, besides their confirmed kink) was that Adam tried to get a reaction out of him, so Tadashi would stand up for himself, bc Ainosuke got mad about Tadashi caving to his dad’s wishes and abandoning him, when he needed him the most.

But now, knowing the fact that Tadashi was his dad’s secretary and was under his control, let’s see it from his perspective: Tadashi wanted to stay by Adam’s side, Adam’s dad implied that if Tadashi did say smth, he’s gonna be.. well, dismissed and they won’t see each other ever again. That’s what caused Tadashi to stay silent in that moment. Ainosuke instead saw this as a “he’s not on my side” thing, well, because. Tadashi won’t tell him his problem, bc dad and aunties control everything, so even if he does tell him, what a teen would do really? He didn’t have any powers back then to make his dad do anything.

And that’s when it all gone to shit, since they both were hurt for their own reasons. It’s easy to say leave the family, but 1stly nobody explained to Adam still that he’s physically and psychologically abused by his family, he sees it as them “loving him” and sadly also loves them, bc nobody told him, that love wasn’t supposed to be like that really. He definitely feels that smth is not right and feels emotionally exhausted there bc of this treatment, but did he ever consider leaving? I really don’t think so. He feels obligated to be worthy of a family, who “loves” him.

Do you think, for example, that Akashi Seijuro hates his dad for what he did to him? No. Does he understand that he wasn’t at fault for what happened to him and that his dad instead of comforting his child after his mother’s death, who was his only safe haven, made everything worse? I don’t think he does. Like his mom gave him basketball, an escape from all that family’s obligations and strictness. After her death, it was the only thing left that brought him joy, but his dad ruined even that, saying that if he’s gonna be bad at it/lose, he’d take it away from him too. Does Akashi see this as emotional abuse? No, he sees it like “well, I have to be the best bc I was born in such powerful family, so if my dad says that I must be best at everything, then I must.”

I personally hate such parents a lot. To me it doesn’t matter if Adam’s dad didn’t know about aunties hitting his child. Like if he was too busy to notice this and have no time for his kid and made his childhood miserable, it doesn’t make it any better really.

Same as with Akashi’s dad. Some are like “he was probably also grieving about his wife”. Emm? He was like this from the beginning, bc he treated Akashi not as his son, but as his heir. And yes, that’s different things. Same with Endeavor and Todoroki. Your child is not your post production thing.

2ndly they were too young, even if they knew about each others feelings and he didn’t feel obligated and told everyone to fuck off, they’d be on the streets now, but also Adam’s dad doesn’t seem like a guy who’d leave them alone really. Also eloping seems very romantic, but I don’t think it is, esp when you’re teens. Did you want him to sell some expensive watch and go live on Hawaii or smth? Bc finding a decent job there would be difficult at this age, esp with everyone knowing who your dad is. Chen Ke from “Antidote” survived bc he was 27 and had connections and some great friends. Adam was in high school, where would he go exactly?

Now let’s go back to now. Obviously all this time it didn’t even cross Tadashi’s mind that for Ainosuke he comes first and that he would throw everyone under the bus to make Tadashi stay with him. As we see at the end, he legit believed that Adam was planning to send him to jail and didn’t get that he said it just to shaken he up and that he knew who he’d set up for this from the beginning.

To Adam obviously it doesn’t matter whether they’re in a quarrel or not, he would never him go. Yes, he’s mad at him, he’s angry and hurt, but Tadashi’s still the person he needs the most, he’s still the person who brightens his days, even tho he deliberately behaves like he annoys him. He always looks at him and looks at him and looks at him, but then hisses smth to hurt him. Bc he knows that he needs him, but he also hates that he needs him, bc he thinks it’s unrequited.

And that’s how their classic romance goes in hellish circles. No one wants to talk as usual. Adam is mad Tadashi is like that bc his dad turned him into a slave with no opinion, while Tadashi is scared that Adam would be taken away from him bc of his ugly family.

Now I still think that no one and I mean no one can take Tadashi from Adam now, he is his precious. So my plan is... if Tadashi made aunties do smth against him or to get rid of him, aunties will go for sure. The problem is Tadashi still doesn’t get that he comes first, so we’re stuck in this hell still.

So anyways, my point is Adam’s heart basically sings “you got a hold of me, don’t even know your power” to Tadashi, but he doesn’t hear it, bc of his insecurities, the way he was raised and his status. But yes, he holds all the power. He’s both Adam’s sanity and insanity. No matter how cheesy it sounds he was basically his only ray of sunshine in the darkness, if you take it away, that’s what it leads to, that’s why Ainosuke-sama needs more ppl who care for him. I don’t want anyone to die next time, just cause Tadashi and Adam fought about where to put their new couch lmao. I’m kidding, but you know what I mean. And kill the aunties, pls seriously, we need to be free.

Also ppl need to remember that like lots of animes/characters are parcially inspired by some other animes/characters, also the chosen seiyuus are also very important, there are lots of stuff like jokes and references, that creators use, from characters being fully inspired by smth like “Assassination classroom” characters based on KNB, to little stuff like Levi dressed in Akashi’s uniform in chibi AOT bc Hiroshi Kamiya. Utsumi already said before stuff like she sometimes think of a perfect voice for the character and then fully forms him, we also know her clear love for sports animes. So yes, I doubt Tadashi/Kuroko thing is a coincidence and even tho someone was like “zone? is this knb or smth?” I was like no, zone is actually a common thing in sports, even tho most associate it with KNB including me, it’s not like its their invention, but there were things inspired by this for sure, and from other sports animes too and no, I don’t mean the basic sports anime tropes, I mean, like way too specific things, some character designes, too. And yes, Langa appearence and personality wise is a rinharu child for real, I can literally split his scenes in “that’s Haru”, “that’s Rin”.

That’s why I’ve said that this situation in fandom reminds me of Kuroko/Akashi situation a lot, bc same as here in KNB ppl for some reason automatically thought that Kuroko is this innocent sheep and Akashi is the wolf (but also like it was Akashi who chose to dress as red riding hood, while Kuroko was a wolf lmao), not even seeing who is in reality more dangerous and who can easily control who. It just buffles me bc it’s not some deep analisys really. I mean once again there’s a reason for the saying that the sub holds all the power over the dom.

And like just bc someone yells or threatens ppl constantly doesn’t necessarily mean he is a psycopatic killer, and just bc someone is quiet and doe-eyed, doesn’t mean he isn’t. I didn’t think we needed to explain this to someone, but aparently we do?

And it honestly kills me just how superficially ppl are watching things these days. It really gives me war flashbacks to stuff like the last mdzs s1 episode, where ppl started to comment things like “how LZ can be so heartless” lmao. Or that anonymous ask “do you think haru misses rin?”. Like you don’t see thing at all? Grey substance no needed, while watching things?

P.S. I also would die to see Adam vs Tadashi race just bc I for some reason can bet all my money, that it’s the same situation as with Akashi refusing to ankle break Kuroko, no matter how mad he is. I just can’t imagine Ainosuke hitting Tadashi in the face with a board. Like 100% sure he wouldn’t even try tbh.
