Rewatching Andor (as you do) and I'm more and more convinced that the kids on Kenari are the survivors of some devastation in the mines; even an attack, maybe.
If Kenari is known for its "big dark eyes" off planet, enough people have left to give them a reputation. That means spacefaring, which makes a regular mining colony more likely, rather than the simple hunter-gatherer life we can infer from what we see in the show.
Looking closer, a lot of the clothing looks looted - it's the same quilted pattern as on Ferrix, standard work gear. The buildings and stuff are pretty simple, could be something even a bunch of kids can put together given enough time and reason. There's not a single adult in the camp. And the one girl tried to wave down the ship, as if they were stranded.
Still, they were wary when approaching, and ready to fight the people in it, so they have some experience with Bad Guys.
So, were they some quiet colony, until the parents were press-ganged into the mines or otherwise killed? Or were they the survivors of a mining town, attacked or sabotaged during the Clone Wars, hopeful for rescue but fearful of enemies?
Most smart animals, dog/cow/pig/whatever, are basically just a guy. Birds maybe have something different going on. But octopi are aliens.
The one fact I know about octopus intelligence is that most of it is in the eight independent arms. "The" "singular" "octopus" is a manager or a coordinator, and we don't know many details.
Someone I know who's a marine biologist added a second fact yesterday. She said that all octopi start losing their intelligence when they're pretty young. She described it as like human dementia, only earlier. Does this mean all of them are experiencing that horrifying feeling-yourself-slipping-away sensation their whole lives? Maybe! We don't know! They're aliens!
This is why it's important to stop killing sharks. Their ecological niche is getting filled by octopi, and I do not want the oceans taken over by committees of aliens with dementia. Just look what they did to Congress.
I know we're all holding our breath regarding the plot developments of Arcane season 2 with regards to LoL lore, but season 1 already went greatly against expectations.
We expect Vi to become a cop and join Caitlyn in her police work but instead Caitlyn lost her job and immediately went rogue. So far both of them aren't anywhere close to being coworking cops, neither of them are even cops right now (/for most of season 1).
We expect a villain arc for Viktor, but who is currently better set up to get a villain arc - the quiet genius simply trying to save his owl life, or the politician with ping-pong morality who kills a kid (and probably a dozen other people but who's counting) in a fit of rage?
Not saying Arcane season 2 won't do any of these things, but considering how much they've defied expectations already....
I need to Do Work™ on a number of things that I feel like I Don't Really Know How to Do Right™, and so my brain Won't Let Me Do Anything™. I've been stuck in this state for way too long (weeks perhaps..) time to overdose on caffeine (which is a low bar for me 'cause I'm weak) and blast the Utena OST into my brain and just hope & pray I can finally shift into Work Mode™
Wish me luck ;__;

After I heard the news about the new daredevil series, I had to do a meme
No seriously tho, with this format of 6 episodes each season they are ruining good series. Why they don't understand that a rushed season is disappointing!? This makes me so upset because I really love these characters but they give them a rushed conclusion.
