Why So Rude? (Or Yuu's BF Asks Crewel for their Hand in Marriage and What Happens Next Will Shock You)
Tumblr media
For legal reasons, this is a joke. I have been dealing with a health issue of sorts (i am not dying so no worrying ok? just v annoyed) so writing longer stuff is escaping me at the moment, enjoy some crack while I take a breather. More can be found on my masterlist here.
Tumblr media
NO (FLOYD, Rook, and Malleus)
Crewel has been in denial about this "relationship" since it started. Not that his disapproval is really going to stop Floyd, but Crewel 100% refers to him as "Yuu's ex boyfriend" much to the confusion of... everyone who hears that. They do find some common ground in their shared interest in fashion, but Crewel has never forgiven him for his behavior in his class OR his "stealing" Yuu's heart.
Rook on the other hand he didn't have too much of an issue with until he realized just how familiar he seemed to be with his home for someone who had supposedly only been there to visit you. The twenty page letter he wrote to confess his feelings to you didn't help either once he saw the few lines where Rook wrote about the beauty of your finger prints, but he knows his disapproval means very little to someone as obsessed with romance as Rook.
Malleus... is the King of a country genuinely hostile to humans and Crewel thinks he is a little too obsessed with Yuu for his own good. He is also not a fan of how condescending Malleus is towards his disapproval, but it's an issue that will be worked out eventually. They are fighting out of love for the same person, your safety and happiness is all they really care about at the end of the day.
No, but as a joke (Sebek and Jack)
I don't think he has anything against him really, he just wants to see how important tradition and the opinion of his elders actually is to him. When Sebek begins to plead his case because he does not wish to put a wedge between Yuu and their father figure, but cannot deny his feelings for Yuu Crewel's more than happy to "change his mind." He knows you will be happy and well looked after.
Jack is a solid partner, and he is a wolf beastman who speaks of Yuu as his soulmate, his one and only, his eternal life partner and- well. Crewel just can't resist a bit of teasing, he's always been so serious and easy to fluster about these sort of things. The sheepish look on his face when he realizes Crewel has been teasing him makes it very worth it.
I can't stop you can I... (Leona, Kalim, and Rollo)
While Crewel has faith that Leona has what it takes to save his home- he lives in the Sunset Savannah. That is really far away from the Queendom of Roses ( ; ω ; ) have some pity on your poor father he can't travel that far all the time it's bad for his skin. The pressures of being the partner of royalty is something he worries over, but a smug promise from Leona to protect you soothes his worries somewhat.
The flippant way Kalim talks about the assassination attempts is not the way Crewel wants to hear about attempts on your life or heaven forbid your death. Kalim is very sympathetic to this, he has no real argument against how ignorant he was in the past, but he isn't a child anymore. Just filled with a childlike love for the world and determination to make it better. It is hard to say no to that.
Rollo is too much like Trein. His request for your hand in marriage feels like something that the old man would cry tears of genuine joy over, so of course he hates it. Unfortunately he also knows how much this teen grandfather matters to you or whatever so the answer will be yes. At least he has an excuse to visit Fleur City more now.
Give me one good reason. (Azul, Jade, Idia, and Lilia)
Azul was such a good student that he should have zero complaints that you started dating. But he also isn't blind and dislikes being pandered to, which is very much what Azul is doing here. He does wonder briefly if this is a cultural thing and he is being insensitive, but he is still exasperated enough to not immediately say yes. The strange twinkle that comes to Azul's eyes at the prospect of negotiations makes him wish he had though.
Speaking of not being blind, what does the Leech family do and is it legal? Survey says probably yes, but Crewel remembers dealing with Jade's parents while he was in school and has no desire to feed his child to the shar- err eels. Jade immediately begins to sniffle, oh how could Crewel say such bad things about him? A poor innocent eel and blah blah blah. If Jade wasn't such a good partner he'd be cooked.
Crewel understands and appreciates the effort Idia has put in to his personal growth and he has no desire to shit on that... but S.T.Y.X. and the secrecy around it is no joke. He wants to continue having a relationship with Yuu and as soon as Idia reassures him of that he has no more objections.
Lilia is an old man, a war criminal, and a father. Of course Crewel has seen how he was able to live as a student while at NRC but his own credit as a father would be under fire if he didn't object mildly. Lilia has some fun with it and has a bit more respect for him for objecting. So long as the eventual answer is yes.
Yes (Riddle, Trey, Cater, Ruggie, Jamil, and Epel)
While Crewel does have some red flag concerns concerning Riddle's mother, he has no real objections to Riddle himself. He is a perfect gentlemen and the correct amount of nervous to be asking the question. He gets full marks, as if there would ever be any other outcome.
Trey is that sort of solid option that parents really love, but he also has that tight personal relationship with Crewel from his Science Club days. He lives in the Queendom and is tight with his own family there are few better places for Yuu to be.
While Cater isn't Crewel's favorite student, he doesn't hate him or the Shaftlands. He is also not entirely unconvinced that him asking is for a magicam trend but! He has no real major objections. He is more than ready to have two kids, as soon as Cater is willing to admit he could use a stable father figure.
I don't think that Ruggie would even suggest marrige unless he's obtained that stable, high paying job he so baldy wants and has moved his Granny out of the slums. It's the perfect time to ask for permission to propose, and while the Savannah is still super far away (r.i.p. Crewel's skin) he is much more supportive of the two of you and how far you've come.
Similarly to Ruggie, I don't think Jamil would propose to Yuu unless his personal issues with Kalim and his position with the Asim's had been sorted. He wants to actually travel on his honeymoon, and Crewel is very willing to suggest the Queendom of Roses. Jamil's ego is absolutely stroked by how Crewel had zero objections but your adoptive dad doesn't get to see how smug it makes him, Jamil saves the smirks for when you say yes.
I think that Crewel seems to like all of the first years, and Epel is no exception. Sure, his request starts out well put together and polite but devolves into a dialect that leaves Crewel with no idea of what he's saying, but he has a general idea. Of course Epel has his blessing, Harveston sounds like a lovely place for Yuu to live their life in Twisted Wonderland and Epel a perfect person to keep them safe and happy.
He already planned the wedding (Ace, Deuce, Silver and Vil)
I know what you're saying. Crewel approving of Ace? Of course he does! He was in his homeroom class, and Crewel has a soft spot for trouble makers from the Queendom, he was one after all! Sure he might have had some problems with him when you first started dating, but now, when he is deathly serious saying he wants to spend the rest of his life with you? Crewel has been waiting for this since he fist saw carrot head yanking your chain.
Deuce is a much easier sell, Crewel was always a bit harsh on his intelligence, but only because he ran a tight ship and wanted him to reach for the stars. Well he has, and he has you to support him through it, Crewel is so proud of both. He and Dilla have absolutely been hypothetically planning this for years.
While Silver's curse did not endear him to Crewel for his first two years of schooling, he really grew on him when you started going out. He's glad that you've found someone who loves you as much as Silver does, really he is. Unfortunately this means he has to plan a wedding with Lilia, something they both have been doing since you started going out and never talked about. Don't worry! They only intend to fight a lot little bit.
The instant you started dating Vil Crewel entered his mother of the bride era. The permission asking was less Vil wanting to be polite and more him coming up with a way to distract him and convince him to focus on designing the clothes. Thankfully it works and no one other than his dogs have to know just how insane the prospect of his two favorite students marrying made him.

❤️ You were a descendant of the Queen who took up after the Queen of Hearts passed away years ago, and ever since then, your family has ruled the Queendom of Roses without faults
❤️ Because of fears of betrayal and such, your family never really spoke to many others outside of work, but, when you received a letter claiming your advising attendance at Night Raven College, you jumped at the opportunity
❤️ When you arrived, you suffered far less criticism from Riddle than others, and many believed that he feared you because of your ranking, he didn't want to upset his mother
❤️ But, when you guys started to befriend one another and began your relationship, you figured out the true reason he didn't behead you as much as others
❤️ He didn't wish to bring any shame to his family, and when you saw how down he looked about that thought, you admitted to faking so many smiles, just because it was what your ancestor, known as the White Queen did
" I guess we aren't that different after all, huh? "
❤️ Ever since that day, you have recommenced having his parents meet yours, and, despite his constant pleas of you letting it go, you finally relented and asked for him to at least help you send a letter to his mother
❤️ Riddle's mother not-shockingly wasn't fond that her son began to see someone without her permission, but, when she realized how prominent you were in their homeland, she had to relent and allow your relationship to proceed, she didn't need the royal guard on her back

🎮 How did this guy manage to get your attention? The world may never know
🎮 As a higher-ranked official, specifically a descendant of the man who took the thrown of the King of the Underworld after his demise, you were normally thrown into many different affairs, making you try hiding away constantly
🎮 Thankfully, your prayers of freedom were answered, and you got an offer to join Night Raven College, and your family couldn't hold you back, since you gave the school a solid yes behind their backs
🎮 When you were organized into Ignihyde with Idia, he was very intimidated by you, since you were so popular among students
🎮 Though, funnily enough, you would go running away from the many students who wanted to ask you for things, and you would end up running into a nearby room, one in which Idia was occupying alone
🎮 You guys started speaking about how much you enjoyed a game and you ended up becoming quite close, in which you helped with with building Ortho's mechanical body
🎮 Idia was definitely nervous when you started your relationship, to him, you were the best thing to exist; powerful - yet caring, and quite smart when it comes to strategies, while he was, in his opinion, odd and not-worthy of you
🎮 Most of the time, he pushes your ranking in the Island of Woe, if you could push his issues aside, then he could put everything about you aside as well!

🐍 Many feared you because of how logical you were, you were rumored to be able to see through any kind of lies or, really, any kind of deceit, no matter the person
🐍 Jamil had heard about you mainly from Kalim and his parents, as you were a far-off relative of the Al-Asim's, specifically, you were a descendant of the Sultana from hundreds of years ago
🐍 You were being forced to heir the thrown, since your older brother had been assassinated a few years prior, and when you came by for a summer to spend time with your younger distant cousins, he would be lying if he said he wasn't fond of you
🐍 Whenever you noticed that Kalim was getting to be too much for Jamil, you would grab the young ball-of-sunshine and ask if he wanted to play with his younger siblings and you
🐍 Due to your far different rankings, you kept your relationship hidden, as you didn't wish for your family's council to end up punishing his family, who had done nothing wrong
🐍 Jamil would normally grab you and him a small cup of tea and relax with you on the balcony of your room, keeping the silence either in progress or cut it out with conversations about your lives and dreams of the future
🐍 And while your relationship may be in forcible secrecy, you shared your dream of living with Jamil by your side, either ruling over your homeland or relinquishing your role to one of your younger siblings to travel with your one and only

🐺 Jack knew quite a bit about you, as his parents loved to tell stories of the news to him and his younger siblings as they grew older, and they just made the news more recent and a hint more mature as Jack aged
🐺 So, when you arrived at Night Raven College at the same time as him, he was quite excited when you were organixed in the same dorm as him, Savanaclaw
🐺 He noticed how casually you would speak to Leona, and that was when the pieces of his mind actually realized just who you were
🐺 As the second-in-line heir to the Shaftlands, and the offspring of the descendant of the Fairest Queen and a high-ranking raven beastman, you had met the two heirs of Sunset Savannah early on in life, prompting a strong friendship between you and the lion-beastman to emerge
🐺 Jack began to speak with you when he saw how you trained your unique magic to be stronger than it was at the start of the year, and he began to train with you
🐺 One day, his siblings decided to come by for a visit, they stopped and starred at you as your boyfriend chuckled and introduced you, and after hearing your role and name, the young boy and girl began to bombard you with questions on your life as a royal member
🐺 The wolf-beastman smiled and watched as you spoke gently with his siblings as his grandparents and parents asked him how you met and when you began your relationship
🐺 He just smiled and answered them honestly, and he hoped one day his family could meet yours, and the kids you were currently playing with were adults as your own children took their places...

How would riddle, malleus and epel react to the overseer personally knowing their family their family was not aware they were the overseer (for malleus and epel the overseer met their grannys and for riddle they know his mom)
Self-aware au
I do not take any responsibility for you reading this no matter which age group you are from!
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, obsession, kidnapping, religion, cult, unhealthy relationship, threats, blood, imprisonment
Riddle Rosehearts/Epel Felmier/Malleus Draconia-Player knows one of their family members
Tumblr media
Riddles mother
It was once more time for a holiday
NRC was prepared to host a few attractions and to have family members visit for a day or two
Riddle was warned by a letter from his mother that she was coming
So the day was here. The celebration was in full swing. And look at that, it's the mother of a certain redhead. Noo-I mean, yay...
Riddle was prepared for another scolding for something he “did wrong” but after greeting her son (in a way too stiff manner) she turned to you and... greeted you as well?
You see, little, helpful you had promised the former red tyrant to help his dorm with their celebration so you were also present when the madam came over
“Mother, why do you know the Overseer?” “What are you talking about, Riddle?”
Apparently, Trey had once invited you to meet his family after you showed interest in his siblings and the bakery. In the Queendom you had gone on a walk in the forest, slipped and twisted your ankle so badly that you couldn't walk anymore. Luckily Riddles mother came by (for some reason) and helped you, being a doctor and all
Now, lady is of course no idiot so after her son had asked her that question she was just a new addition to the garden as a statue
Riddle was terrified that you saw the polite yet also arrogant way his mother spoke to you in the past as something rude
Now, you were of course not the biggest fan of her but at least she healed you back then
Once you are gone, running off to Pomefiore to help over there, Riddle had a talk with his mother
Usually he would show her respect but today it was like the roles were reversed
Kind words and any kind of love he had left for her were thrown out of the window when he asked her “how she could have not recognized their uncrowned ruler?”
Riddle was this close to snapping and using his special magic on her
For the first time Riddles mother was afraid of her son
Never before had she seen him so angry
But oh well, better stay in line and be nice to you instead of finding out how far she could push his boundaries
It was almost like he wouldn't just chop her head off in a metaphorical sense with his special magic but rather literally in a much, much more bloody way
Tumblr media
Epels Grandmother
Ah yes, Epels sweet sweet granny could of course not miss her beloved grandson
She even prepared some cake and other delicious treats for him. How sweet!
So when perfection themselves, the Overseer, suddenly marched over after they spotted a familiar mop of light lilac hair he nearly had a heart attack
But instead of his Granny being surprised she just said a nice hello, that it was good to see you again and how things had been since you had seen each other
Why did his granny know the Overseer? Why did his granny know God?
Now Epel couldn't of course ask that later part, considering that his villages view on you was in comparison rather... yeah let's call it “extreme”
Turns out he had forgotten something when he visited Harveston the last time and you brought it to him, only for you to meet his Grandmother before you ran into him. Giving her what he forgot the two of you had a nice little talk before you left
And this is the point when Epel felt like he was ready to bash his head against the wall
Vil must have noticed a short in Epels mood because the model just threw him a very poisonous look
So here Eprl was, standing like a lost little child between his Granny and f-ing God whilst the two of you had a nice little chat about the weather
When you finally said goodbye to the two, running off to Diasomnia because you were invited for tea, Epel was juts like “Granny, we need to talk.”
Say goodbye to your apple-free days because after that talk, there will be boxes of so-called “offerings” in front of your door. Every. Single. Day.
“Granny, don't be too shocked but you met God.” “Hoho, what are you talking about?” “...” “Oh...”
For the rest of the day her legs were so shaky that Epel was afraid for her health
I mean, come on, the very person who has drilled tales about a deity into your head finally meeting said deity is something that is guaranteed to have a way too high blood pressure
The next time you run into her she isn't entirely sweet anymore
Of course she is still nice but there is something creepy about her. The way her eyes drill into you, how her questions are always a tad bit too personal
And did she just utter a prayer with your name in it? Nah, must be your imagination
Tumblr media
Malleus Grandmoter
How she didn't recognize you the first time you two met is a wonder considering that she has that sixth sense every Fae has that tingles even when you are being simply mentioned
But today is a great day, Malleus grandmother came over to visit her grandson, a rare day of rest for her
Maleus was just about to tell her that he had invited a guest when you showed up
So when he stood up to introduce you to her she was just like “Oh, the child of man I met that one day.”
Cue Malleus standing there like a plank
Poor man is so surprised that he can't even ask how the heck you two met each other
When he finally asked when you two met he found out that he had forgotten to send a letter of his so you had jumped through one of the mirrors and delivered it to the castle yourself
After almost getting impaled for jumping right into a heavily guarded castle you had explained yourself and boom, you had a fife minute talk with grandma Draconia
Ok, great, wonderful, but did she know that you were the Overseer?
When he told her who you were she had to set down her teacup, shock sinking into her bones
Following his words you asked what he meant with Overseer
This was the day Diasomnia saw their dorm leader drop a teacup
Like with Epel you are now more or less in trouble
I mean, yeah, it's nice to get literal national treasures sent to your doorstep but at the same time, what the heck??!
Back in the Valley of Thorns the Fae are panicking left and right
What do you mean, the Overseer has already visited us once? And we pointed all kind of sharp tools at them??!
It wouldn't be much of a surprise if you just woke up one day in a room that you had never seen before, living like a bird in a golden cage
You know, the next ruler has taken a liking to you and your loyal followers need to protect you
So sit still and don't try to run

𝐕𝐈𝐋 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐄𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐓 - 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐀𝐍𝐓
A manicured finger circles the rim of a golden goblet, the chalice filled with dark red wine the color of crimson blood.
Vil Schoenheit, king of one of the most powerful queendoms on the continent, sighs as he massages his temple, legs crossed as he leans wearily on his plush, velvet seat, his purple-tinted lips curling down into a frown.
"Is something the matter, your majesty?" The fire crackles softly in the fireplace as you whisper the words tentatively, and Vil turns his head towards your direction, his frown deepening as he inspects you.
"The matter is you have a grass stain on your uniform." He clicks his tongue as you try to find it, before giving up the search with a sheepish grin as you rub the back of your head with a hand. Vil rolls his eyes, his attention directing to the fireplace.
"You should know that as my personal servant, you must act and dress according to the status of your master.” His voice is reprimanding, and you silently wince, recounting all the times he had said those same words. It was practically branded in your mind.
"I'm sorry, your majesty," You mumble, still trying to find the stain on your clothes, and Vil sighs again, closing his eyes, before turning his attention back to you.
"The stain is on the right-no, not your right, my right-you missed it." You fumble with your clothes, and finally find it, a small speck amongst the white and black cloth. How Vil managed to find it was a mystery to you.
Vil rests his chin on the back of his hand, intelligent lavender eyes examining you, before he opens his mouth, gaze back to the fireplace. "I've been sent a marriage proposal."
"W-what?" You stiffen at Vil's words. It feels like your heart has stopped-and maybe it has. You've seen the letters, with delicate handwriting from princes, princess, and nobles all over the country, asking Vil for his hand in marriage. He had refused them all, never seeming to care of them. Until now.
He glances back at you, his violet eyes softening at the sight of you. He gets up from his seat, walking towards you with uncanny grace, with elegance fit for a queen. He places a pale hand on your cheek, and you lean into his cold touch, before he lets go, instead placing a slender finger under your chin, making you lift your eyes up towards his. Your eyes reflect in his, and you gulp not because your scared, but because of the way Vil looks at you with a sort of rueful gleam in his eyes.
"You are, of course, are coming with me." He states it like an order, and you nod.
"Of course, your majesty." The words leave a bitter taste in your mouth.
𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐓 - 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓
You had met the man at a hunting festival, not knowing who he was when your gaze landed on him. He was like a knight from a fairytale, shining under the autumn sun, and his emerald-green eyes had captivated you instantly, as did all the men and women had been when they met eyes with him.
He had presented his finest catch to you of all people. A fox, with fur as orange as the sun when it sets. He had smiled-quite charmingly. you grudgingly thought in your head-and had kissed the back of your hand. You had bashfully looked away, and the man had chuckled softly, his voice deep yet melodic. It made your heart thump in your chest, made you feel warm and your head spin liked you had taken a sip of sweet next and had immediately had fallen into a drunken stupor.
You didn't know who he was at the time.
Rook Hunt. The son of your father's worst nemesis, and, which made him your worst enemy too. It was your obligation, your duty, to hate him just like your father had hated Rook's father. Just like how your mother, who stirred her tea as she glanced at the Hunt family with disgust did. You shouldn't have been captivated with Rook's foxlike charm, with his devilish smile and his malicious eyes that had tempted you to sin against your family.
But you did. Your heart was guilty, weighed heavy with secrets as you couldn't help but take the blonde-haired man's gloved hand. Couldn't help it when your heart thrummed inside your chest when his lips ever so silently grazed you ears as he whispered sweet nothings. Couldn't help but smile when he laughed, the sound like sweet birdsong.
You shouldn't have snuck out at night to see him, or looked out from your balcony as he sang love poems. Shouldn't have been enamored with him from the start.
"You look lovely, my child." Your mother's eyes are filled with love, her lips formed into a smile. "Perfect for your wedding."
You glance at the mirror, looking at the fabric of your wedding clothes, at the insignia of your family set pridefully on your chest. You can hear your mother softly whispering, "The count is luckily to be married to you, my sweet child." And it rings in your head, taunting you for having be tempted with Rook Hunt's sweet words and glistening eyes.
The count was not Rook Hunt, your parents would have committed every sin in the book before that would happen. No-the count was some random man, someone who wasn't your beloved. Someone who you would stay for the rest of your life with.
You smile at your mother, weak and wavering. "Mother, please," you laugh, a small sound in the big room. "your laying the praise a little thick." Your mother clicks her tongue and squeezes your cheek.
Little did she know how you glance at a small vial on your stand, blue in color, corked and hidden away.
Little did she know how you take the vial, curling your hand around it as you make your way to the alter, the count already there and dressed to the nines.
Little did she know that her only child would meet their end in their marital chambers.
𝐑𝐔𝐆𝐆𝐈𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐂𝐂𝐇𝐈 - 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐁𝐋𝐄'𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆
"You took my ring." You grit your teeth, extending out a gloved hand towards the skinny, raggedy boy-the thief who had stolen your ring in the first place. "I demand that you give it back, peasant."
The boys blue-gray eyes are laced with mischief, and he leans in, hands behind his back. "What ring?" He drawls. "I think you got the wrong person." He toothily grins, and you can feel your eyes twitch. The audacity-
"Don't play dumb with me." You tap your heeled boots on the gravely road as you look down at him, and he tilts his head. So he wants to play innocent, huh? "If you don't give me back my ring, I'll call the guards. Maybe then you'll fess up."
The boy rubs his bruised arm in thought, and you gaze at it with a pang of guilt. You didn't cause those wounds-no, you weren't that heartless-, yet it still made you feel sympathy. The boy catches you looking, and hides his arm away, concealing the swift moment with a charming smile.
"Is their some sentimental value with this ring or something?" The boy asks. "'cause most nobles wouldn't really care. I mean, they can always afford a new one." He says the last part with a hint of bitterness in his voice.
"It's my engagement ring." The words leave your mouth, leaving a sour feeling on your tongue. "Look, I won't call the guards. I'll pay you for the ring, how about that?"
The boy places a finger on his chin, thinking before tossing you a small, shiny ring. The ring had a diamond, embedded with sapphires around it shaped like a star, and you fumble with the tiny thing before holding it firm in your grasp.
"So, may I know what your name is, peasant?" You smile. "I believe I should know the name of the person I'm gonna be sending who knows how much gold to."
"Ruggie, Ruggie Bucchi." The boy-Ruggie, grins. "And yours?"

It is a known fact that faes and humans cannot coexist peacefully with eachother.
The faes are to petty, to fickle of a creature. To deny them is to wound their pride, their oh-so precious ego that they stroke. They are creatures of magic and beauty, of fantasy and fiction. They believd they are better, more superior, and thus cannot be trusted when they whisper sugared words in your ear.
The humans are to destructive, to ruinous. They come to the lands, and destroy everything in sight, from trees and flowers to women and children. They come and pillage, destroying the world's flora and fauna. They are made from mud and dust, and cannot compare to the fae's beauty in the slightest.
That is why war was inevitable.
Yet here you are, in the fae capital with a battalion at hand and your leader as you negotiate peace, and your eyes meet the pink-red of the general besides the enemy queen, and you scowl. He, however, smiles quite charmingly, and you bite your tongue trying to prevent a curse from slipping out of your mouth.
Lilia Vanrouge, or better known as General Vanrouge, is the right-hand of his queen. He led his armies to war, and was-no, is, a ruthless killer. Someone who does not show mercy, and even though you practically begged your king not to go into fae territory to negotiate peace, the absolute nut-job had agreed to.
The meeting is adjourned, the queen of the fae already disappearing in a haze of green flame-probably disgusted by having to stay another second where nasty, little humans are, and your can hear your king's footsteps echo softly as he leaves the room. No one remains, and the silence is deafening, except for one other in the huge chamber besides you.
"Don't you want to accompany your ruler? I'm sure he is wondering where his little dog is." Lilia drawls, chin resting on his hand as his eyes-those damn, blood-red eyes-gazed upon you with mild interest.
"He has soldiers accompanying him," You reply, voice stiff. You frown as he leans in, eyes alight in the dim lighting of the room.
"Do you think mere humans could stand against the fae?" He doesn't say it mockingly, his voice is filled with curiosity that irks you. The fact that he thinks its impossible.
You walk up to him, and his eyes widen in what seems to be surprise. Surprise that you relish in, as you look down upon him. "Theres more then one way to bring down a fae, General Vanrouge," you whisper, the words echoing in the silent chamber. "Iron isn't the only thing that can kill."
Lilia's lips curl up into a grin.

[OVERVIEW]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mafias are no joke.
They're dangerous. Violent. Some more than others. Yet it has been covered in gold, glamorized til the point of no return. Yet it isn't senseless murder, but only a few words can deem any murder from senseless to meaningful. It's best to not interact with them at all, it's best to simply know they exist and avoid them. Unless you desire end with them, or below.
Tumblr media
Splattered drops of rain beat down on his form, shoes slippery as he turned down alleyways, shoulders and body slamming into the stone walk, nearly falling over himself to run away. His sight blinded by his wet hair, and clothes stained in dirty and blood.
He's been deemed a thief.
He can hear the loud shouts of orders from behind, the barking of dogs, and heavy footsteps that didn't stop and falter in the rain, an unmoving force that was moving faster than the boy. He continues twisted and turning, praying to any god, that he survives, he has to survive, the people have to know. They must. He stumbles out into the empty street, hands frantically wiping at his face, gasping and spitting out water, a moment to slow.
The sound of a gun rings out, ripping through the flesh of the boy, his body within moments topping over from the sheer-velocity and force, feeling the bullet rip through skin and rest painfully within his back. He blinks the tears from his eyes, as his body lands face first into the cobble stone ground.
Lifeless.
Those chasing him slow, staring the dead body be continuously beat down by the rain, and the rolling crackle of thunder, there's a hushed spread of commands, 'Grab the body. We'll show the Boss.' Voice is blank, as if almost grieving at the unnecessary loss of human life, before turning to his partner- his "friend", who easily tucked the gun away. A shark-like smile spread across his lips.
"He was wanted dead—Now he's dead." He merely shrugs, while the man with a spade symbol upon his face scowls.
"He was wanted alive. You went against the rules." The merman merely shrugs once again, making a 'blah' sound at the mention of the Queendom's rules.
A senseless murder to one, meaningful murder to another.

Death Certificate letters are the worse letters to ever have to deliver.
The road bumpy beneath your bike wheels, your leather satchel within your metal basket. You offer smiles to those you pass, those who worked in the gardens, picking and planting fresh vegetables and fruits, a group of older women and young girls, that always offer a wave and without outfail a dinner invitation, always adding 'the more the merrier' and there right, it's fun to not eat alone.
You ride your bike over twisted and bends, passing a small library where the owner watered his windowsill flowers, waving at you, and you wave back with a small smile. He's an old man, wrinkly and gray, with a single wooden leg, some say he got it during a fight with the Octavinelle Mafia, though most the others think he's lying, but a good lie never hurt no one.
The Ramschackles are diverse and lively midday, pressing on the breaks as a young man and his children blocked the road, letting his cattle walk through, leading the towards the pasture on the other side. He greets you, asking about your day, as his son climbs the old fencing shouting for the cows to go faster, and his daughter begs to ride the cows, pulling on the pants of his father. You remember the birth of the twins, nearly 6 years ago. You can't help but smile, giving each kid a piece of candy which you got from visiting Heartslabyul, which the father silently mouths a 'thank you', his wife had died in the last fall.
Once the last cow passed, your sped off, familiar with every bump and lump, though all the large rocks having been removed by a group of men, promising to make the road safer for you, and they did. Even covering up the major holes with dirt to make it even. Even amongst the mass of houses and homes, you can see the house that the certified was for, Ms. Louis, a widower, and now, a mother without her son.
Turning a sharp curve and halting in front of her home, kicking down your kickstand and climbing off your bike, yanking you satchel from the basket and fixing down your hair and clothes as you walked up the narrow stops, skipping the creaky board, as your rummaged through your bag. Before you can even knock, the door swings open, just as you grab the envelope.
"[Name], you're here." She speaks with a soft inhale, as if she ran from her kitchen to answer, she has deep eye bags, and her black hair is messy and undone. She attempts to smile, but you can tell by the shakiness of her hands, she's panicking—scared.
You pass her the envelope, yet you can't speak, far too afraid that your voice would crack, and you'd witness this woman all five stages of grief before she could open the yellow envelope. She doesn't wait til your leave, ripping off the edge immediately, you can see her green eyes begin to water, she already knows what awaits her. She tosses the packaging aside, hands running over the thick cardboard paper, fingers tracing the words of her son. She breaks down in sobs, and you hold her, feeling her frail form lean against you, arms wrapped around your shoulder, as she cries and speaks in broken sobs.
"H-he's dead! They-They kill-killed him!" She hiccups, voice cracking, you can feel her already broken heart shattering. Her crying gains the attention of others, some already sure of the fate that her son befell the moment he left the safety of the Ramschackles. Others asking to look at the certificate, as your pull away, watching them read over the piece of paper.
"Bullshit! That boy was no thief!" A neighbor, he shots angrily, holding the paper firm in his hand, as he points to Ms. Louis. "He ain't no thief!" His wife pats his arm, wiping the tears from her eyes, shaking her head at her husband's outburst. "He ain't mean it, Liz. He just hurtin""
"I know. I know." Liz let's put an exasperated laugh, shaking her head as she wipes her tears, walking down the steps and taking the paper back. "I know my Tommy was doing good," she lets out a shaky sigh, before turning back to you, "he always does good. Forgive me, it's been long since I've cried so hard. I know my boy wouldn't want be sobbin' over him like that."
"It's good to cry." You respond with a smile.
"They'r right. Tears ain't hurt nobody.” The husband speaks with a firm headnod, wagging his finger as Liz merely laughs making her way the steps to her house.
"Im in the process of finishin' that onion soup, with the chicken, if you wanna stay for lunch." The husband and wife immediately agree, the wife promising to get the newest loaf of bread to eat with it, as the husband made his way towards the house. Liz glances at you, hopefully. You feel bad, but pat your satchel.
"I got a few more letters, but save me a bite." You hop down the steps as she laughs, climbing back onto your bike and ringing the bell a few times, with a chuckle, before racing off.
The Ramschackles have always and will always be resilient.

"You had not the jurisdiction!"
Within a room of Crowley Hall, surrounding a table stands seven people. The Red-Rose Tyrant, The King of Beasts, The Deep-Sea Merchant, The Silly Sultan, The Fairest, King of the Underworld, and lastly The General. Tension is thick, palpable, you can almost taste it on yourself tongue.
Vil Schoenheit, The Fairest, was the first to speak, a clear scowl upon perfectly glossed lips, hair pulled back into a bun, clearly tired and annoyed. "Azul, we were supposed to agree,"
"And we did. Forgive me if Heartslabyul was too slow. Floyd is of course an uncontrollable force, and we wanted him dead, no?"
Azul Ashengrotto, The Merchant Of The Deep, has a faux pout, his voice drenched in fake concern, a heavy trench jacket hanging over his shoulders, eyes behind silver glasses beyond amused.
Riddle Rosehearts, The Red-rose Tyrant, stucks in a breath through his teeth, clearly angry, with the furrowing of his red brows. "You had no right. Under law, Floyd's head he be placed along my wall. Our suspect was not supposed to be killed."
"He was a thief. Isn't theft against your laws?" Leona Kingscholar, The King Of Beasts, stands directly infront of Riddle, still across the wide table, a deeply bored expression upon his face, yet his eyes seemed to glow in amusement.
"Exactly. I don't see why I'm such a target for such hate." Azul lets out a pitiful sigh, causing Riddle to slam his hands against the table, nearly knocking over various glasses, he glowers at the mafia boss of Octavinelle.
"If he fought back! You mercilessly killed him upon Heartslabyul soil! Do not deny it!"
"He had information, why give him a chance to live," Azul pushes up his glasses, a cruel grin spreading across his face, "unless you were working with him?"
Leona shakes his head, eyes fluttered close. "For shame."
"That wouldn't be a good look upon Heartslabyul either." Azul continues, before a clearing of a throat cuts him off.
Lilia Vanrouge, The General, the stand in for Diasomnia's Boss. "He had information. Information he shouldn't have. Information that resulted in his death. A shame it is..."
"It was senseless." Riddle crosses his arms, a scowl deep on his face still.
"But the information made it meaningful." Azul continues to keep his artificial smile, eyes on Lilia. The fae merely clears his throat, crossing his arms, a smile child-like grin on his face.
"We cannot go back in time to do differently. Our next step of action is to find if he could've possibly told another person. Any ideas Idia?"
Idia Shroud, The King Of The Underworld, his eyes dart across him screen before nodding. Using his fingers to spread out a image of the Ramschackles, showing the image of a tiny hovel with a rickety iron fence and old stone pathway.

"Hey, [Name]! This is absolute gold! I gotta tell ya!"
A young boy with blonde hair, and freckles walks beside you as your push your bike. He's holding a letter that you delivered to him simply moments ago. He waves it excitedly. He was a mafia fanatic, loved anything and everything about the place. To the point it had you concerned sometimes. The letter you had given him was from the Thomas Louis, or Tommy.
"Let me tell ya! If I get this to the news! Ooh Wee! Imagine! All that money." He punches the hair, and you shake your head.
"Don't go messin' with the Mafias."
"They aint gon' hurt no nobody like me." Henry has always been excitable, there's not a moment you haven't seen him without a smile that rivals the sun. "Well, I ain't gon' be a nobody for long." He voice quiets, but the smile is still there. Silence.
He opens his mouth to speak again, until a familiar chime of a bell and a holler of 'Henry' sounds loud and clear. "COMIN' MA!" He glances back at you with a grin. "Tomorrow. Imma tell you all about my big plan."
"I'm excited to hear about it." You watch him let out a happy laugh, before running off with a final wave. You spot your home in the distance, picking up your pace, as your place your bike against the metal fence.
Now, you love your home within the Ramshackle, your Lil hovel, and your small garden with your cat. You love it, truly you do. You love your neighbors, and you love the festivals that the Ramshackle holds. You love it all.
Your leather satchel hangs off your hip, filled to the brim with different letters and papers from your most recent trip. You just returned from Scarabia, having a good easy delivery for the old man that lives up the street, and after a long day, you're finally home.
You push past the old rickety iron gate, and up the stone pathway, eyes searching along for your familiar feline friend. He usually waits for you. Hopping the old creaky steps, until you stop right in front of a card. Perfectly placed with gold decor. 'For Ramschackle's Perfect. You're invited to Crowley Hall' written directly on the front. Ramshackle's Perfect was only a joke type name among the people that lived in, said Ramshackle.
Who else would call you that?
You pick up the letter, glancing around the porch, before slipping inside your home, and closing the door behind you. Crowley Hall, also known as the Grand Dinner Hall, a place where all important events took place, especially the meeting of all seven mafia leaders. Why would someone invite you with no other information?
You flip the card, there's nothing else. Your shoulders slump, you shouldn't go. Yet, you stare at the words once again. It could be important or lead to trouble for the other people of Ramshackle. Your eyes drift over to your clock. It was only 7 pm.
You had five hours.
You glance back at the thick fancy card. Five hours before 12. You feel a familiar purr, and glance down at your cat, Grim rubbing against your legs. Five hours, and well, as long as you're back before midnight. You'll be fine.
Right?

What A Time

Tumblr media
Sebek Zigvolt
It has been about seven years since you graduated from NRC. You were the school therapist, actually, for the college you had graduated from, and you got properly compensated for it. You had decided that going back to your world would not be the best option for you, so you stuck around and made a life for yourself.
When school was not in session, you resided in the Queendom of Roses. There were many magicless people there, and you lived somewhat close to your former senpai Trey Clover. There were a few times where you would see him in his family’s bakery on your way home, and you both would have a quick cup of coffee as you caught up with each other’s lives. Riddle was actually your doctor, and Ace and Deuce weren’t too far either.
You were there when Deuce graduated from the police academy, and you all celebrated at Trey’s bakery. On the bus home that day, you looked at the photo taken, with Ace smashing Deuce’s face into the cake that said ‘Congratulations, Officer Spade!’ All of the Heartslabyul crew was present there, including you and Grim.
Unfortunately, Grim was no longer with you. It was understandable, as cats don’t live as long as humans, but it still hurts. In the graduation photo, he was in your arms with such a wide grin as everyone else posed around you. Ace and Deuce were beside you, Epel was in front along with Ortho, Jack was behind you… and so was Sebek.
Oh, you hadn’t seen Sebek Zigvolt in so many years. At first, you both had an open correspondence until he stopped writing back. You figured that maybe he was busy as one of Malleus’s knights… or a general at this point because you were invited to his promotion. Seeing the castle was definitely an experience, and not a lot of people liked that a magicless human was there. However, you laughed it off with the half-fae as you congratulated him.
That was four years ago, though. The only reason you knew he was still alive was because you still talked with Silver. It wasn’t frequently, maybe once every few months, but you knew that everyone was doing well. Lilia had retired and taken up residence in a small cottage, and you talked to him as well and more frequently.
During your years at NRC, you and Sebek became a tad romantically involved. He had asked you, in a rather harsh and loud manner, to accompany him to the village at the bottom of the mountain because there was a park in the center and he thought it would be a nice date location. You both ended up having a picnic there, and you laid back in the grass just talking about the book you had both read recently.
It was one of the few times where he wasn’t going on a rant about Malleus, and instead he was talking about one of his own passions. You laid your head on his chest, using it as a pillow, as he had an arm wrapped around your torso. It was only when you saw that a few fireflies made their appearance that you realized it was already very late at night. You were worried about getting back to campus, but Sebek was still clinging onto you. He whispered something about not wanting to go yet. It actually shocked you, so you allowed you two to stay there for ten more minutes.
He wasn’t telling you something, and he didn’t tell you until graduation day. Being a knight of Malleus meant that he might not make it out alive from battle one day, so he never desired a romantic partner who would be heartbroken not only of him being gone constantly, but also having the possibility of receiving the news from his comrades-in-arms of his passing just looming over them on a day-to-day basis.
The half-fae was just looking out for you.
You asked if you could still send letters, and he told you… no, he promised you that he would respond to each one. A tear was brought to your eye as you remembered his promise from that day. You poured yourself a small glass of wine after wiping said tear away, and you focused on the student files on your desk.
After about an hour and a half later, you come across a small flier in one of the cases. It was for a reunion of sorts, and there were fliers sent to each person who was invited. You remember seeing Crowley place the spell upon the pieces of paper so they would go to the students who graduated with you in the same year. Spouses and significant others were invited as well, but children were not. Would Sebek be there?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, there was a staff meeting. The Headmage we all know and hate was being as eccentric as usual, and he started going over details about the reunion that was going to take place. The teachers who were teaching at the time and the ones who were teaching presently would be invited along with the students from your year, and you had to admit that you were very excited about seeing everyone once again.
It would be a rather casual occasion. The courtyard would be decorated, and it would be an outdoors event. You were actually the one along with Professor Crewel who decided on the theme of it, and he even drew out a diagram of sorts. There would be a few fairy lights situated in the trees, casting a small but elegant glow. It would have a picnic-at-the-park vibe to it, for obvious reasons.
Because everyone attending was of-age, there would be a bar area as well as catering, so tables needed to be brought out. A bunch of students actually volunteered to help you in setting up after school, and you were so grateful for them. Their reasoning was because you had helped them, so they felt as though they needed to help you. They helped bring out the picnic benches as well as a few blankets, and they helped wrap the fairy lights.
You hugged each and every one of them as you thanked them for helping out, and you put each of their names on a list so they would be able to get an extension on any assignments they were supposed to have completed that night. You also communicated to their Housewardens about their whereabouts and how any punishment against them would be lifted. They thanked you and wished you a happy night before going to their dorms.
It was truly a wonder how an act of kindness could get students to respect you so much.
Then, you checked the time on your phone and you realized that you only had thirty minutes to get back to your teacher’s quarters to get ready for the reunion. You ran down the hallways to the Mirror Chamber, entering the mirror that would get you to your own dorm. Since you were a teacher, you no longer resided in Ramshackle. However, because you were now in a position of a bit more power, you did threaten Crowley to renovate the rickety dorm or tear it down completely so that no one would have to live like you did if they were unfortunately summoned by the Mirror like you did.
Once you opened the door to your room, you checked and saw that you had arrived within 7 minutes, leaving 23 minutes. Luckily, because it was a casual thing, you didn’t need to change your makeup from the day, so you just opened your wardrobe to find a pair of jeans as well as a white button-up shirt. Again, classy but casual.
That only took about 5 minutes, so you had 18 minutes to get back. You weren’t in too much of a rush, so you had a few moments to catch your breath on the way back. You went through the mirror again and through the hallways to the courtyard. You saw the bartender and the caterers setting up their things, and you asked them if they needed any help at all.
“Hey, you look familiar!”
You turned around to see Ace, and a large smile made its way on both of your faces. You laughed as you gave him a hug, telling him how good it was to see him after a while. He led you to one of the picnic benches as you both started catching up with each other since the beginning of the school year. He apparently started talking to someone, one of the parents from the elementary school he was the basketball coach of.
After a few moments, Deuce showed up with his fiance, Grace, and they joined you at the table you both were sitting at. The former Professor Trein walked into the courtyard with a cane and greeted you all, asking how your time as a staff member at NRC was going and how Ace’s coaching was going as well as Deuce’s job within the Police Department and engagement. It was definitely a different side of your old professor that you had not seen in a while, but the conversation was nice.
More students from your year started arriving, and you greeted each and every single one of them. A few of them asked where Grim was, and they immediately noticed the sadness in your eyes. They put two and two together, and gave you their condolences before moving on to greet everyone else.
By far, you have seen Ace, Deuce, Epel, Ortho, Idia’s tablet that is accompanying Ortho, Jack, Mr. Sam, Professor Trein, Coach Vargas, and obviously Professor Crewel… but no Sebek thus far. It made you a bit sad, thinking that he was probably too busy to come to the reunion, and Jack was able to pick up on it. Everyone knew about your old complicated relationship with the knight, but the wolf here had always known about it due to him being a good person to talk to since he would listen.
“You should enjoy your time. How about I get you a drink?” He offered while putting his hand on your shoulder. It was lucky that the drinks were free, otherwise you might have to start a tab. You didn’t plan on drinking excessively, but you did wish to toast everyone at one point in the night… night… knight…
At that moment, Jack came back with two small glasses of whiskey; one for you, one for himself. The way you just quickly knocked it back surprised your old friend, and he grew quite worried. However, you did not go for another one, so he guessed it was alright. You saw his look of surprise and let out a bit of a sad laugh.
“I treat students who have the same problems you all did. Only difference is that I can drink now to soften the blows.”
You thanked him for bringing you a drink and just sat with him, talking about your lives. He told you about his wife, Thalia, and his daughter, and he even showed you pictures and you just cooed and awed over how much she looked like him. You had a smirk on your face as you said that you would bet five thaumarks that he cried when he first held his baby, and he looked away in shame.
“Oh, yes he did! He cried more than on our wedding day!”
A gasp made its way out of your mouth as you quickly jumped out of your seat and hugged the woman who called your name. It had been a while since you saw any of the Howls, and she hugged you back just as tightly. She sat down next to her husband and across from you at the table as the three of you launched into a rather lively conversation.
It was nice to hear how well they were doing, but it was your turn to spill about your life. It had been stressful, as exams were coming up soon, but no overblots have occurred since you started your job as the NRC school therapist and guidance counselor. All of the students knew and respected you, and you told Jack and his wife that they helped set up the whole event because of you.
“The students must mean a lot to you, just as you mean to them if they helped you without expecting anything in return. They kind of remind me of how you were back when we were still students.”
You all laughed at Jack’s statement, reminiscing how many people you helped without being paid back. You made a joke about how you were going to go around collecting payments, and that almost made Jack spit out the whiskey he sipped while Thalia was laughing until she was on the verge of crying.
However, as she was about to respond, Headmage Crowley clinked a fork against his wine glass to gather everyone’s attention. He stood at a podium in front of the fountain, and everyone gathered around. You noticed that a certain green-haired general was still not present, but you snapped back to where your attention should be.
“Hello and welcome, former students of Night Raven College! In a few moments, the sandwich bar will be open and ready to serve, but I would like to say a few words. First, I am glad to see you all as well as your spouses and significant others. I hope the refreshments are to your liking, but I do encourage you not to go overboard, as we will take pictures.”
Everyone laughed for a few seconds, before settling down.
“Second, we are still expecting more people to come in. If you do not see some friends, they may still be coming. Unfortunately, Grim is no longer with us. We will toast to his memory later on in the night, and Dr. L/N will lead us in that.
“Third, the grounds are not yours to destroy. We trust that you will be respectful with the campus as you were when you were enrolled here. After all, students still go here, and they worked hard on setting this up for you all. I know that I am talking to you as though you were children, but I thought it would do good to mention that. Thank you.”
Applause sounded all around before the crowd dispersed to go make a line at the sandwich table. Everyone thought that you should go first, since you set everything up. The sentiment was so moving, but you felt bad as they pushed you to the front of the queue. You grabbed what you wanted as quickly as you could. You saw some tuna that was set out, and a hint of sadness hit you before you moved on.
You went back to your seat from before and started to dig in. You were joined by Ace, Deuce, and Grace. Coach Trappola here made a comment about how this reminded him of those days in the cafeteria where you all would be planning to take down the next overblot. You all laughed before you started talking to Deuce’s fiance, asking her about the ring and where they met and stuff like that.
She asked where your date was, and you told her that you didn’t have one. Grace was a bit embarrassed for asking such a personal question, but you decided to tell her that you never really sought out anyone. It made her feel a bit better knowing that, and you just started asking about the future wedding that would take place. Poor Deucey was so flustered as the love of his life was answering about the plans thus far.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had been here for about two hours at this point, and you really stuck to yourself. You had a few moments before you had to make the toast, and you had made sure to announce to everyone that it would be recommended for them to grab a beverage of any variety. You had your speech planned out before, and you had it on your phone. However, the nervousness was crawling into your skin.
“You’ll do great, Y/N!” Ace said.
“Yeah, I bet it’ll be beautiful!” Grace assured. Deuce just nodded in agreement.
Taking a few deep breaths, you make your way to the podium and shout for everyone’s attention. It was a larger crowd than you anticipated, and for a few seconds you were just scanning through it. Snapping back to your notes, you cleared your throat and began.
“As Headmage Crowley stated before, Grim passed away a few years ago. You all might remember him as the cat that ate everything, or you might have thought he was annoying, or less than smart, or even selfish. But, in his last moments, he told me something that I will now tell you.
He told me to not be sad about his passing, and that I should continue helping the students that go to NRC just as I always have. Being enrolled here meant everything to him, and so I serve the students and staff in his honor. He became a powerful mage, learning how to control his magic. He may have not made the best decisions all of the time, but he tried, and that’s what matters.
Out of anyone, he was my closest friend; not only because we shared a dorm or even a scholarship, but because he was there to push me when times got tough. He challenged me, and now my capacity has expanded greatly because of it. If he were here today, he would be overwhelmed by the amount of support you all have shown.
Thank you.”
You had to really reel it in, trying to keep the tears from rolling down your face. The crowd erupted in applause before you raised your glass of water, and shouted into the microphone, “to Grim!”
“TO GRIM!” Everyone shouted, and took a sip of their drinks.
Ace came up to the side and helped you from the step of the podium, but before you took his hand you searched the crowd one last time. That was when you caught a hint of mint-colored hair, and it got your attention within a few moments. Your hands started shaking a bit, and you suddenly felt nauseous. Your throat went dry and your heart was racing as you looked back at your friend who was starting to get concerned.
“He’s here…” you whispered to him, and his eyes went wide in realization. During your conversation with him at the beginning of the reunion, you explained the situation with Sebek. He went as far as to call him a stuck-up prick who either prioritized his job or just couldn’t accept that someone cared about him.
“Do you want to leave? Do you need another drink? Talk to me, Y/N.” Ace was asking questions that you weren’t really paying attention to, mainly because right behind him was the man that had you feeling so nervous. However, the general looked nervous as well… but your nervousness was slowly giving way to anger.
“I do need another drink, Ace. Could you get me a glass of wine?” He was a bit hesitant about leaving you alone, but you told him that you would go with him. That’s when both men realized what you were trying to do.
You were trying to ignore Sebek… just as he ignored you.
“Y/N, please, I need to talk to you.” The half-fae said earnestly. He was taking a huge leap of faith with this, but he fell.
“No. You know why? I have been sending you letter after letter and you ignored me. It’s your turn to be ignored.”
With that, you took hold of your friend’s arm and headed towards the bar, where you ordered yourself a glass of wine. You sure were glad that you drank some water and ate so that you wouldn’t be drinking on an empty stomach. However, unfortunately for you, your glass was snatched out of your hand and a gloved hand grasped your arm.
Maybe it was better that you didn’t drink that glass of wine, as the nausea you were feeling earlier resurfaced.
To say that you were nervous would be the understatement of the century. Seeing those green eyes that you used to love and get flustered at when you caught them staring at you in class were now causing feelings of disgust and betrayal. Your face portrayed your feelings quite well; looking revolted at Sebek’s hand.
You let out a sarcastic gasp, as you turned your head to look him in his eyes and said, “Well, well, well. If it isn’t the great General Sebek Zigvolt, grasping the arm of a lowly, magicless human! I never could have dreamed that I would have such an honor within my miniscule, insignificant life!”
“Y/N, please! I can explain-”
“EXPLAIN WHAT?! Explain how the only way I knew you were even alive was Silver being the one to write me back?! What can you explain, Sebek?! Explain how I was constantly trying to be understanding and making excuses for you?! ‘Maybe he’s busy’, ‘maybe he didn’t get my letters’. You know who proved me wrong?! LILIA!!! HE TOLD ME THAT YOU GOT MY LETTERS AND NEVER ANSWERED!!!”
At this point, everyone was staring at you two. Ace was trying to get you to calm down, and so was Thalia and Grace because they went over as well. Deuce, Jack, and Epel were pushing Sebek away, saying he had no right to just resurface after years of radio silence. Tears were falling down your face, and the general now had an inkling of an idea of just how badly he worried and hurt you.
“YOU PROMISED, YOU SON OF A BITCH!” You screamed, vision blurred with just more and more tears. The general was genuinely trying to fight against his former classmates, trying to get to you, but to no avail. The women were escorting you away, getting you another glass of water so that you wouldn’t get overheated. Ace stayed behind to smack sense into the former knight, and that he did.
By the time you had finished the glass of water that Thalia had gotten for you, Sebek had a handprint engraved onto his cheek. He didn’t try fighting back; he knew he deserved it. He promised you something, and he broke that promise and that broke your heart. Eventually, because Deuce texted Grace and asked if you were okay with speaking to the general, you both met up in your office.
You sat in your chair, and you motioned towards one of the seats on the other side of the desk. Your eyes were puffy, and he noticed it as he sat down. His chest hurt upon seeing you dab at the last of your tears with a tissue before you tossed it in the trash. You took a deep breath before looking into his eyes straight-on.
“Y-You have a nice office, Dr. L/N.” He said, breaking the… rather awkward… silence.
“Thank you. While you were climbing the ranks within the army, I was here… helping the students just like I always have.” You responded, very formally and professionally. For once, he hated it. He hated how estranged it made him feel from you.
“I shall get straight to the point, hu- I mean, Y/N.” You rolled your eyes at this; he really couldn’t go one sentence without pointing out that you were a magicless human. However, this magicless human managed to get a job at NRC, one of the most prestigious schools ever in Twisted Wonderland.
“I’m listening.” Your glare was ice cold. You leaned back in your chair, and crossed your legs, starting to get comfortable for the inevitable.
“I have no excuse for not answering your letters. I promised you I would, and I broke that promise, and I admit it and I give you my deepest apologies.” The proudest man you know… admitting that he was at fault? Well, this was new.
“Mhm. Go on. What exactly kept you from writing back?”
“I…” He looked hesitant. You leaned forward, an annoyed look plastered on your face.
“‘I…’ what? I waited four years for this. This better be good, or else I will demand that you either leave now or leave me be.”
“...I still love you, and I found it absolutely revolting. I thought that by not responding, my feelings for you would be forgotten. You remember that day where I told you that we couldn’t be together because I didn’t want the burden of me not coming home to lay on yours or anyone else’s shoulders. I dove right into work so that I could possibly forget about you and the love I had for you, but all that surfaced was regret.” At this he stood up, and started pacing back and forth, needing to move around so that he wouldn’t start yelling.
This surprised you more than you thought it would, and you actually heard his deep voice tremble with tears of his own. However, his voice was increasing in volume because of it anyways. You felt compelled to stand up as well, so that you could somewhat meet him at his level, and you leaned on one hip while putting your hand on it and waited for him to finish.
“But every single day, I was tormented by the thought of you being with someone else. You deserved better than a life where your husband’s return was unpromised. You deserved better than a life where your husband can’t dedicate any time to you because he is too preoccupied with his job. You still deserve better.
“However, my heart still beats for you. I wished that I didn’t break your heart that day because it goes against my virtues as a knight and what my heart is telling me. I declined every invite given to me if there was even a small chance of you being there because I didn’t want to bring you any more pain than you were already going through.
“After all this time, though, it seems as though I put you through too much worry and stress anyway.” Tears were making their way down his face as he had a shard of a smile. His voice was definitely shaky, and you found yourself being drawn closer and closer to him.
“Would you, and I am not one to repeatedly ask for the same thing, forgive me and allow me to make it up to you?” He was standing right in front of you, vision blurred slightly as he looked into your eyes.
You were a bit taken aback, but you took a big breath. You prayed to the Sevens that you would not regret this, but you reached your hands up to cup his face and wipe his tears away with your thumbs. He couldn’t read your face, but you suddenly pulled him in so that your lips were on his. His eyes went wide open, barely able to comprehend what was happening.
Just after a few seconds, though, he melted into it, and even started kissing you back. He was so happy to finally have you back in his arms after so many years.
All of a sudden, there was a knock on the door, and it was Deuce and Grace, checking up on you two. You quickly broke the kiss, looking at Sebek once again. His gaze was filled with such an overwhelming amount of love that it made your chest feel a bit warm. Unfortunately, you had to confirm to your friends that you both were still alive and unscathed

A lengthy thought wall about the recent RT shutdown and DillonGoo Studios' interest in acquiring RWBY - I speculate and entertain some hopium about the pros that could come with it and why all in all, impossible it may be, it's probably the best shot we have for RWBY.
Some rwde cause it mentions Shane's letter and nobody likes that.
I've been reading a lot, a lot of the various discussions around RWBY's fate and Dillon Goo Studio's (henceforth shortened to DGS) interest in acquiring it. Here's my overall evaluation everything so far:
This goes without saying but this is obviously an optimistic take on the matter, I wanna talk moreso about the pros rather than the logistics of whether DGS can afford it, whether you think it's just clout-chasing, etc.
Dillon's a former RWBY animator and a fan of Monty's work. No matter what you think of Monty's style of action, in the greater public sphere, RWBY is known and liked precisely for that and largely that alone, period. Only RWBY fans who are already invested in the show will mention story or characters - for the majority of people, i.e. future RWBY fans, the action is the main selling point, and DGS clearly can deliver on this.
Dillon himself is at least amicable with most of CRWBY and likely open to negotiate with them given prior work history. For any other media corporation, consulting the old IP holders of a defunct company is a minor formality at best or even a laughable waste of time. And if you want to bring up a certain almost 10-year-old letter and the person working with Dillon who wrote it, there are plenty in the comments section who would agree with me that it's not as big a dealbreaker as one might think, given the company the letter largely condemned is well dead and buried. I won't go further into that matter.
DGS is very community-oriented - they're very intimately familiar with 3D animation and produces creator-friendly content like the Goo Engine which helps future animators inspired by RWBY to make similar anime-style 3D content. Every single RWBY fan animator whose work we enjoyed benefits from this acquisition - all of whom can grow into future animators for the series, intimately familiar with its trademark action style.
DGS is probably the only genuine fan of RWBY that has a remote chance of acquiring the IP with the express motivation of using the IP creatively. This can be clearly seen in the steady improvement of their animation content over the years and desire to push the medium. All other candidates are corporations whose motivations with RWBY are, more likely than not, going to be entirely financial (not necessarily a bad or unhealthy thing, but it's a factor).
If RWBY stays under WB or given off to Crunchyroll? They have no stake in RWBY beyond pure business. They have no interest in what's best for RWBY or its growth, only how it will be most profitable or recoup the losses from RT. The only companies I can see being more creatively invested in RWBY are ArcSystem Works who implemented RWBY in Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, or Shaft that animated Ice Queendom, but those are both Japanese companies unlikely to go all-in on a foreign IP - especially given that these studios usually adapt other IPs, not buy them outright.
DGS is invested in RWBY. Their entire studio's style is built on RWBY-esque action animation. Acquiring RWBY more or less guarantees it'll become their main flagship series and their main investment, whereas with WB, Crunchyroll or other big platform, RWBY is nowhere near prolific enough to be much more than another shelf-filler in their library. At worst, Warner archives RWBY for eternity and at best, they only bring RWBY out for tie-ins and crossovers to prop up their larger DC properties. Why give RWBY the spotlight when they own the likes of Justice League and Looney Tunes?
DGS may not be the most plausible choice, but it's clear that unless some big company like ArcSystem Works or something throws their hat in the RWBY ring, DGS is far and away the people's favourite, even gaining approval from JJ Grelle (Tyrian's VA), who quite notably refused to reprise their role for Rooster Teeth.
DGS is still very much an indie studio which IMO RWBY has flourished the most under, the time period where it retained a certain unpolished energy that made you invested in watching it improve and grow. I don't want to watch a RWBY that uses its precious time under a new studio to just go by the numbers and coast by on its existing fanbase. I want to watch a RWBY that grows, innovates and takes risks, that impresses and draws new and old fans in the way it does for every single person that has watched the Red Trailer for the first time.
I think a lot of folks have a preconceived notion that RWBY has to continue on the exact same production value as V9 left off, but that never had to be the case. I think a return to a much more subdued production with smaller teams focusing on strong individual episodes over large overarching narratives will be healthy for RWBY and more easily invite new fans, which it sorely needs if it wants to stay afloat this time around.
Whether this means a continuation to V10 or a reboot I don't know, but I know I'd rather take a RWBY that a new studio respects and will produce in a way that fits their strengths and limits, over trying and overreaching themselves to make something work that even Rooster Teeth failed to, or over no RWBY at all.
That's the crux of it: the worse alternative is no RWBY at all. CRWBY and especially us as a fandom are in no position to be picky when that's the alternative. There's no such thing as a perfect deal, but this is about as sweet as they come. If the only hurdle is WB's refusal to sell, then that's on Warner. If the only hurdle is affording the IP, I, many others and no doubt other associates Dillon Goo Studios knows are likely to help them meet that price.
I do wanna stress, despite my optimism, I'm not asking to stake all our hopes on DGS as the saviour of RWBY, god no - the last thing I want is a weirdo Monty 2.0 cult and I doubt Dillon would want that either. I'm not saying the RWBY they'd make will be perfect or be equitable for everyone either - some compromises must be made and professionally speaking, whoever owns RWBY next has no legal obligation to make V10 or bring back anyone from CRWBY. Any such action is solely on the graces of the new IP holder and at the end of the day, I think whatever creates a healthier, longer-lasting future for RWBY should take priority over our sentiment or attachment.
But as things stand right now, if DGS isn't just farming Twitter likes and is honest-to-god serious about acquiring RWBY, and no better candidate presents themselves, this is about the best option we have right now, and I myself will be ready to help and contribute in whatever little way I can. Because I know the very real alternative is either a complete gamble on yet another faceless media subsidiary, or watching RWBY rot behind a vault for the next decade or more.

What are your thoughts on WR development overall and your thoughts on WR being developed/made canon in V10?
Ugh I am going to ramble about everything here I can feel it...well you asked for it. I apologize for none of it, and if you all hate me at the end well I don't mind.
Volume 6 and before are pretty much great. They go from kinda at odds to tentative friends, learning to trust, and rely on each other, best friends, pining over one and other and V6 was a loooot of WR for us to feast on.
Afterward I felt like it got sidetracked. There could be various reasons for this (in hindsight I feel like Penny being given a way bigger role so her death could hit harder is to blame for part of this because realistically how long has Ruby known Penny? A month?)
Even if you don't like the ship they're supposed to be canon best friends so I take personal issue with almost all of volume 9.
I think it was sloppy writing that didn't move the story forward, and even though I don't care about Bees I feel like they still got shafted since they basically were forced to confess to move things along, and them doing so made them miss out on the sister/supposed friend and her problems, and only showcased the worst sides of the relationship.
For example Yang let's Ruby scream at Weiss but only moves to do something when Blake gets yelled at. Blake and Ruby still have...less dialogue than Ruby does with Ren I think etc.
Jaune was too present merely because his entire deal took away from Ruby's imo.
I've said it before but frankly Nora falling and learning who she is away from Ren so when she sees him in V10 she's ready for the relationship is far more satisfying to me narratively.
Leave Jaune above ground so he has to deal with the fact that he thinks he failed his friends and they all died and let him learn from that experience instead.
This also doesn't take into account that Jaune's one interesting change in 9 (being old) is taken away via random deaging (although I guess this makes deaging canon and hey young maria this is how dwr can still win! more at 11!)
Generally when characters go through a volume you want some sort of arc for them to go and change through. Weiss gets none of that. Out of all the characters nothing really happens to her, and she doesn't change at all. She's just sad about Atlas. Neat.
There's no time for it just like there's no real time for Ruby.
In Ruby's own words 'gotta help Jaune right?' and they do. Ruby removes herself from the census, which is how its framed, and they stop to...help Jaune.
There are a few moments that are WR'ish in 9. The Nevermore summon, Weiss believing in Ruby, and calling her name first etc, but overall Weiss's main job is to backslide.
I said it before but in the market Neo, the perfect assassin is after Ruby, and they split up. Weiss goes 'gross nosehairs', and ditches her best friend who she already knows by that point is NOT doing well.
This is not Volume 1. This Weiss is not that petty, and she's literally had to manhandle corpses. The fact that she wouldn't stay near her canonical best friend, and leader is asinine, and only happens so she can be alone to meet the smith.
Even if Weiss can't help Ruby fight Neo she's an extra pair of eyes (and Neo doesn't care how crowded it is in the market), and just being there for Ruby can help.
With all that said RWBY is big into symbolism. When WR are together in almost all the side spin off material it means something. Manga Anthologies has them making heart eyes and flirting like every other page. Ice Queendom was a love letter to WhiteRose (precious?). The movies, etc.
When their weapons rest next to each other on screen like the Bees do? It means something. When their flowers break ranks to be near each other (and Weiss's flower is the lily please note)? This means something.
Ruby can stand and jump from missile to missile but has to wrap her arms around Weiss to stay seated?
If Chibi continues it's pattern of predicting things in the main plot then the fact that Weiss is the woodsman in the fairy tale means a loooot as in several versions of that fairy tale the woodsman marries little red after helping her deal with the wolf problem (which varies by the story).
They're the knight and princess for each other. Ruby comes into Weiss's live turns it upside down, and helps her change. Likes her for her genuinely and wants to be her friend at the start. Through this she changes the world for Weiss, and helps her grow, and Weiss in turn helps Ruby be the leader she can be.
But yeah I guess that's just friends things and they should date some guys they've had like a half a dozen lines with instead? I don't get it really.
She and Oscar punch each other in the face, and they talk about strategy. Oscar has a younger kid crush on her, and Ruby is awkward because that's her headmaster in this kids head. Oh right he went in for a hug she ignored. Peak romance.
Jaune and Weiss have almost no interactions, and when he saves her at Haven her response isn't to be like 'omg i love you' it's 'keep doing it i have work to do'. Are they friends now? Sure, but that's about as far as it goes.
It remains that outside of group hugs the only person that's allowed to initiate contact with Weiss almost all the time outside of battle is Ruby.
Ruby knows when she needs help and will guide her away when she needs it, but other people don't' touch Weiss unless she does it first because they know she doesn't like it...except Ruby.
I have tried to look at other relationships for them, and I honestly don't see them as realistic.
Even Penny would need a lot more development to make it work. I get that it's cute and wholesome but they've known each other for again a month, and Penny just defers to Ruby.
Ruby needs a partner and equal not a submissive enabler. That's a relationship you have with a pet, and not a person.
Now if Maria were young and hot that'd be different...
Anyway...
Tumblr media
Ruby and Weiss are partners. If they're allowed to have the much needed conversations they never seem to get, ie haven, ever after, Ruby's mom, everything, etc.
Then is it possible? Maybe. If they do go WR I suspect it'll be more hints, and slow ramp up until the final season.
I would expect it either on the eve of the final battle, or literally during it maybe as in Weiss gets feds up with waiting, and decides to do something about it.
More likely at this point is they'll both just end up single with maybe faint hints so fans can imagine what they want for it.
Would I prefer it if it was WR so the team can truly be family? Yes, but I don't even know if we're getting a volume 10 at all to be honest. The fact that it wasn't announced at the last festival, and we get an extended eppy, and then nothing after the last movie?
Not making me feel super confident. I could be wrong though. On many things. Except Young Maria.

Briar Valley Lore Dump!
Notes: This is in honor of Diasomnia chapter coming out. Most of the information my lore is from is from twst, disney, or general faery lore. This is for my Lilia story that I'm currently planning and this is honestly just for shits and giggles. This will change when I actually post the story but for now, it is an intro guide to all the world building that I did before Diasomnia chapter came out. I don’t mind getting questions since it will help flesh out this world a little more so don’t hesitate to message me about this!(This is also long btw so click at your own risk.)
The Draconia family is the second family to rule Briar Valley. It was once ran by a different fae family but the Draconias staged a successful coup d'état and gained the throne.
The Valley has been in two wars against the neighboring human kingdom due to humans wanting to expand their land for resource purposes. Both times Briar Valley has won and although the kingdoms used to have a friendly relationship with each other that is no longer the case.
The first war was caused by human greed for land and resources while the second also included revenge for what the faeries had done to them.
Many humans have immigrated into Briar Valley due to discrimination from their fellow humans. The Fair Folk of the Valley tend to stay away from them but most look down on them, but it was better than being hunted and being burned at the stakes. Little human towns are spread throughout the kingdom's lands.
Malleus's grandmother stepped down from the throne a little before the Second Human-Fae War started and his father was crowned king. After ten short years, he passed away and his mother came back to rule as queen regent in Malleus's place, who is technically the current King of Briar Valley.
The kingdom is most active at night as most of its residents are known to be nocturnal. The Briar Markets are busiest around this time and buyers often have to be careful when bargaining. The Fair Folk do not lie but their words can have double meanings so you might end up losing your first born child or buying a cursed item. Gold coins are accepted as well.
The kingdom is surrounded by forests and mountains so they are very rich in natural resources. Magic is also used in everyday life.
Not all villages are under Briar Valley but all pay a tithe for protection purposes, especially after humans arrived and desecrated their lands.
Maleficient was the one to overthrow the first ruling family and made peace with the first humans who hailed from the Queendom of Roses. Her daughter, Malleus's grandmother, was the one who went to war with them for disrespect to the lands and its residents after King Stefan went mad for more power.
Briar Castle as located at the highest peak of Briar Valley. With mountains acting as a natural barrier, leaving and entering the castle is near impossible without the use of some sort of flight magic. The Northern and Southern gates are the main ways to leave the castle but there are also hidden tunnels that lead down to the base of the mountain for the royal family, nobility, and any other residents in the castle. Secret passageways are also in the castle but are known to very few people.
While the Draconias may rule Briar Valley, there are seven noble families in Briar Valley in total that includes the Vanrouges, the Aldens, the Amaris, the Rannulfs, the Lavinias, and the Altairs. Each family specializes in something and all have pledged their loyalty to the Draconias when they first started to rule.
Courting rituals in the Valley often start with giving away a precious or sentimental item to each other and exchanging letters. Times are varied but most couples seem to exchange letters until the twenty-fifth moon where they meet in person (often times, it's not the first time they meet each other) and discuss their futures. Once again, timing and how these rituals go vary because of different cultures among the fae but most seem to start with exchanging an item of some sort.
Faeries tend to age at a slower rate than humans but most are fully-grown by the time they are a hundred years old. Unlike humans, faeries get stronger with age and they are also immortal. However, they are not un-killable and iron is one of the only things that can truly hurt them. Humans have used iron weapons against their wars with them. Knowing their true names will also have them in your control but that is usually the case with weaker faeries. Big names like the Draconias or the other noble families would not be affected by that as their magical prowess goes far beyond than just their names.
Fairy circles also tend to act as a teleportation tool. Although most faeries don't use it themselves, many humans or other beings that have stepped into one have reported having been teleported to the nearest fairy in the area. It's more of an annoyance to faeries and non-faeries alike but some of the Fair Folk do use it as a trap to make deals that are often in favor of them alone.
Faeries love music! Most often know how to play at least two instruments on top of knowing how to sing. Humans must be careful as the allure of their songs are very strong and they could end up dancing until someone either pulls them out or they die.
It is also good to note that you should be careful of what food you are being given as most of their food can put you in a deep trance and make you their servants or it can just kill you.
Fairies also tend to dislike humans as most of them do not like magic and tend to think of it as unnatural when it is very much natural in Twisted Wonderland. If a human has magic, they often offer teaching them how to wield their powers in exchange for something which could be your child or just some fresh honey.
If you noticed that a lot of deals involve children, it is because it is very hard for faeries to have their own. It is not impossible but it could take hundreds of years to produce one child to continue a family line and siblings are usually a hundred years apart. However, they often dislike being with someone that is not a faery as some considerate it a disgrace to their bloodlines or their lovers could die of old age, sickness, etc, while they continue to live on. They do make deals not involving children though.
Faeries do not lie because they can't. Most of their words and actions are carefully thought out to avoid being tricked by others and it is always best to think before you speak to any of them. You also have to be respectful and offending them could have grave consequences for you and your entire bloodline.

Chapter 1-3 [Sorceress!Yuu x OB!Characters]
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗SYNOPSIS: As you and Riddle begin to get along, you decide it's time to take the next step in Che'nya's plan.
♡︎ Warning: You and Riddle have a fight
Tumblr media
「 ✦ PREVIOUS ✦ 」 「 ✦ NEXT ✦ 」
There's nothing quite like starting the day peacefully. You rise from your comfortable bed, brush your hair, place your wig, put on some makeup (if you use it), and dress for the day. Peering out the window, you see the gardens alive with workers tending to them. Breakfast is sent to your room each morning, which you enjoy leisurely, relishing in having all the time you need. After some time, you step outside to soak up the sun and stretch your legs, observing the builders methodically bringing your vision to life.
"Proud of your design, nya?" Che’nya's sudden appearance startles you, nearly causing you to stumble. It's a mystery how he always manages to sneak into the palace, but here he is, gleefully observing with you, his floating head chuckling at your reaction.
"By the Seven, Che’nya! Stop doing that," you protest, but your friend doesn't seem bothered, engrossed in watching the workers alongside you.
In recent days, things have been peaceful. You'd had several encounters with Riddle, engaging in conversations about shared interests. You dared to think that the two of you had become friends. However, it saddened you to realize that after the construction or resolving the collar situation, chances were you'd probably never see him again.
"Thinking about Riddle?" Your purple-haired friend asked with a mischievous grin on his floating face. Your eyebrow twitched. Was it that obvious that you were preoccupied with thoughts of Riddle? "You always have that silly smile on your face when you think about him, nya~," Che’nya teased. He'd been a constant presence, showing up almost every day to tease you. The first time he saw you, he laughed at your design, claiming you'd be lucky if the building didn't collapse immediately. Since then, he'd taken to ask about Riddle and your interactions, and once he learned about the flour incident, there was no end to Che’nya's teasing.
“You're a pain, you know that?” You'd miss Che’nya once you left the Queendom. You watched as he pouted at your comment, but this time it was you who laughed at his reaction. “Maybe if I painted your face on the building, it would look better,” you teased.
Che’nya burst out laughing unexpectedly, clearly surprised by your silly suggestion. “So you do like me,” he teased with a wink, and you rolled your eyes at his playful antics.
You witness a guard approaching just as Che’nya vanishes into thin air. The guard, clearly breathless, hands you an envelope. “A letter from Prince Riddle!” You eagerly retrieve the envelope, wondering what could be so urgent for Riddle to send you a letter. With care, you open it and read its contents.
“My dear friend, Y/N,
I hope this letter finds you well. In appreciation for all your hard work and for showing me how to appreciate the fun side of things, I would like to bring you into my world.
Please, meet me near the rose labyrinth this afternoon.
Riddle Rosehearts”
This was a pleasant surprise, receiving a letter from Riddle. The first time you received one, you had to consult a dictionary to understand the eloquent words he used. You even suggested to him that, as friends, he could keep it simpler. Upon rereading the letter, you realized he wanted to meet you at the labyrinth. This was his first invitation somewhere. Did this count as a date? By the Seven, Y/N, it’s just a friendly stroll around the gardens. You try to compose yourself.
──── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ────
You waited for Riddle to arrive, not that he was ever late—after all, punctuality was his forte. Instead, you found yourself early, armed with plenty of free time. Walking through the labyrinth, you admired the meticulously tended roses and inhaled their fragrance. These recent days had been delightful. As you familiarized yourself with the Queendom, Riddle took on the role of a dedicated instructor, enlightening you about the kingdom's history, ensuring your understanding with meticulous care. He was indeed a skilled teacher.
“Y/N?” Riddle's voice echoed from the other side of the labyrinth as he searched for you.
“Over here!” Your voice carried through the maze, and as you emerged, you were met with Riddle's raised eyebrow. “I was just taking a stroll,” you offered as an explanation, attempting to justify your divergence from the agreed-upon meeting spot. But he simply chuckled, not taking the situation too seriously. Then, you noticed a small creature nestled in his hands—a hedgehog, its black eyes fixed on you. “A HEDGEHOG?” You exclaimed, dashing towards Riddle, thoroughly surprised by the cute little creature snuggled against his chest.
“There are more around the gardens…” he mentioned, a faint smile gracing his lips as he noticed your excitement. “If you'd like to see them.” His tone carried a hint of shyness, almost uncertain if his suggestion would meet your approval.
“Riddle, of course, I'd love to see them all!” Your eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. Who in their right mind would pass up such an enchanting moment surrounded by adorable creatures alongside Riddle? It would take someone utterly mad to decline such an opportunity.
With your response, Riddle's smile returns, and he guides you on a stroll through the gardens, leading to the hedgehog paradise you've been eager to see. Upon arrival, you marvel at the small creatures walking around and playing with each other. They all appear adorable and cuddly, and by the way, Riddle gazes at them, you can sense he feels the same way.
The two of you sit down on the grass, petting the small creatures as they slowly gather around, creating an endearing scene. Laughter ensues as the hedgehogs cuddle up together around the two of you. The moment feels like it's straight out of a fairy tale.
“How is everything outside?” you hear Riddle's voice. Turning to look at him, you find his focus on the hedgehogs, a slight sad smile on his face.
“It’s a big world,” you begin, unsure of what to say since you are also unaware of the world outside. "Costumes differ from place to place, climates change, and people may appear less kind or more..." You realize that your description is terribly generic, and Riddle laughs at your attempt.
“Is there a place you miss?” This time, his blue eyes focus on you, holding your gaze gently as he waits for your answer. While nothing specific comes to mind, you do find yourself missing the tea parties that Che’nya, Ace, and Deuce used to invite you to.
“A tea house!” you blurt out, struggling to articulate your feelings. “Once, while travelling, I found a peculiar-looking tea house. Everyone inside was somewhat crazy but fun to be around. It’s almost as if they make you feel like you belong there, allowing you to be yourself without the fear of judgment.” Reflecting on the collared people who faced ridicule and the fun atmosphere Ace, Deuce, and Che’nya created, you continue, “I'm sure you would love them.” As you pet one of the hedgehogs next to your leg, a sense of warmth fills the air.
“I wish I had as much freedom as you…” his voice sounds genuinely earnest. “Nothing much happens around here, aside from my duties, of course!” There is some urgency when he talks about his duties, he knows how important they are, but there is also a part of him that wishes for his life to be more than just that. “Sometimes, when I feel like relaxing, I visit an old friend. He owns a bakery in the city…” Your eyes widen as you seem to remember the person he is talking about. After all, it had been at that bakery that the two of you had met for the first time, even if Riddle wasn’t aware of it. “Oh, last time I went there, a cat fell on top of me!” His demeanour changes, and you can actually see him turning red, clearly mad about the situation he is describing. “How is it possible that people let their cats run free like that? How disrespectful to those around them!” Sweat starts building up on your forehead as you begin looking everywhere aside from Riddle’s face. This is becoming embarrassing. “I collared the owner of the cat, they deserved it!” As he continues describing your situation and that of others around the city, his voice slowly becomes arrogant. This is the first time you get to meet the Riddle that everyone sees as a tyrant, the Riddle that everyone hates. You had been having such a great time with Riddle in the past days that you forgot the reality of the situation – the way he treated you and the way he viewed others as if they were beneath him. Riddle isn't just a sweet boy who loves strawberry tarts and hedgehogs, he is someone raised to be a tyrant, someone who only allows his rules to prevail, someone who will only have his way with things. An arrogant man, and you can see all of that in his face as he continues talking ill of everyone around the city.
“You are exactly like they told me.” Riddle looks at you as you interrupt his monologue, a questionable expression on his face as he waits for you to finish that sentence, even though he knows exactly what you are going to say. “You are just a spoiled brat.” You can feel your own heart beating in your chest, ready to come out as you see Riddle preparing to collar you. “You only care about yourself and those stupid rules! Go ahead, collar me! But I will keep on talking! I will make you listen to what you seem to be running away from!”
“How dare you!” He stands up, scaring even some of the hedgehogs that run away from both of you, but you don’t let yourself feel down as you also stand up and point a finger at him.
“You want to get rid of your duties, but you don’t notice that you are the only one who can do that! You are the only one who can stop all of this! You are the only one who can free yourself from-”
“Quiet!” You see Riddle’s face turn red, he is glaring at you, exactly like he did back at the bakery, and you fear you might have destroyed Che’nya’s plan to befriend Riddle with this moment. You see him tremble with rage as you lower your finger that was pointing at him. You wait for him to collar you as you stare into his eyes, determined not to change what you just said about him. You aren’t backing down, not like you could at this point. And with that, he turns around and leaves, without even glancing back one last time at you.
You stand in shock at the whole mess you seem to have created. Unknowingly, you bite your lip and lower your head, ashamed. There is no way now Riddle would ever listen to you. You want to scream so badly, to scream at yourself, but you feel a strange hand on your shoulder again as Che’nya shows up.
“Don’t let this get you down, nya~,” he says, grabbing your chin and lifting your head. “He didn’t collar you! I think that only means one thing~” You see his dumb smile plastered on his face while you feel confused at his words. “Oh, c’mon! This means he knows you are right!”
Che’nya and his way of lighting up the mood are always such a blessing. You do understand his point, however, seeing Riddle’s furious face once again pointed at you, after you two had turned into friends, leaves you with a sour taste in your mouth. “I can fix this…” you whisper, and Che’nya pats your head, fully aware that you can do so.
You watch as your friend turns invisible, leaving you alone in the middle of the garden. The hedgehogs are long gone after getting scared by Riddle and your outburst. You feel the urgency to find Riddle and set things straight with him. All the collared people have placed their hopes on you, and you fear that if you don't hurry, they will look down on you.
Walking inside the palace, you find yourself in the main corridor. You realize that you have no idea where you could find Riddle. The two of you always find each other in random places or plan to hang out in a specific location. Considering asking a guard about Riddle’s whereabouts, you notice that strangely none of them are around. This is the first time this has happened, as you remember guards always being present everywhere around the palace grounds, patrolling or guarding specific spots.
That's when you hear a voice echoing. It's unfamiliar to you, feminine and firm. As you approach and look inside the room from which the voice comes, you find none other than Riddle’s mother. Or at least someone who looks like her. You've seen her figure in some paintings around the castle—an elegant woman with a strict face and cold eyes that almost make you bow down to her. However, the person talking, while somewhat resembling that image of the queen, looks strangely greyish. Their eyes are darker, and every word sounds corrupted as if it doesn't belong to her.
You hear her talking to the guards about the collared people who destroyed the building you had been reconstructing in the past weeks. Her words are filled with rage as she describes these people as nothing but monsters who desire to ruin all she has worked hard for. Her venomous words call them names, lower them to worms, and she states that she will only stop until all of them are truly beheaded.
A gasp escapes you as the gravity of the situation sinks in. Time is slipping away, yet the daunting reality of confronting the queen as a lone individual looms large. Defying her seems like an enormous challenge—she could condemn you to the desolate underground cells, leaving you to rot, or worse, swiftly behead you where you stand.
In the midst of uncertainty, you pace nervously around the corridor, still on the quest to locate Riddle. The urgency intensifies until you chance upon a peculiar staircase leading downward. Could this path lead to the dreaded underground cells? Your thoughts drift to the unfortunate souls suffering under the queen's reign. Recognizing the extent of the chaos you've inadvertently caused, you resolve to follow the stairs, navigating cautiously to avoid detection by any vigilant guards that may be lurking nearby.
Upon arriving in the dungeon, you realize the number of people down there. They stare at you with your noble clothes, eyeing you with disdain. You move slowly deeper into the place, unsure of what to say. Even if you wanted to set them free, you feared this would make things worse with Riddle, and you wanted him to change his mind about you.
"Y/N?!" You hear a familiar voice, and you gasp as you jump in your spot, turning to look at none other than Ace himself. You run towards him with a dumbfounded face. "I know! I know! This looks bad and all, but in my defence, that guard was asking to get punched!" You roll your eyes at Ace's explanation, only to notice that Deuce is also there with him.
"Did you two punch the same guard?" You ask, and you watch as Ace can't look you in the eyes as he scratches the back of his neck, embarrassed that you had guessed it right with such little effort. "You two were supposed to be helping Che'nya!" You try to make them see reason, and Ace shrugs.
"If you get us out of here, maybe we can go back to do that?" He states with a grin. What a dumbass. Just as you are about to ask how you can help them, you hear someone walking down the stairs to the dungeon.
"Hey! What are you doing here?" The guards ask, spotting you in seconds. You freeze, unsure of what to do, as you watch Ace retreat inside his cell. The guard walks towards you as you look sideways, attempting to find any excuse, but nothing comes to mind as he grabs your arm.
"Get him!" You hear Ace's voice as his arms emerge from within the cell, seizing the guard. Their head goes against the metal bars, making it spin for a moment. Before the guard can react, Deuce punches him straight in the nose, causing him to fall flat on the floor.
"Impressive..." You mutter, still looking down at the guard, while you hear Ace and Deuce cheer inside the cell.
"Hurry up and get the keys!" You hear Ace shout as you lean down to search the guard. The keys have to be somewhere with him, and when you find them, you stand up with a jump and a wide smile. Running to unlock the door to your friends, you watch as Ace and Deuce leave the cell.
"I thought I was going to die in there," you hear Deuce say as he shivers at the dark thought.
"Don't be such a baby, we were only there for a day," Ace retorts. As you walk up the stairs, tension between the two of them starts brewing. You scan for any approaching guards, but to your surprise, you spot Riddle.
Your eyes widen, and without thinking, your feet carry you towards him. "Riddle!" you exclaim, expecting him to turn with a scowl. Instead, he seems as surprised to see you.
"Y/N...?" His voice is faint but audible.
"Please, Riddle. Listen to me. I know I was rude back—" You're interrupted as he shakes his head, taking hold of your hand.
"No. I was the one being rude. You are our esteemed guest," he begins, locking eyes with you. His gaze is soft, yet tinged with a hint of fear, as if afraid he might lose you if he doesn't articulate himself correctly. "It’s not the first time I have been told that I overreact! And I have been thinking about your words and about some of the people that I have collared…” He pauses, trying to gather his thoughts. "I don’t want to be seen as a tyrant by everyone," he confesses, and you can feel the sadness in his words as you gaze into his blue eyes.
"Oh, Riddle..." you whisper tenderly. His grip on your hand tightens reflexively. You've known deep down that he isn't a bad person. "I know that you aren't a tyrant. You are a kind person. Every moment I have spent with you up until now proves that. You just need someone to guide you in the right direction." You hold his hand back, and you both share a moment, staring into each other's eyes. Riddle opens and closes his mouth, cheeks turning a soft red.
"Ah, FUC—" A familiar voice interrupts from your side. Turning, you see Ace with a disgusted face, and Deuce looks embarrassed. "This is so disgusting!" Ace adds.
"What?!" Riddle turns another shade of red, angered by Ace's language and the fact that he was caught in such a vulnerable moment. "How dare you—"
"I call the Cauldron—!" Deuce interjects. As soon as those words leave his mouth, a cauldron falls from the sky, landing on top of Riddle. You gasp and lean down to check on him, but he seems to have only passed out.
"I think you killed him!" Ace rushes towards you, with Deuce not far behind.
"What now? We'll get our heads cut for this!"
"Well, you should have thought about it before you killed him!"
You take Riddle’s head on your lap, he is breathing normally. "I don’t believe you had to hit him with a cauldron, Deuce..."
"I got nervous…sorry," Deuce apologizes, sitting next to you and checking if Riddle is fine. "What do we do with him? If we leave him here, we're all done…"
"Why don't we take him to see all the collared people?" you suggest. Ace and Deuce look at you as if they had seen a ghost. "I know this seems crazy, but if he sees the harm he has done to all of you, I'm sure he will do something about it." You glance up at the other two, subconsciously playing with Riddle's hair. The two of them look at each other, unsure of what to say.

"Ruggie, come here really quick."
"Yeah, Grammy?" A hyena beastman said as he set a box of food down. The boy wiped the sweat off his brow and eyed his grandmother's blue-gray eyes.
"You always work hard to keep this house afloat. I have a surprise for you." The woman grabbed an envelope from her pocket and slid it to Ruggie.
"Some donuts?" Ruggie joked, and Grammy Bucchi shook her head.
"There could be. This envelope contains an invitation to Prince Leona's engagement party. It's also a masquerade."
Ruggie raised a brow in disbelief. "Prince Leona wants a masquerade party?" He had seen the Prince a few times in his life, and Leona looked like the last person to have a party like that.
"His fiance requested it. Who is he to say no to her?"
Ruggie hummed in agreement. "Why am I getting this invite?"
"Because you are going."
Ruggie's eyes widened so much that it almost looked like they were popping out of his skull. "But isn't that in soon in Noctis Corvus? That's far away! How would I get there?"
"Which is why I was able to pull some strings for you. Let's say I have a friend in the palace who has set up everything for you." Grammy Bucchi pushed the envelope closer. "Now, you can stay home or go. Your choice, but don't take too long, or you will miss it."
Ruggie eyed the envelope and carefully removed the contents inside. The color and font of the invitation screamed expensive. The gold lettering of his name, or what he thought was his name, was very different from what the hyena could write.
Then there was the party itself. Based on Grammy's words, his transportation there and outfit were covered. But then what? He did not have to mingle with the rich snobs. He could stay near the food and sneak some home for the kids. Ruggie's mouth watered at the variety of food that could be there. He turned to his grandmother with a smile.
"Alright. I'll do it."
Grammy smiled. "Good. Now, when you get to the Noctus Corvus, look for someone named Kifazi. He will help you with everything."

A few days later
The party was lively based on the many guests dancing to the music or mingling with Leona and his fiance. Everyone was having a grand time except for one.
Yuu were bored and hungry. She was sure her silver mask did not even hide it, too.
She loved dancing and meeting new people but did not want to dance with a man who boasts about himself and nothing else (aka her current dance partner). Yuu questioned how a low-ranking noble like herself got pulled into this situation while her stomach was growling. Yuu could not stop thinking about food and remained composed as her silver dress flowed around her. After what felt like hours, the song finally ended, and Yuu took a bow with her dance partner.
"I am going to step out and take a break. I feel parched." Yuu said with a (fake) tired smile. She picked up her silver dress and began to walk off.
"I can go with you." The man tried to follow.
"No!" Yuu exclaimed and cleared her throat. "I mean, no, thank you." Her eyes noticed a couple heading her way. "I will be on my way." She quickly slipped with the unaware couple to get as far away from the man as possible. Her eyes quickly noticed a table with a large assortment of sweets. The variety ranged from Harveston in the Shaftlands to the Queendom of Roses. The sweet aroma filled her nose and called to her in temptation. Yuu let her feet guide her until she stood in front of them.
It seemed like she was not the only one who gave in to the temptation. Standing a few feet away from her was a young man wearing a golden ensemble, a mask covering one eye, and a round hat with feathers. It complemented Yuu's silver dress and mask. Yuu noticed his sandy blonde hair and hyena ears sticking out from the hat. Yuu could see his eyes sparkle, and his tail wagged excitedly as he eyed the delicious treats.
Cute. Yuu smiled and stepped closer to the male.
"I recommend trying the apfelstrudel, flan, and lava cake. All three are different in their own way, and they taste delicious."
The male looked at Yuu in shock, but it quickly went away. "Which one do you like the most?" He asked, his eyes briefly glancing at the girl's diamond-covered bracelet.
Yuu hummed in thought. "It's not on my list." She pointed to a round treat covered in sugar with a cream-colored dot sticking out of the side. "That's a bomboloni. It is like a donut, also known as a big bomb, because of the filling inside. It is my favorite, and I was surprised to see it at this party. If only they were fresh out the stove."
The male laughed a strange but lovely laugh in Yuu's ears. "Thank you for the recommendations, miss." He proceeded to grab one of everything and many of the bombolonis. Yuu watched the male stack each dessert on his tiny plate.
"I don't think that will all fit." Yuu chuckled, her eyes filled with amusement.
"Don't underestimate me, miss. I can do it." The male replied as he proceeded to stuff his mouth with bombolonis.
"I believe you. Anyways, what is your name? I don't think I've ever seen you around here before." Yuu asked, unaware of her companion's momentarily freezing.
"That's a secret since this is a masquerade. Besides, I'm usually at the back of these parties. I don't show my face often, and the Prince does not mind."
Yuu hummed in response. "I see. Okay, so what should I call you?"
The male shrugged. "Anything you want, I guess."
Yuu hummed. She unconsciously rubbed her thumb against her bracelet in thought as her eyes scanned the male's outfit. "How about Dandelion? It goes with your outfit."
"Shye hee hee, that's an odd name. Alright, If we are going by nicknames, then you can be Angel," He pointed at her bracelet. "Because that looks like a small halo."
"Alright, Dandelion." Yuu let out a small giggle as Dandelion's pile grew higher and higher. "Hey, I have an idea, Dandelion." The hyena raised his visible eyebrow and continued adding more food to his plate. "How about we go to a different room to eat all the food?"
Dandelion froze as Yuu started piling her plate with desserts. "You want to help me? We literally just met."
Yuu glanced at Dandelion while she added more food; her pile started to rival his. "Yeah, but would you want to eat your dessert mountain before these snobby people? Why not eat it in a different place and savor it? Plus, we can talk more about them after."
"Shyeheehee, you are a weird girl. I thought you would rather stick to dancing with the party like a goody-two-shoes."
"I don't like dancing that much." Yuu shrugged, and Dandelion grinned.
"Lucky you, I'm not much of a dancer anyway."
Yuu grabbed one of Dandelion's free hands. "Then let's ditch this party and enjoy the food." She said with a mischievous grin.
"Lead the way."
Tumblr media
Meanwhile
"Those two are cute, right, Leona? The princess asked as she watched the two lovebirds leave the ballroom with loving smiles on their faces.
Leona scoffed. "That hyena has been making heart eyes towards the girl since he ran into her at the dessert table. I'm getting tired of watching it."
The princess smirked and looped an arm around her fiance's arm. "It reminds me of a certain someone, huh?"
Leona looked at her with wide eyes. "Why you-"
"You know you weren't exactly stealthy about hiding it either. Vil complained about it to me a lot."
Leona looked away with a blush on his face. "Shut it."
The princess playfully rolled her eyes before grabbing Leona's cheek to turn his head to her and peck his lips. "And you love me for it." She laughed as she let herself be embraced in Leona's arms. The two watched the crowd below them until she spoke again. "That hyena…Is he the one Kifazi mentioned?"
Leona nodded. "He is."
"So when are you going to tell him?"
"I'll let him spend time with the girl. I don't feel like interrupting them when I can corner him in the morning." Leona said. He did not have to look down to know that his fiance was smiling, satisfied with his answer.
"Weren't you tired of watching the hyena make heart eyes to the girl?" The princess quipped, amusement in her voice.
Leona kissed the princess' temple. "I'm a nice guy, Princess."
Tumblr media
"Wait, so you can actually make these yourself?" Ruggie asked as he licked the jelly out of his fingers. Angel was unfazed by it and giggled instead.
"Yeah, my friend, a baker who works in Briar Valley, taught me. I can make those and different varieties of donuts."
Ruggie questioned if the sun was up because he saw sparkles and a glow from the moonlight behind Angel. The light highlighted her features and made her silver jewelry shine like gemstones. To him, the girl look like an angel sent from above.
"What else can you make?"
"Lots of things. Main dishes, sides, desserts, you name it! I can most likely make it." Ruggie's eyes lit up, and he felt his mouth water, thinking about the mountain of food.
Angel shifted in her seat and leaned a little bit toward Ruggie. "So, that's enough about me. What do you do? It seems like you know the Prince."
"Well, I've seen him a few times. I mostly work in the slums and help the children."
"Really! That is really sweet of you."
Ruggie chuckled nervously at his half-lie, and he turned to Angel. "I would still do it even if I was not obligated to. You know, your talent would really help. Those kids would eat anything."
Angel grinned, her eyes brightening like the Sunset Savanna sun. "I would love to! I could even open a restaurant for them."
"Well, you do need some help running it."
"Are you implying that you help?" Angel said as she looked into Ruggie's mischievous eyes. The thought of her and Ruggie helping the kids did not seem bad in her mind.
"Of course."
Angel held her hand out and shook Ruggie's hand. "It's settled, partner."
"Partner," Ruggie replied but did not let go of Angel's hand. The two stared at each other until a knock interrupted their thoughts.
"Hey? Is someone in there?" Ruggie's companion froze, and a moment of fear flashed in her eyes.
"Shit, he's after me?" Angel hissed while standing up, her hands fiddled with her bracelet. Her eyes wandered between her friend's worried look and the door.
"What do you mean? Who's after you?" Ruggie placed his hands on Yuu's shoulders to comfort her.
"Listen, you stay here while I leave. Leave once you hear I'm gone. I don't want to cause a scene if someone sees us alone." She removed her bracelet from her arm, grabbed Ruggie's hand, and placed it in his palm.
"Take this and sell it. I think it goes for ten thousand thaumarks."
Ruggie's eyes widened as he eyed the sparkly accessory. "Ten thousand?! Are you sure you want to give me this?" Usually, Ruggie never refused a money opportunity, but this was from a woman! He was not reckless enough to run off to sell it without permission.
"Yes, I trust that you will use it well." Angel reluctantly let go of Ruggie and made her way to the door. "I hope to see you soon, Dandelion."
Ruggie gently gripped the bracelet and smiled sadly. His heart felt heavy thinking about how the literal angel sent to him was going away so soon. "See you later, Angel. You should also teach me all of the donut recipes you know."
She only laughed; her smile made her glow even more. "I promise"
And with that, his angel was gone.
Tumblr media
Ruggie was back in the ballroom, dancing to the music with his angel. He gazed at her lovingly as the two twirled around the dancefloor.
"I wish this would never end." His angel said. There was a glow around her body, and her eyes sparkled like jewels.
Ruggie's hand slid down her back to support her while he dipped her. "I don't want it to either." He admitted and pulled her close.
His angel smiled sadly and stopped dancing. "But you still have to wake up."
"What?"
"Oi, Ruggie, wake up." a new voice called out, breaking Ruggie out of his slumber. Ruggie's eyes opened; his eyes did not see the ballroom but focused on the furniture of the guest room assigned to him.
"Finally, you're awake."
The blonde turned his head to see the Prince Leona of Sunset Savanna (and eventual Prince consort of Nocte Corvus) staring back at him with bored emerald eyes.
"What the heck? What are you doing here in my room?"
Leona rolled his eyes. "Good morning to you, too. Let me get straight to the point. I am offering you a job."
Ruggie eyed Leona suspiciously. "What's the catch?"
"There is no catch. I've heard about your reputation, Ruggie. Your knowledge about the slums of Sunset Savanna would benefit me in hopes of improving it with my influence here. You know your way in and out of it and potentially similar places in this kingdom. With that, I want you to work for me."
Ruggie relaxed a little bit, but he was still suspicious of Leona. "Is that why I'm here? You decided to corner me now to be an advisor?"
"Including you in the party was my fiance's idea. She insisted on it." Leona stood up and stretched, his body popping every now and then.
Ruggie thought he must have been sitting here for a while as Leona looked down at him.
"You have a minute to decide either yes or no. I don't care which you choose, but I think you are the best for the job. Besides, it gives you plenty of opportunities to see that girl you were with yesterday." Ruggie's shocked look at the revelation only caused Leona to laugh as he went to a nearby dresser. "You were very obvious." Leona picked up the object sitting on it and threw it in Ruggie's direction.
The blonde caught the object and inspected it. When she smiled, the diamonds in his angel's bracelet glimmered like her eyes. He thought of his grandma at home, the kids trying to survive to see the next day, and his angel, who he wished he got the name of.
Yes, I trust that you will use it well. His angel's voice rang, causing Ruggie to smile and rub the cool metal with his fingers. This was noticed by Leona.
"So you have your answer?"
Ruggie looked up at Leona with determined eyes. "I'll do it."

Yuu watched as the buildings passed her view. She was heading to the castle to have tea with the newly crowned Queen of Nocte Corvus and a few other noble ladies. Others consider themselves lucky to be a part of the Queen's social event, but Yuu thought otherwise. The girl sighed as she watched the carriage pass by a group of children playing nearby. The children's smile reminded her of Dandelion's smile when he saw the dessert table at the party. The girl had never heard from Dandelion (how could she since she did not know his real name) since she had to leave that night. Although she had gone through the next few months like normal, Yuu secretly hoped to one day run into Dandelion just for once.
"We are here, Miss." her coach's voice brought Yuu out of her thoughts, unaware that the carriage stopped before the grand castle of Nocte Corvus.
Her goes nothing, Yuu thought as she stepped out. The bright sun blinded her until her eyes adjusted to it. Yuu thought she was hallucinating but saw a familiar mop of blonde hair and hyena ears grinning at her. He wore much fancier clothes than before, and his face was now uncovered. Yuu could now see the speckles of gray in his blue eyes and a light dust of freckles on his cheeks. The sound of a very unique laugh brought her to reality.
"Dandelion?" Yuu only managed to say.
The beastman smirked with glee in his eyes. "Hello, Angel, it has been a while."
Yuu immediately ran to him and pulled him in for a hug. "You're here!" She laughed as Ruggie picked her up by the waist and spun her.
"Oi, Ruggie. Hurry up so Yuu can finally stretch. She traveled far to be here, ya know?" A bored voice called out, breaking the atmosphere around them. The couple turned to find Prince Leona staring at them while his wife giggled at his side.
"Oh, so your name is Ruggie. That is a fitting name." Yuu smiled, ignoring the couple watching them.
Ruggie grinned and maintained his hold on Yuu. "Same to you, Yuu." He stared into Yuu's eyes again before grabbing her hand and leading her into the castle. "C'mon, Yuu. I requested the chefs make some donuts, and catching up while they're hot is better."
Yuu nodded and followed the blonde. She passed by the Queen, who had a knowing smile on her face. She did not need to attend the tea party after all.
As the couple ran, Yuu noticed the silver bracelet dangling on Ruggie's wrist and smiled. It seemed like everything would be well after all.
