Forgot how great the finale of season 2 of leverage is. Man. its just that everything comes together. the fact that even when I was watching it the first time i never thought Tara was betraying them. its in the "thanks for making it interesting nate" and the fact that Sterling switched so quickly when he noticed that Nate was bleeding. its in the fact that nate from the beginning was planning to turn himself over in exchange for the others. its the "i can take them" that Eliot says. about armed FBI agents that surrounded them. its in the fact that Parker was ready to kill Tara for betraying them. its in Hardisons panic that is so so visible. its the way Eliot immediately cuts off Nate's "you can walk away". it's Sophie coming from who knows how far away just because she got called by Tara. its the way Nate finally says that he needs her. its also the "youre my family. my only family". but I think most importantly its the fact that it was stressed so many times over those 2 seasons that Nate is an honest man. That, in Sterlings words, he is not a thief.
"who the hell is this guy?" "i don't know." "my name's Nate Ford. And I am a thief."
just. because it is no longer an insult or something he perceives as worse. yeah he's a thief. the most honourable people he knows are thieves. and he looks up at the helicopter that is flying away with his family and just. man.
yeah. just. man. forgot how good this was. no joke when he said the "I am a thief" I mightve teared up a little bit. its just. this is somehow more telling than the "youre my family" because just. this is how he wants to be perceived. sigh. also the whole Eliot thing and the Sophie thing and just the everyone thing. sigh. Leverage .

i love the scene in episode 10 of season 2 of leverage redemption when breanna says she wants the evil professor dude like bagged and gagged, and eliot and parker are just immediately like "okay bet lets fucking go nab this guy". like no questions asked, breanna asked for it, so they're going to do it. sophie has to step in to stop it and it just has me thinking like damn. breanna really has some of the most powerful and influential criminals in her pocket and wrapped around her finger. the very power she holds, the sway she has. can you imagine just other criminals in the leverage world just knowing this. like, just understanding that you lay so much as a finger on breanna casey, slight her in any way, then they're going to have the wrath of the og leverage team of leverage international against them, the full rage of eliot spencer, alec hardison, and the parker plotting vengeance. like just ugh i love this family and i love how breanna is their (eliot hardison parker) kid, the same way they were nate and sophie's. it's just a beautiful full circle that honestly has to be some of the best media ever written.

a small detail I'd never noticed before: I was on the lookout for parker picking locks in the background, because I know that's a thing she does but I rarely actually see it, and instead I found her fiddling with elastic bands (at least I'm pretty sure) that end up wound around her fingers by the end of the scene.

which, relatable.

no fr the rundown job had absolutely no business having so much polyamorous energy they had to have known what they were doing
“I never get tired of that” *fist bump*
“I started running with some different people. a hacker, and a thief”
the neck grabbing scene?
“you’re the smartest guy I’ve ever known”
the disabling the bomb scene? eliot keeping them stable?
“that’s my boy! that’s what I’m talking about!”
kiss for luck sequence
the look parker and eliot share- we do the things they can’t, won’t
eliot’s eyes saying ‘kiss this man because I can’t’ (and she does)
“don’t do that to me, I can’t lose you, I can’t lose you. don’t scare me like that.”
“I run with them now” “honor amongst thieves?” “something like that”
eliot dropping his crutches to use parker and hardison as supports

rewatching leverage and i did forget exactly how much of an asshole nate is.
like.
sir. i understand that you are catholic, traumatized and so goddamned repressed that you might as well be at the core of the earth.
but god.
why do you have to be a little bitch about it.
man cannot say a genuine word about how much he cares for people to save his life.
like. he's definitely an actions over words kinda guy but it's not that hard to say 'hey we do need you because you make this team better' or 'hey good job guys you're doing great'
i'm surprised he can think–that stick's gotta be compressing his brain with how far up his ass it is.
i love him to death but man do i want to just slap him sometimes.
and that's good character design!
also? no one fucking appreciates hardison enough. i could write an essay on how much they do not fucking appreciate him.

My favorite line in Leverage
"And if you do it wrong?"
"Uh, the bomb triggers a giant EMP pulse, Washington D.C. is fried, and thousands will die, and we go down as the biggest terrorists in American history, but we'll be dead too, so it's not really our problem."
- Hardison (in response to Parker)
I need to see some more love for Hardison y'all, he's just too good of a character to not be beloved.

I gotta do a things I'm noticing on my leverage rewatch masterlist but literally just in the first two eps I think the things I love the most are that they are, every single one of them, here to cause chaos FIRST. oho the congressman is obsessed with his house is he? Hey, can I borrow your phone? It would be a shame :3 if something :3 happened to his mahogany wood panels :3
and it's simple!! Eliot makes one (1) phone call in the name of making trouble and it gets folded into the con seamlessly. He throws a rock at a camera. Parker's skills are showcased in how you never see her working - one moment the picture is on the wall, the next second it isn't. She's in one outfit walking in the door, in another walking out. Working together to get the voice command - parker knows exactly what she needs, she's already onto solving the problem, and Nate just goes "Eliot" to get the rest of the sounds and he manufactures, on the fly, a two-part grift that Sophie immediately joins in on to get what she needs. He remembers every single sound, pairs it with his fancy food knowledge, looks at the appetizers he can get his hands on, and goes for it! Hardison needs the rfid card, he's already put what he needs in the cell phone, Eliot just needs to hold the card close to it. Offices like a real business, established since 1913. old Nate.
Masterfully, casually competent, and they all enjoy working with other experts! Hardison and Nate sit down with beers and popcorn just to watch Parker put paper in a box! People with different specialities have certain aspects handed to them and the rest of them kick back and watch a master at work, ready to give backup but generally just there, having a good time.

For real tho, what with all the 'it's a very distinctive footprint' Eliot would kick Sherlock 'I can recognize 424 cigarette brands from the ash' Holmes' ass like no tomorrow

I just got done rewatching the Jackal Job. I cried.
I cried because it's a beautifully written episode. It's artistic, its rich and complex, it tells a unique and beautiful story.
But mostly I cried because I saw someone like me. Now, I'm not an old lady, and I never married the girl I loved. But as I watched Stella tell the story of her and Jo's relationship, I felt the same agony, love, and regret I feel towards my own Jo. I could have been her. In a way, i am her.
They just got everything right. Everything from the powerlessness of a lesbian relationship of that time to the simplicity of their relationship to the protectiveness she felt towards Jo to the pure and raw love.
I don't get a lot of LGBT media. It's not something I typically interact with for a myriad of reasons, but to see Jo and Stella's unapologetic, beautiful love? I was in awe.
Also, I loved the storytelling choice to have Sophie cast in Stella's role during the storytelling bits. How much of what she said could have come out of Sophie's mouth, too? How much of that was the things Sophie can't say?
Not as herself, but as a version of herself, she is able to put a voice to who she is.

Hardison: Age of the geek, baby. We run the world.
Eliot: Mm-hmm. You keep telling yourself that.
Years later, telling their grandchildren about how they met.
Hardison: So I did.
Eliot: Yeah, he told himself and anyone else who stood still long enough.
Parker: Every day if he could manage it!
Hardison: Make fun all you want, it worked on you two.
Eliot: Whatever, man.
Parker: I'm pretty sure it was me that seduced you.
Startled choking from Eliot and Hardison. Groans and laughter from the children.
